Junior Suite
This is the most lavish, stylish and exotic guest room. It is decorated with a unique design. Furnished with antique furniture, gilt mirrors and chandeliers, it also has period pictures. The bathroom has a monsoon shower and Penhaligon's toiletries. Special touches include frette linen dressing gowns, ornate beds and towels.
Our Junior Suites are an ode to opulence, each one lovingly designed to capture the extravagant spirit of their past occupants or royal muses. Swathed in rich fabrics, adorned with antique treasures, and sprinkled with a touch of theatrical flair, these suites are nothing short of our most sumptuous and stylish quarters. Several feature a plush sofa that can convert into a single bed, ideal for accommodating a third guest.
Some of our Junior Suites pay tribute to The Gore’s most illustrious visitors, such as the Dame Nellie Melba Suite, a nod to the famed Australian opera singer, and the Dame Edith Evans Suite, a fitting salute to the grande dame of the West End stage. The Miss Ada Suite and the Miss Fanny Suite honor the Cook sisters that once owned the hotel, while the Lady Blessington Suite bears the name of the Countess that resided at Gore House, the Kensington manor that originally stood on the site of the Royal Albert Hall. Paying homage to Britain’s most iconic female monarchs, the Queen Victoria Suite and the Queen Elizabeth Suite channel the splendor of Buckingham Palace itself to provide a very royal sanctuary to spend the night.

Guest Reviews
- Kim (10/5): Very good - Everything No socket near a mirror for a hair dryer
- Omar (9/5): Beautiful - The history, style and staff On check out I was over charged for no clear reason to me
After I mentioned it they removed it and apologized to me
Otherwise loved my stay
- John (9/5): We were delighted to be given a complimentary upgrade on arrival and the room was lovely. - Service and ambience Nothing
- Jolanta (10/5): -
- julie (9/5): - Un super hotel avec le personnel très aimable et à l'écoute. Les chambres sont très belles et bien insonorisées Le miroir dans la salle de bain
- Sally (10/5): Wonderful upgrade and delightful staff. - The welcome was incredible, so friendly and helpful, and every time we passed reception we received the same level of delightful cheeriness. On top of which, we were offered a wonderful upgraded room. The location is wonderful for our visits to the Royal Albert Hall and the Serpentine Galleries and the decoration of the hotel perfect for the period of the building. N/A
- John (8/5): Great place to stay for Royal Albert Hall gigs - Stayed for a gig at The Royal Albert Hall, which it is very local to (5 minute walk). Quiet property with lots of amenities and options (bar, restaurant, room service etc). Didn’t use them so can’t rate those, but nice to have a lot of options to choose from. Staff very friendly and attentive. Would stay again. Mattress was a bit soft for me but nothing I couldn’t handle, expect it would suit a lot of people so just a personal preference really.

- Fiona (7/5): A grand old hotel. - Albert Hall had a special event and the hotel was concentrating on people attending this gala. We enjoyed the proximity to Kensington Gardens and the V&A. The bedding was very good quality and comfortable, the Cosy Room was tiny! There was a lot of noise at night. The corridors with closed doors took a while to walk down to get to the lift. We had to wait to be shown our room and this made check in a long process. Filming was taking place so sitting rooms were not available for our use.
- Susan (9/5): -
- Adam (10/5): - Staff were amazing and so helpful. The hotel is very smart and it has lots of unique and quirky elements. The bar and the restaurant were also fantastic. Ideal location if you are going to the Albert Hall.
- Julia (8/5): Great stay with a few glitches - The hotel is in a great location for sight seeing around the V&A museum, Science museum & others, Kensington Palace gardens & Portobello Road vintage markets.
The hotel is sympathetically & tastefully decorated to suit the period of the property.
The four poster bed was really comfortable with amazing pillows and the room was nicely decorated and to an overall high standard.
The Tube station is around a 15mins walk away. Public buses are nearby. The plumbing in the bathroom requires attention in order to get consistent hot water through, especially to the hand basin. Also the tolerance on the bath taps between having a hot or cold shower above the bath didn’t allow for a consistent heat output. We realise that the sanitary wear is in keeping with the period design, but the taps also need new washers to stop the constant dripping water.
The breakfasts overall were lovely but we felt that the serving staff were not all trained to the same standard & as a result people were either kept waiting, items were missing or having to be reordered. The bacon was almost cremated at the end of our stay, whereas all breakfasts had been lovely until that point in time.
The coffee machine in the room is very outdated & is only left with one decaf and one standard coffee pod as routine. The staff issue the same 2 if you ask for more. No biscuits.
We were given a final bill on departure which was for £120 of service charges for breakfast including a £7.50 service charge for a £5 bag of crisps taken from the room mini bar. We didn’t agree to pay the extra, so these charges were removed.
- Danièle (10/5): Excellent stay in beautiful classic hotel near park, located in s. Kensington area. - Beautifully appointed hotel and bedroom with classic furniture. Super clean and comfortable beds and soundproofed rooms. Very attentive and personable staff. Separate dining room for breakfast lunch dinner. Great breakfast. Separate bar area. Nice library for relaxing times. Very welcoming of our small dog. Super safe area..Indeed south kensington is very pleasant with kensington park 2 min away, the Victoria and Albert museum and Royal Albert hall for concerts. This is our second stay in this hotel and we will make it our home away from home in London. Cannot wait to be back. nothing!
- Derek (10/5): Highly recommend The Gore, located for easy access to all the sights. - The hotel was exceptional, rooms were amazing, super comfy beds. Breakfast was great and our 3 nights there was a lovely way to end our UK holiday. Perfectly located to access all the sights. Nothing to say
- Kim (9/5): Very good - Vintage
- Keith (9/5): comfortable stay - great location and stylish accomodation. small detail - asked for more shower jel but it did not arrive
- Marilyn (10/5): Superb hotel 10/10 - Everything. Perfect hotel . Quaint Englishness at its finest.
Top quality bed linen,, pillows and duvet beauriful china V&A cups, beautiful room and bathroom. Slippers and robes. Superb staff. Excellent quality food. Didn' t want the stay to end. Oh yes , and it,'s perfect for the Royal Albert Hall If i had to be very very picky light wasn' good for applying make up
- Chris (9/5): A great stay and would use again - Great location and friendly staff Nothing comes to mind.
- Matt (10/5): - A beautiful, decadent hotel with a rich history and rock n roll pedigree, if you love the rolling stones, you're in for a treat!
Perfectly located a stones throw from the Albert Hall for concert/event attendees and the natural history and science museums are a short walk away too.
I stayed in the Queen Elizabetg Suite which was immaculately presented and luxurious.
Very much enjoyed my stay, would recommend to all! N/A
- Sidhra (7/5): Did the job for its intended purpose, would likely stay elsewhere in future. - Stayed at The Gore for one night due to its convenient location for a concert at Royal Albert Hall. It was easy to locate using Google Maps. We were upgraded from a cosy double to a superior double room on arrival. The gentleman at the front desk offered to show us to the room (which was not required, and so we were shown to the lift instead) and provided information on the complimentary items (milk, tea and coffee). Breakfast was offered at a discounted rate, although we did not use this.
The hotel has a traditional boutique style, with artwork, framed mirrors throughout the hallways and tapestries along the staircase. The bed and bedding were comfortable, with lighting turned on before our stay. As the building is older, the flooring throughout the building and room was creaky and slightly uneven, which we figured would be the case but is worth noting for future guests. Lovely, thick dressing gowns in the bathroom, slippers with padding and plenty of towels provided. A few toiletries by Penhaligons.
We were aware that a 5% service charge would be applicable upon payout, regardless of whether additional services were used, having seen this mentioned in previous reviews. The staff member at check-out clearly explained the charge, confirmed we were happy to pay it and advised that it contributes towards staff and service. For anyone booking through Booking.com with Genius discounts or credits applied, it is worth noting that the 5% service charge is calculated using the overall booking value rather than the reduced amount personally paid after Booking.com contributions. Minor issue at check-in; a staff member had difficulty locating our booking despite both first name and surname being provided. Another member of staff checked the booking confirmation on my phone against their system and located it without issue. The situation itself was not a concern, however hearing “Are you sure?” afterwards came across slightly odd.
The room upgrade was appreciated, however the superior double was still very compact. The room photographs on Booking.com appear to make the rooms look larger than they are in reality. Room also smelled musty. The bathroom was (as expected) old, with the shower having poor water pressure - but I can see these are in the process of being renovated as per responses to reviews.
There appeared to be a noticeable amount of dust around the canopy curtains surrounding the bed, which caused repeated sneezing. The room would likely benefit from a more thorough deep clean.
While we were aware of the 5% service charge in advance, it did feel unusual that the charge applied regardless of whether any additional services were used during the stay (I'm aware that responses state it can be removed but let's be honest, who would really ask?). This was not a major issue, but it stood out further when compared with a stay at One Aldwych the following week, where the overall level of service was considerably more comprehensive. During that stay, we also received a room upgrade, *all* in-room snacks and drinks (of which there were many) were complimentary, and an automatic turn-down service was provided while we were out in the evening. Housekeeping refreshed the room despite minimal use, including resetting the bed and curtains, placing slippers by the bedside, providing fresh truffles from the chef and even drying down the shower after use. In comparison, that level of attention and service felt more aligned with the purpose of an added service charge.
- Marie (6/5): Everything about this hotel was wonderful apart from our bedroom - Great location
Old world charm
Great restaurant Our bedroom was too small, cold, outdated,
And Impractical
- Bowen (9/5): - The location is good, especially you are going to Royal Albert Hall, just a few minutes' walk. The hotel is beautiful and staff is helpful. The room is clean and the bed is comfortable.
- Robert (10/5): Cool place, good value for money and close to museums, Kensington palace,Harrods - Older style with some character, not a boring sterile modern hotel.
Great breakfast selection with good food to set you up for the day exploring.
- Matthew (10/5): We only stayed one night and didn’t have breakfast but loved the hotel. Didn’t like the fact a service charge was added - The decor and location for the Royal Albert Hall were both superb. Nothing.

- NomadicMurrays (9/5): Delightful. Lovely old-style grandeur and comfort with a very friendly, warm and professional team - The second room was really lovely. I wasn't keen on the first rooms bathroom, so they moved us to the Judy Garland Suite. The rooms, like the hotel, are old world velvet and four posters. Real character and old-world charm. The staff were amazing and genuinely lovely. From Samuel (master mixologist and drinks artist) in the bar to Julian on the desk, breakfast team et al. Also, the very best location if you are attending events at the Royal Albert Hall and around Kensington. Sadly, some partygoers decided to continue in their room at 4am on our checkout day. The front desk dealt with them but not before they woke us. Being an old building, the creaking and shaking reverberates down through the floors.
- Monica (10/5): -
- Stewart (8/5): Brilliant, comfortable - Location Heritage and quirkiness
- Charlotte (9/5): Great location and staff - The location was excellent for the Royal Albert Hall. Staff were fantastic, so helpful and welcoming. The bar had a lovely atmosphere in the evening and great cocktails The bed was quite short. My husband is 6foot and was longer than the bed
- Kathryn (4/5): Not quite what we expected - Room was small but pk The reception staff and porter were very grumpy on our arrival and quite rude. We said we weren't planning on eating and drinking in the hotel and therefore didn't want to pay the requested £50 hotel so they removed the mini bar from the room.
The room had tea and coffee but no biscuits for what we paid we were disappointed.
- Daria (9/5): -

- Philburn (8/5): A very special stay - Very spectacular, gorgeous hotel with amazing character and history. Just need a tad more worktop/table space is my only criticism, only 1 dressing table to put everything on.
- Jahlin (9/5): -
- Eleanor (9/5): Would stay again, thank you! - Beautiful rooms/property and very helpful staff
- Daisy (9/5): -
- Tracey (10/5): Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, wish we could have stayed longer. - The location was perfect as we were visiting the Albert Hall.
We were upgraded to a suite which was amazing.
The bed was so comfortable, we slept so well.
The staff were really friendly.
The room was spotlessly clean.
The breakfast was lovely.
Best hotel we’ve stayed in for a long time.

- Anne (5/5): -
- Darren (10/5): Lovely Hotel - Location Decor Scrambled egg was poor
- Deborah (9/5): - Per me The Gore è casa ...
- Marcella (10/5): - Perfect for an evening at Royal Albert Hall. The room was small but comfortable, the bathroom was of generous size in comparison!
- Therese (9/5): -
- Richards (10/5): -
- Celia (8/5): Could have been outstanding. The little touches special but such a major disappointment when shower didn’t work. Not muc - Authentic Shower didn’t work!
- Jo (10/5): We had a chilled stay, across the road is Hyde Park, and The Royal Albert Hall. We were well looked after by the staff w - I loved the style of the hotel. The room we stayed in was gorgeous. There’s nothing I didn’t like, it was all amazing
- Richard (10/5): The Gore will be our future preferred London hotel. - Welcoming and well located in a very calm part of London. Staff were very friendly and capable. We will undoubtedly stay there again on our next trip to London. Nothing
- Rafael (10/5): - My home in London 🥰🥰
- Alexander (10/5): -
- Kay (8/5): Very pleasant - Great location for The Royal Albert Hall Bar was very busy, we couldn’t get a seat so didn’t actually use it.
- Shane (7/5): Nice hotel but too pretentious for us - The room faced the street and had an excellent aspect. It wasn't large so, as usual, 2 suitcases open on the room took up most of the space. The position. on the street opposite the entrance to the park and a very short walk to the Albert Hall and Monument, was super for our goals - that was being able to walk a lot. Being close to the parks would also be great for children as there is plenty of space and at least one playground we saw. Its a fine balance between old world style and trying too hard. It is Kensington, so perhaps people staying in that area expect that "effort" but we found it too much and uncomfortable. We would not stay there again, despite the closeness to the parks, and would try to find something less pretentious.
- Fiona (9/5): Excellent hotel and friendly staff highly recommend - Lovely hotel and friendly staff, location was excellent for Royal Albert hall, everything was clean inside and out, room was very comfortable with everything you needed. Nothing
- Julian (8/5): Excellent locations and great hotel - All good Nothing
- Stuart (4/5): Pictures online are very deceiving - The breakfast was excellent Cleanliness. Tired and needs a good clean.
- Liz (10/5): -
- Jason (7/5): Good but requires improvement on bar service - Convenient for The Royal Albert Hall The bar team were understaffed and disorganised on an event night at The Royal Albert Hall

- Crillys (9/5): Lovely short stay and convenient for museums. - Amazing staff, helpful and polite. Great breakfasts. Clean comfortable and in a great area. Slightly longer walk to the tube than some hotels, but that did not bother us. Our room was rather small, but luxurious none the less.

- Cara (10/5): - We were traveling by bicycle and wanted to spend a few days in London. The Gore was the only hotel we could find that provided a secure bike storage and we are very glad we stayed there! The staff was fantastic, especially George who helped us take out and lock away our bikes each day.
For those not biking, the hotel is very clean and in an excellent location; I highly recommend it!
- Wendy (6/5): Comfortable - Well positioned, comfortable Lots of extra service/facility type charges. - please just charge more for the room/drinks/food and drop the extras. The extras leave a sour taste in the mouth.
