Guest Reviews
- Mohammed (10/5): - Bon acceil
- MURAT (6/5): Price Performance Hostel - Castle Hostel was very good before ,However it lost its quality a little bit.Cons Location good near tahrir square and metro station , However Sadat metro station closed that I dont know exact reason.Rooms clean , Bathroom also clean But shampoo or soap limited.I know this is hostel But it might be more.Cons Staff at reception a little bit was rude in first day.I didnt like the behaviours But not very big problem.Rooms basic But beds very bad and immediately need to be replaced.the collapsed bed is not comfortable.AC not heating and breakfast very limited.
- SHOHEI (10/5): - Good
- Richard (8/5): Central, fairly basic but clean - Good downtown location, just minutes away from Egyptian museum. On the 15th floor of an aging building, with good views.
I stayed in an ensuite room - clean, if not much space. Bathroom looked fairly new and was clean. Balcony doors don't close well and provide poor insulation - a lot of noise coming from outside traffic and a lot of cold in winter. They provided a heater thanks to which I got through the night fine.
Staff are nice even if not all speak English - Radwa does and is very helpful. She helped me with a tour - the driver didn't speak much English but if you know exactly what you want, or take the preset itinerary, it is a good value if you want to get to harder-to-reach places. She also helped me get a train ticket (though note their middle man slaps 100LE commission on top of the ticket price).
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel is on the 15th floor and the elevator sometimes is very slow. The location is great as it is near to Egyptian Museum etc. Also, the owners can arrange local tours.
- Michael (10/5): - The staff at the Cairo castle hotel were very friendly and helpful! Made it a pleasure to stay. Good place on a budget and very close to downtown Cairo.
- KSB (10/5): - I had a wonderful time at the Cairo Castle Hostel. For the rate, the rooms are all well maintained and have good amenities. Certain times I felt that certain things could have been cleaner, but it was made up for by the hospitality and warmth of the staff. I often felt like I was just another one of the their friends, and it was easy to interact with them without feeling like they wanted anything in return. Overall, a great place to stay.
- lee (10/5): - The staff were the NICEST people I have ever met, especially the elevator man who would bring me a plastic chair when I was standing outside waiting for a tour, and the hotel staff who would bring me a cold smoothie when I returned tired and sweaty. They always wanted to know how my day went and made helpful suggestions. The room was clean and comfortable in the old building. It was not fancy but adequate and a joy because of the staff. I felt like I was leaving family after 5 days.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Do Not Stay Here - Do not book with this hotel. I was moved to a different (unacceptable) hotel without asking me first. The hotel claimed they were a sister hotel and that Cairo Castle Hotel had electricity problems. The phone number online was disconnected. I did get my refund through hotels.com, but it took some fighting and an expensive phone call to the USA to receive it.
