- Patrick (9/5): Top - We stayed at The Counting House from 24 to 28 April (4 nights) and had the Angel room. It’s a lovely, spacious and very tidy room with a comfortable double bed. The bathroom was also large and well laid out, with a shower, sink and toilet. A small detail, but appreciated: plenty of hooks for towels and jackets. The room had a fridge and a safe, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. We had no problem storing our clothes and suitcases — there was plenty of space. From the moment we arrived, the staff were genuinely friendly and explained everything clearly. Housekeeping was excellent: the bed was made neatly every day and towels were replaced when we wanted them changed. Breakfast is served in the pub on the ground floor. Again, a warm welcome and a really nice, generous breakfast in a great setting. The pub is also a great place for a drink and dinner — we ate there twice and enjoyed it both times. The location is a big plus: right in the Bank district, close to St Paul’s Cathedral and very near the Underground. At night it was wonderfully quiet — we didn’t hear a thing and slept very well. All in all, this hotel is absolutely worth recommending, and we’d happily stay here again. All was good!

- Tim (4/5): Overall, the property feels overpriced and misleading, lacking the basic amenities, comfort, and atmosphere you would ex - Room was nicely presented It’s advertised as a hotel, so you would reasonably expect a certain standard of basic facilities, particularly given the price. Unfortunately, this was not our experience. We arrived on a Sunday to find there was nowhere to get even a simple coffee or snack, as the pub was closed, and there were no alternative options available on-site. There was also no inviting lounge or communal area to relax in, which meant we were effectively confined to our room for the duration of our stay. To make matters worse, the room itself lacked any outlook, with the window facing directly onto a wall, making it feel quite closed in and unwelcoming. We had booked for two people and were advised that the bar fridge would be stocked with items available for our use. In reality, it contained just a single can of water, which felt misleading and disappointing. Overall, the property lacked any real atmosphere or sense of hospitality. The reception area in particular felt more like a basic hostel setup rather than a hotel, which did not align with how the property is presented or priced.

Wir hatten ursprünglich für 5 Nächte gebucht zu einem Preis von £ 1250 und haben noch um 1 Nacht verlängert, wofür wir £ 600 zahlen mussten, was mir vollkommen unverständlich ist. Ich hätte hierzu gerne eine Erklärung.

- Mark (6/5): We'll not be rushing back. It's a long way short of South Place Hotel service, standards and comfort - Location was very good - we chose it for that reason specifically. The room was spacious with a comfortable sofa and came with complimentary drinks (orange and apple juice and some still and sparkling water). The bathroom was very nice and the bed was very comfortable. Some milk was also provided which was nice. I ate in the main bar (tables at the upstairs dining area close quite early). The main course (crab linguine) was delicious, as were the triple cooked chips. This is not a cheap hotel - with high price comes high expectations. It was very very noisy through the night, constant noise of large quantities of bottles being emptied amongst other noises (including the lift) - this meant that our sleep was very disrupted. Small things matter - no bedside lamps, no kettle, although the coffee machine did provide an alternative (but not hot tea temperature water), tv remote control (missing back cover) and was temperamental. We had to wait at least 10 mins at check-in as the one person on reception (it is just a one person reception) was on a very long call seemingly trying to offer transport advice (not booking someone in/or out). We'll return to staying at South Place Hotel which for a similar (if not cheaper) price we get amazing service (and check-in), rooms are extremely comfortable and spacious, bathrooms are amazing - it is silent and dark through the night, thanks to electric blackout blinds and soundproofing - as well as having plenty of dining space that's open late.

- Samhep (10/5): A quirky little gem of a place, that is excellent value for money! - excellent choice for breakfast. comfortable rooms, we stayed in a twin room and it was spacious. considering the rooms are above a busy and noisy sports bar our room was quiet, with no noise leaking through. really nice location. can't think of anything negative to say, we really enjoyed our stay. the only quibble was we booked a twin room, and when we arrived the room was set up as a double, we informed the staff and they remade the room accordingly.
- Erea (10/5): Una joya oculta - Si te gustan los edificios historicos y con encanto este es tu hotel. En plena zona de bancos y con el Fotum & Masons al lado, tiene una ubicación fantástica. Sin duda lo que mas nos gustó fue el personal. Eagle fue encatadora, y María tambien. Ambas chicas de la recepción fueron sumamente atentas y simpáticas con nosotros. En el pasado, tuvimos mala experiencia con el hotel viajando a Londres, y ellas hicieron todo lo que estaba en su mano porque esta vez no hubiera sido así. Ha sido una experiencia de 10 que no olvidaremos! Del cuarto decir que es silencioso, que la cama era muy cómoda y que nunca tuvimos frío en la habitación. Todo muy limpio. Cuando vi la entrada del edificio, con esas escaleras empinadas y esa moqueta tan fea que parece que está sucia(pero no es sucia, es el estampado). Por un momento pensé: dios mío! Otra vez un hotel de mierda por la pasta que vale??? Pero una vez nos dieron la habitación y accedimos al pub donde desayunar y tomar algo, me di cuenta que era un detalle que podía obviar.

- Silvia (9/5): - Sehr gute Lage und absolut ruhiges Zimmer. Wir hatten ein Zimmer gegen den Hof. Super Badezimmer und Dusche. Uns hat auch die Atmosphäre mit dem Früstück im Pub gut gefallen. Die Dame tagsüber an der Reception war wortkarg und nicht besonders freundlich. Wir hatten ein Superior Doppelzimmer mit Kingbett gebucht. Das Bett war aber nicht Kingsize (höchstens 160cm breit). Auf unser Wunsch hin bekamen wir dann ein anderes Zimmer mit einem richtigen Kingsize Bett. Matrazze war zwar ziemlich durchgelegen, wir konnten aber gut schlafen.

The breakfast was really nice and choice from full menu. Close to trains, bishopsgate and London Bridge. Complimentary drinks. Beautiful building and bar. No plug socket next to one of our beds. I like to charge my phone overnight near the bed as an alarm.

- Christopher (8/5): Fantastic location, quality, staff and definitely gives value for money. Would go again in a heartbe - Quality, location, staff, VfM Understandably constrained by an old (but stylish) building. The lift is small and the stairs twisty. Fine for us but one to consider for those less physically able.
