The staff is so friendly, the hotel is beautiful and comfortable. Even when it's busy, it never feels stressful. It's a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city.
- Quest672401 (4/5): Disappointing. - The Lowell is lovely but not in winter. The whole hotel was underheated and many complained. Their resturant Majorelle is to be strictly avoided. The food is good but not outstanding and exorbitantly priced. $900 for two including four glasses of ordinary wine and tip. I saw a woman hand the maitre d' some money (in an obvious way) and was shown to an excellent table in the center of the restaurant. We did not bribe the maitre d' and were given a bad table in a corner. I asked for a similar table the woman was given and was told "no." Literally. The hotel's small bar "Jacques" is delightful and recommended. You can order food there. At $1400 per night you're better off not staying at the Lowell.

We loved the scented soaps, shampoo and body lotion. Huge fluffy towels in the bathrooms. The bed was very comfortable. We liked having a fireplace in the room although we never used it. (Next time!). But it was the staff that really made it a special place. Everyone from the doormen, the front desk staff , the breakfast room waiters to the housekeeping staff were attentive, kind, warm and friendly. We especially enjoyed the bar and the lounge- beautiful spaces for relaxing. It really was a home away from home.

Such a beautiful and safe location and walkable to all the amazing shopping and restaurants that the city has to offer. I stayed for 16 days and was treated like a Princess. Everyone from the valet, front desk, housekeeping to management were so kind to me. The hotel is so lovely and spotless and room service was delicious. I can't say enough positive things about The Lowell Hotel. I am returning for my 3rd trip in October and can't wait!

The staff greeted us like old friends - each one went out of their way to make us comfortable. Our suite was spacious and beautifully decorated, and our housekeeper kept it in perfect order. We love Jacques Bar - the epitome of Upper East Side sophistication, with delicious food to go along with the imaginative cocktails. Dinner at Majorelle is not to be missed. The Lowell's location makes it easy to visit the shops on Madison Avenue, Central Park, the Frick Collection and the Metropolitan Museum. It's the perfect spot. We love staying there and can't wait for our next visit.

The loyal staff are always excellent. The location cannot be beat. The restaurants avoid - they are not worth what they are charging -sad to say a souffle doesn't not make up for mediocre food. Room service, however was fantastic. I think the Sous Chef should be promoted and have his/her own restaurant. NYC is a place I love - and this was my favorite hotel. Off to another - that offers me more and treats me like I am customer worth keeping.

I feel compelled to write this because I have been so personally inconvenienced by the lack of care the hotel treated me as a guest who had left something valuable for work behind in my room. My request to have my valuable work product returned to me was brushed off. It is my opinion that a hotel of this caliber should treat frequent and returning guests---I have stayed in this hotel three times over the past several months-- (for that matter, all guests) with respect and care. if the Lowell is unable to provide this level of customer service perhaps the establishment should reconsider its rates.

- vygurl (8/5): Afternoon Tea in New York City, NY - LILY OF THE VALLEY REVIEW ONLY. Came here Saturday for their Lily of the Valley Afternoon Tea in collaboration with Dior Maison. We got seated in the enclosed outdoor patio—cute decor but the area was a bit narrow and we felt a bit squished. Some chairs had a Christian Dior pillow but not all. Not really any “Dior” decor overall. My friends and I got the “Lily of the Valley” package—presentation was cute. The savory items were decent and there sweet pastries were okay. The Green Tea Nuit a Versailles was pretty good! For extra charge, they offered a selection of cake and cookies (Dior Bar Jacket cookies, Pink Cake, Madeleines)—the overall look for these items was disappointing, poorly decorated. However, service here was excellent, A+. Staff were quite friendly and helpful.

Well I’ve been fortunate to stay in some of the best hotels in New York - from the Peninsula to the Langham to the Pierre, and they are all very, very good. But The Lowell is simply a different level. It feels FAR more like staying with a very thoughtful friend in their home than a hotel. The rooms feel anything but generic - thoughtfully furnished, with everything you could imagine needing on hand. Super comfortable bed you’ll never want to leave to a lovely bathroom with a refreshing shower when you do! Tons of space, yet also cozy and welcoming, the level of detail is rewarding to this designers brain! The restaurant is simply exquisite, and the dinner I had with dear friends was remarkable. If you visit The Lowell, do t forget to check out the library / club room - so many incredible books, I could stay there for days!! But the icing on an already wonderful cake is the remarkable staff - friendly, warm, welcoming and nothing is too much trouble - it feels FAR less like staying in a hotel, and more like a homecoming. Hospitality is HARD. There is a razor thin gap between luxurious but sterile, and welcoming and warm. Between seamless service and attention, and fawning and obsequious. What EVERYONE at The Lowell from the top down do is make the very hard, look effortless and easy. Stay at The Lowell. You won’t be disappointed, and it will feel like home.

Every single worker, from the front desk to the room caretakers seem to enjoy being helpful. In my opinion, this trait is something that cannot be taught. I came here with my fiancée for a proposal and they helped at every chance they could. The service was the best I’ve ever had in a hotel. The only issue I had was with reserving the room. I was under the impression with the reservation I made that I would have a room with a terrace (after seeing an option for terrace or fireplace), but I was given a room without the terrace or fireplace. Can’t say if it was the issue of the hotel or this website, but it was disappointing either way.

The nicest doorman of any hotel I’ve stayed at. I used to live on the UES and it was nice to walk out the door and feel like you were in a neighborhood and not slammed with tourists and such, but so much is walking distance. Made me fall in love with NYC all over again.

I have stayed in many, many fine hotels in the states and in Europe, but never, repeat, NEVER met a finer, more competent, caring, and most certainly, genuinely friendlier staff in any of them. As anyone who has visited Manhattan knows, whatever one wishes can be found there, but it is the staff at the Lowell that made my visit the most unforgettable five days that I have ever experienced.

The breakfast was excellent although full disclosure, I only had fresh fruit, but it was very good. I love the chocolates in the lobby. The location is fantasric and the size of my bathroom was fabulous. Housekeeping was fabulous. Everything was great. My only wish is that they get down comforters on their beds. I don’t know why this is so difficult for hotels but I just want a down comforter. It was almost $1000 a night I feel like that warrants a down comforter outside of that absolutely wonderful..

- Elizabeth (10/5): The Very Best - This week was my second stay at this beautiful and elegant hotel, and it was wonderful. Everything was absolute perfection. The entire staff (including Emelie at the front desk) was incredibly gracious and helpful in every way possible. My accommodations were lovely and exactly what you would expect from the #1 hotel in NYC. Be sure to dine at the hotel's restaurant, Majorelle. Jacques is most charming and gracious (as is Guillame) and the food is the very best you will find in NYC. Does all of this come at a price? Yes. But, in my opinion, it is well worth it. My highest praise and highest recommendation for this exceptional hotel.
- Adrianna (8/5): - The Lowell is a beautiful, well kept facility that treats you like royalty. Overall the place is spotless, beautifully decorated and luxurious. The only reason for my less than perfect rating was that we found that one if the towels had make-up on it presumably from the past occupant. When we notified the staff they not only profusely apologized, but changed out all of the linens immediately. We will absolutely stay there again in the future.

The rooms are lovely, but damage to walls/floors is starting to show. Maybe a little refreshing is due, because the place is enjoyed so well. Staff is always top notch and helpful!

I was up most of the night as it went on and off. We asked to move the next night and were accommodated. I did get the impression we were initially given one of the worst rooms, although it was over $800 and not the entry level room choice.
