• bibliobabe (10/5): Dorsoduro dreams - Lovely hotel in the more residential Dosoduro area of Venice. Very quiet section,especially at night. You are around the corner from the Peggy Guggenheim home/ museum. That should give you a sense of the area. We had a room with a small terrace and it was splendid to sit out there in the late afternoon and watch the gondolas go by or the groceries being delivered by boat. Pretty room, photos are reasonably accurate, helpful front desk, no real cocktail lounge.. My only suggestion and caveat: the shower floor is slippery. Grab bars are cheap. Loved it here

• LSU_1 (10/5): A hidden gem! - This hotel was excellent. Great location, close to Accademia bridge and Vaporetto station. Moderately priced with a few rooms for 4 people! I booked 3 other hotels before I found this gem! It was exactly what we were looking for! Complimentary breakfast (which was great), modern and large family rooms! I would book this hotel again!
• Martin (9/5): Excellent find. Great staff and great location. - Lovely, quiet location but not far to walk to the centre and near the academia bridge. Well worth paying for the rooms with canal view, which also gets the sun on the balcony late afternoon/early evening. Lovely decor and clean throughout. Staff very friendly and attentive. I wasn’t expecting the breakfast to be up to much but it was very good, lots of choice and all very tasty. Bed was a little hard but not overly so. Quiet location but could hear the service vehicles in the morning. I am being over picky here. Overall it was great.

• x571 (8/5): Fantastic stay, fantastic location for a quiet stay - Lovely stay at Hotel American Dinesen. We booked direct through the hotel website foe thr best price and was allocated a room on the 3rd floor with res damask wallpaper, comfy bed and lovely wooden beams at the ceiling. Staff was warm and friendly, gave us maps and instructions on the landmarks nearby. Location-wise, it’s in the quieter part of Venice so plenty of nice, quiet canals, friendly restaurants without the heaving crowds of St Mark’s Square. It’s about 4-5 min walk to Accademia vaporetto station and the iconic wooden bridge with fantastic views of the Grand Canak during sunrise and sunset. So near the Peggy Guggenheim museum as well. Highly recommend the Ai Cugnai 1911 restaurant two minutes away for a good lunch or dinner. Only bug was we didn’t get housekeeping despite hanging a ‘make up the room’ sign at the door. We had to request for fresh set of towels and someone to clear the rubbish which we knotted in the bag provided. The rather fierce Indian staff was blaming us for hanging the sign the wrong way round, although I made sure it was on the right way round before leaving. Both sides of the sign was the same colour which may have misled the housekeeper. I felt that the staff could just apologise for the oversight instead of instructing us quite loudly and bluntly to just don’t leave the sign outside the door. So my suggestion to the hotel is to change the ‘make the room/do not disturb’ sign’ to different sided colours. Would have rate it as a perfect stay except for that.

• foodie023 (10/5): This hotel is great, in a fabulous district of Venice - The location of the Hotel American-Dinesen was perfect. Located in the quieter area of Dorsodouro, it's a fabulous hotel. Easy to get to the major attractions and to the water transportation vehicles. Restaurants close by, a lovely hotel. Rooms were well appointed, staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a bonus, very good. Would highly recommend this hotel - has all the amenities one would need.

• pamdman (10/5): Wonderful hotel - We just stayed at Hotel American-Dinesen for our second time. We love this hotel. It is in a wonderful location in Venice - very easy to walk or take traghetto to St Mark's Piazza. The staff is wonderful! From the helpful front desk, cleaning staff and wonderful breakfast staff. The small balcony off our room on the side canal is so enjoyable to watch all the water activity of the neighborhood. A real gem and we will return.

Plenty of bars and restaurants within easy reach. We were given a map of Venice to help us navigate. Breakfast was great with plenty of choice. All 3 rooms were clean, tidy and beautifully furnished, with great ensuites across all rooms. All the staff at the hotel were warm, and friendly as well as being very helpful to us on what was our first visit to Venice. Brilliant location, just 15 minutes and a few bridges from St. Marks square. Would highly recommend.

• Safari42465475376 (10/5): Great visit to Venice. - This extremely pleasant hotel is a great pick for a visit to Venice. It is located in the Dorsoduro/Accademia sestiere. It is seconds away from the Accademia and Peggy Guggenheim Collection and a 15 minute walk from Piazza San Marco. There are abundance of great restaurants nearby. Our room (an upgrade provided by management) had a view over a small canal. Rooms were spotless, comfortable and quiet. The Dorsoduro is less travelled than other Venetian neighborhoods. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was excellent. We loved our stay there.

Rooms are very clean , with an elegant, yet Venetian , interior decoration. The whole atmosphere due to decorations is toward art, and elegant design. Breakfast is very good, and plenty.Good coffee !

My only issue was the lack of charging sockets which I know the rooms in the main hotel have. It’s a lovely place with very friendly and helpful staff. The location is great and I would definitely recommend staying here, it was the second time for my family and me and we hope to stay again soon.

• Per (9/5): A very comfortable stay at a nice hotel. - Great location along a non-busy canal. Very helpful and responsive staff. Our room, that did not have view of the canal, was nice and clean. Great breakfast. We liked the property. The only thing wrong was that the shower door gasket did not seal correctly so it caused major flooding in the bathroom. But obviously this must have been corrected by now.

• James (7/5): Nice, cold room in a great neighborhood. - The room was nice and the bellman/houseman was amazing. The guy never stopped moving. Room was cold. There was no way to turn up the thermostat. The front desk clerk had access to the temps in every room, but no real way to turn up the head. All they could offer was a space heater for the room. It's late October and raining--- you want a cozy warm room to return to. Also, desk was unwilling to follow logical suggestions about the rate for different rooms. Company line was quoted rather that actual discussion about the realities.

We were so happy we made the decision to stay in this area as it was quiet yet not far from the major sites and very convenient. Our room was lovely and immaculately clean. Everyone at the hotel was helpful and friendly. Very nice happy hour as well as breakfast buffet. I would easily stay here again if we are ever able to return to Venice

• TheBoCH (9/5): Super Hotel für die Erkundung von Venedig - Top Lage direkt in Venedig. Sehr guter Ausgangspunkt für die Erkundung der Stadt. Man befindet sich direkt an den Kanälen. Eine Vaporetto Station ist sehr nahe gelegen. Man erreicht das Hotel somit sehr gut vom Parkhaus auf Tronchetto.

• GirlieTraveller17 (10/5): Excellent stay at Hotel American Dinesen - My husband, along with his brother and wife, spent 5 nights at Hotel American in Venice. We all highly recommend this hotel and would easily return there should we ever go back to Venice. The staff were incredibly helpful, organizing water taxis, making reservations and helping us understand the vaporetto system! Our room was very clean and spacious, especially the modern bathroom. We love the location because it’s quiet and away from the busy areas yet easily accessible as it is a 3 minute walk to the Accademia Bridge. Happy Hour happens everyday 5:30-6:30 which included cicchetti! There are many excellent restaurants in the neighbourhood; be sure to ask the front desk for recommendations as we did and thus ended up at a lovely local restaurant that we probably would never have found on our own. Breakfast was a mixture of American and European easily meeting everyone’s needs. The pastries and other goodies were irresistible! Overall, we have only positive comments about this lovely hotel.
