- G6722ORlaurad (8/5): Staff are exceptional - The staff absolutely made this hotel! From the moment we arrived until the moment we left they were all so friendly, helpful and polite. I would like to give a special thank you to Claudia from the Netherlands. Every day she greeted us with a smile and was so helpful and genuinely friendly. Upon arrival we realised our room did not have a walk in shower and my mum has mobility issues. She quickly arranged a different room for us. All staff including bell men and concierge were great. Helping us with bags and anything we needed. We didn’t eat at the hotel at all but enjoyed our stay. I even got to use an e bike for free. The only downside to our stay as some others have mentioned was the smell of drains in our bathroom. They did try and fix the problem but a day later the smell was back. We have heard this is common in Florence.

- twoodlawn (10/5): Romantic stay for anniversary - We LOVED our stay here. Travelled here for our anniversary- staff made a point to congratulate us and made us feel special and welcome. Concierge goes above and beyond; we asked how we can get timed entry to Academia museum and he picked up the phone and called the museum for us! It has such wonderful staff and facilities too; the spa with sauna is free for guests. And definitely go for the rate including breakfast; it was delicious and staff making cappuccino to order cqn get addictive. Hope you get a chance to stay here!

- mars2006 (6/5): Proceed with caution if you stay here - NOT 5 STARS - Prior to arrival, I booked a suite so my family and I could stay in the same room. Upon arrival, we were placed in the Royal Suite - sounded amazing. Unfortunately, the room smelled like absolute sewage. The hotel claimed it was because the room had been closed up for a while. We opened every door and window, including the door to the hallway and windows in the hallway. We left for a while so they could fix the problem emanating from the bathroom. Upon return, they claimed to have come and fixed the problem but they only severely deodorized. They did end up moving us to two separate rooms. Later, I learned it is common for this hotel to have sewage smell and hallway outside this room ALWAYS smelled like sewage - so they knew they were placing my family in a room with a problem. At no time did the offer to extend any nicety to us (like a complimentary glass of wine or a comp for breakfast or even seemingly adjust the rate for our room) for having to sit in sewage stench and move rooms to a type we did not want to be in. The hotel location was also sub-optimal, with people congregating and drinking heavily on the street outside of the hotel - esp at night. Also, one evening a man with a beat up face was excessively drunk and screaming in the area right outside the hotel. Even ambulance workers were afraid to deal with him - he eventually left when someone gave him a cigarette. I would not consider our experience to be a 5 star experience with a focus on hospitality from start to finish at this hotel. They never once really apologized for knowingly putting us in a room that smelled like open sewage. I would not recommend this hotel and would not say it was a 5 star experience in any fashion.

- laurat6243 (2/5): A really bad experience at Sina villa Medici, Florence - My friends and I, a group of four, booked two Junior Suites for three nights in a five star hotel, Florence 「Sina villa Medici」, through a Taiwanese travel agency, for a total of six nights. We booked Junior suites because we wanted to be comfortable. However, after we had dinner together, when my friends went into their room, they noticed an unpleasant smell. Since it was late, they opened the windows and turned the air conditioning in the living room on full blast for the night. The next morning, our friends told us that there was a wooden plank nailed to the floor of their bathroom. They found it strange that such a room would be given to guests, but we continued our itinerary and did not change rooms. The serious problem occurred on the third night. We returned to our room very late from our trip. Unexpectedly, the cleaning lady had closed the windows and turned off the air conditioning in our friend's room. As a result, the entire room was filled with the stench emanating from the bathroom's septic pipes. Our friend had no choice but to open the window and bring all the luggage inside. He spent the night feeling extremely angry. Although our travel agency in Taiwan helped negotiate several times, the hotel remained adamant, only willing to refund the travel member points rather than the full amount. This was a disastrous experience for us, and I strongly advise everyone to never stay at this hotel again.

- journeymaid48 (10/5): Perfect hotel in Florence - This is an excellent hotel in Florence. The staff from Check in, Concierge, housekeeping and the porter were fabulous. The rooms were good size and immaculate. The restaurant was a good venue from breakfast to dinner. The location is close to many sites and as we are walkers this was perfect for us. I would happily stay here again and look forward to it on future trips to Florence.

The personnel except a few characters at the reseption and at the concierge were very pleasent and helpfull. The second room offered to us was large enough to open the suitcases. Unfortunately there was a strong sewege smell in the room and in the hallway during our stay. The hotel is also some 1,5 km away from the center. So be prepared to walk a lot every day. The breakfast that was included in the room price was ok but very simple. A poridge or an omelet woul cost extra. A picture of our pyjamas after the room was tydied.

We stayed one night on points and were very disappointed. First, the staff is excellent and very friendly. Second, I understand we were staying using points, but the room and the floor we were in had a very unpleasant odor and we were told no other rooms were available. Third, the shower/tub was very small which made it very difficult to shower and water would get all over the floor. Overall, a big disappointment.

Firstly, the staff was, as you'd expect, top-notch helping arrange transportation, city visits, etc. I want to especially call out their service in working with me for a surprise birthday flower arrangement. We talked through budgets, color scheme, flower types ahead of time and it was executed perfectly. We had a room on the fifth floor and it had an incredible view. The location is the perfect distance to be walkable to most of what you'd want to see (15 minute walk) while being outside the crowds The breakfast was very good and had a great selection of items. For our busy days the buffet was perfect. It is expensive but well worth it.
- T433QArachelh (4/5): Bad allergies, no water, and unsafe area - If you have allergies, do not stay in this hotel. I have been all throughout Italy and never experienced such extreme allergies until I arrived at this hotel. I am not sure if it was the extremely old furniture, excessive dust flying around, or mold in the walls, but my mom and I were non stop coughing, sneezing, and stuffy ever since arriving here. I have also been to Florence before and never had this experience. If I had to stay one more night I would’ve had to move somewhere else because it was unbearable. In addition, it was ridiculously hard for us to get extra waters. You only get 2 small bottles per room per day, and when we went to ask for more, it depended on the day as to whether or whether not we would get them. One day they made us go to the bar and we had to pay 7 euro per small bottle which was ridiculous. One day they sent us to the water station in the lobby, but the dispenser was ALWAYS empty. If we can’t drink from the sink, then it shouldn’t be a problem if I need more water in 90 degree weather. Finally, the hotel was not in a great area. A couple of the streets directly around felt very unsafe walking, with many sketchy people lurking outside and almost no other tourists. I have not felt unsafe like that anywhere around Europe and it was especially disappointing that it was on the streets right by our hotel. The only reason I gave 2 stars was because the breakfast was great, but otherwise I would not call this a “5 stars” hotel in the slightest.

On the day we checked in, we were given key to room 442. A big room with a mountain view, a large closet & bathroom with tub & shower. We left to explore, when we came back at night we noticed an awful smell in the hall & the door to our room was open (not unlocked but open). We called the front desk to ask what happened they said it was the person who did the turndown service left it open. Not ok. After checking to make sure our stuff was all there we went to the garden to see if the smell would dissipate. We went back an hour later but the smell was awful. It smelled like sewage. We went downstairs to discuss with front desk, the woman there told us she couldn’t go upstairs to check on the issue but she could give us another room. She gave us a smaller room facing the street & we took it cause we couldn’t deal with the smell. I thought this was a new issue but after reading Google reviews people have complained of the smell going back to 2022. I shared my frustration with her & she seemed surprise that this was an issue. That is gaslighting if people have complained for years. Once in the new room I jumped into the shower, only to realize the soap dispenser was empty. Bad smell, door left open & lack of toiletries are reasons I wouldn’t consider this 5 stars.

- Cynthia (9/5): Beautiful hotel, great oasis from the hustle of the city - This is a beautiful hotel that is private and quiet in a pretty convenient location. The first few days we arrived and the weather was 40 degrees Celsius and it was very challenging to tour in the area- the hotel was a nice oasis for us to come back and take a dip in the pool with our kids and sip spritzes before dinner. We stayed 3 nights before venturing off to Venice, Lake Como, and Milan and returned for a 4 night stay in Florence. We are currently on our 2nd stay and have only experienced great service. The restaurant staff at breakfast were so nice and the staff around the pool. When we left they left us a sweet gift and thanked us for the stay. This is an old palace converted to a hotel- on the extremely hot days it would take awhile for the rooms to cool to a tolerable temperature. This wasn’t a huge deal for us, but could be for some.

- JuneInTown (9/5): An elegant hotel located fairly close to the city center, with great staff and spacious rooms. - The balcony offers a nice view, and the hotel is relatively close to the city center (Florence isn’t very big). The staff are very nice and helpful, and breakfast comes with a decent variety of options. The area around the hotel doesn’t always feel particularly safe, especially for a woman with a small child, though I may be overly cautious. I definitely wouldn’t walk around at night. The swimming pool is on the smaller side, and the deep end is very deep, so young children can only use a small portion of it.

- Steve (10/5): - We stayed at the Villa Medici for 3 days and had an amazing time. The hotel is centrally located in Florence and convenient to the train station (10 min walk). Its also a historic property - I believe it was once a monastery and has been lovingly restored. It has everything you need including a pool and great restaurant. It also has an amazing staff who are extremely helpful and courteous. Also, the breakfast buffet was amazing - especially when traveling with 4 kids who appreciated being able to choose their own items. Will definitely stay here on our next trip to Florence.

- MelissaMiller2025 (4/5): Shouldn't be an autograph collection five star property - Customer service is the foundation of any hospitality experience, and this hotel failed on every level. I’ve stayed in many places, and this was easily one of the worst first impressions I’ve ever had. It set the tone for the rest of my stay, and unfortunately, things never really improved. Upon our arrival, the receptionist was cold and monotonous. We received a room that was overlooking the pool and was clean as well as comfortable. But literally nothing special about this at all. The breakfast was subpar at best and nothing special, we are used to having five star hotels with the autograph collection and this just didn't measure up at all. The coffee machine was instant coffee, and would have been a better experience if we had a little bit nicer one in this level of property. We had a situation as well where we were stuck at the farthest train station and couldn't get a taxi. We called the concierge for help and they told us to send an email and they would help us -- we were literally stranded at the side of the road with minimal connection and had no way to send an email. We were told they were too busy and when we arrived finally at the hotel later, there was no one occupying their time. This would be a one star review except for a couple of employees who maintain a high level of professionalism. The wait staff for the breakfast was hard working, kind and always friendly despite the basic food set up. Additionally, the man at the front desk named Giovanni was particularly helpful. He was the best staff member at the front each time we encountered him and he was literally the shining star to take this from a one star to two star review. When you travel as much as we do, you have stayed at many Autograph collection properties, five star hotels and the like - this one didn't rank in our opinion. Our adult children stayed up the street at the AC Hotel and we almost checked out and joined them as their stay was less expensive and just as good with a nicer breakfast!

An excellent weekend retreat. The restaurant seemed a little too quiet/fancy for my young children so we did not go there but the staff made some excellent dinner recommendations in the area which suited us very well. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating to us and our children. The restaurant and bar overlook the pool so the pool is only open 11am-7pm (so as not to disturb guests having breakfast and dinner). That timing was fine for us but some guests might expect the pool to be opened earlier or later.

A beautiful hotel, with clean rooms, comfortable beds, a a lovely garden and pool, and even a fun bar. Things sometimes move a bit slower, but everyone was kind and helpful. The hotel is walking distance to everything too. We hope to be back again some day!

- IrishO57 (6/5): Not what we expected. - I’m unsure why this is a 5 star hotel and on top of it a signature series. I have a Titanium Elite status and stay at Marriotts every chance I get and expected a “wow” factor when I entered the hotel and for that matter our room. There was none and at best it’s a nice hotel, not close to a 5 star. One issue we had was going to the Concierge desk to get change for 20 Euro so we could tip our room service. They said they had no change and told us to go to the bar. The bar pointed us back to them and said they had change in the back. This went on for 2 days, no change, to finally we went to a market to buy 2 waters so we would have change to tip. I mean really you don’t have change! Same with the water at the hotel. The flavored water they usually had for guests in the lobby was always empty and the guests were directed to go to the bar for water, yeah and we had to pay for it. There were a handful of us who complained about it. Lastly we had breakfast included which was very nice the first day but on day 4 it’s like Groundhog Day, the same thing over and over, no change at all. Our stay was nice and besides the few things mentioned there maybe better choices, as this one is not what we expected, and certainly not the 5 star hotel it is said to be.
- RPH81 (10/5): A luxury hotel - This hotel is absolutely beautiful! We stayed one night after a weeklong cruise. Check in with seamless. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our party reserved three rooms, one being the Royal suite. It’s absolutely marvelous. It looks like the White House. Unbelievable. The price per night to stay in this hotel is quite reasonable, when compared to the hotels of Venice. It seems like what you pay is worth it. The hotel is in a very convenient section of Florence. Easy and easy out. And not too far from the airport. If you’re staying in the city, I would highly recommend this hotel! It’s opulent and elegant.

- D5965MPnathant (6/5): Sina Villa Medici: Exceptional Staff, But Comfort Fell Short - We booked a 7-night stay at Sina Villa Medici but ultimately checked out after just 3 nights. From the start, the service was excellent. The staff were incredibly welcoming, helpful, and attentive—assisting with everything from reservations and taxis to thoughtful local recommendations. Harry’s Bar served fantastic cocktails in a classy atmosphere, and the staff there were equally attentive. Breakfast was fresh and tasty, though the buffet remained the same each day, which became repetitive over time. As Marriott Platinum members, we were informed at check-in that we had been upgraded to a junior suite. While appreciated, we originally booked a room with a terrace, and the upgraded room did not have one. When I asked, the staff explained the suite offered more space but no outdoor area. The room was located on the second floor and overlooked the hotel’s interior atrium. Unfortunately, the view was rather sad and uninspiring—not what we’d hoped for in a city as beautiful as Florence. The suite had two bathrooms, one of which was handicap-accessible. However, the accessible shower lacked a curtain or enclosure, making it unusable without flooding the bathroom. As a result, I used the regular shower, which was quite cramped—especially for someone of larger build. I had to open the shower door just to wash my lower body, which made for an awkward and uncomfortable experience. The most significant issue, though, was the bed. It was overly firm and not conducive to restful sleep. I inquired about switching rooms, and the staff were more than willing to assist, but I was informed that the beds throughout the hotel were similarly firm. Given the importance of sleep—especially on vacation—we made the decision to move to a different property. Would I stay again? Probably not. While the service and staff were outstanding, the lack of comfort in the room—especially the bed and overall design—did not meet the standard we expect from a 5-star hotel. For future visits to Florence, I would choose a hotel that places a greater emphasis on guest comfort and restful accommodations.

The stay was average overall and the property while clean is in need of updating to keep in line with other standards set by Bonvoy Autograph properties. Pretty basic stay when compared to the other Autograph's stays on this trip.
- MichaelM6167 (10/5): Luxury within a short walk to the train station - We chose this hotel in part because of its close proximity to the train station, as we had day trips planned. It worked very well for that purpose, but was also a perfect choice for its comfort. It had the charms of an older hotel (see photo of room key), but updated to today's standards. Our room was large and nicely furnished, with a balcony that overlooked the pool. The bath had large counter space with two sinks. The staff were all super welcoming, friendly and helpful. And, the breakfast was incredible with great choices that included an assortment of gluten-free options. We would stay here again without considering other options.

- rfb183123 (10/5): Solid All Around - Wonderful location & magnificent service by everyone we crossed paths with. Easy walking distance to all main tourist areas. Great in-house restaurant & nice adequate gym. Concierge Paolo (Elvis) is the absolute best. He takes pride in being able to meet the needs of every guest's request, from taxi cab service to dinner reservations you'll be in good, reliable hands. Harry's Bar is an absolute must! Bartenders/Servers Lapo & Simone are highly skilled, friendly & eager to share their local knowledge while engaging with visitors & guests. But by far the highlight of our trip once again was the time we spent in the evenings listening to the magic of Guiseppe, their piano player. This remarkably talented master musician is like watching a butterfly play the piano with its wings. We visited 3 yrs ago & first heard him play. Our sole reason for returning to Florence was to be fortunate enough to listen to him play once again. Don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity. He will make memories of your trip to this fascinating city & is well worth the experience.

I was quite happy when I was told that I got upgraded to a junior suite - turned out the suite has view towards the internal building / other rooms’ windows only. Got a second bathroom and larger lounge area - so we didn’t complain. Shower was fine. Facilities were standard. Nothing luxurious though as compared with other five star hotels we’ve stayed in our Italy trip. Here comes the worst part of our stay - the suite has A LOT OF HUGE MOSQUITOS. Luckily I didn’t attract them at all because my husband’s blood type was very attractive to them - unsurprisingly, my husband didn’t sleep well. He killed at least half a dozen of mosquitos while I was asleep. He even killed one before we left our disappointing room for check out. The mosquito was really long and I could see blood staining the wall, must be a fat mosquito 😓 Breakfast was not attractive - the worst among all five star hotels we’ve tried in Italy (we had better breakfasts in four star hotels we stayed before). With the same budget I’m sure I could have stayed in a better four star or even five star hotel

- dxbdoc (6/5): No air conditioning - How I wish I could have given this place 5 stars as it is indeed a pretty boutique hotel. Unfortunately, there were major lapses in my stay which prevented me from giving them a higher rating. The rooms are very small and my upgraded premier deluxe room was barely 25 square meters. The biggest shock I got was when I found the air conditioning was not working. Worse still was the explanation given to me by the staff that they only switch it on from May onwards! We were never notified beforehand of this absurd rule or else I would have definitely stayed somewhere else. More disappointing was the fact that guest relations never responded to my emails. Such issues really marred what could have been a lovely stay for us and I will never return to this property again.

The Negroni was fabulous the burger and the sandwich were terrible truly terrible .. the sandwich was what you would get at a road side gas station and my sons burger was boring and dry .. having said all that come here for the cocktails- my negroni was sensational!
- renefk67 (6/5): Disappointing 5 Star - We were pretty disappointed with our stay at this 5star hotel. The location is 20 minute walk from city center so if you want something closer this is not it. There are a lot of small shops , cafes, bakeries along the walk. The hotel itself is outdated. The bed was uncomfortable and the towel warmers didn’t work in any of the rooms we had. When we arrived after an overnight flight we had to wait for our room. Once we were in our room and tried to take a nap before further exploring they were doing construction on our floor and there was banging and drilling. They should have blocked off that area and not put people in those rooms. The positive in all this is that the staff was very pleasant and helpful. The manager Andrea changed our room to a higher floor for the next night. The staff in the restaurant for breakfast were very pleasant and accommodating. The breakfast itself was disappointing however with few choices.
- gabant15 (8/5): Great place to stay - I was nervous to stay here after reading a lot of negative reviews, and I'm so glad I ignored them. This hotel was beautiful, and the service was top notch. We loved their lobby bar - we had apertivo there more than once and it was so lovely. Our room was beautiful and spacious with a gorgeous balcony overlooking their pool area. Location was a pleasant 10-ish min walk to the main downtown area, and about the same to the other side of the Arno where most of the less tourist-trappy restaurants and bars were. There were honestly a great deal of restaurants in the neighborhood the hotel was in also and some great cafes for coffee and pastries in the morning. It's super simple to get a taxi from the hotel, and the front desk can call it for you very easily and quickly - we appreciated that help so much! My only "complaints" about my room, which really boil down to personal preference, were that the TV wasn't a smart tv, so we couldn't log into any apps and watch things we wanted to. Most of the channels are all italian - SO not important though as we spent a vast majority of our time NOT inside the room. So that was no big deal. I also found the mattress to be incredibly firm - way too firm for me and it was hard to sleep without aching. Again, that was a me-thing I'm sure. **the one last room-related complaint I have, I noticed at the hotel we stayed in Rome too, which also was a Sina property, is that theres nowhere in the shower to put your toiletries? Maybe this is an Italy thing .. or just a Sina property thing... but we had to put all of our toiletries on the floor of the shower which grosses me out/just is inconvenient to have to keep bending over onto the floor the entire duration of your shower. I feel it's important to note this as some folks perhaps can't continuously bend over like that as it's not physically possible, so just an important piece to note. (would really benefit if they added a couple of ledges in the shower for people to place things) other than my few tiny complains about the room, I honestly would stay there again - especially if i were to visit florence in the summer time as they have such a lovely pool area!
- Shera122 (10/5): A Jewel in Firenze - This property is a treasure. First the beauty of the hotel - the lobby, the bar and the rooms are all glamorous and highly well appointed for every need. I love the location away from the center of the city. The walk is always nice to explore shops and restaurants and gives me the chance to see more of the city, And then the people - the best part of the experience. Every staff member is exceptional. The manager of the restaurant at breakfast always makes sure everything is done to perfection. It’s a terrific meal and I typically don’t eat breakfast. The bartenders at the bar make the best cocktails. The staff at reception always greets with a smile and always helps with any needs. Lastly the room staff takes care of every detail to perfection. Every night the room is turned down and what’s better than little chocolates on the pillow each night?! This is my 1st choice when I’m in town. Love it.
