- PARAGE (8/5): Bel hôtel au calme et bien situé - Le confort la décoration et le service Il y a eu un manquement lors de notre arrivée, le chauffeur n'est pas venu nous chercher et nous avons perdu énormément de temps, et cela était stressant. Par ailleurs, nous avons payé un day use plus de la moitié du prix d'une nuitée avec petit déjeuner, cela est un peu excessif.
- Kristyleahwill (2/5): Not to the standard of Bonvoy - I felt this hotel fell very short of my regular Bonvoy experiences. I was pleaded to be emailed prior to arrival to be advised I was upgraded as a platinum member and would have club, breakfast and laundry included upon check in I was told no laundry as I was using point for my stay. Then my room had a faulty shower. I was given another room to move to with no offer of help. That shower worked but only on one setting. I also did not get my room serviced that I moved to. I think any hotel that moves you should offer an apology and a small token but nothing was provided. No follow up at all to see if I was ok. On the last day I had late checkout and asked if my room could be serviced since it hasn’t been the day before and have had this done many times. I was told no as I was checking out/ all in all an unpleasant experience.
- PARAGE (10/5): C'est Parfait, excellent séjour! - L'accueil du personnel, le transfert aeroport hotel parfait. Le calme et la décoration de l'hôtel. Le service Laundry et bien sûr le petit déjeuner. Les éclairages en chambre qui dysfonctionnement (je l'ai précisé à l'accueil). La chambre est sombre et comme toute la décoration est noire, on a du mal à retrouver ses affaires. Il faudrait aussi prévoir des éclairages ds l'entrée et prés des placards ainsi qu'autour du miroir SDB.

- Hoylake01 (10/5): Quiet oasis in a metropolis - This is our second visit to the Dutton Reserve. We love everything about the hotel. The interior design is a mix of modern and classic Chinese design.the rooms are comfortable and spacious. The staff were great and the food outstanding. One particular benefit is the Executive Menu for snacks and drinks, they don’t have a Marriott M Club, but offer amenities to members through the day in the lounge. The hotel location is very convenient. Very near two MRT stations and 3 major bus routes, a 7 minute walk to China town. And the Maxwell food center is nearby. The street in front of the hotel is quiet and attractive with shophouses on both sides. You feel that you live in a neighborhood rather than a modern development complex. If we return to Singapore, which is quite likely, the Duxton Reserve will be our choice of hotel.

The location is also great, since we could walk to plenty of great restaurants and food stalls as well as the Maxwell train station. My only hit would be the bed…it had a frame that went around three sides of the bed, and the person on the frame side had to climb over the other person to get in or out. The mattress was loud and not comfortable. We love the Autograph collection properties, and this aspect, while perhaps a traditional bed that fit the decor, was not great. The bar and restaurant were quiet and the food and beverages were just what we wanted.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful from the moment I arrived, and check-in was a breeze. I also appreciated that the room was stocked with plenty of complimentary water, which is a thoughtful touch and something that’s becoming quite rare in many hotels these days. The room itself was on the smaller side, and the lighting setup might benefit from a little more flexibility. There was one switch controlling the room lights, with spotlights directly above the bed. It could be nice to have dimmers or separate switches so guests can keep some softer lighting on while winding down in the evening. Overall, a very pleasant stay with excellent service.

Had a message from the hotel when the room was ready, the pearl suites are amazing so big and comfortable. Great hotel and amazing location to everything Singapore has to offer. - lapiscat (10/5): A Winter Break - I stayed for 5 days at the Orchard Hotel on Orchard Road.I have stayed in Singapore previously and was not disappointed with my accommodation service from all members of the staff was excellent. Exploring Singapore is easy transportation clean and run to time. Visiting the gardens and the Orchids are a must . We saw the Chinese New Year decorations lots of visitors no threats or feelings of worry. A must visit country.
- ambs_q (10/5): Beautiful, Clean, Luxury Stay - Wonderful Service - Staff were very welcoming and warm, with the hotel kindly offering us a complimentary upgrade to the Opium Suite, a honeymoon cake, and a lovely bottle of red wine after we had an unexpected bad experience travelling, which had led us to booking in. The staff were aware we had gone through quite a traumatic experience upon our arrival and we so appreciated their kindness, warm welcome, and the care taken with us. It made a massive difference to our honeymoon and we thank the team deeply for this. Really enjoyed the beautiful, decorated room, the cocktail/canape hour included with our stay, and delicious breakfast each morning. The pool is a short walk away in the sister building, but the location of the hotel is otherwise excellent. Shops nearby and in a great part of Singapore to visit classic locations as well as local hidden gems. Wonderful experience and would wholly stay again.

Ava at the front desk was exceptionally helpful, and her bubbly personality immediately put us at ease. She even took the initiative to call the kitchen and arrange a takeaway breakfast for us, as we needed to leave for the airport at 5:30 a.m. This Autograph Collection property offers lounge access for Marrriott Elite members, and the hors d’oeuvres were delicious—better than Sheraton’s cocktail hours. Duxton Reserve is located in Chinatown Singapore and within walking distance of Maxwell Food Centre and the MRT subway, making it very convenient for exploring the city. We also slept very well; the room was quiet with no street noise, as the hotel is located on a narrow street. We would definitely stay at Duxton Reserve again when we return to Singapore.
- lorab698 (6/5): Duxton=Awkward - At a glance, the Duxton is a lovely property; however, when you actually stay there you find that it is, in a word, AWKWARD! We stayed at the property with another couple. Our room was two story. The second story was accessed via a spiral staircase-AWKWARD for getting suitcases up to the loft with the bedroom and bath. There was only one space to put a suitcase stand the room was so small. The sink in the bath took up ⅔ of the counter so no where to put your toiletries. The set up in the loft was AWKWARD. Our friends had a room with a large opium bed in the center of the small bedroom. An opium bed can only be exited from an opening on one side. So the person away from the opening gets to crawl over their bedmate to get out of bed-AWKWARD. I won’t go into detail about the darkness of their room…. Breakfast that you order from a menu was free but you could not vary from the menu. If you wanted a piece of toast you had to order the egg breakfast, etc., a second cup of coffee meant a new cup not a simple refill. The staff was not able to vary -AWKWARD. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The evening free happy hour was very nice. I would not stay in this property again unless I could see all the rooms and pick a “normal” one.

Easy to get to the Marina Bay area if you're after the walk and exploration. The bar and restaurant staff were always happy for a chat and to recommend places in the surrounds to go for exploration or food. Across from a 7/11 if you need other supplies. The perks of staying, included breakfast, the afternoon tea and the evening drinks and snacks were delicious. Our bed and mattress were sinking quite significantly in the centre which made for some uncomfortable sleep. I would expect that they would be about ready for replacement.

The nightly happy hour is another win: great drinks and tasty bites (even if portions are small, the quality more than makes up for it). Plus, the restaurant’s artful decor adds such a nice vibe—eating there never felt like a typical hotel meal. Service shines too, which makes sense for a boutique property. The staff remembered my name and room number from day one, and their attention to detail was spot-on. Even the laundry service was excellent—fast, thorough, and handled with care. - TK216 (10/5): Come for the vibes, but pass on the Old Fashioned - My husband and I was only able to enjoy one night at the Duxton as our last night in Singapore during our honeymoon and I wish we had more nights here. We were first very courteously greeted by Andi who notified us when our room was ready and even prepared a surprise for our honeymoon! She was also very communicative through WhatsApp to have our desired drinks ready upon our check in. Next was Lahiru who helped us with our bags as well as offered us an umbrella for our explorations since it was anticipated to rain. Lee Chung made breakfast feel like an auntie was serving us all her home dishes and she even helped take some pics of us. The one thing I would say was definitely not worth the value were the old fashioned drinks we ordered at the bar. It cost nearly 70 Singapore dollars for 2 and were extremely watery and not well made for the cost. That may be the only drink not well made though because we had the most amazing espresso martini and negroni upon check in!

Got upgraded to the loft room and the bathroom is a bit dark but really appreciated the additional space. Front desk kept trying to get me last minute reservations at the few restaurants I wanted to go to and they managed to get one for me. Also always made sure my cup was full of iced americano.

As a Marriott Elite, the care and treatment were over the top. The hotel is located in great walking location adjacent to Chinatown.
- tatroublesme (6/5): Style over substance. - This hotel is style over substance. The stars are for location, reception/bell staff and food quality. The hotel is very well decorated and the choice of colors and interior design is very unique. Location: walkable to Chinatown and Maxwell MRT. Staff: The reception and bell staff were friendly and trying their best. They helped me in whichever way they could and even sent up a birthday dessert and bottle. They did mess up my airport drop - they called me a regular taxi which I thought was included (they did send a similar taxi for the airport pickup after all), so it was unpleasant when the cab asked me to pay up upon reaching the airport. To their credit, the hotel management reached out to me to acknowledge the mistake. The breakfast staff (Ali) was barely able to manage even 3 covers with messed up orders, missing basics (like constantly forgetting cutlery, water) Food: they provide complementary breakfast, snacks and drinks which is great (but an extremely limited menu. for eg. a choice of the same 2 cocktails e veryday). All the food and drinks I tried were good quality. Rooms: aesthetically pleasing but poorly designed and dark. Barely any space and there is not even a table. The shower area constantly leaks water to the area near the main sink area. Toilets don't have a bidet which is common in Asia. The WORST part: All the Diptyque bath provisions (lotion , shampoo, conditioner) were expired and smelt horribly rancid. After a 25 hour journey, I was looking forward to a nice bath but the shampoo smelt so off that I couldn’t figure out how to get the smell off my hair. The same happened when I used the lotion. I informed the front staff and they replaced all provisions the next day - however even the replacements were all from 2022, expired and smelt similarly rancid. I informed the staff again but nothing was done. So clearly nobody in the staff tried to understand or address the problem. I finally gave up and just bought my own provisions from the 7/11 right opposite the hotel. Can you imagine something like this in a $500 per night hotel?

Sustainability: The lights where on all day after the cleaner had been there. No need - switch the light off while no one in the room. Very helpful staff - great.

At breakfast, an Indian staff member displayed obvious differential behavior toward guests of different ethnicities: he was warm and proactive with all foreign guests—greeting them actively, guiding them enthusiastically, and even engaging in friendly conversations. However, when dealing with Asian guests including myself, he remained cold and distant throughout. He offered no initiative to assist, provided no necessary guidance, and did not even respond with basic courtesy. Such differential service based on appearance and nationality constitutes a clear tendency of discrimination and has seriously ruined my stay experience.

- 804gerganas (10/5): An oasis in the bustle of Chinatown - For my first trip to Singapore, I knew I wanted to stay at a Marriott Bonvoy property since I'm a member. Initially I was looking around the Marina area since that's where the majority of activies are but the Duxton Reserve really caught my eye. In fact, staying at this hotel is the only reason why I decided on Chinatown. Once you walk in, you get transported into a 1920s Oriental aesthetic with luxury touches everywhere. I stayed at the Pearl suite, which had such a lively, bright quality to it. My concerns about getting around were quickly allayed since the Maxwell train station was a 5 min walk and a few other ones were just a bit further out. I felt pretty safe walking around, even in the evenings (as a solo female traveler). There were at least 2 food courts nearby where you can get local cheap food or do laundry. The staff was excellent. Special call out to the breakfast staff (I was usually served by 2 ladies) and to Bellman Jamil. Jamil was extremely helpful in helping to get me around town and providing advice (and even some coins) for the laundry. If you get a chance to come to Singapore, I highly recommend the Duxton Reserve. I know I will be coming back!

Our room was spacious, a beautiful bed, good bathroom. Location in Chinatown was excellent. Staff were wonderful. One amazing feature not expected was the afternoon tea menu going on to the early evening menu of drinks and nibbles. Michelle and Ali were such gracious hots, it made our stay even better

The room is historical and boutique with lovely Diptyque products and a Bose speaker. Great location - easy access to MRT and lots great restaurants and bars nearby. Overall a great stay and will recommend it!

Taking the elevator does not mean rolling your luggage to your room, the levels don’t match and you still have to take the stairs. Location is in the intricate streets of Chinatown with very narrow sidewalks and barely room for a car. Employees are polite but they can’t make up for the property shortcomings. Booking through Expedia and choosing ‘pay at property’ having the opportunity to view the room prior to check-in is not real: they charge the full amount of the entire stay days prior to arrival and there is no recourse. We had to move out in a few hours the next morning and forfeit the cost of the entire stay, no recourse. Moved to Intercontinental, great choice. Do yourself a favor and skip this choice of hotel. Location is not near Sands Marina Bay as advertised, you need a taxi.

Walking distance to lots of sights, bars, restaurant etc. Very interesting, opulent and beautiful interior/decor, perhaps one of the nicest I've seen in a hotel! Bellman Jamil takes care of you from the moment you arrive until you (reluctantly) have to say goodbye. Highly recommended for anyone who wants an unforgettable and superb stay at a quiet and luxurious hotel in Singapore!

Great location and use of The Maxwell hotel pool and gym was a bonus. Canapes and Cocktails were beautifully presented. Staff went above and beyond to make us welcome each time we walked through the lobby door. While we appreciated the historical essence of the hotel some practicalities of getting a heavy bag up stairs & into the lobby or up the curved staircase in the deluxe suite could be an issue for some.

The best staff member was Jamil who greeted us everyday - he's the best! On the flip side, the service during evening cocktails was inconsistent. While the staff were friendly overall, one evening we had a disappointing experience. We ordered appetizers, but they were mistakenly given to another guest. Even when the guest pointed out that they were actually ours, the staff just brushed it off. We never received our food and eventually left. It felt like it simply didn’t matter to them—and that’s not cool. We never went back for evening cocktails after that.

The interior decor in the reception, restaurant, bar and executive lounge is unique but with a homely and welcoming feel. The rooms are spacious and offer good facilities. I would like to thank Evelyn who stood out during the many touch points including the executive lounge service and during breakfast, she had a great attitude whilst working even when busy.

- Journey18948626027 (4/5): The shower has no water. For a hotel in Singapore, I really cannot find that acceptable - Hotel is nice but the 'hardware' needs some work. The shower has no water and I only found out in the middle of the night. I was simply too tired to call the front desk to sort this out. Something so basic should not have happened. Told the front desk when I checked out, and all I got was a blank look. Wonderful service.

- Departure17203412230 (4/5): Great location but disappointing stay - The location of this hotel is fantastic, and the setting is quite unique. However, a word of caution: do not book an Opium Room if you are even slightly claustrophobic. I am not, but I still felt rather suffocated—there are only two small windows facing another wall, which makes the room feel very closed-in and a bit oppressive. On top of that, both the corridors and the rooms have a musty smell, and since the windows don’t really open, you cannot properly air the space out, which makes it even less pleasant. Another downside is the front office staff, who never greeted us during our stay, which felt a little unwelcoming. On top of that, we had just gotten engaged two days before our arrival and had informed the hotel, hoping for at least a small gesture or acknowledgment. Unfortunately, nothing was arranged, and it was never mentioned, which was disappointing given the occasion. All in all, this seems like an efficient hotel for business travelers, but for a personal or celebratory stay, I would not necessarily recommend it.

The staff was super kind and willing to share their best places to visit, they had great food and the location is in a really nice area - walking distance from anything you could want or need.
- Sightseer26908568302 (10/5): Historical place with hospitality from staffs - Decent location if you need to visit Aisa Square. Staffs service is great and upgrade to Platinum member is quite impressive - I receive different suites three times in a row for different year visits. Breakfast and cocktail hours serve tasty and restaurant quality food and have good selection of menu you can choose from. The condition of building is a bit old due to its historic background but maintained well.

- nlgood (8/5): Good except the noise - We wanted a comfortable hotel in a good location that wasn’t a big tower hotel. Duxton Reserve delivered on all that - close to Maxwell MRT, on a side street in Chinatown with characterful (if dark) decor. The rooms were a little tired but broadly fine. The staff were friendly and helpful and went above and beyond. However, one very big caveat, the street noise in the rooms at the front of the hotel means I would not stay there again unless a room at the back could be guaranteed. Maybe I was unlucky being there Saturday and Sunday nights - but not a risk I would willingly run again. Dinner at the Yellow Pot was outstanding in all regards.

Near the metro. Small room. We had to climb over each other to get out of bed. That was the negative. Especially in the middle of the night. The restaurant was very good but expensive.
- Trek305785 (10/5): Excellent stay - Excellent food and drinks. My room was quiet and comfortable - just what I needed for an extended stay. Staff were very helpful and responsive. I loved the stylish aesthetic and historic feel of the hotel and the location on a smaller side street in the vibrant Chinatown neighborhood put me right near all of the interesting shops but was a quiet cozy location.

- MartinL6153 (4/5): Unpleasant Smell In the Room - Warm hospitality during our recent stay at Duxton Reserve. Appreciate the staff’s service and attention to detail. That said, serious concern regarding a persistent moulding issue that resulted in a very unpleasant smell in the room. This is not only uncomfortable, particularly for guests with allergies or respiratory sensitivities. Staff provided a dehumidifier but doesn’t help to reduce the unpleasant scent. Hope the hotel will look into addressing this issue promptly, as it detracts from what is otherwise a great experience.
- mssimpletraveler (10/5): Great hospitality and location! - I stayed here for 10 days while on business trip and I would 100% return to this hotel. It was so convenient to everything! It's a 2 minute walk from the Maxwell station and it's surrounded by different eateries and food centers. The breakfast was one of the best I've had in any hotel! I tried almost everything on the breakfast menu and was not disappointed. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay!

I thoroughly enjoyed staying at The Duxton and will definitely plan to stay again on my next visit to Singapore. I can't say enough about the staff- friendly, helpful, attentive - simply a joy to have such an experience.

It’s just a short walk from a local hawker centre—a must-try for anyone visiting Singapore. A special thanks to Jamil, who made my short stay incredibly smooth and welcoming. His warm and sincere hospitality truly stood out. He recommended I visit Maxwell Food Centre for dinner, which was only a few minutes’ walk from the hotel and turned out to be a fantastic local experience.

- Abqtraveler76 (8/5): Great location! - The Duxton Reserve’s location is fabulous for exploring Singapore. We were upgraded from the basic “shophouse room” we booked to a suite long before arrival. Jamil at the front door was super helpful and knowledgeable and if he offers you an umbrella, you should take it because he knows the weather there. (We refused and then got soaked. 😂) The breakfast included for most is quite substantial with lots of choices. Ours came out quickly every morning, and the breakfast waitstaff were very pleasant. Afternoon snacks and drinks were also great and appreciated as breaks from the hot Singapore sun. Negatives: The entire hotel smells musty. But it is humid and the building is old, so some might find that to be part of the charm. We had a mishap with turndown service the first night. We were asleep due to jet lag, which caused housekeeping to call engineering to crack our deadlock, and in turn ended up scaring everyone involved. Housekeeping skipped our room for the rest of our 4-night stay, so we were very low on towels and toilet paper by the end of our stay. But that’s unlikely to happen on the regular. Overall, a charming, historic, beautiful hotel in a wonderful location. But if you want luxury, look elsewhere.

The sunken sink although aesthetically pleasing was pointless as only half was ever utilised. Everything was worn and aged. Sofas were stained. Felt very grubby.
- Flyer04212458029 (10/5): Wonderful Team - Bellman Jamil, Bartender, receptionists and the whole staff team are so kind and caring. I stayed for 2 night and they took good care of me. Good breakfast, cocktails, and prompt attention to my requests. The deck is very interesting, and the first boutique hotel in Singapore. I will come back to stay again. Even if you don’t stay, good to stop by for a drink just to feel the nice vibe.

The happy hour certainly is such as the bar tender and staff are talented and friendly. Rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. We will certainly visit again on our next trip to Singapore
- bruceale (4/5): Nice but Smells Bad - The Hotel is nice, I love the old style. location is perfect. honestly it smells bad, il smells old and humid all the time, in the rooms and in the lobbies. plus the breakfast is poor and there is no ambience at all. It can be a nice stay but definitely they need to improve in the details to be a Marriott.
- Andrew (10/5): Historical boutique hotel - Checked in at 0200 and dropped dead immediately. Woke up to a very nice hotel with lots of history and cool. Too bad there wasn’t a window in the room with any view. Nice minibar and everything you need. If you need to go to the convenience store, there is a 7-11 across the street. Staff very friendly and pointed me to a place nearby for their pool and gym.

Every detail was handled with care— Friendly, professional, and genuinely caring—truly 5-star service by Liqiong, Honey and Ridzuan. My favorite cocktail was Plum sour made by Ridzuan, best ever. Highly recommend!

- Verified traveler (6/5): Déçue par rapport aux attentes - J’avais beaucoup d’attentes concernant cet hotel donc j’ai été un petit peu déçue. L’hôtesse d’accueil qui a effectué notre check in nous avait donné une chambre qui ne nous convenait pas du tout (vue sur échafaudage, climatisation très bruyante, lit peu confortable, odeur de renfermé) mais le lendemain, un hôte d’accueil très sympathique nous a changé de chambre et tout s’est plutôt bien déroulé. J’ai apprécié les produits d’hygienne diptyque. Le ménage était fait tous les jours. Le concierge, Jamil, était adorable et serviable. Je trouve néanmoins le prix de cet hotel non justifié.

And, Thank you to all of staff serviced us, everyone are very friendly and smart! We also like the hotel’s decoration and the sense of architecture, a blend with Western and Eastern’s classical folk elements, really great! Maybe our Windows’s outside view was not very nice…if the carpet more clean than now would be more relaxed to be barefoot at room…

Great breakfast, and a relaxed happy hour that allowed us to make friends with other guests. Walking distance to everything, very safe area.
- vincentqz (10/5): An amazing and unforgettable stay - Very well-located boutique hotel with easy access to underground trains and buses. I was upgraded to the opium suite. Room was decent and still in style. Bed was comfortable. Reception staff Thivana was extremely helpful. I arrived at the hotel with frustration because my luggage was missing due to the airline’s fault. Thivana copied the report I received and called the airport to track my luggage immediately after checking me in. She would follow this whenever I needed, which made me fell very relieved and thankful. The bellman Jamil was very friendly and ready to help as well. I would recommend to widen the choices of breakfast with some local taste. Anyway, the breakfast was indeed proper and tasty. Generally an amazing and unforgettable stay, thank you.
