Volvería sin duda! No nos gustó no tener café para tomar luego después del desayuno en cualquier momento. Faltaría algún estante para guardar las cosas de baño.

• Deven (10/5): - Mauricio was amazing in helping is get situated. The place is on the second floor and you need help using the elevator. We had the Filippo I suite. It is quite roomy. The ceiling is a work of art. The bathroom had plenty of room for places to hang towels. The bed is comfortable and the technology for the lights and ordering breakfast in good. We enjoyed having breakfast delivered to the door and it was tasty. Not a lot of options but for a neopolitan breakfast you don't need much. Staying in the Spanish district has a lot of advantages including a lot of restaurants near by. Ask for recommendations. Also close (about 11 minute walk) to the beginning of the hop on hop off tour. Definitely recommend staying here.

The accommodation is in a perfect location, right in the heart of the Spanish Quarter – close to the port, promenades, great restaurants, and many of the city’s main attractions. The apartment is clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, offering a fantastic experience in many ways. But what truly stands out is the host, Maurizio. He is incredibly helpful, explains everything clearly, and provides excellent tips for exploring Naples. It’s rare to meet such a thoughtful and dedicated host! If you’re planning a trip to Naples, this place is an excellent choice.

They had recommended great restaurants within walking distance and how to best enjoy the city. Highly recommend this unique experience.
• Gregorio (10/5): If you like a food, plenty of nice ristorante around - The room was nice, spacious, clean, high ceiling, large windows with double glass, also elevator or palace stairs. The service was hightech with application for room breakfast booking, the location in famouse Spanish district with plenty of taverna, café, shops, close distance to harbour Molo where you get on Alibus to the airport in about 30mins, 5 eur per person. As we stay 3 night, the menu for breakfast was the same, I would expect something else than only sweet food. We got café, juice, yougurt,croissant, breakfast, better, Milk, we prefered some cheese or ham, hard boild eggs for change. During our stay was noise ( both mopeds, cars, group, hooligans) on the street even at 4am, so didnt have change to sleep during holiday as we wanted to see city attactions and museums, castles, local market, never mind. We will come back again.

• Ian (10/5): - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this delightful Boutique style accommodation in a traditional mixed use courtyard building. Set in the characterful Spanish quarter it provides an authentic Neapolitan experience with the lively Spaccanapoli a short walk and a wide choice of bars and restaurants in the narrow streets close by. (The Spanish Quarter streets may be a challenge for those using walking aids.) The port, opera, Galleria Umberto I and Royal Palace are all readily accessible. The hosts were very helpful and we will not hesitate to book again for our next trip to Naples.
• Helga (10/5): Neapolitan Charm within the Old Quarter - The San Mattia is in the.heart of the old Spanish Quarter with all its attendant chaos and liveliness. It is the Naples everyone thinks of when considering this city. The property is in a centuries old building which, like all in the area looks onto a very narrow but relatively quiet street. The only drawback can be the fairly long uphill if you have mobility issues and the sometimes frightening moto activity, but it is part of the Naples charm. The San Mattia is historic 17th century with modern amenities. Simple in style and pleasantly charming. The hosts, Giovanni and Maurizio are very accommodating and helpful and always available via app to lend a hand. The breakfast is Italian, so cold, and always served outside the room and early. My only wish would have been for more coffee. In short, this is a lovely niche in which to experience the real Napoli with everything within good walking distance. The metro is an easy walk to get you to other parts of the city and you are only steps from the main shopping area on the via Toledo. If you wish to have an authentic Neapolitan experience, this is an excellent place to stay.

• christine (10/5): Splendido !! - Sent a message that we had arrived and we were met at the property by the hosts. Immediately transported back in time, huge stone archway into an inner courtyard. Small lift to use or two flights of wide stone stairs, we found them manageable. Our hosts Maurizio and Giovanni were friendly and explained everything perfectly. We felt extremely welcome throughout our 3 night stay. Our historical room had a modern clean bathroom with large shower, shampoo and gel provided. There was a good sized fridge, microwave and coffee maker (pods provided) WIFI connection fine. Air Con good. Easy to use breakfast ordering via pad on the wall, we found more than enough selection. The large bed was especially comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble for Maurizio and Giovanni. The property is in whats known as the Spanish Quarter of the city , turn left out of the property take second or third right and immerse yourself around all the streets, there is plentiful places to eat in the evening all good value. A real Napoli hit to the senses. If you want a more modern vibe just keep walking straight down the hill. We would definitely stay at Residence San Mattia again, excellent and authentic. Thanks guys.
• John (10/5): Beautiful, quiet and comfortable haven amidst the bustle of Naples. - Beautiful, spacious, centrally convenient accommodation in the Spagnioli Quarter of Naples. Housed in a tall 300 year old tenement block, the room has a beautifully restored painted ceiling and frescoes. Very attentive and helpful hosts.
• Verified traveler (10/5): Highly recommend for peace & quiet! - Everything about my stay was amazing. From the start, Maurizio and Giovanni reached out to me to arrange check in times and make sure I arrived safely! I chose the bnb originally for the quiet location and the a/c, and it met both requirements. There is a wall a/c with a remote, so you can set the temperature to your preference. With the windows shut it's comfy, cool, and quiet all night! Breakfast is delivered outside your door, and you can select in advance from an online menu, even while you are out. The hosts also kindly provided my breakfast the night before my early morning tours, so I never had to go without. Only a few things to be aware of: my taxi had a hard time finding a route to the bnb due to road blocks. I imagine the hosts might have helped if I asked because they arranged my taxi out for me. The closet metro stop is Toledo, ~10 mins away, but you have to climb a flight of stairs on the way back to the bnb, as well as 2 long flights up to the room, which can be a lot at the end of a long day. An outdoor elevator at the property costs 20 cents but I couldn't be bothered to search for the change. While the bnb is rather out of the way of the main sites, it's very close to San Carlo Theatre. There is also no laundry, you have to use a public laundromat. Finally, special shout out to my hosts who gave me a cold pack when I needed help after twisting my ankle! Thank you so much!! Overall, excellent stay and I hope to be back.
• Tereena (10/5): Beautiful room with wonderful hosts - If you are looking for a lovely room with attentive hosts in the heart of the Spanish quarters this is the place to go. The hosts were so very helpful starting a few days before arrival to make sure you have all the info you need when travelling to a foreign country and checked in frequently during the stay. The room is spacious and comfortable. I stayed in a room with the street view and enjoyed being able to throw open the big windows and enjoy the sights and sounds of the area but when you close the windows the noises of the neighborhood disappear and it is quiet for sleeping. There is lots of very good food nearby and the location offers good access to metro as well as easy walking distance to all the sites in Centro histórico. PS the breakfast is lovely, you can customize your selection the day before. If I was to return I would stay here again for sure.

• Helena (8/5): Very good - This is a really unique room and I feel like it’s good value for money. As you can see from the photos, the room has many historic and antique features and it makes it very special. But the facilities like the bathroom and shower are new and there is a lift to the 2nd floor of the building where the accomodation is located which is great. The host is very nice and personable. There was an option to leave our stuff after the check-out if needed (we did not need it) and it seemed like it is not a problem at all. The communication prior to our arrival was also very good and the host was waiting for us even though out flight was an hour and a half late. The location is excellent for exploring the city and eating at local restaurants. The breakfast - as many reviews said, the idea is nice, but it lacks the variaty in terms of not sweet food. The Italians eat sweet food for breakfast so it is fine if the property wanted to make it local (even though I would still expect at least one or two salty options). But then it would make more sense to be offered typical pastries from local bakeries. But most of the offered food seemd like it was from the store, not the bakery and not the local flavors, but cookies, muffins, pre-packaged fruit tarts… And I don’t get why, because local bakeries are not that expensive so I don’t think it’s because of the money. So, there is a lot that could be improved in terms of breakfast, and it is an easy improvement. The bed - it is really shaky and uncomfortable. The toilet seat has seen better days and could be changed for a new one. The noise - even though the location is great for exploring, the downside is the noise from the streets and also inside the building, so bring your earplugs. The windows are new and triple glazed but Napoli i such a loud city even that is not enough. But the hosts cannot do anything about that, this is just a tip for anybody who is a light sleeper. The other downside of a central location is that you need to drag your suitcases along cobblestone roads, among crowds and up some steps. It wasn’t a problem for us, but just something to keep in mind.
• Zuzana (8/5): Very good - Great location, safe, close to the metro station, port, or even walking distance most of the attractions. Lots of restaurants around. Staff was very helpful and flexible. The bed was awfuly unconfortable. :( The accomodation is on the second floor (more like fourth- high floors), which was bit hard with laggages. Later lift key was available. :)

Location in the heart of Spanish Quarters of Naples. Near plenty of restaurants and shopping. Walkable to the ferry ports. Streets are narrow in this area so the taxis may be reluctant to drop you off exactly at the address. Expect to walk after drop off.
• Jennifer (8/5): Really lovely - Space, bathroom modern, traditional feel to the apartment. Wonderful location! Nothing that we disliked although as others have mentioned the breakfast was not great, but it didn’t really matter as the place was charming and the host was so so helpful.

• Laszlo (8/5): We really enjoyed our stay there, where we made a 'medieval' romantic experience of Naples. - The location of the accommodation was very central, close (3 minutes walk) to the metro station, shopping street, excellent restaurants, but also to tourist attractions, such as the royal palace, museums, S't Elmo and Nuovo palaces and to the see, etc. The host was very kind, helped us with everything, responded immediately and took care of things quickly. He provided excellent service. The streetscape is 'old town', but the accommodation itself is very unique with its painted ceiling, modern bathroom and built-in smart home control features.

• Alberto (10/5): THE place to stay in Naples - There’s nothing to complain. The apartment was very nice, located 6 minutes walking from Piazza del plebiscito, near to restaurants and other attractions by day and places to enjoy the night life. Room, kitchen and bathroom very clean and spacious. The photos don’t make justice to the apartment, it’s beautiful! The elevator uses a 20 cents coin to operate but the host give us 2 coins to use it. Maybe, 2 card keys for the apartment would help, but it wasn’t a big problem for me. The attention of the host was more than great, we arrived almost at midnight and he welcomed us and even gave us food and a Coke, the best one I’ve ever had after a 20 hours flight. When we left the apartment, he fixed us with a taxi driver from the apartment’s door to the train station. Definitely 10/10 ⭐️ Will stay again here when in Naples.

• Kirsty (10/5): Great location and fabulous - Great place as base to visit Naples, the building not much to look at from outside and no signage but goggle map takes you straight there. Communication before arrival excellent via WhatsAp and Giovanna met us at the property and was so very helpful - he gave guidance on tours, ordered taxi to airport (fixed rate €25) and was very amenable with breakfast times. The room is lovely with fantastic alfresco on the ceiling, the bed is so very comfortable and the bathroom extremely modern. Breakfast is delivered to the table outside the door to eat in your room. There is an ipad on the wall in the room from which you can look up various information and also order your breakfast for the following day - very clever. We visited in March 2023 - perfect time to visit with minimal crowds so we were able to do so much in a short space of time - however it helps if you plan your time before :) Room is on the 2nd floor, there if a lift however you need 20 cents per ride (we only used when we had our bags). In the room there is a fridge, microwave and coffee machine. Lots of small local stores to be able to buy a few things (including fresh milk if, like me, you want milk in your tea :) ) Great find, good value for money, loved the place and will happily stay again and definitely recommend. There is a slight step up into the bathroom which gets slippery when the shower has been used - soon fixed by moving the bath floor towel. There is no kettle, you can use the coffee machine for hot water however it is tainted by coffee, heating water in the microwave is not the same! .... really minor complaint and only as I love my tea!

• Tomáš (9/5): Modern accommodation in living district. - I can highly recommend this accomodation as everything was great and smooth 👍🏼. Landlord was helpful and kind and most things were solved via WhatsApp. Bedroom and even bathroom were clean ✨, well furnished with modern equipment and with awesome historical celling 🤩. The street was busy 🔊 even during the night 🌃 so be prepared for that noise. My biggest "issue" was with breakfast, which contains mostly sweet food 😐. No sausages, scrambled eggs, no hot food, etc.

• Paweł (6/5): All in all our stay was great, though we experienced certain inconveniences. - I loved the authenticity of the place. It was something different to live in historic building with that amazing ceiling and wardrobe. There was a very good contact with the owners via whatsapp. The object was centrally located. I think they were helpful and one of them also very tactful and professional. The breakfast was not very varied and didn't contain fresh products (except bread). The apartament was very moldy. I know that it's an old building but the mold stains on the walls activated my mold allerfy and kinda disgust me. The apartament was generally clean but there were some deficiencies in the bathroom. There was also a problem with plumbing and there was a bad smell of it and mustiness in the room. The apartament is extremely acoustic so u that u can not feel comfortable because your neighbours can hear each word. The cleaning (including adding new toillet paper and taking out the trash) was only each 3rd day.

• Stuart (10/5): Fabulous Location in the heart of the Spanish Quarter - Right from the start of arriving in the wonderful chaos that is Naples, we were driven through the backstreets of the Spanish Quarter to Residence San Mattia. Maurizio, was fabulous at communicating with us (via WhasApp) and we were able to check in slightly early. He was absolutely brilliant at welcoming us in to the property and giving us local information. After we explored the city we both agreed that the location was fantastic, safe and we wouldn't have wanted to stay anywhere else with it being so close to the main parts of the city. The property itself was spotless, well organised and very comfortable. I'd have no hesitation of recommending Residence San Mattia to a friend. Nothing
• David (10/5): - The San Mattia is a small hotel in two floors of a centuries old building in the Spanish Quarter of Naples. It’s in a great location, very near shopping, restaurants and within a 15 minute walk of many of the “must see” sights of Naples. Our room was very nicely furnished with high ceilings and extremely tall windows overlooking the street below. It was also very quiet. Our breakfast was left each morning in the hallway just outside our room. The hosts were helpful, responsive, and very accommodating , especially when we had technical problems with the initial booking. We highly recommend the Residence San Mattia.
