Guest Reviews
- Amanda (9/5): - It is a beautiful building with a pleasant host The only negative was the uncomfortable bed and mosquitoes that somehow got in through the night
- Beate (9/5): Gerne wieder - Cosimo war wunderbar. Das WLAN
- Jana (10/5): - Außergewöhnlich !! Freundliche und warmherzige Aufnahme und sehr ruhige Unterkunft!!
Bestes Frühstück und tolles Ambiente!!!!
Vielen vielen Dank!!
- Jakub (10/5): -
- Sebastian (10/5): Best B&B we have ever been, will definitely return, already recommending it. - Everything. The house is the former home and studio of an art professor, painter and sculptor, Milo Melani, and is currently maintained by his son Cosimo and his wife. Every room has Melani’s art works, as well as the stairs, the patio, the lobby. You can see Melani’s library while having a really nice breakfast prepared and served by Cosimo himself. Location is excellent, it’s a 3 minute ride from a free parking area (which also has a nice bar and a great restaurant), and next to the tram/metro station which goes right into Firenze’s downtown. Nothing. We loved everything.
- Susan (10/5): A truly unique experience staying in this historic home..highly recommend, you won’t regret your stay here. - Cosimo and Antonellas property is wonderful..the history of this home is amazing and Cosimo will tell you all about it when you visit. Fascinating!
- WU-WANG (10/5): - Everything. One of our best accomodation experience. Nothing.
Super recomendo
- Ursula (10/5): -
- Dee (10/5): I would stay again they made you feel like a friend, nothing was to much trouble. - the property was historically beautiful, nature all around you, warm and friendly hosts, very interesting decor, very creative and artist, loved being in nature while so close to the city, highly recommended, the hosts couldn't have been more attentive.
- Raf (10/5): - We very much enjoyed our stay and Cosimo and Antonella are super hosts, we found our home away from home in Florence!
- Georgina (6/5): Ok - Lovely breakfast, good quality bed linen , comfortable bed Too far from tram stop up a steep hill and dark narrow road to walk up late at night . Only suitable if you have a car
- Kalliopi (10/5): -
- Michael (10/5): Familia, traditione, tuto bene Cosimo - It is not a Hotel or Pension, it is family nothing
- ANNE (9/5): It was a memorable and very good experience. - The breakfast was excellent and personally prepared by the owner. He also went out of his way to drive us to the tram stop when we were carrying our bags after checking out. The house and the grounds were beautiful and had an interesting history. The location was several kilometers outside the main city and 25 minutes from the nearest public transport. However we enjoy walking and the owner was exceptionally helpful in offering to drive us to the tram stop.
- Aleksandra (8/5): I will remeber that breakfast for the rest of my life. The best omlette in Italy! - The atmosphere of living in lovcal’s house. Amazing breakfast set for us in private room. Nothing
- Aleksandra (10/5): Historical gem on the hills of Florence - It was pure perfection- location, breakfast and accomodation in a house with such long history. It was clean, quiet and serene. Like we were transported in some other period in time. Mr. Cosimo is a great man and a great host, it was an honour to meet and speak with him.
- Lorena (10/5): -
Petit dej copieux.
Grazie mille per tutto, Cosimo e Antonella.
- Pål Stian (9/5): -
- Maureen (10/5): - The location, out of the city, yet a short journey into the city by car. Cosimo was very helpful providing information on accessing the city by car and tram, parking areas, good restaurants and gelataria
Lovely building, quiet, and great breakfast.
- BEATRICE (10/5): -
- CHARLES (10/5): -
- Jimbob (10/5): - Cosimo was an excellent host. He was friendly, helpful, and went out of his way to make us feel at home. ll Monasteraccio was full of wonderful paintings, statues, and other artwork.
The room was large and clean, with a working AC unit. An exceptional value
Dear Cosimo, we wish you all the best and stay healthy! Da gab es nichts.
- Saiwan (9/5): -
- Camilo (8/5): Art-lovers B&B just outside Florence - It's a beautiful house, very clean and with good comfortable beds and A/C in the room. For art lovers this would be heaven as the house has an impressive art collection. A good breakfast was offered every day on the patio. Our daughter enjoyed the backyard pool. Located 5 mins away from a tram station which gives easy access to downtown Florence. The bathroom is outside the bedroom, and not air conditioned, so it gets hot. No toiletries are provided. The road to get to the hotel is up the hill and very narrow (two way but only one car fits) which made it stressful to drive. Not super kid friendly as there are delicate art pieces all around.
- Joe (10/5): Exceptional - The host was the nicest person I’ve ever met. Would love to stay here again. 10/10 recommend.
- Peterson (10/5): Our first trip to Florence was wonderful in large part due to staying at this location. The host was exceptional and we - Away from the busyness of the city
The exceptional artwork
Waking up to the sounds of doves cooing
The beautiful landscape
- Andrew (9/5): Lovely, quiet location with great breakfast. You need a car - Beautiful setting in the countryside. Very peaceful. Lovely host and great breakfast! Good parking Our room had a private bathroom opposite bedroom door (we knew that when we booked) 5 mins by car to Tram station into Florence or 25mins walk down hill. So at night, as we intended to have a drink we had to get a taxi back from centre (approx 25 Euros) you can’t really walk back as dark and hilly
- Candace (10/5): Personal family run gem is so special it will make you want to come back again and again. - The chaotic city was complimented with the quiet retreat at the end of the road. The owners are beyond attentive and kind. The breakfast is fresh and personal with endless coffee and delicious food. The rooms are well appointed and the house is filled with family artwork and memories of hundreds of years of life well lived. This place is a gem. We took three days to get used to the very narrow streets. It was very scary at first but just takes some time. Avoiding rush hour in Scandicci and outside the ZTL is critical.
- Claire (10/5): A Peaceful Florentine Escape with Exceptional Hosts - Antonella and Cosimo were truly wonderful hosts during our stay with them just outside Florence. Their home was a peaceful haven, a beautiful escape from the bustle of the city. Our room was lovely, the setting serene, and the house itself is stunning, filled with fabulous artwork.
Cosimo prepared delicious breakfasts each morning and was such an interesting person to talk to, sharing stories about his own life, his creative work, and his father’s artistic legacy.
Getting into Florence was very straightforward just a short drive to a nearby car park right by the tram station. One tip: make sure to download the relevant parking app in advance, while you have internet access, as we found it confusing to pay on-site and it doesn’t accept cash. If you’re unsure which app to use, Cosimo can guide you.
This was the perfect place to enjoy the best of both worlds, easy access to the city, with a peaceful retreat to return to at the end of the day. Highly recommended.
- Yakov (10/5): A beautiful old plsce in the country nearby firenze - Dear Cosimo,
Thank you for your great hospitality. You make us feel at home Everything was perfecto
- Helen (9/5): Superb -
- Liam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anni (10/5): Exceptional - We really enjoyed the stay. Beautiful place, cosy and clean room and really nice breakfast with hot chocolate prepared for my son. Monasteraccio had a country-life feeling, but it was close to the city centre. Thank you for making the trip lovely.
- Mansur (10/5): Excellent authentic experience - The best booking stay I’ve ever experienced, very atmospheric and historic place. Founded in 14 century as a monastery, this used to be Medici land. A lot of beautiful paintings in the house, the location is a bit outside of Florence, but perfect with a car. Strongly recommend Maybe location, but with a car is not a problem
- Alexandru (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice and quite location
- Mario (9/5): Superb - Beautiful and quiet location, away from the city center. However, city center ia also easy enough to reach with public transport.
We also had a large, spacious bedroom and a small, but very functional bathroom and we also enjoyed our freshly made/baked breakfast. Cosimo is a great host.
- Xuechun (10/5): Unforgettable and warm experience, highly recommended - The house is located on a hillside, overlooking Florence, with beautiful scenery, which fulfilled my dream of experiencing Italian rural life. The house is decorated with artistic sense, with paintings and carvings everywhere, and the layout is warm and comfortable. The host is warm and hospitable, allowing us to spend a very wonderful three nights, which is an unforgettable memory. Highly recommended!
- Kuzminski (10/5): Beautiful home, outstanding hosts! - This beautiful B and B just outside of Florence is a fantastic find. Full of interesting artwork and extremely comfortable. The Florence hillside is very quiet so no problem with sleeping.
Wonderful hosts who really care. Fantastic home cooked breakfast included, Thank you Cosimo and Antonella, you made us feel like family! All great
- Andi-octav (10/5): Would definitively come back - Reviews are true. A great place to spend a few nights. Good breakfast, great coffee.
- Warren (10/5): All four of us had a memorable and restful stay. - An exceptionally quiet and picturesque property, with wonderful views. Cosimo and Antonella were warm and informative hosts. The breakfast was outstanding! Art works throughout enriched the experience. A short tram ride into the heart of Florence. The narrow, winding road down to the tram took some getting used to.
- Inge (10/5): The most breathtaking little B &B in Florence - Great place, interesting art works, and a very much caring owner There was nothing to critizise. All was perfect, I would go back instantly
- Diane (9/5): Lovely location - We really liked the location; away from the hustle and bustle of Florence and very peaceful. Cosimo is a great host and was very helpful when we needed to get to the rail station in heavy rain. Breakfast was very good. Whilst it might be easier to get to and from Il Monasteraccio by car, we used the bus and tram very successfully.
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional - Cosimo is such a fantastic host. He had already prepared a list of restaurant recommendations and public transport information on arrival. He personally cooked you breakfast each morning and even offered to do our Laundry.
The property has such a charm, very unique and unlike anywhere I have stayed previously - it’s filled with art. As the property is an older house and in some cases the bathrooms are external to your private room, it didn’t feel as private as a hotel experience. We knew this when booking so it wasn’t a surprise, just worth considering if you prefer more privacy or you’re a light sleeper.
- Madeline (10/5): perfect. so amazing - incredible hosts, incredible breakfast, incredible place
- Renzo (10/5): Stay surrounded by art just outside the artist’s city - This was one of the very best places we’ve stayed in. Beautiful building full of beautiful art. Would be hard to get to without a car but a perfect distance from central Florence.
Cosimo was fantastic, gave us brilliant recommendations and genuinely helpful tips.
Breakfast provided is a rarity these days but it was so nice to have a meal at a table in a home-like environment. I cannot recommend enough.
- Kejdi (10/5): A peaceful stay in the magical beauty of Tuscany - This magical place captivated us from the very first moment. The house, located in the hills of Tuscany, not only offers stunning views but also the authentic atmosphere of a historic monastery, where you can still feel the spirit of art and tradition. The interiors are filled with works of art – paintings, sculptures, and unique furniture, which add charm to every room.
Cosimo, the host, is a true master of hospitality – not only does he run this place with great attention to detail, but he also creates a wonderful, warm atmosphere. The delicious breakfasts were an unforgettable start to the day, and the house's location is perfect for those who value peace while also wanting easy access to the center of Florence. Just a short walk (or ride) to the tram stop allows for a quick and convenient trip to the heart of the city.
This is a place where art meets nature, and every moment spent here was a true pleasure. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique experience and relaxation amidst the beautiful Tuscan landscapes.
- Anna (10/5): it is a magic.... - It's a magical place. Full of authentic art - paintings, sculptures, beautifully decorated and furnished, wonderfully located. A kind and helpful host - thank you Cosimo. Delicious breakfasts. 10 is definitely not enough for this apartment nothing, absolutely nothing!
- Jane (10/5): Wonderful Tuscan experience - Beautiful house on the outskirts of the city. Not easy to get to without a car but it’s a 20 minute walk to the tram stop. Lovely breakfast on the terrace in the morning and the house feels very homely. Incredible art work in every room. It was very hot when we were there and there were a lot of mosquitoes.
- Magdalena (10/5): Beautiful Bed and Breakfest full of artwork - Beautiful and comfy rooms, super nice owner and delicious breakfast.
- Zoe (8/5): Very good -
- Priscila (10/5): We had a wonderful time - We absolutely loved the breakfast, the calmness and serenity of the place. The host was great and very helpful with everything. We were really glad we stayed there and had time to relax and enjoy ourselves.
If you are interested in art this is the perfect place to stay.
- Brejchova (10/5): The overall experience was amazing, very helpful staff. - Absolutely amazing everything. Very helpful and friendly owner. Breakfast delicious. Accommodation in old medieval house, awesome. Room and area clean. N/A
- Animusz (10/5): 10/10! - It's been exceptional! Honestly, the best stay we've ever experienced so far! It's not close to the city centre which we definitely liked, as it was peaceful and we could have admired the view over Florence from the hill where the house is located 😍 The house itself is very inspiring, full of sculptures and paintings, and authentic furniture from the past - I couldn't have asked for more :) Last, but not least - the fine breakfast - always fresh and homemade:) Will be back soon, for sure 😊
- Tracey (9/5): Superb -
- Henry (10/5): A Tuscan gem with wonderful hosts - Luxurious villa in stunning Tuscan countryside, at the top of a hill at the end of a road surrounded by vineyards, olive orchards, pomegranate bushes, and jasmine flowers.
Cosimo and Antonella's hospitality is second to none. They were gracious, friendly, helpful, generous with advice, and served wonderful nutritious and delicious breakfasts. To get to the villa, you need to climb a hill. So, you need a car, or a taxi, or good climbing muscles. We chose to walk up and down on each of 5 days.
If you need to be in the centre of the hustle-and-bustle of touristy Florence, this will not be for you. It is quiet, pastoral and an hour's walk to the centre or 40 minutes by walking + bus or tram.
We loved it.
- Anna (9/5): Superb -
- Nique (10/5): It was great. The host was very patient with us. We accidentally set it up to arrive very late, and on top of that we ca - The location! Away from city, more greenery Nothing :)
- Mary (10/5): Beautiful location, wonderful hosts, great information, impressive building with history. - The room was exactly as pictured, and the whole property is as amazing as the room. I wish we'd stayed here for the whole two weeks we were in Italy. We had a private bathroom across the hall. The owners are perfect and helpful. They had so much information handy for us as we arrived. Private parking behind a gated area. When we arrived, the wisteria was in full bloom and honey bees were busily collecting pollen, buzzing their little hearts out. The owners and past family were artists, and you'll see beautiful paintings and sculpture work throughout the house. Breakfast was great--eggs cooked as you like and lots of other choices too. Everything is kept spotless and comfortable. There is so much history here and the owner (Cosimo--spelling?) can give you a great lesson of the monastery you're staying in, which I believe is about 700 years old. There is absolutely nothing to complain about in this location, it's beautiful, great company, great room/bathroom, food, and you can sit outside under the pergola with your coffee and enjoy the serenity before heading into town for a busy sight-seeing day. The owner gives you a list of good places to visit/eat and a map. Nothing could have been better--this place was magical.
- Carol (10/5): Exceptional -
- Denis (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely and quiet. Friendly host.
- Katariina (10/5): Exceptional - An old house, with many works of art and an authentic atmosphere. In the morning, breakfast is served in the dining room. The owner is very friendly and sociable. He will also recommend restaurants where to go in Florence. A great place if you want to relax in peace and without fuss. Nothing to say, everything was good
- Richard (10/5): I will definitely recommend this villa. - Beautiful and close to Florence. Quiet and relaxing. Beautiful Italian breakfast.
I cannot say enough.
- Zuzana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): Beautiful surroundings and beautiful place to stay. Excellent breakfast and hospitality! -
- Benjamin (9/5): Nice stay and calm Accommodation - Calm location away from the city noise. Much art and nice house. No real bad thing: A little walk to the next public transport.
- Alain (7/5): Good -
- Ron (10/5): Wonderful place, great people and convenient. - Great location for getting into Florence. Short, but winding and narrow, drive to the tram stop.
Host was such a great guy. Very friendly, informative and interesting story on the artwork on the property.
Great breakfast out on the patio in the morning. The drive up is narrow and twisty.
- Mihail (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alina (10/5): Superb - Amazing place in a beautiful location! We enjoyed our stay. Thanks to the hosts for the warm welcome and interesting conversations!
- Regina (10/5): A very good stay in Firenze - Everything was perfect. The room, the bathroom, the house, the breakfast and Cosimo was always very kind and attentive. I highly recommend Il Monasteraccio for everyone.
(7/5): Good -
- Alex (9/5): Superb - Cosimo was very helpful host. Breakfasts were exceptional.
- Soh (10/5): Very family oriented and just awesome and comfortable - It is such a quaint and quiet sanctuary. We love that the house is filled with many art pieces which is just staying in a Art Gallery. Thank you to Cosimo, the wonderful host ! Not Applicable. This was our 2nd visit to the house. We have nothing but praises and gratitude!
- Clement (10/5): Highly recommended - Wonderful warm host, great stay, place with many art pieces, totally enjoyed it Nothing
- Debra (9/5): Excellent stay in an idyllic location just outside the downtown area. - Breakfast was great and the home was idyllic in its location up in the hills. Cosimo, our host cooked breakfast and made us feel at home and was very welcoming. We could have used an extra coverlet on the bed, but we had something with us.
- Friebel (10/5): Relaxing escape from busy tourist trips - Vey nice and friendly host. Cosy and authentic place, very quite and natural environment
- David (9/5): A great place to chill away from the main town - Half way through our trip around Italy we needed somewhere to relax and recharge. This was just the place and to have a pool for the end of those hot days sightseeing was superb. Cosmo was very welcoming and helpful. fantastic Mosquitoes in the evening but hey you are in the countryside
- Hanus (10/5): Amazing host, good breakfast, nice place! Feels like home! - Fantastic place, good value and an amazing host. We had some medical troubles and got alot of help and care from Cosimo, which we are very grateful for. Would especially reccommend to book this for couples.
This was also the best breakfast we had in our Italy trip! We booked this and didn't have a car. The walk is around 20minutes to the tramway. It's a nice walk, just be prepared for this if you don't have a car.
- Julie (10/5): Wish we were here longer to enjoy the grounds and the pool at night! - This family project was so unique! The breakfast was lovely as were the grounds on which we ate! So pretty, ancient, and quiet. Three generations of artists' works leave much to enjoy and consider. Be forewarned, driving up the hill to the monastery is not for the faint of heart! It's Italian hillside driving at it's scariest. Go slow and be prepared to back up if someone is coming the other way!
