- amandacB6362IA (10/5): Vacation after the vacation - When we arrived at the hotel no knowing what to expect, we were greeted at the car door like royalty. As we entered the lobby I was blown away by the ambiance that made me feel like I was back on the island in Mexico I had just departed from. DJ was our concierg and so professional and delicate. He treated us as if he knew us a lifetime and knew just what a group of three middle age ladies preferred when it came to hospitality. I wish he would the it into my suitcase. First, he poured us a glass of champagne to welcome us which was great fully appreciated after a 40 min drive. We were slightly early for check in and he was willing to care for our belongings and offered us complementary bicycles to stroll the Santa Monica strip while we wait. It was priceless. The hotel totally wowed us at arrival and it got better by the moment. Our room accomodations were immaculate! Double doors and white marble floors from the entrance through the bathroom. Everything was so clean and very well designed. We were celebrating my birthday so we chose an ocean view room and were able to have a toast sitting in the comfort of our hotel and watch the sun set over the horizon. Our bedding was clean, crisp and so comfortable. To be honest, we felt right at home. If you are a stay in kind of gal, the there's a dainty cafe downstairs serves a nice breakfast and a few other delightful bites. Initially I was concerned about prices, but I can honestly say that I got lots of bang for my bucks and would definitely recommend this property if nice is what you like. The hotel is ideal for travel in Los Angeles, and offers the kind of atmosphere you want for either business or leisure. The rooms was well appointed, and whilst we were on the non- Ocean side, the view still took in much of the west of the city. The staff were first class as always... A special shout out to Luis and BJ who made us feel welcome every time we arrived back at the hotel, and made an extra effort to welcome our 6 year old. I've only once previously had a room issue at the Viceroy, and it was promptly fixed. It's because of the service we keep coming back.

Cabanas are so expensive for absolutely no reason. Wifi sucked.

We received excellent service from John on check in and check out, he went above and beyond to make our stay special and is a real credit to the hotel, reflecting Viceroy Santa Monica's high standards and excellent service. We really appreciated the welcome drink on arrival after a long journey and also the late check out when our flight was cancelled. Our room, 418 was lovely with THE most comfortable bed and huge window with sliding doors where we could see the ocean. Coffee machine was provided on request, lovely toiletries, fluffy dressing gowns and free bottled water all were nice touches that made our stay great. Food and drinks in the Sugar Palm were also good. We would definitely stay here again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others.

Their best recommendation was an amazing driver/tour operator Chuck, a Santa Monica local who arranged an amazing tour for us. I’d investigated the options to hire an Escalade myself, taking into account all the insurance waivers, fuel etc it actually worked out not much more money to have Chuck drive us for a whole day in an amazingly comfortable SUV. He was an absolute treasure, professional, helpful and a genuinely nice guy. He also does airport pick ups that drop you to the actual terminal not the transit area. 5* service all round.

From Ed at the valet to John and Edith at the front desk, I was treated with the best type of hospitality, honest, genuine and exceedingly kind at every turn. They even made sure to give me a great room away from the noise of the streets so I could sleep, knowing that it was a grueling work trip. The bar was no different with Dora, Chris and Alfredo being very professional and helpful at every turn, they really keep the restaurant and bar in the best shape, perfect at every turn, attentive in every respect. Head chef Johnny Marin is another gem who never ceased to disappoint during my visit. Housekeeping was just as impressive with Ignacio being like a personal concierge, always ready to fulfill any professional request at the drop of a hat. The women who work there were no less impressive and some of the hardest working housekeepers I have ever met. BJ and Alex are some of the best welcoming committee/Bellmen I have ever experienced, knowledgeable and unbelievably helpful (they know Santa Monica and the surrounding areas like no one else) truly great men. Dyami runs the place and was an amazing contact, not to mention very kind to give up his time to discuss future bookings with my collogues and their contacts for possible future business, along side his very helpful sales team, including Ryan. Leslie in PBX was a real treat, she answered every request without hesitation and was always willing to help at any time in the morning (also a great one for wakeup calls no matter how early). Chris in PBX was great as well. Matt and Garrett at the front desk overnights are definitely the unsung heroes of the place, infinitely knowledgeable and endlessly patient, they really keep that place a safe haven/oasis even in the middle of of the night and at a moments notice. The entire team made my stay effortless and enjoyable. I worked in hospitality for years and am aware of how difficult it can be and the team at Viceroy were/are impeccable in every respect and rockstars at every possible angle. I've never seen anyone do it better. It was a pleasure staying with them and my only regret is that I couldn't stay any longer.

PJ helped us with renting bikes and grabbing our bags - a total breeze! Warren was a sweetheart during the entire stay as well. What really sets this place apart, is the staff. They are genuinely some of the friendliest people we’ve encountered. Cant wait to come back!
