The room was comfortable except for the bed - I like the size of the room and the water pressure in the shower and the hot water was very nice in the staff were extremely nice The bed was hard as a rock and not comfortable at all plus, the hotel is kind of out of the way, and not many restaurants near the hotel to choose from. Also, the Japanese restaurant in the basement I could never find it. Pour instructions on how to get there.

- peonybaby (10/5): Our new favorite hotel in Taipei - We enjoyed our stay and appreciated the generosity of hotel management. This is now our new favorite hotel in Taipei! We booked 2 rooms using a combination of AMEX FHR and IHG points. The AMEX bookings received $150 in spa credit and breakfast. We were super surprised when we learned that even our bookings in points receive free breakfast AND complementary mini bar! WOW, that’s beyond generous! Regent is a very energetic and lively hotel, with lots of foreign tourists coming and going constantly. The front desk is super busy but the staff worked hard to manage the traffic, so the wait was never too bad even during peak hours. Breakfast is super busy too, but we always got seated quickly. To summarize: -Hotel is located in a very busy and walkable area, with tons of restaurants nearby. -Breakfast is of good quality and a large spread of both Asian and Western options. -Even though the hotel is very busy, Regent has a large number of hard working employees and there’s never much of a wait for anything, i.e. there’s always someone holding the door, hailing a taxi, helping you with luggages, there are so many elevators we never had to wait more than a few seconds for elevators, etc. -The spa is pricy but amazing. The AMEX FHR $150 spa credit almost pays for 1 hour of massage (the certificate is good for $4,500 NT and 1 hour of massage is $4,800 NT). You get an extremely large room all to yourself, and you can enjoy an amazing steam shower both before and after the massage. -The hotel sauna, which is complementary to all hotel guests, is supposed to be one of the highlights. It offers 3 dipping pools and 3 wet/dry sauna rooms. I didn’t have a chance to try unfortunately, but my friend did and she loved it! -The hotel restaurants have good reputations and we wanted to try a few, but they were booked solid during our stay. We will try to book our spa/restaurant reservation ahead of our arrival next time we’re in town. -Other reviews wrote about the hard mattresses. Well, Asians prefer firm mattresses, and since Regent receives mostly Asian tourists, I can understand their mattress of choice. They are harder than what I have at home but still very comfortable and we slept like babies. -It is true the rooms are showing their age and not as “pretty” as, say, Mandarin Oriental. But the rooms are clean, spacious, and well kept. A little tip for housekeeping goes a long way-they will bring you all the water and fruits you can possibly want. In short, Regent is an excellent choice if you like to experience all the energy, including all the hustle and bustle that is Taipei. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to return.

Vivian from the Tai Pan Lounge kindly and carefully explained each sightseeing spot to us in great detail. Whenever we returned to the lounge, she thoughtfully asked how our visits had been and whether we had enjoyed the places she recommended. Her genuine care and attention made our stay even more special. She also prepared a birthday cake for us, which I was able to present to my mother. My mother was absolutely delighted with the cake, and it became a very memorable moment for our family. When we were leaving, Vivian kindly came to say goodbye and wished us a wonderful rest of our journey. Having such a warm and thoughtful staff member in the Tai Pan Lounge made our stay incredibly comfortable and memorable. I am truly grateful to her. When he noticed that I seemed to be struggling a little with the spiciness of the food, he attentively checked on me and made sure I was comfortable. Upon check in, I immediately noticed blood stain on a towel and nasty mold all around the sink area. Is this a 5 star hotel? You be the judge. There was no real service recovery when I raised the issue, aside from an empty apology. The housekeeper had this blank look on her face when I showed her like it’s supposed to be normal. I’ve never seen this level of carelessness in room quality before at any hotel I’ve stayed at. That’s all I gotta say. Consumers can vote with their wallet

I was initially a bit skeptical since it is an older hotel, but I had a really wonderful stay and would not hesitate to stay here again. Some thoughts: - The health club! Our flight arrived very early, and our room wasn’t ready yet. The reception suggested that we use the health club to freshen up, and it was a delightful surprise. It was the nicest health club arrangement I’ve ever seen: three different whirlpools (one hot, one cool, one ice cold) and three saunas (one steam, one cold—which I’ve never seen before, and one dry sauna)! After a long t flight from the US it was a much appreciated space to rest and recalibrate. - The breakfast was incredible. The food was incredibly high quality, and there are so many different options. I will say that there seems to be little change in breakfast between the dates, so if you stay here for a more than 4-5 days it might get repetitive. But since the breakfast has so many choices, you could just space out and try different stations each day. - As a Diamond Elite IHG member, we were upgraded to a larger room. The room was very spacious. It was on the older side, but we didn’t find this to be an issue. The shower pressure was excellent. The bed was noticeably firm, but honestly we had really great sleep on it. This is not a negative at all, but just to know. The hotel does get quite busy; we saw a lot of tour buses, and breakfast can get quite hectic. But the service seemed very streamlined and smooth.

I booked through Amex FHR and was upgraded to a spacious suite with a nice view. Breakfast was the highlight of my stay - amazing variety and quality. The $150 FHR benefit can unfortunately be used only towards spa charges - and the spa was fully booked during my stay, so it’s gone to waste. This is my main gripe as other FHR properties in Taipei allow using the Amex credit towards any charges, incl. dining

The desk chair was ergonomic but I wish the power sockets were not recessed - it made using an international power adapter impossible. Wifi speeds were good for streaming. Shower pressure was good. Room service food was delicious as was the buffet breakfast served in an airy dining room. The well equipped gym had a smith machine and dumbbells going up to 25kg. Pity it closes at 1030pm. Wished it was 24 hours. Small touches such as coiling up USB power cables by housekeeping showed attention to detail.

- geo3 (8/5): Beautiful hotel, somewhat inconvenient location - I stayed here twice, at the beginning and end of a Taiwan tour. It's a beautiful hotel. The rooms are large and comfortable, with lots of storage, and comfortable seating areas. Their workdesk area was also large. The rooms have spacious bathrooms with both baths and large walk-in showers. If you come by taxi, you will be dropped off at the front entrance, but if you walk (as I did), it may be confusing to find the reception desk, which is actually on the 2nd floor, on the west end of the hotel, not at street level. Reception was good, but quite slow. I think the front desk is understaffed; the staff were very efficient, and friendly, but they seemed a bit overwhelmed by the number of people checking in. The first time I checked in, I had to wait 40 minutes before being given my room key. The breakfast is certainly a highlight, as the buffet provides anything that anyone could possibly want, and all the food was delicious. It is served in a very large room, and it will be busy! But there are enough staff that there was rarely a lineup. I can't comment on price, as it was included in the tour price; it's probably expensive, though. Another highlight is the concierge desk. The person I talked to went out of her way to find a store which sold a replacement power cord for my laptop (a rather obscure make, so she had to do quite a bit of research and phoning to find the store). She then gave detailed directions to the store. They had some excellent musicians playing in the lounge area in the evenings - an unexpected bonus. One bonus for the location is the beautiful parks immediately to the southeast of the hotel (Linsen Park and Kangle Park). There is also quite a bit of shopping within one or two blocks of the hotels. On the other hand, this hotel is not particularly convenient for public transit; the nearest subway station is about 500 m or four blocks away, although bus stops are closer. It also is not particularly convenient if you are arriving the train from the airport. Would I stay here again? Perhaps, as the hotel is beautiful, but proximity to a subway station might be more important on the next stay in Taipei.

- aribS7510HQ (6/5): Luxury for Some - I stayed at the Regent with my family this week. The property is beautiful. No doubt. And the staff is courteous and very polite. The hotel however has defined its five star experience according to some very rigid and outdated mode that gives little consideration to what a guest might need or want. Case in point, having stayed in four other luxury properties in taiwan and china this trip, every single one had a coffee machine in the room. Not only did the Regent not offer this, there is not a single option in the entire hotel to buy a single coffee in the morning. When i enquired at the desk I was told I had to pay for the buffet or I could walk across the street to 7-11! Is that five star? As a family, we booked two rooms, hoping to get a connecting room, something we received without issue at every other hotel this trip. At the Regent however, this was not possible. Why? Not because it wasn’t available. It was just too complex for the front desk to figure out how to change our rooms from the exact ones assigned, which were 7 floors apart, and could not even be adjusted without further manager approval. I eventually gave up and took the 7 floor separation. After check out I realized that i forgot my passport in the room and ran back into the hotel lobby, very clearly in a panic. Not only did every lobby staff fail to make eye contact, when i did engage someone to ask for help he told me to go wait in the long line at the front desk. When i refused, a manager came to speak with me and sent me to the room to meet an employee who would let me in. I then waited outside my room for ten minutes and eventually had to flag down an employee who happened to be walking the hall to help me. Again they couldnt empower themselves to open the door but used their radio to send someone to the room then proceeded to walk away. I waited another couple minutes for help. Lastly, the beds are just really hard. I dont know why they need to be like this but again im sure this is managements idea of luxury and has no consideration of what a guest might actually want, even when there are so many reviews here making the same complaint. Overall this really is a beautiful hotel with a nice staff and good food. But the service is not five star and ruins the experience. This hotel needs to learn that luxury is achieved by giving every guest the best personal experience. The staff must be trained to put the guest above rigid rules and be empowered to solve problems so the can create that experience in the moment. Hope they can do this. It’s a fantastic property.

- Exploration588016 (10/5): Another Wonderful Stay at Regent Taipei with an Unforgettable Lounge Experience - This was our second stay at Regent Taipei in just a few months, and it was another fantastic experience from start to finish. This time we stayed in a corner room on a very high floor, which was exceptionally spacious and had an incredible 180-degree city view thanks to the L-shaped floor-to-ceiling windows. The Taipei skyline, including a distant view of Taipei 101, was simply breathtaking and really enhanced the feeling of luxury in the room. The room felt fresh and newly renovated, with a modern, upscale atmosphere that matched the hotel’s five-star status. Apart from a small flaw in the ceiling behind the curtain rail where the paintwork could have been done more carefully, everything else was in excellent condition and very comfortable. Despite that minor detail, the space, layout, and overall feel of the room made it one of the most memorable city hotel rooms we’ve stayed in. A real highlight of this stay was finally getting to enjoy the Taipan Lounge, which had just reopened after renovation. The design, ambience, and views from the lounge were outstanding, and we loved how relaxing yet refined the space felt throughout the day. We had breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails there, and each session felt special. It can get quite busy during breakfast and cocktail hours, so it is worth going a bit earlier to secure a good table. The food and drinks in the Taipan Lounge were excellent, with a good spread and a nice selection of alcoholic options like red and white wine, sparkling wine, beer, and signature cocktails in the cocktail session. What impressed us most, however, was the service. In particular, Ms. Lily Lin, the Assistant Chief Butler of Taipan, went above and beyond to take care of us, and her warm hospitality played a big part in making this trip so memorable. As Platinum members, we felt truly well looked after by Lily, her team, and all the concierge staff. Overall, we enjoyed this one-night stay to the fullest and are already looking forward to our next visit. Regent Taipei continues to deliver a genuine sense of luxury combined with heartfelt service, and this stay has only strengthened our desire to return soon.

It is not in other countries, USA, Europe etc. the wine was so little, I did not order any additional glass. Smallest size standard is 6 ounces. The steak was partially cooked, one side was raw inside. I did not send it back, as more than half that I ate was cooked correctly. The French onion soup was horrible. Served in a coffee cup. I'll never go back there for dinner. Stay away go someplace else.

Impressive bustling lobby with luxury brand storefronts (LV and Chanel) Check in done in the room and polite, as expected in all taiwanese 5 star establishments. A big pity no upgrade despite my Ambassador status. Room ok but expectedly oldish. No toothbrush and toothpaste so bring your own Gym is very old, medium sized and closes early at 1030pm Wrote a seperate review for the breakfast restaurant Azie. And the hotel has 10 other restaurants on its premises and the galleria Hotel has its own shopping galleria and it’s very wow with Hermes, Brunello , Loro piana just to name the top few Location very good in Zhongshan district. Lots of shops, cafes, restaurants. Also Eslite bookstore and Shinkong mitsokushi department store

The location is also excellent, with the mall below and a short walk from Zhongshan, where there's the MRT and is full of small shops and excellent food. We did not try any restaurants there, but it looked to be very popular amongst everyone, with excellent music entertainment. The check in staff were very helpful, and the staff who opened doors, pointed out the step in the lobby, and attended the elevators were so kind, polite, and made the experience feel elite. We booked a spa appointment on the top floor, and were VERY impressed by the facilities and services. Elevators were super fast and made traveling easy. I wish there was an electronic key instead of a physical one, so my partner and I could split up a bit easier when exploring the neighborhood. Additionally, I wish the list of spa services was available on the Hotel information channel, but we just went upstairs to look at the list and to book.

- Bell (6/5): - 地點及老客戶心情 整體品質下滑 1.改木櫃，手刮到，跟check out櫃台反應，僅說會注意，一點關心之意也沒有 2.,再三強調希望房內清潔乾淨，入住還給10分鐘再次確認，結果入住浴缸旁，明顯蓮蓬頭水管拖的浴缸都是髒水，手指垢即可下來，然不成要我替各位打掃 3.浴缸右邊沒把手，對于起浴缸多次差點滑倒 4.浴室排水設施欠佳，同等星的飯店，排水是流暢及靜悄悄的，高級飯店竟同等1星飯店，排水阻塞、排水導致洗澡間排水異聲超大 5.去了三溫暖，只能說真的蠻髒 6.去了游泳池反應浴室沒沐浴乳，等老半天，我們乾脆只好拿房間沐浴乳上去洗澡，只在乎現場泳池安危，服務0分 7.餐廳更是大打折扣 A.麵包少2/3 B.連簡單荷包蛋建議不要疊起來，拿起還容易破，廚師只管煎，盤前工具骯髒到不行 C.培根區域廚師,以我標準明天不用來上班了，態度極差，餐點沒了，還要同事催，要做不做，做出薯餅及培根，我10歲女兒都做比他好 D.餐內管理一團亂，地上一堆食物及掉下筷子，明顯找了一堆印度人，欠缺管理，地上有失5星飯店之風 E.拼命問要咖啡及茶，多次多組客戶都說不要了，還執意倒，到底在忙什麼 住宿2晚破萬服務，諷刺晶華菁華一書，越來越倒退，還case 分享，好好改善比較實際

- Tommyyam (2/5): As a Diamond elite Royal Ambassador Inner Circle member, very upset and disappointed on the Regent Taipei and IHG group - I am a IHG Diamond Elite Royal Ambassador Inner Circle member. When I booked the Regent Taipei on the IHG official website, it said enjoy your lounge , I didn’t looked into details and Diamond member can always go to the lounge . But when I check in on September 15 , they told me I can’t go to the lounge because they need lounge pass ( which you need to look into details at the IHG website ) the front desk said they didn’t join the Royal ambassador program. Ok , it’s my overlook the details. But very disappointing. The next thing my wife notice is the smell inside the hotel once we were inside the hotel . It smell like insecticide, in the lobby , corridors and even inside the room . I try to ignore it , but when I half awake in the morning, the smell inside the room just kick into my nose. I told myself I need to change hotel . So I went down to the lobby at 7am , ask the front desk if I can check out today and charge only one night room fee , she said yes . I told the front desk it was the smell inside the whole hotel that I can’t stand and she knows the smell is strange too . So I went up to my room , search for another hotel ( which I booked Double Tree by Hilton only 5 minutes walk and I am also a diamond member) I wake up my wife and check out at 11am . When I checked out , no front desk people at the Diamond member counter , or IHG member counter , that’s not the way as a IHG hotel should do. I was totally disappointed and upset about The Regent Taipei , to all Diamond member at the IHG group , you really need to look into details even the hotel at the website said : Enjoy your lounge . The most disappointing about the hotel and the IHG group is they didn’t give me a chance to write the review. My booking is for 4 nights and I only stay one night and cancel the other 3 nights . They know I was upset and will write a bad review about my stay . Normally the hotel will sent me an email asking about the experience of my stay and ask to write a review. But after 6 days , I didn’t receive any email . So disappointed on the Regent Taipei and the IGG group , I want to write a review on IHG website and no area for me to write a review. As a Diamond Elite Royal Ambassador inner circle member, I lost my faith and trust to the IHG group . Will try not to book any hotel on IHG and of course never go back to regent Taipei .
- Guide28130570608 (10/5): Its a good hotel in Taipei - I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The hotel location made it easy for me to get around. The check in was very smooth a Japanese girl helped me (sorry I forgot the name), and everything went quickly and nicely. The buffet restaurant was also great, with lots of different food choices that I really liked and also thanks to Kris for helping me with photos and for the warm farewell at check-out
- Ai (8/5): - Hotel is a bit old but pretty well maintained. Also within walking walking distance to many restaurants and stores. But staff could be better trained, e.g. Many of the staff don’t speak Chinese (National language in Taiwan) and hotel also won’t give us IHG points because we booked the room through EXPEDIA.
- ag00 (2/5): Terrible service - We arrived at 4:45 am today. The reception said they have no rooms and cannot give us a room till 1pm. We offered to pay and they offered a room for $554 for the night! The excuse they are giving is they don’t have guests checkout till 11 and they need time to clean the room. I have seen at least 30 people checkout. We are IHG platinum elite members and this treatment is awful, no concept of hospitality. Definitely first and last time staying here. It’s 7:15am and we are still waiting with no update on when we can expect a room after flying on a 14 hour flight.
