- Yonomusiki (10/5): A Quiet Evening by the Canal - My stay at the Hilton Amsterdam was brief, as I was visiting the city for business and only passed through for a night. Still, the restaurant by the water and its evening view left a lasting impression. The outdoor terrace is particularly beautiful. From there you can quietly watch the canal flowing beside the hotel. The atmosphere felt calm and almost contemplative, very much in keeping with Amsterdam’s understated charm. The room itself was neat and comfortably aligned with the Hilton standard. One detail I particularly appreciated was the desk in the room. For someone traveling on business it was surprisingly practical. I often need to spread out quite a number of documents while working, and the desk provided more than enough space to do so comfortably. It felt almost like having a small office in Amsterdam, which I found very satisfying.
- philc273 (8/5): Looking forward to the reno - I stayed two evenings just before the hotel closed for renovations on the 23November. I believe it will reopen in 2027 or 2028. I enjoyed the stay and it seemed quite nice overall even though it is about to undergo a major renovation. I had lounge access which was alright, food options were limited for evening, but the breakfast was great in the main breakfast / restaurant. The gym was large but is not owned by the hotel so you had to navigate some logistics if you wanted access when the gym was no longer open (closed early afternoon weekends). The hvac system in the room didnt work properly but the hotel got me in room heater and a fan. Windows could open but I had to get them unlocked by maintenance. There was a bit of drama at check out , I had requested a late check out which was granted to two pm (I got this in at check in), but at 1230 the staff started harassing me to get out in spite of my late check out and the keying of my key card in the system. I was given ten minutes to clear out and the situation was really unpleasant. I voiced my concern at check out and the GM made things right by me and apologized. It was a very unusual circumstance but in the end it was handled well. I hope to come back when the hotel reopens!

- Alexe (5/5): Never return or recommend Hilton Amsterdam, very poor experience! - good location. For a 5-star hotel, it is disappointing not to have slippers or a bathrobe. The towels are so thin that after one use they are already too wet to be used a second time. There are no other essential bathroom amenities, and there is no complimentary bottle of water in the room. Breakfast included tomatoes that were not fresh and the coffee was of poor quality. Overall, we will not recommend or return to this hotel in Amsterdam. We are usually loyal Hilton customers, but in Amsterdam we will not return to this location.

- 234gl (10/5): Fabulous - We were a family of 4, two adults and our two daughters. We had two rooms with connecting doors which was absolutely perfect for us. So hard to find hotels who can accommodate families with children that are beyond travel cots or bunk beds. The hotel is located in a lovely area, quiet and away from all the hustle and bustle. The staff were so friendly, particularly the door man whose name I can't recall but he has been there over 30 years. So helpful advising us of the quickest route to the airport by bus, what a revelation that was, so easy !! Breakfast was superb and the waiter we had in the area beyond where the breads are located was amazing, I"m afraid again I didn't catch his name. Cannot sing the praises of the hotel more, spotlessly clean and everything you expect from a Hilton. I understand they are closing for 2 years for a full refurb which is sad for the staff and I hope they all manage to find employment.

- arihant90 (2/5): €500 Charged Without Informing Us – Very Disappointing Experience - We stayed at the Hilton Amsterdam Apollolaan for three nights with our family (three rooms: a suite, a family connecting room, and a king deluxe room). Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. While in the lobby, our 1-year-old accidentally touched a decorative lamp placed right behind the sofa. The lamp fell and broke — an innocent accident that could happen to anyone. Without informing or discussing it with us, the hotel charged €500 directly to our credit card. We only discovered the charge afterward, with no prior notice or explanation of the cost. Even after reaching out, the hotel refused to reconsider, showing little empathy or understanding. For a Hilton property known for hospitality, this handling was extremely disheartening. We expected much better communication and care for guests, especially families.

- 2bz2p (10/5): We loved our stay. Enjoy it while it lasts! - We enjoyed our weeklong stay at the Hilton Amsterdam. It was our first visit to Amsterdam. Given the residential neighborhood where this Hilton is located, we struggled between staying here vs. another property closer to city centre. This property is next to a canal and offers a relaxing ambience, away from the hustles and bustles, which suited us well when we wanted some down time. We were glad we chose to stay at this Hilton and would do the same if we visit Amsterdam again. The hotel lobby was inviting and all areas were kept tidy and clean. The connecting rooms we booked were spacious for the four of us. Our rooms were on the 8th floor with one of the rooms offering floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the canal. The executive lounge at this property was a nice perk with a wide selection of beverages (yes, Heineken also!). However, the choice of warm snacks was somewhat limited but it was still fine to be able to refuel just a little after a long day and before dinner time. The walk to the closest tram-stop only took ~7 minutes for a very quick ride to the museum quarter or ~ a 15-minute ride to city centre. We also rented bicycles at the concierge desk and picked up / dropped off our bikes by the front entrance of the hotel. The rental price was very reasonable comparing to local bicycle rental shops, especially given the convenience factor. We also really enjoyed the delicious and well-organized breakfast buffet. The staffers at the restaurant were attentive. Separately, we were able to meet up with some friends for drinks at the Garden Terrace one afternoon. We had a table right by the canal and everyone had a wonderful time! Last but not least, this Hilton is expected to close and undergo a renovation starting very soon so consider staying here to keep that special memory before it's too late! A thumbs up will be very much appreciated if you find this review informative. Thank you.
- C5977TQjoshs (10/5): Charming hotel with neat history - This is a great Hilton property in a convenient location that is very well managed. The hotel sits with-in proximity to good dining and area attractions and museums. This is an older hotel but is very well maintained and a really neat experience if looking for a throwback to the 1970’s style. The hotel also has the history of hosting John Lenin and Yoko Ono in 1969 and today’s still has their bridal suite room on the 7th floor. The hotel has a really neat bar called the half moon that also serves food plus the flagship Italian restaurant, Roberto’s is very good and suitable for both business and personal dining. Robertos is transformed each morning to host a wonderful buffet breakfast that is very well presented. Perhaps the most exceptional thing about this hotel is the teamwork and attention to excellence displayed by the staff. The Consignors, Hari and Nico have a long history with the property, as do many of the other bell staff, and they are all super helpful. The front desk agents like Alexia are also very helpful and it’s obvious that their general manager, Massimillio, is a great leader for the Hilton’s exceptional team. The only issue to be aware of is that the property is slated to be closed for 2 years for an extensive renovation. It is hoped that the owners of the property and the Hilton organization can find a way to somehow preserve the wonderful charm & nostalgic vibe of this property and even more important, find a way to retain an excellent team of Hilton employees, perhaps through assignments at other Hilton properties, to share their best practices and perhaps pick up new ones, with an option to return to the Hilton Amsterdam when reopened.
- DD17DD (8/5): Mixed review - To start. Not the warmest of welcomes from staff - our chap seemed very robotic & glum. No smiles at all. We had an 9th flr executive room & club room access- Not the biggest room. Bathroom was ok. Although with fixed shower gels etc they were all impossible to get, when sitting in the bath! Lighting was not enough in bedroom. Lack of storage. I would not be happy with the storage, if we were staying here longer. We managed ok for 4 days. Although hubby didn’t unpack jumpers/ undies from his case as def Not enough wardrobe space- 5 hangers each & tiny! NO CHEST OF DRAWS. Only one draw under the bedside cabinet & worktop space next to the TV. Not ideal. Club room however, was a v.good extra to have. Note - Alcoholic drinks served only from 5-7pm with two hot terrines of snack type food. Then a table of cold food. Limited but enough as a filler after a long day out. Two coffee machines & a choice of Prosecco, wines/beers - something for all. Water / soft drinks too. Great views from the 10th floor. We used it each day, for an hour. Location - ok 15/20 min walk to main town. 8 mins to trams. Highly Recommend Van Dam vibes restaurant nearby walk and don’t recommend Roberto’s in the hotel. Half Moon bar was lovely. X

The rooms are spacious, quiet, and well-maintained—perfect for relaxing after a long day. One standout feature is guest access to a proper fitness center next door, which is well-equipped, though the posted hours for hotel guests are a bit limited. However, I learned at checkout that if you ask at the front desk, they may be able to arrange access outside of those hours—something worth inquiring about. The hotel is conveniently located about a €10 Uber ride or an easy 25-minute walk from the RAI Convention Center. There are also plenty of charming cafés and restaurants nearby, making dining out a breeze. I would definitely stay here again.

(Sophie in the executive lounge was also very friendly and informative. ) The location was ideal. It is walking distance to the Van Gogh museum and Rijks Museum as well as many others. There is a very quaint shopping area with excellent restaurants also in walking distance. The aspect I liked about these shops is that they were more local and less commercial/tourist. As for the room (we were 820) it was clean, spacious and well maintained. We had a view of the city and it was beautiful. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!!

My girlfriend said when I moved in my sleep the bed would rock and wake her up. This didn't happen in the other hotels we stayed at during our vacation. The room had a canal view, but it was in a remote part of the city and I didn't see any boats on the water. Not worth paying extra for. Wi-Fi was good and reliable. The bathroom was clean and spacious. There was a 220V outlet, but it had a cover that made it hard to find at first. Breakfast was very good. Lots of tasty selections and custom orders were available such as omelets. The staff was super helpful and everyone spoke English. The hotel is not near anything interesting. It's a long walk (15 minutes) to a tram, and the area is very residential. Very few shops and restaurants. No nightlife. It makes some sense. The hotel is very big and tall, and there's no way the city would allow it to be built in the historic downtown. As I mentioned in the beginning, it's a great choice for a business travelers. Easy ride to/from the airport, and it's a Hilton. I often stay at a Hilton on business. However, it's not so good for a tourist that is looking for the Amsterdam experience,

When I complained, I was told the hotel is closing in two months for a massive renovation. If you already reserved a room here, cancel it and wait until the renovations are completed. The rooms, beds, towels etc. are really that bad. Note: this hotel is a good 10-12 minute walk to the tram, so not the most convenient hotel around if you want to be near the downtown action.

- ncmeyn (10/5): Spectacular Stay in every way! - Spent 2 nights at the Amsterdam Hilton and truly enjoyed every moment of our stay! The staff were incredible- beginning with Fausto at the Front Desk who went above and beyond helping us the moment we arrived and through our entire stay. Diogo (Valet/Bellman?) and Fausto (Concierge) were also super helpful as well as Massimiliano , Dy-Angell and Sophia. Our room overlooked a charming canal with just enough activity to keep the view interesting. For diamond members a well-stocked and well serviced, executive lounge is available on the top floor of the hotel. Breakfast buffet is very complete- and tasty- with attentive servers. Hotel is nicely located in a quieter area of Amsterdam- allowing us to relax and gain our momentum after a long International Flight. We also enjoyed a beverage and bite to eat at their Halfmoon Lounge which was terraced and overlooked the canal. Being older travelers and arriving a bit tired we truly appreciated the very warm and caring service we received throughout our stay.
- truthfulluxurytravel (10/5): It’s a yes from me - Look I really like this hotel it might not be everyone’s first choice but it’s defo my top 3 spots to stay in Amsterdam and here is why … When you’re at the “older” hotels in Amsterdam they tend to be in historical old buildings. All well and good for a vibe but what that actually means is every room is different - which I hate. This Hilton you have a standard - great size rooms, very big windows you can open. You know what you’re going to get for which I like in the dam as service and luxury if not a strong suit of the Dutch unfortunately. I love how it’s close to airport and the walking distance to vondelpark and the very lovely cute neighbourhood of Oud Zuid. Only downside I would say is the gym wasn’t open on a Saturday afternoon / evening as I think it’s operated by a 3rd party. Otherwise I think it’s a great choice in the Dam.

Super helpful and friendly staff. - Hilton Amsterdam is an amazing hotel with comfortable, luxurious and spacious rooms. It was at a walking distance from my office and I loved the neighbourhood. The service here is excellent. Roberto and Gabriele at the reception desk were super helpful and accomodating. They helped me with an early check-in and gave me complimentary water bottles for my entire stay (which otherwise are chargeable). The rooms here are big and luxurious. The staff is warm and friendly. Overall great place.
- Brinks_Denmark (10/5): Good stay at Hilton Asterdam - We had booked 3 nights, and when we arrived at the hotel on Sunday at 3 pm, the room was unfortunately not ready for check-in. We were politely asked to wait about 30 minutes, and we took the opportunity to park our car in a parking garage not far from the hotel. Lotte from the reception called after the promised 30 minutes, and informed us that the room was ready. When we had to wait for our room, we were upgraded (without asking) to a better room with a view of the canal. We had booked accommodation with breakfast, and we were very politely received every morning we stayed at the hotel. So much praise to the staff who worked the morning shift. The hotel is located in a very quiet neighborhood, and it is only about 2.5 km. to the city center. We will definitely choose Hilton Amsterdam next time we visit the city.

- varnava (8/5): - I found it frustrating at times that even as a staying guest i could not find space to sit in the bar as it was all reserved.On one of the days of the stay there was no room in the bar, the terrace and the coffee shop shut at 10.30am! After making this point to a member of staff miraculously a space was found...just not good enough for the guests

- Mohsen (5/5): Acceptable but not what expected - The room was spacious. Quality of food was good and breakfast was good too. The executive lounge was very nice although with limited options of food The receptionist was not friendly at all. We did not felt welcomed at this hotel. The furniture in room were old and damaged and the hotel needs renovation.

- Sarah (4/5): - Very inconvenient if you’re looking to be in central Amsterdam. Have to uber and they’re unreliable. Reviews stated it was family-friendly, but this is a very basic hotel. Breakfast was fine. Rooms are hospital-like. AC didn’t work and they stated Maintenence fixed it, but they never did. They made us wait until 3 PM for rooms after confirming guests had departed at 12 PM. Front desk staff seem miserable. Concierge was helpful in organizing taxis. 45 minute walk to main city.
