- 22Jh210 (2/5): Dreadful hotel - Currently staying in this hotel at the end of a Wendy wu tour of Japan. The hotel is in a good location and has direct bus links from airport however I would not recommend the hotel, the rooms are dreadful like sealed boxes with no ventilation. My observations Old in need of updating Very small rooms, we had to move rooms as they gave us a double and the bed was against the wall, so you couldn’t access both sides of the bed. The so called air conditioning dial in room produces no air at all so the rooms are unbearable, extremely hot and airless so you can’t sleep, I considered sleeping in the reception area. Kept telling them rooms are to hot but they didn’t do anything The bathroom is accessed via a big step Room so small no room for your suitcases, so don’t bring many clothes. No bar in the hotel No seating areas so if you have to checkout and wait for your transfer there is nowhere to wait Horrid end to our holiday horrid hotel if your thinking of a tour and they use this hotel don’t book with them,
- DC972 (8/5): PERFECT LOCATION - Location was great- connection to the mall and 24 hour convivence store Family Mart - great pricing - no jumping because it is in-house. Walking distance to the Ikebukuro Station. Service staff is very courteous and do try to do what is under their control. Room was clean and no disturbing noise. Big lobby well kept. The only problem is the room air circulation or lack of. Unfortunately the windows cannot be open to vent the room. If it wasn't for the air circulation I would have given this 5 star.

Overall the experience was good but the air conditioning was not our room and our floor was so hot it was very uncomfortable. When we spoke with the desk clerk we’re advised that there was nothing could be done and was offered a fan.
- stephenhA2222GX (2/5): Avoid this hotel (Sunshine City Price Hotel) by any means - We checked into three rooms for our entire family for three nights, arranged by our tour group from the U.S. The problems started immediately when my wife found two blood stains on the bedsheet in room 1418. The pillows were extremely thin, and the bathroom was equipped with only two toothbrushes. On top of that, the room was very cold and had no heating. We called the front desk, and someone came to check the air conditioning. He confirmed that the heating was not functioning and said someone would come to fix it. However, no one came, and we had to sleep in the cold that night (January 11). The next morning, we contacted the front desk and were told that we would be moved to another room on the 14th floor. Surprisingly, when we returned in the evening, we were given key cards for room 2419. I reminded them that we were promised a room on the 14th floor, especially since the key cards only work on a single floor. A male manager (with glasses) told me that due to miscommunication with his staff, we could either move back to the cold room or stay on the 24th floor, separated from our family members. He was rude and disrespectful, despite knowing that we had suffered through a cold night without heating. I have traveled to Japan many times, and this hotel—Sunshine City Prince Hotel—has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Even the breakfast was very disappointing. I ended up taking my family to the fish market instead. I strongly recommend that Gate1 **not** book this hotel for travelers, so they can have a better impression of Japan. Sunshine City Prince Hotel, shame on your customer service.

- Jennifer (10/5): - Very conveniently located as it's connected to Sunshine City Mall and less than a ten minute walk to Ikebukuro Station, and there's a Family Mart located on the first floor. The views are always spectacular. The staff are very friendly and even though the room wasn't immediately ready when using self check-in, the staff were helpful at reception and everything was sorted promptly. It's also easy to get to and from the airport with the Airport Limousine service and they have a luggage forwarding service in the lobby as well. This will always be my go-to hotel to stay in whenever I visit Tokyo.

- 1MariaTeresaMauri1 (4/5): Disgraceful - After travelling for over 12 hours, checking in was less than ideal. They have no consideration nor compassion whatsoever for elderly guests and if you arrive less than an hour before check-in and your room is ready, you still have to wait in the lobby until the designated check-in time, no matter how tired or unwell you are feeling. If you want to check into your room even a few minutes before the designated time they will charge you for the privilege. In my case I was charged 1,500 Japanese Yen which is $15.78 Australian dollars. That is outrageous!! But I just couldnt stay in the very crowded and very busy lobby any longer. The room was nothing special, in fact I have NEVER stayed in a room where they only supply two tea bags, no coffee or sugar and no teaspoon. When I called reception to tell then I dont drink tea and would like coffee, sugar and creamer, they said they do not supply. How outrageous for a hotel of this "standard". Even a 2 star hotel supplies TEA AND COFFEE facilities for their guests. I have NOTHING nice to say about this hotel and would not recommend it to anyone EVER!!

It is an interesting combination of hotel, mall, conference centre, planetarium, aquarium, etc., so generally speaking a shopping area /tourist destination. Interestingly, the Japanese have a penchant for childish pursuits. You know those claw machines that you see at fairs where you try to grab a prize and drop it through a chute, like was featured in the movie Toy Story? They have those as entertainment but on a lot larger scale called a Gaming Oasis. The ‘stuffies’ they retrieve then get attached to doll like outfits that the young girls wear!

It's 45 years old this year. The rooms are small. The windows are small (including the highest 'view' floors). The bathrooms are elevated about 6-7 inches from the floor of the rest of the room, which is higher than most here. My wife tripped the first three times coming out of the bathroom. The air conditioner control only has Off and three air volume levels, with no temperature adjustment. The bed was the most comfortable one we experienced while there. The safe is very small. They provide two Nespresso capsules and two bottles of water daily. The check-in was an absolute disaster. It took more than 45 minutes to check in starting at 3:30. To be fair, it was a Saturday on a holiday weekend. The aided self-check in kiosks as well as reception took about 10 minutes per person as did checking in at reception after waiting in a long line. They charged a 200 yen per day tax in addition to what I'd paid Expedia. This transaction alone took about 5 minutes. The breakfast buffet can be purchased for 20,000 yen with the hotel room or 30,000 yen in person. Don't bother. The food was mediocre at best, the selection small, and the dining facilities old and dated. The staff didn't keep up with refilling the coffee beans in the coffee machines, the pastries, most food items, or cleaning the tables. There is a single ice machine on the 6th floor, as well as a laundry where you can wash for 300 yen and dry for 100 yen. On the up side, the hotel has a Family Mart on the ground floor and is connected to a mall. It was very clean. Would not stay here again.
- Kwan Lok (6/5): - One of the worst check-ins in Japan, especially if you have a car and planning to come at night. We arrived at the hotel late, and asked the hotel staff about the parking. He gave us the instructions to enter the car park, we went in and because it was late, all the entrances were closed and we couldnt find a way to get out of the carpark. The car park was hot and big and there were literally no instructions to get out. We drove out (Paid to get out) and asked the hotel staff, and he accused us of not looking. There were literally no instructions. He finally took us and showed us the carpark exit (It was impossible to find underground). it was late and it took us 30 min to park and check in. So drivers and those who will arrive after the mall closing hours, beware.

- Sang (10/5): - This hotel is very clean, and its facilities are great, especially the laundry room, which is very well ventilated, unlike many hotels' laundry rooms. Air conditioning is central air. So, you can blast more than what the room can provide. But it was cool enough for my stay. It's in Ikebukuro, which is a very lively and safe place, thus a lot of shops/restaurants around. The food quality is not like central Tokyo, but it's good enough. I would come back again.

Direct access from hotel to Sunshine City mall where you can access the metro which is one stop away from main ikebukuro station. I would recommend accessing hotel via the sunshine city mall as this is easier to find. Also the airport bus stops directly outside the hotel so this is an added bonus to a nice stay. Lifts weren't an issue as there are 2 dedicated to the upper floors. Laundry facilities and family mart also available within the hotel. Would recommend this hotel and ikebukuro for a trip to Japan. Shinjuku and Shibuya are both accessible on train within 10 mins
- GlobaltravellerG (6/5): A Good 3- Star Hotel - A good three-star hotel. The room was small, with a small functional bathroom, but kept very clean. Water pressure on the shower was excellent. Buffet style breakfast was quite good. No gym. The hotel shop is well stocked and the very patient shop assistant let me use my rail cards and small change on the night before we departed. Hotel is located in a shopping centre and is 5-10 minutes walk from the nearest (Y10) subway station. Airport Limosine Bus services to Narita can be booked online and depart from the front of the hotel.

The hotel offers direct airport drop-off/ pick up via bus limousine. If you have kids, like me, this is the place! Most restaurants allow kids/strollers. Will definitely come back!
- Megumi (8/5): Good location mediocre food - Very convenient location for shopping and access to Narita Airport. There is a shuttle bus stop from/to Narita right in front of the hotel. However, it is bit of a walk from the JR Ikebukuro Station. I had two suitcases with two children. Should have just taken a taxi from the station. Without suitcases and small kids it shouldn’t be a problem. The hotel is literally connected to Ikebukuro Sunshine - great access to Pokemon Center, Aquarium etc. Hotel breakfast is at best mediocre. I’ll probably stay again if I were flying out of Narita but probably not including the breakfast option.

- Garry (10/5): Worth A Stay - We were initially concerned that it was to far from the sights we wished to take in, but this proved not to be the case. The Metro was a short walk from the hotel. The shopping facilities in The Sunshine City Mall were incredible. The staff were attentive and always willing to help. The room, although a little different by European standards was large and adequate, but there were not any drawers for storage and no cupboards. The view from the Panorama Room was awesome.

Other than that, the hotel was fine. I am not sure if I would book this hotel again in the future.

- luv2trvl808 (8/5): Great stay - This was my second time staying at this hotel. The reason for the repeat stay is because of Sunshine mall and the convenience of the limousine bus pickup; however, the walk to the station is pretty far. Though its only 11 mins, it seems a lot further. But the room size for 3 beds are pretty decent. A lot of tour groups seem to stay at this hotel. Love that there is a family mart inside the hotel lobby and the mall is accessible from the lobby as well.

Good size bed, Great location The hotel is inside a shopping mall which is huge. Close to the metro station Nice toiletries, good quality and easy to get out of the containers. Safe Fridge Kettle Coffee machine with pods. They changed my sheets after one night. However the check in process was incredibly slow.

- russellmX2176AH (8/5): Good location, good service and facilities. - The location of this hotel is ideal. It’s attached to the sunshine mall so if you need a quick meal and a beer after a long flight you don’t need to go far. It’s in walking distance of ikebukuro station on the circle line from which you can get pretty much everywhere with ease. Plenty of food options close to the hotel and there is a 7/11 just off from reception where we picked up the most delicious egg sandwiches and rice balls for breakfast. Our room was small, the only access to the bed was from the end or one side, not a problem for us but if you have mobility issues you might need to think about this. There is a washer/dryer room in the hotel, instructions could be clearer but with the aid of google translate and other users we figured it out. Irons are requested from housekeeping and come quickly when requested. Housekeeping was excellent, room was kept spotless. At busy times you have to queue for quite a while if you need reception and there is no bar in the hotel which was disappointing

- HT01 (8/5): A Big Modern Hotel - A big, modern, and busy hotel. Service and facilities were good. It also has its own convenience store and is part of the Sunshine City mall with many retail and restaurant outlets. The latter are good and better value than the hotels. The room was quite functional and small but did the job. This is more an American type of hotel full of Westerners tourists with not much Japenese culture.

It is right next to if not part of a massive shopping mall so you feel the vibe of the city straight away. Hotel staff is really helpful and respectful. - Verified traveler (6/5): - This is not the first time I stayed in this hotel. The hotel has some renovation compared to my last stay. The check-in was good. However, they just did part of the room clean-up during my stay. They didn't change the used cups and glasses and replenish the tea bags and coffee. I called the Room Service Counter, they hang up on me when I spoke in English. I then called the Receptionist, they did the same when hear English speaking. I have to go down to the front desk from my room. I felt that I was not the first one reporting the issue to the Receptionist as she did not try to listen to my request but just asked how many water bottles, tea bags and coffees I needed.
- AlexTheJock (8/5): Nice hotel in a good location - My wife and I, and two long-time friends, all of us senior citizens, stayed at this hotel on a room only basis for three nights prior to joining a cruise ship and it wasn’t too bad at all. Check-in was done in no time at all and we were soon in our rooms. Both couples had a twin room on one of the Sunshine floors, so we had a fabulous view of the city, and the rooms were also a good size. Everything we required to make us comfortable for our short stay was in the room (TV (although we couldn’t figure out how it worked, so was never watched, but then again, we were out and about from early to late every day), two large comfortable beds with good quality linen, brew kit including kettle, fridge, safe (this wasn’t affixed to anything, so could be picked up and removed – not so secure), slippers, nightwear (one size fits all robes – not very useable, so take your own sleepwear), hairdryer, air conditioner (this was useless, and the room was so warm all the time – you couldn’t even open the windows), shoe horn, hangers (there is ample hanging space, but certainly not enough storage space), deodorant (it states this on the hotel’s website, but it is in fact room deodorising spray, not body deodorant), razor with cream, toothbrushes and paste, toiletries and good quality towels). The hotel is also so well situated – it’s above the shopping centre, so plenty of places to eat. It’s also not far from a subway station that can get you to all of the places of interest in no time at all. WiFi was free and quite fast. We would definitely recommend this hotel, and we would use it again.

- vastgotta (6/5): Great location and friendly service, but rooms too warm - We stayed at the Sunshine City Prince Hotel for four nights and had a great experience overall. We were allowed to check in 30 minutes early, which was a nice gesture and much appreciated after a long journey. Starting with the only downside: the rooms were too warm for our liking. The air conditioning system doesn’t allow you to set a specific temperature — you can only adjust the fan to low, medium, or high. We initially found our room uncomfortably warm and mentioned it at reception. The staff were very friendly and immediately offered us another room. We were lucky that the new room was larger, but unfortunately, it wasn’t much cooler. Apart from that, everything else was very positive. The location is absolutely brilliant for exploring Tokyo — it’s situated right on top of a large shopping mall with plenty of restaurants, a Starbucks, a Subway, and more. There’s also a 24-hour Family Mart conveniently located inside the hotel. We didn’t use many of the other hotel facilities, but we did have laundry done twice during our stay. Both times it was handled well, with everything returned to our room promptly and in good condition. All in all, a very good stay thanks to the excellent service and perfect location — just be aware that room temperatures might be on the warmer side.
- 474guyn (8/5): Perfect location for shopping and exploring - Great location for access to shopping with undercover access to close by metro station. Great facilities, and we had a comfortable floor 30 superior room which was spacious and had stunning views over Tokyo. Well equipped (including jet wash japanese toilet.) Bed is on the firm side but after a day of exploring sleep isn't an issue. Only disappointment was the faulty wifi that never worked in the 4 days we were there.

But i dont know if they were short staffed or something but we came back several days at around 4 oclock pm and our room had not been cleaned yet, on those days we just asked that they take away our trash and leave us fresh towels. As for the beds im not sure if its a cultural.thing but they felt hard almost worn and i swear you could feel the springs in the beds. The hotel was celebrating its 45th anniversary and i have a feeling our room hadn't had many touch ups since it opened 45 years ago. Not to mention the thin walls someone upstairs from is probably had kids running around at 11pm and we called the front desk to ask them to quiet down but im not to sure they did anything as the noise continued on for at least another hour. I originally chose to stay here because i did last year and had nothing but an amazing experience with this hotel. But this year was almost a 180 from that last time. I'm hoping the hotel will reevaluate and insure the quailty in all of their room because for a place that is supposedly a high rated hotel its quality consistency leaves something to be desired as I pay more to receive a certain level of quality and this stay was not it.
- janbrad (8/5): Very good hotel near good transport links - Stayed here for three nights on a land tour of Japan before Celebrity cruise. Hotel is clean with good amenities. Room was very good with great view. Everything was spotlessly clean. It was near to subway system which we used to get around Tokyo. Note that there are English speaking attendants at the station to help. The hotel is situated above a small shopping mall with good shops and restaurants, particularly Cafe Keyser with wonderful pastries for breakfast and the Italian restaurant in the evening.

The rooms were clean and tidy and spacious . Had the amenities I required . The new room on 23rd floor was reasonable. Beds were hard, bathrooms small. Air conditioner worked which was good. Room was clean, however a hit noisy as it was near the elevators. Breakfast was good but crowded. Lifts were slow. Checkin was extremely busy. Good location near heaps of shopping and restaurants. Easy to get around. Overall great hotel for short city stay.
- Jose (10/5): - Really Good, clean and nice. Only issue I had was that the rooms was hotter than it should had been.
- Yim Jung (10/5): - Great Location, Clean, Enjoyable City View. The only uncomfortable thing was that there was no closet, but it had a hanger on the wall.
- CECILIA (10/5): - Great place
- Gavan (10/5): - Great location, great staff, great dining options right outside in the mall which is attached to the hotel.
- Fulgencio (8/5): - Location was really nice and convenient.
- Cody (4/5): - This Hotel did not have Air conditioning and the room was very hot the first night. I spoke to the front desk and they did offer any solutions to help cool the room. I just happened to ask if they have a fan and i was told "yes" and they brought it to me and it help. The beds were uncomfortable and the pillow felt almost no existent.
