Ciara (5/5): Average & pleasant as it was my birthday but not worth the hotel room price unfortunately - Food very nice we ate in restaurant. Breakfast v nice too. Very friendly & helpful staff. Grest location. We think the room needs upgrading a bit. Seemed musty especially the chairs & curtains discoloured kind of shabby. Definitely not worth what we paid. Also the toilet was dripping all night & the toilet door handle broke off! Which we reported. We were not asked how our stay was when checking out. We had an incident at dinner whereby both myself & my sister received burns on our hands when handling a spoon in the mashed potato pot. We were given ice which helped. We were offered free drinks & dessert which was good. The staff handled very professionally to be fair.

I can’t actually find 1 fault with this hotel, not even a small issue. Just amazing. We stayed there over Easter weekend & we arrived back to our room that night to find a beautiful Irish handcrafted Easter egg & a hand-written Easter card. Wow

Everyone was welcoming and attentive, but I especially want to recognize Padraig, who truly stood out. His enthusiasm and deep knowledge of Irish history made the experience that much more memorable. He went above and beyond to share insights and stories that you simply wouldn’t get otherwise. It added a personal and authentic touch to the stay. I would absolutely return.

I thought the whisky selection in the Horseshoe Bar couldn’t be beaten…. Our evening meal in the Saddle Room was without doubt 1 of the best meals I’ve ever had… 10 oot of 10 for the Shelbourne & can’t wait to visit again!!

Super clean and has great bars and restaurants inside. Breakfast is amazing. Fantastic rooms, beautiful hotel, great service - we will recommend and return!

quizzev (10/5): Excellent!! - When my son and his fiancee got engaged on 4th February 2024, they knew that The Shelbourne was the hotel they wanted for their wedding reception. They got married on 2nd April 2026 in City Hall and welcomed their guests for the celebrations in The Shelbourne Ballroom. As a family, we stayed in the Hotel for 3 nights to make the most of the occasion. From check-in to check-out, the staff went above and beyond for the happy couple and ourselves. The welcome at Reception was so warm and that set the tone for the whole stay. Cathy (their wedding planner), the hotel's florists, concierge desk, bar and restaurant staff and doormen couldn't have been more helpful with organising taxis, room service, making sure boutonnieres for the gentlemen and corsages for the ladies in the bridal party were ready for transportation to the civil ceremony. My new daughter-in-law was so delighted with the effort the Hotel put into making her feel so special on her departure with her bridesmaids and the welcome they received on their return to the Hotel as a newly-married couple was something they'll never forget. The drinks flowed and the food at the drinks reception was perfect, the wedding meal was delicious and the staff were so professional and courteous from start to finish. It was the first time a lot of the guests had been in The Shelbourne and several people remarked on the splendour of The Ballroom and how beautifully decorated it was. We have stayed at The Shelbourne Hotel in the past, enjoyed afternoon tea in The Lord Mayor's Lounge on a couple of occasions and the No. 27 bar is one of our favourite places as a family to celebrate momentous occasions or just pop in for a drink, so we knew we would be well looked after - but this stay was memorable!
I5834RVsiobhanm (2/5): In no way did this feel like a 5-star experience, and sadly, based on this, I wouldn’t return. - I booked two rooms at The Shelbourne Hotel last year to celebrate my husband’s 30th, and unfortunately the experience was really disappointing. I had contacted the hotel months in advance to arrange something special in the room, cake, balloons, anything to mark the occasion, and made it clear I was happy to pay extra. I followed up again the week of our stay and was reassured it would all be taken care of. I even checked again at check-in to be absolutely sure. So you can imagine my disappointment when we walked into the room and there was nothing there. While my husband was in the shower, I rang reception. They asked what time we were heading to dinner and said they’d organise something while we were out, which I was really happy with. But within five minutes, there was a knock on the door, my husband answered it, and a staff member handed him a small plate with two desserts and a card. It completely ruined the surprise and, honestly, I was fuming. After all the planning and follow-ups, it felt like a real letdown. In no way did this feel like a 5-star experience, and sadly, based on this, I wouldn’t return.

kosherf2026 (10/5): Old World Charm - A fabolous hotel in the centre of Dublin. Shelbourne has an authentic old world feel, from it's piano bar at the entrance to it's horse shoe bar in the basement. A wonderful breakfast and amazing staff. I was exhausted having arrived from a long haul flight from Kennedy to Shannon and a pit stop tour in Ennis, Moher and Lahinch. I hope to return some day Dublin 💋
LeeScottRob (10/5): Elegance at is best - What a beautiful hotel — luxury at every turn and truly a privilege to stay in. It really feels like Dublin’s jewel in the crown. Check-in was delightful, and I was generously upgraded to a very spacious room from the one I had originally booked. The bed was heavenly with high-quality linens, endless fluffy white towels, a luxurious bath, and an enormous wardrobe. The room — and indeed the entire hotel — feels like stepping back in time, with stunning period décor at every turn. The bar area is a real highlight. I would go as far as saying it must be one of Dublin’s most elegant places for drinks and food. The décor there, like the rest of the hotel, is simply breathtaking. I also loved the thoughtful touches throughout the hotel, from the huge fresh bouquets of flowers to the beautifully presented takeaway tea and coffee station displayed in silver urns. My only regret was not staying for breakfast — but that just gives me the perfect excuse to return.

Dr C (6/5): Disappointing - The location is fantastic The reception staff in the pool area are wonderful I was over charged 300 euro that they took straight out of my bank account At 400 euro per night I expected a nicer and quieter room I wasn't expecting listening to power tools at 7am My room was dark and tiny The check in staff are efficient but every one of them got my name wrong The mini bar was locked but there were still items on my bill when I checked out despite the fact they knew I couldn't open it The duvet is a few centimeters thick - the first night I was freezing The shower head doesn't move so unless you want to be drowned... The breakfast pancakes are four inches wide at most - I had to go out and get breakfast, despite ordering room service

Nice staff in Saddle Room restaurant at check in and the younger wait staff. Clunky pre-arrival experience when requesting parking support from guest relations. Restaurant (Saddle room) is dated. I've stayed at this hotel many times before and would rate it as a decent 4 star hotel. Guests should have the ability to book reservations in the bar over visitors.

Ann (6/5): This is more like a 3 star hotel apart from the location and the foyer. Full of passing trade - Dinner and service on Saturday night was very good Breakfast and service not 5 star. Everyone waiting on their pot of tea or coffee and their toast we had to ask 3 times but the table next to us just gave up and left. Very little butter out for bread. Tables too close in Saddle room. Pool poor and lifts their and changing room need updating more like a 3 star. Steps up and down to dressing room from pool . Yesterdays papers only at reception and no where to sit to read as they closed residents room Sunday morning and on the Saturday the saddle room so full with non residents my husband had to go to a pub to watch rugby.

The room which we got an upgrade for my husband’s birthday was incredible. Breakfast was amazing and breakfast staff so friendly and helpful. Walking distance to absolutely everywhere in the city. Make sure walk around St Stephen’s Green.

C4095LCkarls (10/5): Yet another amazing experience, only this time I got to share it with family. - Such a pleasure as always. I stayed at the Shelbourne for my mom's 70th. We had several rooms and the team could not have been more helpful. Between getting flowers and champagne to her room when she arrived, helping us cut up her cake into pieces (including individually wrapping each piece which was amazing) and then helping celebrate her birthday breakfast the next morning, it was a really great stay. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay truly exceptional. As a native Irishman now living in the US, and someone who has stayed here many times over the years, it’s always a pleasure to return to Dublin and stay at the Shelbourne Hotel. Its location near Grafton Street and Trinity College never fails to slow the pace of the day and remind me how much I miss living in Dublin. See you again next year.
Z9370DSlaurar (2/5): Go the the Merrion instead for half the price…it’s pretty but it just looks that way - Very disappointing stay at this hotel. Purposely booked in what was supposed to be a luxury experience and was “basic” and transactional. I was in town because my son had emergency hospital stay. My first room smelled like a restaurant exhaust, my second room did not have heat (I had to fill the bathtub with hot water to keep the room warm). When I had to extend my stay by 2 days because my so was sick the price for th extra 2 days doubled ! The restaurant feels like a cafeteria with crystal chandeliers and the only authentic vintage items are in the facade of the first few rooms. If you are a corporate American with an expense account and money doesn’t matter…go for it. If you are looking for personalized service and an authentic Irish experience … go to the Merrion instead for half the price.
Gloria (8/5): - Beautiful spacious room, very attentive and friendly staff, delicious buffet breakfast. Great stay in such a historic and grand hotel with bed turndown service and china cups for tea/coffee at breakfast. Our bedroom was on the 6th floor and it was quite a trek (several corridors and 2 lifts) to the swimming pool and with no directions. Currently only the pool is open but we were already informed about that. Also we could not obtain a dinner menu for the Saddle room ( even with helpful staff) and as it was not displayed anywhere and we had no booking we went into town for dinner.

K7579PInoeld (10/5): The touches in your room regarding your sheets been turned down on your return to the chocolates on your locker. - My Wife & I returned to the Shelbourne for our 5th time celebrating her birthday & as usual this Hotel did not disappoint with the staff going above & beyond to make our stay a memorable one. It was a magical time with the Christmas decorations still up. The Food is excellent & cleanliness exceptional & it’s the small touches to your room that make it in my opinion the best in Ireland. We will be back for sure 👍👏
