- Natasha (6/5): A very honest review - Hmmm, the huge amount of 5 star reviews have been given by Spa-day people. If you look at the hotel guest reviews, you’ll see a different theme appear. The roof top with the pool is second to none. A saving grace for the hotel and they know it. They take each payment as you order. For ease, guests should be able to have tabs as is customary to settle at the end of each stay should they wish. The owner has clearly cut corners on staff, which has put them all under pressure to do the jobs of two or three people. The breakfast was nice but a little old fashioned and under performing considering the supposed stature of the hotel. The carpet needs to be relaid in the dining room. There are 5 star features, however, there are very easy parts of the service that can be fixed. We didn’t leave Athens… we simply left and found another hotel. Katrina at guest services and Panagiota on the roof top have saved this review from being catastrophic. I’m sure there will be a response from the manager or some decision maker under this review with the customary blah blah blah response, however, perhaps, instead of responding to my review, you had better call a meeting and ask how you can serve your own staff better so that they feel more supported in their jobs.

Beautiful hotel atop the hill with an unbelievably beautiful rooftop bar and restaurant with views of the Acropolis Hill. Breakfast was bountiful, also with stunning views. Beautiful shops at it’s base. We are definitely returning.

And the waiter service was substandard and did not come around and asked me how the food was or if I needed anything while I was eating. The door to my hotel room is terrible. Who designed the opening mechanism? The rooftop pool had a menu which was not available, really?? You do not deserve five stars I drop you down to three stars you need to raise your game thank you.

- Antonella (6/5): - Marketed as a 5-star property, St George Lycabettus falls short of expectations and feels more in line with a 4-star rating. While its location in the upscale Kolonaki area is considered prestigious by locals, the surrounding neighbourhood still bears the marks of overbuilding and urban congestion. The hotel sits on a steep hill, which adds to the views but not to the convenience. The property has a storied past with celebrity guests in its heyday, though it no longer exudes the glamour that would attract today’s A-listers. Prices are high across the board and not matched by the quality offered. The highlight is undoubtedly the view—sweeping cityscapes and the Acropolis in sight—but many other hotels in Athens now offer similar rooftop experiences. Dining is a mixed bag: while some dishes are excellent, alcohol in particular is overpriced, with branded champagne around €185-200 a bottle. Rooms are comfortable and include amenities like Nespresso pods and decent soundproofing, but they lack the refinement expected of a true 5-star stay. Bathrooms feel dated, and the showerhead is unnecessarily complicated. Breakfast is underwhelming: no fresh juices or quality cold cuts, and overall quality feels mass-market rather than premium. Staff are helpful and courteous, but service alone doesn’t justify the premium pricing. Ultimately, this hotel offers a nice spot for a cocktail at sunset, but for accommodations, better options exist with superior amenities and better price.

- Verified traveler (2/5): Avoid this hotel – not even close to 5 stars! - This hotel is a complete disappointment and nowhere near the standard of a true 5-star European hotel. The swimming pool was closed despite the weather being a warm 24 degrees, and the entire rooftop area was off-limits. You couldn’t even sit on a sunbed or visit the bar in that section. There is absolutely no sense of privacy or exclusivity anywhere in the hotel. Before check-in, I received an email stating that, as an Expedia VIP, a bottle of wine would be waiting in my room—there was nothing. I had to ask at least three times, and in the end, I had to escalate the issue to Hotels.com. The worst part? The hotel lied to Hotels.com, claiming they had sent the bottle when they hadn’t. The so-called spa experience is another joke—you have to ask the staff for permission to use the sauna or jacuzzi, as if it’s some kind of privilege rather than a basic facility. On top of that, their massage prices are a complete rip-off: €40 for just 30 minutes. Meanwhile, in Piraeus, you can get a 90-minute, high-quality massage for only €30. The only positive thing about this hotel is the view from the breakfast area. Other than that, it’s an overpriced, poorly managed mess. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else!

Having said that we were little surprised that there was no hair conditioner or body lotion and no water bottles in the little fridge. The fact that there’s a garage, at extra cost, is another main reason why I picked this hotel! The roof top restaurant has an amazing view that is obscured at night with the most distasteful Decorative lights, totally unnecessary! The entire restaurant needs a major update! Food was very good, and breakfast buffet was also good.

The breakfast was incredible and the restaurant on the sixth floor. The food was great and the views of the Acropolis and sunset was breathtaking. We had booked here two weeks ago and decided to come back and book again on our last night before we depart to the USA

The pool area and bar is extremely well done, the staff in the restaurant and the bar were all helpful. We had issues from the start when out in a different room to which we paid for. The manager claimed the eco room with a view of neighbouring apartments, broken furniture and a disabled bathroom was an upgrade to our superior lycabettus view room. Thankfully after two room moves we got what we ordered for. Unfortunately on check out they tried to charge us again for the room and items we hadn't had... Do not trust the automated check out system. The hotel is a 3 star hotel.. The gym is non existent. However we had a lovely time due to the pool area, view and location, all of which are surely some of the best in Athens

The roof pool was nice and the restaurant food was pretty good but not amazing. There is a very nice hike right outside the door taking up to the top of Lycabettus.

Noticed others going up to complain and they got a room right away. So, I did the same and got a room. No communication about how long the wait was going to be. Some at the front desk were helpful, some were not and had a poor attitude. We did accidently leave something in our room and the desk was helpful in getting it returned to the states.

- Emir (2/5): - Regret we had a very poor experience from beginning to end. There was no welcoming from staff and deputy manager during check in. We booked 8 rooms and all of our rooms were at back side of hotel, next to air condition units and were very noisy. At midnight, there was a electricity cut and we woke up with huge generator noise. (By the way, generator was only for main hotel places but not for the rooms.) We had no power and air condition for few hours in our rooms. None of us could sleep during the night. In the morning they didn’t even come to us and apologies for the inconvenience or offered any complimentary for an excuse. Besides they just made our check outs like nothing happened also charged for coffees we had during check out process. Overall they don’t deserve 5 star and don’t act like that at all for sure. Don’t suggest anyone to have this bad experience. There are way better hotels in Athens which you can get what you paid for.
