Didn’t catch her name but one of the ladies on reception for check in was very kind to us. Great drinks from the bar too! Also had breakfast delivered to the room and it was delicious :) Couldn’t fault it!
- sheffjonesy (2/5): Worst hotel EVER stayed at - Absolute nightmare. The staff on reception know that the local authority undertake regular maintenance behind the hotel late at night. There was no warning and apparently there is NO-ONE from management to talk to at night! It was horrendously loud. I complained on the hotel site (local)and was then referred to their Head Office who then referred me to their complaints form. My reply from them, eventually, was that they couldn't do anything as we'd booked through Booking.com! To top it all off the side roads around the hotel are full of aggressive junkies. Give it a wide berth!

- Thundercat1234 (10/5): Great Dublin Base! - Our family of 4 recently spent 3 nights (2 rooms) at the Gresham. We arrived at the hotel from our overnight flights at around 10:30am and we were thrilled that one of our rooms was available for early check in (at no extra charge)! We were super happy to be accommodated and it allowed us to freshen up a little before setting out to explore the city. Breakfast was terrific. It was busy at times but manageable and well organized. We were very happy with our deluxe rooms. Nicely updated and we weren't bothered at all by the noise that some reviewers found with the non-carpeted flooring in the halls. Staff were all very friendly and helpful with suggestions and directions. Location was great, within easy walking distance to many attractions. We would definitely stay here again.

The bedroom we stayed in was well appointed with a bathroom as big as the bedrooms of some newer hotels. Beds very comfortable and first class breakfast. Pleasant stay and will be back

- GJKy (2/5): Never again - We were on a trip around Europe and this was our last stop. We stayed in excellent hotels along the way but this came to an end on staying at the Gresham. Very strange layout. To get to our so called 'deluxe superior room' which was no more deluxe than the man in the moon, we had to take an elevator to the second floor, go along a corridor, get another elevator back down again and walk along some depressing dark corridors to get to our room. Very basic bedroom, very grey with a mismatch of a colour scheme. The bed was badly made, poor quality linen. The view was the back of some old buildings. Poor soundproofing, you could hear every conversation going on in the corridor. Dreadful breakfast. Poor quality ingredients. The bacon was like chewing leather. The eggs were burnt. Horrible hotel. Would never stay here again.

- paulettep574 (10/5): Great Experience at the Gresham RIU Plaza - My husband and I enjoyed our visit to the RIU Plaza in Dublin. Being from the US we appreciated all the suggestions and advice from the staff. We were struggling with charging our devices and Yogi from the Gresham saved us. He hooked everything up and all was well. The hotel was comfortable and the food great. We highly recommend it to all.

- gfwturner (2/5): The Worst - The good: 1. The hotel is located right on O'Connell Street at a Dublin Aircoach bus stop from the Dublin Airport. Couldn't be easier to get to and from the airport. 2. The hotel was also very clean 3. It also has high end bathroom fixtures and hardwood doors. The awful: 1. This is the only hotel I've ever stayed at that made me change my WiFi login password once I checked in. Not a big deal, but a hassle. 2. This is also the first hotel I've ever stayed at where we dropped off our bags in the morning before the room was ready and they weren't in the room waiting for us when we returned in the evening. Another small issue, but a hassle. 3. All of the outlets are right above tables or desks. If your international adapter has plugs in the bottom, they won't work because they're blocked by the table or desk. There also weren't enough outlets.4. I've never seen this in any room I've ever been in, but there's a frosted window between bathroom shower & bed (see photo). The first problem is that any light in the bathroom during the night or morning will wake up a sleeper (and you can't turn off the light...see below). Second, you might not want to be in this room with either your children or your parents. You get the FULL SHOW from the bedroom as you can see the shadow of the person showering if you're in the bed (see photo). 5. The bathroom has a motion sensor controlled light that can't be shut off. If you go into the bathroom in the middle of the night, you're blasted with bright light and so is the sleeper. 6. I asked the hotel staff to see if this could be turned off. Crickets. 7. This hotel has rubber floors in hallway & room. Great for moving your suitcase around, bad for walking (see floor photo). 8. You might need a GPS & map to find your room. We had to take one elevator up two floors, walk along several corridors, then take a second elevator back down two floors. Completely unacceptable. 9. We could hear EVERYTHING in next room & hallway. The hotel says that they're following noise insulation requirements. Fantastic. That means nothing if you get too little sleep. 10. The couch is so uncomfortable that it's unusable. The cushions slope downward so you slide off towards the floor, and they are as hard as a rock (see photo). It's a sleeper sofa, which may work great as a sleeper, but it's not a functional sofa. 10. There are no water bottles. Instead, the hotel provides a tall glass carafe that won't fit under the sink spigot because they've chosen a very chic, very shallow sink. 11. The bathroom vent - an Vent-Axia fan unit wasn't functional which led to a very steamy bathroom. I wouldn't mention this as 99% of hotels don't even have fans, but if you have one it should work. 12. This hotel gets tour groups. As a consequence, the line for breakfast was so long that the 30 minutes we allotted wasn't sufficient to get a table and eat (see photo). The tour groups are so large that you can't expect a timely breakfast.
- keypr (4/5): All style over substance - I am not happy with the room during my recent stay at this hotel. The aircon was either switched off to save usage or it was faulty. I reported the issue twice at reception who said they would have maintenance take a look, it was never resolved, the whole stay the temperature in the room remained at 22° We had an extremely noisy road facing room so unable to keep the small window open during the right, we simply couldn't sleep, that coupled with a shocking creaking dipping bed akin to Dracula's coffin. The bed was shoddy, not even bothering to fold the sheets in, the duvet was too small for the bed (not that it was required with the room temperature). The hinge on the window was broken so the double glazing didn't close properly, rendering a very very noisy and hot stay! The floors are covered with nasty cheap vinyl flooring, which is fine if you are going to provide slippers. Complained to RIU on return whos attempted to gaslight me and tell me I didnt know how to operate the aircon was not acceptable. Stay on the otherside of the bridge this hotel is not worth it and the area is bandit country anyway

Well situated for walking around Dublin centre Cons: Quite corporate feeling. Lighting a bit dim (except in bathroom where it was very bright). Shower doors didn't meet properly so floor got wet when had a shower.

- aog59 (10/5): Would stay here again - Visited in February 2026 and had a very pleasant stay. The hotel was clean, the beds were very comfortable, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and welcoming throughout. The location is excellent, making it easy to get around, and breakfast offered a great variety with something for everyone. The only downside was people smoking at the front door, which wasn’t ideal when entering or leaving the hotel. Overall, a very enjoyable stay and I would happily return.
- ETinCA (10/5): Historic Gresham Hotel - This hotel is in a great location as it’s central to so much. We walked everywhere and took a cab if going far out (like to the Glasnevin cemetery and the Gravediggers pub). Yes, it’s a city and there are occasionally people asking for money as you walk down O’Connell (some junkies too as they are provided with assistance in front of the nearby historic post office). But back to the hotel: Clean rooms with housekeeping doing a great job. Quiet - we left before the 17th but the hall/floor we were on was almost silent save for the sound of seagulls (we looked out to apartments in the back). I will say that the halls/room flooring does not smack of luxury but it’s probably durable and easy to clean (not carpet). Comfortable beds, pillows and the towels were thick enough. Nice tea set up in the room. Breakfast included with the room and holy big buffet Batman! Any kind of breakfast item you could ever think of and constantly replenished by a large waitstaff. We ate in both dining rooms (preferred the one behind reception as it’s divided into smaller rooms). Staff - from security, front desk, housekeeping and restaurant, all were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
- MMBuist (4/5): Disappointing - The good things- Mostly good staff service Comfortable bed Good selection at breakfast However- the hotel appears to have been bought by a Spanish chain. They have removed all of the carpets and put down vinyl everywhere. I felt that I was sleeping in an office or maybe a nursing home. There isn’t even a rug in the room to soften the decor or a mat to put your feet on when you get out of bed. This might work in Madrid or Seville but in cold snowy Dublin it is definitely not appropriate. The removal of carpets in the hall means that noises are not subdued and every door opened is amplified as well as every guest conversation-beware guests. They have also removed bathtubs even though the bathrooms are big enough for a bath and a shower. However, their entry on Booking.com and Hotels.com still has a bathtub symbol and they still advertise that they have a private bathroom as opposed to a shower room. I really don’t understand why you would remove a bath and install two basins. We had a long difficult journey and I was so looking forward to a soak in a hot bath. I won’t return to this hotel while it is managed by this company. I rarely give negative feedback as you will see from my previous reviews

Smoothe check in to check out..super efficient &Professional, friendly & super efficient staff in all departments. Fully staffed, no ques or long waiting to be served. Excellent breakfast & delicious food. Spacious & calm environment. Public areas clean & maintained. A big shout out to the lovely Angela & Jaime for treating & making us feel valued guests. Conveniently located for the AIR COACH BUS from/to THE AIRPORT. The city tour buses & within walking distance to Temple bar. Highly recommend & will definitely return.

A very large part of the hotel is across a back service road interconnected by a small bridge on 2nd floor. If you are unfortunate enough to be staying in the back building facing the service road then it is hard to get any skeep. This service road has beeping large refuse collection truck to deliver trucks and the noise is relentless. If you are staying at this hotel please make sure your room is not facing the service toad
- amelialB4047XI (10/5): Most amazing experience we have ever had🥰 - Myself and my partner have stayed the past 7 nights in the Gresham hotel. It has been the most amazing and memorable experience. The food is absolutely amazing, the atmosphere and the entire place is beautifully preserved and the rooms are so spacious and lovely. The staff are absolutely amazing, they really looked after us making sure we had everything we needed. They welcome you as you go in and out the building, respond straight to your queries and help you out instantly. They really make you feel at home. Suraj the duty manager was absolutely lovely. He really made our experience memorable. He made sure we were having the best time and chatted to us a lot about the places we could visit and recommendations for days out. Suraj was so welcoming from the very start and really brought a lovely welcome. He made sure we made the most of our experience in Dublin and was always happy to help. The best place to stay. We cannot fault at all🫶🏻we will definitely be coming back xx
- chinupchestout (4/5): Extremely noisy so don’t expect a good nights sleep. - Spent a few days here for New Years. The rooms are ok, don’t expect a great view as it’s a city location. There are no carpets in the rooms nor in the corridors which make them an echo chamber. The noise from people walking past the room was awful. The noise from the voice announcer from the lifts can also be heard from the rooms that are located near to lift lobby. Breakfast is ok but nothing special. The staff are ok but some a rude. Queues should be expected for breakfast and they use the bar areas as an overflow when the main restaurant is full. Prices for drinks at the bar are also expensive. We will return to Dublin but will probably stay elsewhere.

Booked the Superior Deluxe King Size Room. - Booked the most expensive room in the hotel (supreme deluxe king size) as it was for a special Christmas getaway & yes the room was lovely. However on arrival after doing an online check in at home we were met with queues of people checking in & had to sign more paperwork? Then handed card & instructions to get to our room……up in one lift, then had a 5 mile camel track along another corridor, (all the while looking at the map), down another lift and down the bottom of another corridor…… this room will be worth it after all this walking we joked. Our reward???? ….. A view of a brick wall, back street with 1 homeless person and awoke as delivery lorries parked up. I was gutted. But I suppose you are only paying for the room which was lovely & city location means views cannot be accommodated? Then in the evening whilst at the bar drinking very slowly over very pricey drinks with my partner, a waiter approached my him (not me) and told him to tell his wife she is not to vape in the hotel? I asked why where is she? (Neither of us vape). He said he’d approached the wrong couple & left?? It’s a mixed review and why I’ve deducted 1 star. As the staff, room & breakfast were all lovely and it was a very busy Christmas period for the staff. Possibly my expectations were higher than the reality? But can’t help thinking if the Holiday Inn next door might have been as good & less costly.

Firstly on arrival at 1pm, I was told I would get an email when my room was ready but I never did so was after 630pm when we checked in, they then still had no cards for room or paperwork done even though I had signed and paid previously in the day so my payment was still outstanding on system, had to be flagged with manager who proceeded to count cash and say it’s ok. Disaster. Coffee was €5.95 and cappuccino was €6.10, crazy prices. Room was a horrendous walk from lift and had to do it a few times to go to bar, breakfast, collect and fill water etc. Room was spacious, no view even though I had asked for street view on booking. No hairdryer in room to dry my hair, had to ring reception 3 times for one to be bought to room. So annoying. Plus was it was spacious, fab shower, great buffet breakfast, big bathroom and location good but otherwise was so disappointing
- josephines265 (6/5): Anonymous chain hotel in central Dublin. Could be anywhere. Falling down on details. - A mixed experience and disappointing for two main reasons. The first is probably unique to me - my parents had their honeymoon here many years ago and I guess I was hoping to find at least some feeling of the place they visited. But that's long gone and what's here now is an anonymous Euro-chain hotel that could be in any city anywhere. That's a shame - this grand old hotel has a real history. There's no feeling of even being in Dublin - the staff are all nice enough but I heard just one Irish accent amongst the dozens in 6 days and there's no connection to the history of the place any more - as embodied in the way the Spanish chain's branding just smoothers its identity. The second? The Gresham has I guess made us realise that we really don't want to do a 'hotel Christmas' again. For various reasons we ended up staying over Christmas this year. There was barely any Christmas mood (other than a big tree in the lobby). The hotel laid on a buffet for both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day - not only was it the same pretty uninspired menu both times (unexpectedly), with barely a nod to Christmas, it was astronomically expensive. Sure, staff costs are higher but even so...this was probably more than double what I would have expected to pay for a meal like this (and which I wouldn't have ordered anyway - less still for two consecutive meals). It included some kind of strange processed turkey item. Another option was roast beef (which was, to be fair, good) - it came with 'Yorkshire Puddings' which were in fact large vol-au-vents! 'Chicken Supreme' too. Odd. Otherwise, people seem to like the breakfast buffet - in truth it's just the same sort of thing as you'd find in many equivalent hotels. A small point - but it mattered to us - we both drink decaf coffee. The stuff they were serving was literally undrinkable - weak, poor quality instant that even the waiting staff apologised for. Seriously? Buying a few bags of decaf ground coffee isn't too much to ask. Details. This is supposed to be a 4 star hotel. The room? Clean and promptly serviced each day. The bed was huge. The tea and coffee making stuff was 2-3 star level at best. TV choices were standard - no movie channels and not all the channels worked. The bathroom had a frosted window onto the bedroom and a very irritating motion-controlled light that flashed on and off filling the bedroom with light when someone used it at night. It also had ambient lights round the bathroom door that you can't turn off, so if you like to sleep in total darkness, you have to somehow cover them up. We also heard snoring and conversation from the adjacent rooms - not ideal. Overall just not great. It's well located, especially for the airport (the Aircoach stops outside) but there are plenty of other decent city centre options.
- R2894LMclaireb (4/5): Disgusting Christmas dinner never again! - Booked here for 3 nights 25th December 2025 as of the past 4 years room was on 6 the 608 amazing brand new room absolutely stunning and bed comfortable view good with large balcony, we went for are usually Xmas day lunch which in 4 years first time I have ever complained it was horrible to start a waiting in a queue for 20 minutes one chef cutting meat had a queue tint bk to end of the bar this didn’t move for ages everyone in queue was complaining starter were nice but the main course was between cold items on plate to Luke warm items blood was gushing out of roast beef thre to my gravy our Xmas day lunch was ruined we told a lady staff about it she shrugged her shoulders and said sorry that was it I had to lift my dirty dishes of starters and mains to bar area as no one was lifting there we were at table 36 and beside till were staff stood there was a Dublin man small worker past us and the bad language of him to my ears is so uncomfortable and unprofessional in front of customers we paid bill and left had to wait next day to see a manager which said that’s for the feedback and was letting on he could not understand what we were saying fully this is not good enough writers bar was lovely for cocktails and drinks and staff as well and staff at front desk but definitely won’t be returning again at Christmas time we check out tomorrow breakfast is amazing can not fault that one bit it’s delicious.

No result so i had to go down to receptiom at 4 am to talk to the rudest guy ever. Saying im not your servant but when i pay you 400 euros you need to give me a warm room. Thats the least. Wouldnt issue a refund for night we spent moving heaters and trying diff things. Instead of enjoying our christmas eve as a couple. And then we go back to the room only for them to stop answering the phone when we call. Here we are still waiting and waiting while they are punishing us because they said my wife was rude. Im a duty manager at a five star hotel , no one at that front desk had ettiquette or manners. I wouldnt hire them for one sec , especially the one with the big blond beard , he is more fit to be a bouncer not front of house face. 0/10 worst hotel stay ever. We are actually angry that our christmas was ruined. So thank you Gresham hotel for ruining our christmas and wasting our money.

Great location, most things are walking distance and we got the air coach from the airport which drops you outside the hotel! We arrived 4 hours early but we were able to check in which was nice, very friendly staff. Breakfast was also great and great for accommodating dietary requirements. We would definitely book again if we returned to Dublin
- Lee-n-Gail (6/5): Great Location - We stayed at the RIU Plaza Gresham Hotel Dublin for a two-night pre-Christmas break. Firstly, the reception staff were fantastic, very welcoming, friendly and helpful on arrival, which made a great first impression. In general, the hotel was very clean, particularly the public areas, which were well maintained throughout our stay. The hotel was extremely busy due to the time of year, and this did result in quite a bit of noise late at night. When people were returning to their rooms after nights out, there was frequent door slamming and some very loud, disruptive behaviour. While this was frustrating, it does seem likely that this was due to the pre-Christmas party season rather than the hotel’s usual atmosphere. Unfortunately, the main disappointment was housekeeping. After being out for the day, we returned to our room at around 15:00 to find it had not been serviced. The cleaner was working a couple of doors down, so we assumed it would be done shortly and went back out. However, when we returned again at around 17:00, the room was still unserviced. With a booking at 19:00, we asked the cleaner for fresh towels. She did offer to service the room at that point, but it was too late, so we opted for towels only. This level of service was certainly below what we would normally expect from a RIU hotel. The cleaner appeared overwhelmed, and again this may have been due to how busy the hotel was at that time of year, but we did expect better. Overall, the hotel has many positives, particularly the staff at reception and the cleanliness of public areas, but the noise levels and housekeeping experience did detract from what should have been a relaxing short break.

The forms you keep sending ask for information I don't have regarding details of the company I booked with. Sadly I have had to give a one star reivew because of this issue. If it is resolved to my satisfaction then I will change the star rating. However, not holding out much hope as it is so difficult to contact anyone.

- MummyB (8/5): A great choice for us. - It’s a vast hotel but that’s not a negative. We had a King Deluxe room on floor 6 and it was huge. The bed was comfy, there was adequate storage & the bathroom was great. The room had an iron and ironing board. There’s also a small effective fridge and a safe. The breakfast is plentiful and tasty - porridge, pancakes, fruit, continental style stuff and hot food too. The only downsides to the stay were the lack of plug sockets in the room and the fact that the only place to plug in the hairdryer was in the socket that was used by a lamp on the desk so I dried my hair with no useful light. The staff were attentive without being overbearing. I had asked for a quiet room and that’s exactly what I was allocated and the staff were great at responding to emails. I’d go back, for sure.
- lindasC571OO (10/5): A true Dublin Classic - I’m from Dublin, born and raised, and The Gresham is one of those places that truly represents the city. It’s not just a brilliant hotel to stay in, but a real landmark that many Irish people genuinely appreciate. Being right in the heart of the city centre already makes it a fantastic choice. We stayed in a spacious room, and everything was spot on. The shower was large with perfect water pressure, something I always notice and really value. The bed was super comfortable, and you can clearly tell the hotel has gone through a major renovation, as everything feels new, modern and very comfortable. The room was also spotless, with absolutely nothing to fault. The bar has a fantastic atmosphere, especially around Christmas, and it’s a great place to meet friends for a drink. The restaurant has the same cosy, festive vibe, which really adds to the experience at this time of year. What really makes the difference is the staff. Everyone is friendly, welcoming and always smiling, making you feel at home from the moment you arrive. From day one, we were lucky enough to receive help from the Deputy Manager, Jaime, whose customer service was truly outstanding. He helped us plan our days, recommended great places for dinner and always took the time to check if we needed anything. I’ve travelled to many places and I’ve honestly never seen someone in management so involved with guests, most tend to stay hidden in their offices, but that was definitely not the case here. A big thank you to the whole hotel team, and especially to Jaime. We’ll definitely be back next Christmas, and without a doubt for many more special occasions.

- Climber36764540024 (4/5): Overrated, Disorganised, and All Front With No Substance - We stayed at Riu Plaza for two nights and it was one of the most frustrating hotel experiences we have had, particularly for a hotel that presents itself as high end. We were forced to change rooms multiple times, which immediately set the tone for the stay. The lack of organisation at reception was obvious. Most of the reception staff were poor, with the one exception being Samara, who was genuinely kind, helpful, and professional. As I was due to undergo surgery, I asked for a room with a bath. To our surprise and disappointment, the room we were initially given did not have one. We accepted this at the time because we were told we would be upgraded the following day. One staff member, Andrew, openly admitted that the situation had been mishandled, saying, “I have no good excuses, and you wouldn’t believe it anyway. This is embarrassing.” While the honesty was noted, it did not resolve the ongoing issues. Instead, we were given keys to a room that was already occupied. At this point, a receptionist named Magic followed us up the stairs to confirm the situation, despite the fact that the room was clearly occupied and incorrect. This added to the confusion and discomfort of the moment. When we opened the door, the first thing we saw was personal belongings and clothes scattered throughout the room. Being handed the key to another guest’s room seriously questioned the security standards of the hotel and left us genuinely concerned that the same mistake could happen with our own room. After this incident, we were left waiting for around thirty minutes for another room to be prepared, with little communication or urgency from staff. Once we finally arrived in the next room, cleaning staff walked in without knocking, which was completely unacceptable and made us feel uncomfortable and disrespected as guests. To add to the disorganisation, we waited around twenty minutes for our luggage, which never arrived until we had to call reception ourselves to follow it up. The only real positive is the location, which is excellent and could not be more central. Unfortunately, location alone does not make up for poor service and repeated mistakes. Overall, this hotel is all front with no substance. It looks polished, but behind the scenes it is disorganised and careless, and far below the standard it claims to offer. We would not return or recommend it.

- EMOinWI (10/5): Great stay - Stayed at Riu Dec 4-10. Got to hotel at 1130am and our room was ready - 424. Convenient room location but right off elevator so a bit noisy . Nice comfy king size bed , closet, safe, fridge and bathroom . A bit tight between bed and dresser but not in the room much . There was a water and ice station in the hall. Location is perfect - O’Connell street is busy with bus and tram . Walked all over Dublin - getting in about 20,000 steps per day. Murray’s bar next door had great food and live entertainment and Irish dancers nightly . Breakfast buffet at Riu is simply amazing . Had in 2 locations in hotel and at 9am it is very busy. Various juices, coffee, beans, fried and scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon ( more like ham to Americans) mushrooms, tomatoes , various meats , cheeses, fruits, pastries, breads , cereal, oatmeal . Lobby bar was wonderful . Always busy with people eating and drinking. Stopped every night for a drink or 2 and loved sitting at the bar. Drink prices some of the best in the area. Highlight was the bartender Emilio !!!! He is amazing - so observant and made our vacation extra special
- Discover15846668073 (2/5): 4 star hotel dressed as a premier inn - Travelled with my partner for my birthday . When checked into our room , the room was smaller than advertised and lack luster. The heating in the room wouldn’t work , such a convenient time for that to happen , in the middle of December !! The tv was basic . No view whatsoever. Now the restaurant. The layout of the restaurant felt like I was in a cafeteria or airport lobby . It was freezing as well . Ordered the linguini pasta with prawns . Extremely spicy inedible. My partners seafood mix was the smallest portion only came with three pieces of bread , and no butter . Dessert which is my favourite part of any meal was the worst . Ordered brownie with baileys cream . Absolutely no taste of baileys at all and nuts throughout the entire brownie , didn’t go at all. Brownie was so dry. No ambience at all . Expensive for food , be better going to McDonalds for dinner .

They had it in their safe and advised they would post it to me once I transferred 20 euros which I did immediately - one week later still has not arrived and they are not answering my emails. I have been writing back and forth complaining to the hotel management and then told to complain to agent, back and forth with agent to customer service then back to hotel. We stayed here in February and had a nice time, the expensive room we paid for was exactly what we hoped for and got. We took our daughter here for her birthday in October and booked two of the same rooms we had ( £££'s ) when we arrived and picked our keys up, went up to the rooms and came straight back down. WOW ! to say we were shocked would be an understatement. I have never been in a prison cell but can imagine they would have a better room. The window was so high you had to stand on a chair to see out, the floor is cold dark vinyl with no slippers provided ( at their price point and star rating there should be slippers and robes ) one socket for either a lamp or the kettle. The shower room was a disgrace. No shelves to put anything on and the toothbrush glasses sitting above the toilet. YUCK ! faulty hairdryer that burned our daughters hair etc etc. We DID complain at the time in the hotel and were told we were out of luck as it was fully booked and nowhere else to put us. We paid premium rate for this hole. Been back and forward with the travel agent and the hotel with absolutely no resolve. The hotel staff are dismissive and couldn't give a damn when you bring things to their attention. I will never stay here again and wouldn't recommend them now at all. I am guessing we will get an AI response to this review telling us to get in touch and sorry you feel this way. No! I am sorry I came back to this place and wasted a lot of money on rotten, dirty rooms that wouldn't have been worth half of what we paid. We sent photos to them to back our complaint but the hotel staff just aren't bothered at all. Just money grabbing shocking service from this lot now. Such a shame as we had a nice time a year ago. They tell you at the hotel to complain to the agent in writing as they don't want to tell you to your face that they don't give a hoot about your concerns or complaints. As soon as they have your money you've had it. AVOID and stay somewhere else.
- Dream647724 (8/5): Good location - We used the Dublin express from the airport to O’Connell street, google maps and at the hotel within 10 minutes. Quick check in. Room was spacious, but view not the best. Although when visiting for a couple of nights the view wasn’t an issue, but the early morning noise was of the men on the roof opposite doing renovations. Breakfast was excellent, with a good variety, and served hot. Staff were very helpful and well organised.

We arrived very early and Andrew on the Front Desk (who was so friendly and helpful) moved things around in his system so we would have a room straight away. The room we got was stunning and overlooked O’Connell Street. Every staff member we encountered from the moment we approached the building was helpful, friendly and smiling. Everyone saluted you as you passed and nothing was ever an issue to them. The breakfast the following morning was delicious and the breakfast room is huge. There is a massive selection to choose from no matter what your dietary requirements. Even though the bar was extremely busy in the evening, the service was impeccable and the food and cocktails were delicious. We would highly recommend staying in this hotel as it is the best in Dublin.

While the food was amazing, thank you to the chef, Colm made the dining experience even better. He was prompt, attentive and funny. He really did make the dining experience even better. The rooms are clean and comfortable with a great central location. Overall the stay has been great. The Gresham really is a fantastic place to stay!

On the second night we were awoken by a fire alarm at 2am. Nothing even said about it in the morning when checking out. In fact we weren't even asked how our stay was. Terrible service for just under €500 for two nights.

I did this but there are steps up to the main entrance which my mum struggles with. The attendant told me the carpark was full and I would have to park round the corner, I was surprised to hear there was a carpark so wasn't happy from the get go. The room I booked was deluxe and it was far from it. The view was an old entry way, it was freezing and the floor can only be described as cheap linoleum. The socket is not next to the mirror which would help and lighting was poor. The phone to reception did not work. They did manage to sort the heating out as soon as I asked though. There were steps down to breakfast, into toddys and uneven flooring all round. I had asked for a disabled room but was advised it would a lesser quality than that of which I booked which I find discriminatory to disabled people. Overall I wouldn't rush back but did find the staff to be lovely people and helped where they could.
- Navigate458593 (6/5): 3 5 stars if possible - The building and location are ideal. Parking very expensive was charged 31 Euro for one night. Breakfast poor in bar area. Had food here night before and had to return an uncooked beef burger and the curry was not nice. Very basic for the standard of the rest of this hotel. Teddy's bar badly needs updating and the food needs improving. Main seating area inside door on right with bar is much nicer and can people watch on O Connell street from these windows. We were charged a fortune for a room 3 adults sharing 405 Euro for one night. We specifically asked for a double and single and were promised same by a manager. We arrived to a pull out sofa bed and refusal for anyone to offer any solution or reduction in price or any apology. We are no spring chickens and this bed was not at all suitable. Its a pity no one seems to have an ounce of customer service or any Irish staff working here who may have understood the issue better or treated ladies with a little more respect. We made the most of our night. The room interior very nice but thry have replaced all carpet in hotel with a cheap floor cover like lino. Location is perfect, Interior beautiful. Customer service poor at reception although bar staff were lovely. Overall a mixed experience just surprised no one even wanted to help or listen to our issues with the room. I would stay again if it was less expensive but would advise to eat out.

Nothing any problem as we ask for room change due to noise of aircon outdide our window and was no problem. Bathrooms have everything you need.Breakfast brilliant and plenty of everything. There was great atmosphere while we were there. We got a great deal on Bed/breakfast. Also recommend Murrays bar just past hotel. Good food and great entertainment . Have stayed quite a few time here and will be back.

- traceypB2966VT (2/5): Dreadful - Rooms are not noise insulated at all. The walls are paper thin. Our bed was on the same wall on the room next to us TV ( we know this as we seen it as we were leaving the next morning) The couple next door to us were NOT noisy but we could hear them talk and hear what they were watching on tv. This went on till 3am in the morning. It then started again at 7am Spoke to manager next morning and he really took no accountability, told us we should have called down to reception and they would have told the guest to keep the noise down, even though I stated to him “the guests next door were not noisy” it was the walls being so thin. Manager then said if we had of told them at the time they would have given us another room if they had one, ( nobody should have to move rooms at 3am in the morning) in a 4 star hotel this was hardly a resolution. Manager then debated with us that the rooms ARE noise insulated and said he would “check out our raised concern” as he raised both his hands jestering the inverted coma quote to us as he said it. We explained we went to bed at 12 midnight and had unpacked everything and were in are pyjamas. We didn’t accept that as a resolution as we were only staying 1 night and shouldn’t have to move room at midnight. Next morning we switched the kettle on looking forward to a cup of coffee, after walking a very long distance to the water station, ( this was NOT near our room) the kettle didn’t boil when you switched it on but the on switch crackled and handle became scorching hot, again was told by manager, they DON’T check appliances that’s up to guests to make them aware if not working. You would expect more staying in a 4 star hotel. We had booked to a more superior room months in advance to our arrival so we expected that “little extra” No accountability and pretty much threw it all back on us that it was OUR responsibility to raise these issues at an earlier time. Ie middle of the night He seemed to think that was more than acceptable Conclusion We stayed one night. We didn’t get a good nights sleep We could make coffee the next morning in the room as the kettle was not working Please do better as a 4 star hotel These things should not happen, Also don’t debate with your guests.

The location of the hotel is brilliant, very central for sightseeing. We were particularly impressed with all the staffing at the hotel, everyone we can onto contact with had a smile on their face and couldn't do enough to assist us. The breakfast was brilliant and catered for every taste. We enjoyed a "full Irish" each morning and can honestly say that the bacon was the best we'd ever eaten!! We really hope that we can return to this Rui hotel very soon.
- paulmK1098IS (6/5): Disappointing budget feel room. - We stayed for my birthday on the 16th November we've stayed the previous two birthdays - this time not so much as a happy birthday at check in . We were allocated room 426. This was easily the worst room we've ever had there. The foyer and staff were the usual high standard but the room and corridor had a very budget feel. I've no idea who chose the tacky flooring but it was horrible , both to look at and walk on. Breakfast was very good but the night before we ate in the restaurant , teddy's I think it was called. The food was very average. My wife can't have onion which doesn't usually cause too much of a problem but most dishes came with a separate sauce ( choice of 2 ) . When asked if maybe any sort of gravy or sauce could accompany one of the dishes we were told no. Weird for a four star hotel restaurant. The only option then was fish and chips, bad choice. It was awful with most of it uneaten. All in all the experience was well below the other stays we've had. Sadly I very much doubt we will be back.

All of the staff were lovely and very helpful, the room we had was fine, not the largest but hardly spent any time in it! The breakfast are fantastic, lots of freshly cooked good quality food. Would very much recommend it.
- Burscoboy (10/5): Wonderful Hotel in the centre of the city. - My wife and I had a 3 night stay at the Gresham having stayed there previously. It continues to be a wonderful hotel. It is well located centrally in the city with everything you would need very close by (eg. bars, restaurants, public transport and sightseeing tour buses) We arrived 4 hours early intending to leave our luggage until the 3pm check in. The man at Reception told us our room was already ready and kindly allowed us to check in early. We were very fortunate with our room allocation which was on the 4th floor at the 'wrap around' corner of the building. The room was huge and its 4 windows gave us brilliant views of O'Connell Street, Parnell Square and the city skyline. The room and bathroom were very well decorated and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was excellent and catered for our needs. The food was plentiful, well cooked with plenty of variety. All the hotel staff were friendly and welcoming.

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful - they stored our luggage and emailed us as each room became free. The rooms are very nice. Comfy beds, lovely bathrooms and all very clean and fresh. The breakfast is amazing. A huge buffet of everything you could want. As a vegan I was impressed by the vegan options available including milks, yogurt, fruit plus cooked breakfast options. The hotel is in a great spot - hop on hop off bus stop right outside plus a short walk to the city centre. If we were ever in Dublin again, this is where we’d stay.

- torstenmarr62 (10/5): Highly recommended - Full recommendation! Service is excellent, just as we are used to from Riu Hotels The breakfast is really good and sufficient for anybody. The measures of our room were great, nearly 40 qm. The bathroom is large and new. The room was very clean and well-maintained. But unfortunately in the Souterrain with a view to a gray wall. There are several different lamps that can't be combined and are not able to light up the room in a sufficent manor. The floor ist extremely cold. Especially in the bathroom there is no floor-heating and even no towel-heating. I am not the tallest man with 1.80 m, but the beds are too short with 1.90 m, I think. When my head touched the head of the bed my feet hang over the end of bed. Although we mentioned a few points for improvement, we can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Dublin. Its central location, with all bus lines stopping practically right outside, is unbeatable.
- 351MarkW351 (6/5): Central and Clean but Lacking Comfort and Atmosphere - I stayed at the Riu Plaza The Gresham Dublin in October for a work trip. Check-in was smooth and polite, and the hotel itself is large and centrally located — ideal for exploring the city or attending meetings nearby. Parts of the property have been refurbished, which gives it a modern touch. My room was spacious and clean, with a modern bathroom. However, around the window area in the bathroom there were early signs of black mould, which was disappointing and should be addressed. The biggest issue, though, was the noise — the corridors aren’t carpeted, so every sound carries straight into the room. Combined with the lack of carpet in the bedroom itself, it made the space feel a bit cold and less comfortable despite the modern furnishings. The lounge and bar area could also use some soft furnishings or décor to create a warmer, more inviting atmosphere, as it currently feels a little impersonal. Breakfast service was friendly and polite, but the quality of the hot food was below expectations. Many of the items were dry from sitting under heat lamps, and the ingredients didn’t feel particularly high quality — an area that could definitely be improved. Overall, it was an okay stay for a work trip, but given the noise issues and lack of warmth, I’d likely try a different hotel on my next visit to Dublin.

Everything exceeded my expectations the room was spotless, comfortable, and perfectly equipped with everything I needed. The atmosphere throughout the hotel was welcoming and relaxing, making it the perfect place to unwind after a long day exploring this beautiful city. What really made my stay stand out, however, was the incredible service. The staff at the reception were genuinely kind, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. A special mention goes to Marta, the manager, who was absolutely delightful professional, approachable, and went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect she even upgraded our room to a nicer room facing the river and gave us two drink vouchers for me and my husband! She truly embodies what great hospitality should be. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for top-quality service and comfort.
- N6597MQcarolew (2/5): " Solo OAP lady shopper kicked out of the Riu Plaza for not buying 2 drinks within 40 minutes !!! " - I had bought an Irish Coffee and was seated in the foyer for 40 mins. The Duty Manager approached me and in a loud voice told me he had been watching me, that I had finished my drink and had to leave as he was running a business, that it was not a waiting room and if I could leave now. When I delayed a minute due to shock and the gathering of my shopping, he said that he had told me already to leave and that I need to leave now. He did the same to the couple beside me, ( who were residents ). When he was told by one that Yes, she had ordered a drink and that she was a resident he then turned to her companion and asked her the same questions. I was told 2 months ago by Head Office and the local manager that it would be responded to but haven't heard back.

I'm sorry but the Gresham has set my new standard for travelling. They've spoiled me for all other hotels!
- Tourers_14 (4/5): Very average, disappointing - I have previously stayed at this hotel and was fond of its charm and character. Unfortunately, the essence of the old Gresham seems to have been lost, replaced by a more commercial and impersonal atmosphere. Upon arrival and departure, although staff were present at the entrance, no assistance was offered with my luggage up the steps. As a solo traveler, I had specifically requested a quiet room on a higher floor. Instead, I was assigned a room on the first floor, which was extremely small and faced a wall, I did not feel safe. I returned to Reception to request a change of room and was eventually assisted by someone who may have been the Manager. The interaction was curt and lacked warmth. I was reassigned to a room on the third floor, which was slightly larger but still offered a view of another wall. While I understand the hotel’s central location may justify a premium, at €300 per night, I expected a significantly higher standard of service and overall experience. On my first night, there was reportedly a fire alarm incident. I only became aware of it the following morning via a notice posted at the hotel entrance. Guests had apparently been evacuated, yet no alarm sounded on the third floor, and I was not alerted. I ordered room service breakfast on my first morning. Unfortunately, the meal was disappointing: the toast was cold and served without butter, the fruit bowl contained spoiled melon, and the coffee was also cold. I was told to pay the extra €7.50 to the staff member for the breakfast. Surely that could have been deducted on my departure. Overall, this was a disappointing experience at a hotel that is considered one of Dublin’s most prominent. Having stayed at other Riu Plaza properties in London and New York, I found this hotel did not meet the standards I’ve come to expect from the brand.
- Fran1USA (10/5): Worth the week’s stay! - This is a wonderful, friendly hotel. It is very conveniently located and an easy walk to the River, the Temple Bar area, Jameson, Guinness, and so many other must-see places. There is a lot of activity nearby—pubs, shopping, pubs, museums, and more pubs. Our room was a hike from the lobby (had to change elevators en route), but it was in what appears to be a newer part of the building and was HUGE by urban standards. The bathroom was especially spacious. I’ll be back!
- Pant14 (2/5): Very poor experience. Total rip off. - Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and had a terrible experience. First room which we were allocated to was looking at a wall 3 meters away, the sofa bed for the kids was not made up, there were no additional sheets, duvet and towels for the kids. Tried to call reception and the phone was not working either! In the end, they came upstairs to make the bed and provide the missing items and we were promised a new room for the next days. When moved to the new room, upon entering the room, while our luggage were there, the room had not been cleaned up from the previous guests! We were then allocated to a third room, which was finally OK from the cleanliness perspective, but still overlooking at walls and backyards. Never had such a poor experience at a hotel. They clearly have issues with their logistics and for a €300+ per night hotel, this is utterly unacceptable. Other than these major issues, the hotel is mediocre. Superficial luxury, which is not translated into great customer service. For example, while you'd expect a very good breakfast experience, it was just OK, with a good selection of cooked and cold items, but you get the same at a €100 per night hotel. No cooking stations for hot food made to order, no extra attentiveness at service (e.g. on one morning there was no one to welcome guests and take their room numbers, while the restaurant was empty and there was no queue. Overall an extremely poor experience and a total rip off. While we complained for all of our issues, we were only offered room swaps which didn't go exactly to plan! I would definitely expect an upgrade as a minimum or a partial refund and none of this has happened. Avoid at all costs. You can get better service at cheaper hotels.
- Champney (8/5): Good for short stay. Certain breakfast staff so rude - Stayed here for one night. Stayed here many times before. Check in was quick. I was told by email I would get a room upgrade if available. I said it to the girl on reception because it was for 2 birthdays. I was told that's the highest standard the rooms goes as we were in Deluxe family room. That was miss leading information to me either by email or the woman on the check in desk. Rooms are nice and comfortable. There seems to be like plastic lino on the corridors and in the bedrooms. It's just ok. They must of removed carpet or the wooden floors. Facing out towards the street. Very noisy with people shouting. Bar staff were lovely and friendly. Breakfast room we usually go to was full so we were put into the other area. The lady I think her name was Luna showed us to our table. She needs to be re trained in customer service. She didn't explain where anything was. Normally your told it's self service and where things is. She didn't bother. We asked is it self service. She didn't even reply to us just walked off. Absolutely rude no manners at all. Disgusting behaviours.

The hotel looks extremely grand from the outside, as you walk in it’s lovely to be met by the staff meeting and greeting you. The lobby furnishings are lovely, the reception team efficient and the whole area oozes class. The room was fabulous, modern and spotlessly clean. The bed was large, comfy and we slept well.. the room was very quiet. Bathroom was great, could be a little cold at times but the shower area was large, as was the sink and it had everything we needed. The breakfast was super, huge range and cooked very well. It can be quite noisy due to the volume of people but it didn’t bother us. Staff were all attentive and engaging, we didn’t require our room to be serviced but it was offered. Location was perfect for us, close to temple bar and the river. Lots of shops, restaurants and bars close by. We’ve done a lot of city breaks and this hotel has been the best yet. Well done team Riu

We stayed up very late talking about family and friends with him. we each shared some family valves that we have in common. Mohammad is a valuable employee and an awesome family man. I work in customer service as a plumbing mgr in the staes VA , Mohammad is class act . He knows the value of service. I want to give mohammad more than a 5 star review Hopewfully one day he famioly we be closer. I defenitly recommend mohammad a pay raise or a litlle extra on his payucheck. He should win employee of the month. Mohammad you are agreat person husband ans most important agreat dad . I respect that in a person. - elizabeth57Elkridge (10/5): Stay in the middle of Dublin - HI we stayed here for three nights before a group tour of Ireland. This hotel is very well located right on O'Connell Street which is a major avenue. As we flew from the U.S. and got in early, we had several hours waiting for our room to be ready (as we knew there would be). Check in time was 3 and we did get into our room around 1:30. There were plenty of places to sit in the lobby and surrounding areas while we waited, and they stored our luggage right away. The staff was extremely helpful in giving directions and always greeted us like long term guests. Our room had a wonderful kettle so we could make tea and coffee, and a refrigerator, but just to let you know there were no microwave ovens at any of the places we stayed this week. There are two restaurants in the hotel and nearby there are several pubs, two convenience store and a terrific doughnut shop. Sometimes as we waited for our room, a staff member would come by and ask us if we needed anything and I appreciate that. There are a lot of tour groups going in and out and even airline staff so it is a busy place. The big thing for us here was location and this was a good one.
