• Tracey (8/5): Great location, friendly helpful staff, but beware which room you book. - So convenient for Buckingham Palace. The non-courtyard facing bedrooms are lovely, more modern and spacious. Some of the bedrooms are very small and facing into an enclosed courtyard with noisy air con unit and trellises right in front of the windows.

• janice (10/5): Superb stay - The enviromentwhich is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The chairs, china and even gold taps in the bathroom. The food is really good in the English Grill for dinner and breakfast. Afternoon tea very good. The staff are beautifully presented and very friendly as well as attentive. We slept very well. When we arrived my grandson was given a lovely teddy bear dressed as a guard. Shower and shower gel are good. I loved getting fresh milk and lovely cakes in the room. Everyone were so helpful. The location is superb. Not far from Victoria station, directly next to Buckingham Palace with an easy walk down the mall. Green park underground station is 10 minutes walk so it is easy to get around. Nothing.

The decor was great& it felt like the room was soundproof. We Had cookies & complimentary water every day. The location of the hotel was fabulous as I was attending the Royal Garden Party in Buckingham Palace & Ruben’s was a short walk away from the Palace. On the evening of the Royal Garden party I had a lovely note & cakes from the hotel making my stay even more special. The staff were excellent and the doorman Robert was exceptionally fantastic. On the date we were leaving he got a taxi for myself & my friend. He opened the doors took our suitcases and put them in the taxi. Exceptional service . The whole experience at this hotel made our stay even more special. Would definitely love to return there again in the future. I liked everything.

We got a call to check about our request for the room to be cleaned as we had forgotten to remove the do not disturb sign. It was a pleasant surprise. • PATRICE (8/5): I enjoyed my stay except for the minor stressful moments when communicating with the hotel staff. - The hotel's location is truly exceptional. It's a 5-minute walk from Buckingham Palace and very, very close to the heart of London. The hotel facilities are very good : room, cleanliness, decorations, with a special mention for the welcome products. None of the many people at reception knew a word of French. None one was willing to make an effort to try and translate what I didn't understand. Sometines, the staff at reception showed their annoyance. No help was given to carry my three suitcases down to the sidewalk. I had to call a taxi myself to get to the station.

The hotel has lovely rooms and excellent staff, Robert in particular, who works the door and lobby, is so gracious and helpful and has a great smile! The entire staff was incredible and truly were the highlight of our visit at The Rubens. The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are small as you would expect from a true older English hotel. Having said that, the rooms were very comfortable and welcoming. We would like to offer a special recognition to Shristi @ the front desk who went above and beyond to assist with anything needed. She also made it a point each day to inquire about our days activities as we had shared with her some of our plans for London. Her genuine interest and kindness as it related to our visit were so appreciated and a highlight of each day. We would also like to offer a special recognition to each of the gentleman at the front door who remembered and greeted us personally and warmly each time we entered and left the hotel. Their genuine kindness was wonderful. The location of The Rubens was absolutely perfect and made it easy to get anywhere with ease. We would definitely return to The Rubens.
• 273loisl (10/5): Outstanding stay at Rubens at the Palace! - We’ve just returned from a trip to London. I can’t completely express how wonderful our stay at The Rubens at the Palace was. From check in to check out, every single staff member we encountered was incredibly gracious, helpful, thoughtful, and considerate. John, the concierge, has been there for 26 years, and is extremely knowledgeable.I wish I could remember the kind, thoughtful young woman who helped with check in, check out, and a few times in between, I have mobility issues, so at times, needed assistance. Help was forthcoming before I was even aware I could use help. A newer staff member, Adam, was helpful in getting me around, never making me feel like an inconvenience I was fortunate to have met Leo and Charlie, who do an amazing job making sure everyone is well taken care of. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner in The Curry Room. The food was wonderful, service was terrific, and the room itself was beautifully decorated. This hotel is located across from Buckingham Palace, making it very convenient to see the changing of the guard. St. James Park is also close by. We got tickets for Hamilton ( an excellent production) which was just a couple minutes walk from the hotel. This hotel was one of my all time favorite experiences!

• 959tracyl (10/5): Perfect experience! - The Ruebens sits directly across from Buckingham palace in a safe and fun neighborhood. It's beautifully decorated and very British. The staff are among the best in all my travels. Warm, welcoming and helpful. Breakfast is bountiful and tasty, served in a beautiful dining room with superb service. The room was lovely and large with a king bed. When you go, please tell Pascal the doorman we said "hi!" Amazing fellow, you'll see!!

The room the hotel gave us was really a shame !!!!! super small, dirty, old, smelly. It looked like a basement as the only small window the room had was covered by something and you only see the wall !!! no air circulation !! the bathroom was really old, dirty and in need of renovations . The bed was super small. I reserved this hotel because it is ranked as a 5 star hotel but this is totally wrong !!! I travelled with my sister and we asked for separe beds weeks in advance, we arrived in the morning to do the check in and pay at 10 am and we got the room at 5 pm so the staff had more than enough time to provide the room we have booked but unfortunately the hotel decided to give us that horrible room that it looks like a 2 star hotel ! immediately I went to speak with the receptionist ( I don't remember her name unfortunately but she has blond long hair and she seemed well experienced )who was in charge in that moment and she was really rude and surprised by my complain. She expressed no intention to collaborate to find a solution and insisting saying that the room had nothing to complain about and that it was not their responsibility if we didn't get two separate beds. After repeating my discomfort about the unfair situation and dissapointment , she only proposed to give us another room with one double bed only !!! (during 4 nights )with the additional cost of 25 pounds per day considering having a special price for us ! Of course I accepted paying more as it was completely unacceptable to stay 4 nights in that tiny room. Since that day, no-one from the staff came to ask us if we were satisfied or not even a formal apology about the bad management of the hotel and situation . The hotel also is located at the end of the Buckingham Palace for your information if you are dreaming about having a full palace view . you can only see the entrance to the horse stable .

• 515petek (10/5): Great stay, incredible staff and location - We stayed at the Rubens last week and I would highly recommend it for anyone visiting London. We have a family of five, so had two rooms next to each other. The rooms were clean and comfortable and better than I expected. The temperature controls worked great (like to sleep with it cold, and it was unseasonable warm in London) and we could hear no city noise. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast each day was delicious and the service was professional and attentive. The entire staff made you feel welcome and they could not do enough for you. The doormen would run into traffic to make sure your cab or Uber pulled right to the front of the door. Everyone was friendly and attentive. I would like to specifically mention Jan (doorman) and Alicia (front desk) who went out of there way to make use feel welcome and attended to -- but the entire staff was amazing. The location of the Rubens is perfect. You can easily walk to Buckingham Palace (across the street and around the corner), Hyde Park and St. John's Park, Westminster Abby, the London Eye, the Churchill War Rooms, and Victoria Station -- which is key for the Underground circle and district lines as well as the tour bus terminal (5 min walk) so you can grab the bus to sites like Stonehenge or the Warner Bros. Harry Potter tour. We booked our stay through Costco Travel, which I thing provided some added value, but between the service, atmosphere, and comfort, I think it would be hard to beat The Rubens. Overall, I would definitely look to stay at The Rubens again if I return to London.

They make it friendly, helpful, will support every request and combine to give a service with genuine care and warmth. My 6th year staying and I will return again next year. Nothing. Some rooms are smaller but this is more than compensated for in the amenities available.

• bluephilip1967 (8/5): Amazing staff at this hotel - The staff at this hotel are absolutely amazing. They couldn't be more efficient, helpful and friendly. Alicja at reception was the perfect example of this. She checked us out with efficiency and plenty of smiles and friendly chat. The guys at the New York bar were all superb with faultless service and the same can be said for the numerous staff at breakfast, we were made to feel comfortable and welcome and the quality of the cooked breakfast was excellent. (It's nice to have black pudding cooked nicely rather than either underdone or cremated!) The only downside to this hotel and the reason I've deducted a star is the size of the rooms and bathroom. For the money we are used to more space in both amenities and despite our room being a Palace Mews view we were unable to move the net curtains out of the way to enjoy it unless you stood there with the nets in your hand so it made the view a bit pointless! It's a shame as like I said, the staff throughout are truly 5*+

The whole staff were so friendly, kind, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The location is superb! Only minutes away from Buckingham Palace. I was treated like royalty when the staff saw that I was about to run the London Landmarks Half Marathon. They were just SO lovely. We are definitely coming back! 🤩

Our host, Mohan, was fantastic — so warm, knowledgeable, and engaging. He shared some brilliant tips (especially when it comes to cooking curry, which I’ll definitely be using at home!), and really made the whole experience feel special. The tasting menu was absolutely fabulous, and the wines paired with each course were outstanding — everything complemented each other perfectly. It was a really memorable experience from start to finish, and we’ll definitely be coming back for more! We got a little goodie bag to home with. Thanks Mohan and to the chef at The Curry Rooms!

We booked a family suite and had a king bed, a pullout sofa bed for one child, and they even brought in a cot for our other child. The beds were comfortable, made up very nicely, and suited everyone. The highlight of this hotel is the staff. JT, Raj, and Pascal specifically went out of their way to talk to our kids, ask about their adventures, help us figure out where we were going, and always so positive and helpful. The location is great. We also enjoyed the breakfast each day and had dinner one night in the bar area, which was great.

Also the concierge desk was so helpful. The food was awesome. I am a vegan and the restaurants had food for me to eat that was very tasty. We got the breakfast included package. The staff and kitchen were so accommodating. My husband is not vegan and said the other food was wonderful. We had a wonderful experience. Our room was a little small but served it purpose.

From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, and they really made us feel welcome throughout. The room was beautiful, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of options, and the location next to Victoria Station made everything so easy. Would definitely recommend! Nothing

• Y9365JSll (10/5): A Stay Fit for Royalty - Amazing Hotel Service and Location - Book The Rubens at the Palace immediately - it's five stars all the way. We are avid travelers, particular about accomodations, and this has easily become one of our favorite hotels - we miss it already and look forward to visiting again! Even before we booked this hotel, we reached out with inquiries and received prompt responses from the staff. I booked this hotel for the variety of unique experiences they offer - check their website for the full listing. My daughter did the Pastry Chef Experience for kids with staff member Sophie. As an aspiring professional chef, my daughter had the best time doing this experience (which is complimentary with the room booking - we just reserved it in advance.) When we initially arrived at the hotel, Jan greeted us at the door and ensured our luggage was taken care of. John took our luggage up to our room as we were checking in and pointed out particular things in our room when we entered (including the child's-size robe and slippers that were in the closet for my daughter) - such wonderful service! During my check-in with Alija (who was very friendly), Ellie greeted my daughter with a separate kids check-in, where she gave her the details regarding the upcoming Easter activities the hotel was hosting for their younger guests My daughter was also gifted with a plush, which she highly appreciated. We stayed in a Superior King room, which was spacious and clean. During our stay, housekeeping was VERY prompt with service. In addition to the high level of service at this hotel, the location can't be beat. It is across from the Royal Mews and steps away from Buckingham Palace, which was very convenient for us as Buckingham Palace is one of the stops on the hop-on, hop-off buses. The area is nice and low-key, despite its proximity to a major sightseeing landmark. There were countless restaurants and stores (including the Royal Mews store and the Buckingham Palace store, both on Buckingham Palace Road) within an easy walk from the hotel, even in the short distance between the hotel and Buckingham Palace. I also highly appreciated the 24-hour room service - on our first morning in London, I ordered a traditional English Breakfast via room service and it was wonderful. This hotel is a great value for the location, service and the unique experiences they offer. I have already recommended this hotel to others and will continue to do so. I would literally book another trip to London (all the way from the west coast of the United States) just to be able to stay at this hotel again.
• Christian (3/5): Avoid . An absolute disaster - Extremely disappointing! The hotel is very outdated, old and far off a 5 star standard. The rooms were terrible, we had to change twice, in the 2nd one we could not even take a shower. The water temperature kept alternating between hot and cold so it was impossible to shower. The rooms are extremely small and dark, like a prison, run down furniture. It’s only superficially clean. The entire hotel especially bathroom needs renovating. This hotel pretends to be a five-star hotel, but in reality, it’s an absolute disaster. Clearly mismanaged. Avoid it!!

Perfekt Lage Zimmer war so klein, dass man nicht mal Platz hatte um 2 Koffer ordentlich auf zumachen und sich dann noch zubewegen

• Katherine Anne (10/5): Definitely worth staying at! - The location was excellent. All the areas within the hotel were beautiful, clean and easily accessible. The beds were a little on the firm side for me but everything else was perfect.
• Pamela (9/5): Elegant hotel with stylish interiors and super friendly staff. - Staff were brilliant. Very friendly, helpful and efficient. Excellent location within walking distance of a lot of London’s main attractions. Elegant bar and restaurant. We felt very at home. We were in room 444 and there was the constant hum/noise from an extractor or air con unit outside the window all night.

• keri (8/5): High expectations were partially met however some aspects were disappointing - Fantastic location with a beautiful character to the hotel with in the main lovely welcoming people . Breakfast was lovely and rooms clean and comfortable. Our check in was pretty matter of fact with the individual on reception quite blunt . Room available time was not forthcoming which hindered our plans . Basic room accessories were sparse and not really replenished during a two night stay . We would have expected better .

• Gemma Broadley (3/5): Poor experience. - The location was good for what I needed. The Executive Single room upon arrival had a terrible smell of cigarettes, although it was clean the overriding smell of cigarettes was overwhelming. The room is located on the corridor and the headboard adjacent to the cleaners cupboard. The room was extremely noisy due to corridor noise, which I do understand and accept somewhat but the main issue I had was how noisy the adjacent cleaners cupboard was and from early hours in the morning until checkout the cleaners were in and out of the cupboard. Not their fault as they need to clean, but the sound insulation in this room is terrible, and should be looked at. As a consequence I didn't sleep well at all, nor did I feel rested. Also, I had previously asked for a late check out at the time of booking which was accepted but when I asked to confirm this in the morning at Reception, I was told they would call me back to confirm - they didn't call me back till 12:00 so I'd already packed and about to vacate the room so did not benefit from having a rest in the morning. However the worst part of the experience was when I checked out and I gave the receptionist the feedback who advised that she would get her manager to call me to offer a formal apology and look at maybe providing a part refund (I have name of individual spoken to); yet to this day nobody has called me. Poor service. The breakfast was nice but overpriced. Due to this experience, I wouldn't stay here again.
