- Guest (6/5): Good location but needs modernisation - The location was convenient. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and varied. My room had no natural light and it was sweltering hot. The aircon couldn’t cope with the heat despite being turned to the lowest temperature. There was no USB socket to charge my phone, only an IPod dock!!!

My partner had to use the room for work so wifi was excellent and all was completed successfully. Close to cafes, restaurants, sights, trains/tubes, parks, theatre land so excellent all-round. There was nothing to dislike.

- Kirsty (8/5): Really lovely stay, location and staff are excellent. - Chico was excellent, really helpful and gave us a great tour with interesting history on the hotel. Check in was really fast and the room was ready early which was great. The beds were really comfy, and the room a deluxe double was very big. Great location for all the sights! Staff really friendly and helpful. The bathroom could have been a little cleaner (hair on the wall) and the walls were really thin, we could hear everything from next doors occupants, not great when trying to get to sleep. The breakfast for what you pay was quite sparse and you had to try and get someone's attention to order your coffee and tea, even though they do say someone will come to you, they never did.

Jeśli przyjedzie się wcześniej przed planowym zameldowaniem tzn 15:00 można zostawić bagaż, taka sama sytuacja po wymeldowaniu (doba do 11:00). W pokoju 660 były mole, wieczorem wylatywały z różnych miejsc. Duża ilość personelu w recepcji sprawiała wrażenie odbywającego się tam spotkania towarzyskiego.

The staff were brilliant, very friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Room was comfortable and I was delighted with the view of the London Eye and river through the trees.

- Darcy D (9/5): Pleasurable stay, excellent location - This is a rare splurge, but I wanted to stay someplace really nice for my last two nights in the UK after a seven-week holiday. It’s a classic hotel, a grand lady. The breakfast buffet is wonderful. Something happened in the lobby that really made me think about entitlement and social status: I sat reading in the lobby after breakfast, doing some people watching as well. A man in a chair near me was getting so much attention – “sir, can I get you a drink” and several visits by hotel staff. So I thought that people in the lobby would be approached with a friendly hello, and “may I get you anything.” In truth, I could not catch a single eye from anyone. I felt invisible in that lobby, while the man in the Zildjian hat was being fawned over. Who knows? Perhaps he was not well. Housekeeping to the room was inconsistent. Water bottles were not replenished in the complementary, mini fridge, and caffeinated coffee pods were put in the decaf slots in the Inn room coffee machine. There was dust along the bedstead.

- Samantha (8/5): - There are only 3 small lifts, 1 of which was out of service. Whilst these things happen, and size restrictions are understood for the age of the building etc, it meant there was a queue to get in the lift on most of the occasions we wanted to use them. We had to wait for several passes of the operating lifts before we could get in, everyone was complaining and the whole lift experience - whilst necessary with luggage / injuries etc - was very, very cramped and unpleasant. There was a staff luggage lift that could have been manned for guest use at the busiest of times but this was not made available. For the quality of the hotel, there should be some effort made to help ease this situation.
- Louise (6/5): Disappointing experience! - Unfortunately, there was an issue with the electrics in my room which meant none of the ceiling or wall lights could be switched off. I was informed that the previous guest staying in the same room had experienced exactly the same issue, so it was disappointing that the room had been allocated again the following night without the fault being resolved. I was also told that the hotel was fully booked, meaning there was no option to move me to an alternative room. As a result, I didn’t get a wink of sleep due to the extremely bright spotlights positioned directly above the bed, which ultimately caused me to develop a migraine overnight. To the hotel’s credit, they did reduce my bill by 50% upon checkout. However, given that I effectively had no sleep at all and felt awful the following morning, I do feel the night should have been complimentary. This was particularly disappointing as I’ve stayed at this hotel many times previously and have always had positive experiences, which made this situation even more frustrating.

They make sure you have the best possible stay. - The comfortable beds, the delicious breakfast, the view of the park, river and the London Eye, the location, the luxurious sheets and even great pillows - staying at this hotel was the best decision! Mahid at reception and Javier at the Concierge Desk, both went so far above and beyond to look after us so incredibly well, making sure we were treated very well and had the best time. I can't begin to say how much they made our stay wonderful and memorable. I have stayed in some of the best hotels around the world and the bar has definitely been raised. It is going to be very difficult to stay at any other hotel in future, for we have been spoilt now!

As an old building it had an odd layout and old lifts which I think added to the charm. I found it odd that they closed the hotel bar at midnight - even though I was not bothered I would assume a 4/5 star hotel would have someone on all night! There were guests that were being told to finish up which I found odd for an establishment of this quality. Only noticed as we checked out the bar before bed.

Was ich jedoch als sehr unangenehm empfunden habe, war die Situation bei der Ankunft: Obwohl ich meine Reservierung bereits über Booking.com gemacht hatte, musste ich vor Ort nochmals meine Kreditkarte belasten lassen. Das habe ich nicht erwartet. Wenn ich nicht ausreichend Geld auf dem Konto gehabt hätte, hätte das zu einem Problem führen können. Genau deshalb macht man eine Reservierung im Voraus, um solche Situationen zu vermeiden. Außerdem hatte ich ein Deluxe-Zimmer mit zwei Betten gebucht. Stattdessen wurden einfach zwei Einzelbetten zusammengestellt. Das entsprach nicht meiner Erwartung, und insgesamt war das Zimmer (Nr. 111) für mich eine Enttäuschung. Ich habe nicht den Eindruck, dass dieses Zimmer der Kategorie „Deluxe“ entspricht. Es gab zudem keine Aussicht. Beim Öffnen des Fensters war es sehr laut, und der Blick ging direkt auf eine Betonwand. Ein weiterer negativer Punkt war die Sauberkeit und der Service: Das Zimmer wurde während meines Aufenthalts kein einziges Mal gereinigt, obwohl wir ausdrücklich darum gebeten hatten. Abends mussten wir selbst nach frischen Handtüchern fragen, da niemand gekommen ist, um das Zimmer zu reinigen oder neue Handtücher bereitzulegen. Außerdem war der Behälter für die Bodylotion leer.

The door man in particular achieves a wonderful balance of professionalism and informality which is a perfect representation of the rest of the hotel. I look forward to my next stay. Nothing.

Room was a good size and bed was reasonably comfortable. The shower was crap. Nearly made us change hotel. Hand spray did not work at all. Showers was lukewarm on second night. Had to get maintenance to come and fix aircon, froze on first night.

- Nilufer (1/5): Very bad experience and customer service!! - The location Everything!! They were overbooked so they couldn’t give us the room we had reserved and paid for! Refused to fix the situation whilst we were there and then pretended that the room was in fact in the same category as booked despite it not having a bath (that was in the listing description) and looking completely different!! The staff were also rude and obnoxious! The first night we were given a room that had dirty damp towels in the shower and no view!! Despite me booking a room with a garden view for 4 nights!! The only compensation provided was a 50% off of the first night’s start!!

No still water in room, holes in pillow case, stains on carpet. The shower was awful, wasnt able to move higher up, flooded the room and powerful. I was placed in an accessible room which I hadnt requested, a proper shower would have been much better. On checking out I was given an invoice for a completely different room.

- Adrian (9/5): Small minuses, otherwise good option - Almost everything Not so efficient at reception, for checking in, always trying to give a lower grade room than you bought. Ussually, water is missing from minibar and they are bringing when you insist, looking like a favor, which is not. They are also playing with your room temperature. It was freezing outside, so we put in the evening on heating, low fan and 24 degrees. At 3 am, I was forced to get up, while reception changed settings, into cooling, high speed fan and 18 degrees. You cannot change it back from room, you have to call reception.
