Guest Reviews
- HENRY (8/5): Pleasant - The hotel was nice but my room was little cold but overall I enjoyed myself I used the fridge and the microwave in my room and it worked good
- henry (6/5): okay - I had no cold water in the bathtub and my fridge was not cold only the freezer I went to the front desk and told them about it and they did send a person to my room and fixed it
- Alexis (2/5): - I want a refund
- henry (8/5): comfortable - The date is wrong I stayed here on Saturday and left Sunday and it was nice my room was comfortable I had a Microwave, a Fridge and a Desk, there was a swimming pool right next to me but no water it was fun
- Verified traveler (10/5): - overall experience was nice in terms of stay, transportation & amenities
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I think of the Travel Inn as a budget hotel. Not fancy but totally fine. The staff is very friendly and attentive to details. The fact that there is a garage on site is a huge plus as well. Recommended.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Convenient location to west side attractions and Time Square. Great price off season.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We have stayed here for years and have always been satisfied with our stay. This time how we the bathroom was not terribly clean and that was super disappointing. We didn't say anything to the front desk because we were already running late for a show. We will return and hopefully the cleaning will be up to par.
- merih (6/5): - There is no individual remote for A/C and remote control of tv was working in 1ft distance. Even though we were happy cause of location/price rate.
- Lamont (8/5): - Dated but clean at a great price and none of the bullsh*t resort fees 👌
- Dan (8/5): - Great value, service and location
- Veronica (8/5): Good if you are going as a tourist - We need it a place to sleep and this hotel did the job. I like that is in Manhattan although there is no subway station near by (you have to walk 10-15 min to the closest one) but it work perfect. Doesn’t have a place to eat but there is option near the hotel. Good service and clean, is updated but it did the job
- Steve (8/5): - Basic hotel. 2nd time staying here. Hotel is clean (most important to me). On the maintenance side, furniture is worn, shower door handle loose, etc. Minor details. I would stay again. Can't beat the price to be close to Times Square. Again, hotel is clean and in a great location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I liked how clean the room was as well as how friendly the staff was.
- Susan (10/5): Repeat Customer - Always pleased with the Travel Inn Hotel, The location on 42nd and 10th Is great for getting in and out of the city quickly. Inexpensive parking is available at the hotel which is very important to us. Able to leave car and walk or take a taxi. Have been coming for a number of years.
- Icecream (8/5): - They are starting to update which is needed. Location is great. Walk to Time Square. Self parking and the don’t rush you out.
- Phil (8/5): - I liked the parking onsite and everything was clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): good stay ! - It's very convenience place and easy to get to Time Square. The room is pretty clean.
- Rachel (8/5): Best Value in Manhattan - This is the second time we've stayed at the Travel Inn...the first time was location and price, this time, location, price, and knowing the great value and "amenities" we'd get for that price brought us back. You'd be hard pressed to find another place in Manhattan where you can park onsite (for a ridiculously low fee per night!!!) and be able to access your vehicle as needed. The Travel Inn is within walking distance of all the major tourist attractions; we traipsed our family all the way up to the Plaza (went through Times Square), back to the hotel, up to Rockefeller Center, down to the Empire State Building, and off to Grand Central Station for doughnuts the next morning. No problems. The neighborhood is safe, convenient, and great for families. The room itself was quite spacious and comfortable, though we did have a random back door that accessed a service hall. It ended up being quiet and a non issue. The in-room refrigerator was an added bonus. Though certainly not "high end" you simply cannot find a better value for your money!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Room was so hot and the front desk told us to open the window and it was so loud outside and we cannot sleep
- Ordis (10/5): - Very good place and nice location staff was really helpful
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This was the least expensive hotel at this time of year in nyc
- Ricardo (2/5): Outdated room bad mattress room. - The keys never works. The room was very hot. The bed size Full and old. At least for the price I paid we would have a queen mattress. We have to open the window that face the hall to have a comfortable temperature.
- Takira (10/5): - Always love staying here!!!
- Clayton (8/5): - No complaints, staff was friendly, room was basic but very clean. Good location for us and liked that they had parking on-site. Had fridge and microwave and met our needs for our stay. Nothing fancy but was great price.
- Jennifer (10/5): Comfortable and clean - Service was extremely nice and perfect. Hotel room was clean and larger than most hotels we have stay. Excellent place
- Verified traveler (4/5): - There was no air conditioner and our room was 89 degrees.
- Joe (2/5): Not happy at all I would LOVE TO GET MY MONEY BAC - Last night my door was open at the hotel
- Marc (8/5): You wont be sorry - The room was great, the staff was very accommodating and though they do not have a breakfast included in the price you can get a great breakfast next door at the deli. Great Location
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Convenient location to Javits Center. Clean and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I like that they have a garage to park your car but the building is pretty old so rooms smell
- Simon (8/5): - Room was good, hotel great location, bed was VERay uncomfortable. Pretty sure was broken.
- martin (10/5): - Always great!
- Michael (10/5): - Great price for the location. The cafe food next door was really tasty.
- Fayth (8/5): Travel Inn-Pleasant Stay at an Affordable Price - Had a very nice experience at the Travel Inn. The check in was easy and they allowed us to check into our room early. The room was spacious with lots of storage. The 3rd floor street facing room was a bit noisy. Large screen tv, microwave, and mini fridge were a great addition. The next door deli provided affordable breakfast. Close to the Javits Center and Theater District. The Travel Inn provided a comfortable stay at an affordable price. It was a much better experience than the trendy hotel across the street that charges a $40 resort fee (can't figure out what extras they provide) for a small room with no storage and strange glass enclosed bathroom. Offered early entrance to room for $30! The old fashioned Travel Inn gives you a warm welcome and free amenities plus an outdoor pool. Will definitely stay there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff was friendly and accommodating. The convenience of the cafe and loved the on site parking. The location was just a short walk to Times Square and the subway. Highly recommend. Will stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The entire place was clean. Staff was courteous. Our room faced the busy street, so there was some noise. But it's a big city and expected. Not a big deal.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Conveniently located
Clean, average size rooms
Did not care for nighttime noise
Staff at front desk could be friendlier
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hotel location was walking distance to times square and main metro/subway. For convenience I'd recommend using shared airport shuttle to the hotel especially if you have large luggage. NYPD strategic response is nearby the hotel so there were many NYPD vehicles parked. 7eleven and diner are just less than 5 mins walk too.
We booked the standard double room with 2 double beds. The room is comfortable for 2 people but would be a tight fit for 4 people. Room is dated but is clean; bed is comfy and heater works well although can be a bit noisy with the heater fan on. We just switch the heater fan off before going to bed since the room would be warm enough by then.
The room fridge was big enough for our grocery and the microwave works well for hot drinks and simple meals. Only drinking glasses were provided so we recycled starbucks paper cups to make hot drinks with the microwave. No kettles or coffee maker in the room.
Wifi is provided for a fee of USD6/day. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful with recommendations for places to eat. They also helped us arrange for airport shuttle pick-up at the hotel for USD44/pax. Since our flight was at night, we utilize the complimentary luggage storage to allow for last minute sight seeing before going back to the hotel to collect our luggage and wait for the shuttle.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great that it was walking distance to Times Square and the theater district. Unfortunately, street noise (people yelling, cars honking, police sirens) were very disruptive until late into the night. A good place to stay if you have hearing loss.
- Guillermo (8/5): NY - All good but I did not like the fact of no respect for the privacy sign and entering the room to change furniture...
- Xan (10/5): - Good place to stay. Close to local transportation. Clean and friendly.
- gema (2/5): - I didn’t like how when I first arrived they didn’t have the double bed I initially requested, they needed up giving me a rollover bed at no charge but it was really uncomfortable. Also to my arrival the gentleman who helped us out at the front desk was short and rude. The area the hotel was located was ideal but not for the prize I paid.
- K.P.Gamble (8/5): - Great price for the location and proximity to Times Square and its activities.
- Srs (6/5): - It was very basic ! No amenities at all ! WiFi not included in the massive fare the charge per night! And the curtains wouldn’t close and had a lot of light pollution.
If you want a place just to sleep and shower next to Times Square, this is for you. Expect nothing else.
- Elaine (6/5): Just OK for 1 night - Overall stay was okay to good. We decided to stay here because of parking and convenience to Time Square. The hotel property, lobby, elevator and hallways were clean, inviting, and smelled good. The room was okay. We went in October and because of the cooler weather, the hotel had already turned off its A/C. We were on the 6th floor and the room was stifling hot. They did provide us with 2 fans, one did not work, but couldn't keep the curtains open for the window because there was a light shining into the room. The cable TV did not work and hotel personnel could not get it to work either. The caulk in the shower had mold and mildew stains. We did speak to management about this upon checkout. They were very accommodating and they did compensate us the parking charge.
- Leslie (6/5): No coffee or Wifi - The hotel and room were clean and comfortable. However, you had to pay for Wifi and you also had to pay to use the 2 computers in the lobby. These are basic free services in almost every hotel. Also - even the cheapest hotels and motels all have a small coffee maker in the room. This hotel did not. This, along with free Wifi, are basic amenities in even the least expensive hotels these days - and this was not an inexpensive.hotel. Not even coffee in the lobby! Having to get dressed and go out looking for coffee in the morning is not what you want to do when on vacation!
- DMDP (8/5): - Clean, updated hotel! The staff was friendly and helpful. The Travel Inn is about a mile from Penn Station and a half mile to the Javit Center. The room was not cramped as many NYC hotels are. We had 2 double beds with room for a cot ($15). There is a diner Next Door (Broadway Row) for breakfast and lunch. My only complaint was $6.00 for very slow internet access.
- Traveler (8/5): - Nice hotel with good location and parking on site. Room was clean, contained microwave and refrigirator, but no coffee maker. There is outdoor pool, but we did not use it due to the weather condition. Would consider this hotel in future.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location—okay if you’re not fussy. - We’ve stayed here twice in the past. First time, mainly because parking was (as in “used to be”) free. Now it’s $20/night, which is still a deal. We also like that it’s a short drive from the Lincoln Tunnel—no fighting city traffic. We also love the location—a short walk to the subway and a longer but pleasant walk to Times Square or the theatre district. The downside: the property is in desperate need of an update. Also, although there’s a fridge and microwave in the room, there isn’t a coffeemaker. I had to go down to the adjacent coffee shop daily for my morning cup. The room we had for our recent stay was small, with a bathroom sink with no counter, aka no space for toiletries. If you’re not fussy about the details, this hotel is fine. I think we’ll choose a slightly nicer place (plenty to choose from in the same vicinity) for our next stay.
- Takira (10/5): The big apple - Wonderful place in the heart of the city!! Will be booking again!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location and the price and the atmosphere are very good if I have to go New York again I will boik at it again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean and spacious room. Attractions can be reached by walking. Bus stop close to property.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Mouse crap everywhere. When brought up to clerk did not phase them
- Antonella (10/5): Will come back - The room was besutigul and clean and we got a beautiful view from our window!! The pool is great and the location of the hotel is amazing !! Will come back
- Georgette (10/5): Good - Pretty comfortable.
- robert (10/5): Excellent value - Great budget hotel with on site parking. Rooms recently updated and very comfortable . Stayed here dozens of times and will be returning. Great location
- Takira (10/5): - Had a lovely stay here!! Definitely will be staying here again when i come back to visit!!!! Great location right in the heart of everything!! Just loved everything about it!!!
- peter (8/5): - My stay was business related. The Inn was efficient, clean, ample parking on site and accommodating. My booking was six months prior. I tried to reserve a room Sat thru Tuesday but Saturday was not available. That was disappointing but the outdoor pool was refreshing after a long standing day.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Pool was important in the heat, also staff didn't bother you, ice machine , but rooms need a kettle , decent fridge and microwave and updated decir
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The house keeping staff were very professional and front desk was extremely helpful giving directions to get around town by subway, etc. I loved that there was a breakfast/lunch restaurant attached to the hotel. The food and staff there was excellent!! All around great experience! It was my 2nd time staying there and would definitely stay again. Only 5 minute walk to time square and 15 minute walk to Empire State Building.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Pool and parking a big plus .location convenient, very helpful staff
- Verified traveler (8/5): - no complaints I enjoyed my stayand plan to visit agaimn
- John (4/5): - I liked the location of the property, it was close enough to Times Square and the 42nd st Train station (about 10 minute walk). I didn't like that when I woke up in the morning I saw a bed bug crawling up one of the lamps! I was able to catch the thing, yes it was indeed a bed bug! The place looks presentable, but if you look closer though you will definitely see a lot of things are a bit outdated and needs renovation. Service was mostly ok, with the exception of one front desk guy that seemingly didn't want to be bothered with anything. I have to say though that this was the lowest priced hotel I could find during the peak June travel season that met my criteria (being presentable, near Times Square, and not having horrendous reviews).
- Lisa (8/5): Cheap adequate hotel in amazing location - The hotel is basic, good a/c and comfortable beds. But what it lacks in bling it makes up for in a great location! Walking distance to Times Square, the Highline, great restaurants, Ground Zero. So cheap adequate hotel in the area to be!
- Laurel (8/5): - The staff was very helpful and kind. The pool paint is chipping on the bottom of the pool and needs to be redone.
- SarahB (8/5): - Pros:
-We arrived an hour before check-in time and were greeted by pleasant staff who allowed us to check-in early.
-Good location on 42nd street. Walking distance from Grand Central, many theaters, Times Square, etc.
-THE POOL is the main reason we chose this hotel over others that were a little more modern. We made good use of it during our short trip so the kids could have some downtime in between sightseeing during a hot July week.
-The little bagel place next to the hotel has quick, cheap food.
CONS:
-wifi only worked in the lobby.
-bed was rock hard.
-rooms are a bit dated.
Overall this was a good hotel which I would recommend as long as you're not expecting something too high end.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The lobby had a strong disinfectant smell. Thankfully the room didn’t. It was small but clean. The fan in the bathroom ran the entire time which was annoying. The WiFi was slow and had a small additional change. The pool was decent. Staff was nice. Only issue was the maid attempted to come in twice before we checked out. 5-7 min walk to time square but there was a bus stop right outside that was a few stops from Time Square. Reasonably priced parking on site ($30 a day)
- Verified traveler (8/5): - location was good, no breakfast included. also no complimentary shuttle to and from airport..
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good base and in excellent location to Time Square hotel clean but a little tired looking
- HUGO (10/5): Perfect Location - Awesome location.... hotel did it’s justice. I would highly recommend.
- Marybeth (8/5): Nice hotel for our NYC vacation - This is a nice hotel. We had a pleasant and efficient check in and check out. It was wonderful to have our car safely parked while we toured NYC. It was a bit of a walk to Times Square, but we didn't mind seeing the city that way. The room was quiet and the beds and pillows were comfortable. It was a small room, but we were only there to shower and sleep so we didn't mind the lack of space. The bathroom did need some upgrading and a vent for the shower. Also, no breakfast or even coffee or tea for the guests.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location - Enjoyed our stay at Travel Inn. Room was a good size, clean & comfortable. Great location, easy walk to Times Square and bus stops. Made use of supermarket nearby and deli cafe in lobby.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I don’t understand why they charged to my credit card an extra payment without my permission. When I did my checkout the receptionist told me I don’t have to pay anything. This is terrible!
- Felicia (10/5): Manhattan Family Vacation - The hotel is in a wonderful location. It is an older hotel typical for NY. Our room was immaculately cleaned everyday. Staff was wonderful! Parking is a huge plus. Room size is big for Manhattan. Safe location and convenient to Times Square and subway. Would definitely stay here again. I’ve paid a lot more in Manhattan for a lot less. Great hotel!!!
- Ana (6/5): - Great location ,closed to time square . Over all is good nothing fancy bulding needs improvement but for the price not bad at all..
- David M (8/5): Great location for Javits Center - Ideally located for business at Javits. Convenient to 42nd street activities. Some street noise, but all in all very good. Only two complaints - no free wifi. It's $5.95 a day if you want it. Also, no in room coffee. However, there is a refrigerator and microwave.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Travel Inn Hotel is located approx. 3 blocks from Times Square which is walkable. We enjoyed our stay at this property. The room was quite spacious compared to other properties we have stayed in previously. The room was comfortable, clean and surprisingly quiet. There is a café in the property where you can buy breakfast which was lovely and very reasonable. I would have no hesitation booking this hotel in the future. Thankyou
- Gary (8/5): - Should offer free wifi.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very easy to get to, just outside the Lincoln Tunnel. Parking at the hotel is a plus. We park the car then walk to Port Authority to go where we need to.
- GS-SanDiego (8/5): - Good location - walking distance to Time Square, Rockefeller Center and subways
- Arsalan Asif (10/5): Best affordable hotel in Times Square! - This hotel is within the Times Square area with a 8-10 min walk. The men at the front desk were more than helpful. They provided us with useful information and were genuinely kind and caring. The rooms were in great condition and very spacey. We will definitely be back!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The nice location of this hotel few steps from Time square to interpid museum to alot of things that you cant confused where to go, I liked the area. They have a special parking with fee of $20 a day. Tv was little bit difficult to use the remote control and the internet needs to improve the speed also. I liked it over all and give it 4 stars for the location and the parking.
- Verified traveler (10/5): My home away from home - I always stay here when in NYC.
- Susannah (8/5): Location - Really good location for walking to Times Square and theater row to see plays
- Verified traveler (8/5): Comfortable hotel-convenient location in NYC - The hotel is dated, but the rooms are larger than normal for NYC, clean, and comfortable. Parking right next door is a big plus, and the location is very convenient. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.
- Chenoa (10/5): will stay again - friendly staff. Rooms was big and clean. close to times square. will stay there again.
- Amalia Jaimes (10/5): Safe location - Very convenient area, across the NYPD, just a couple blocks from Time Square. Nearby Restaurants and CVS theaters, you name it!
- Xiomara (10/5): Great stay!! - Great service , good staff and very clean. Good experience and we had fun .
- Verified traveler (6/5): - In the days we were there, we were never able to connect to their WiFi
- richard (6/5): Not my worst hotel stay - Got to our room, no AC. About 85 in the room. The bathroom floor could have used a good sweeping.
The king bed was crisp and clean and very comfortable.
Zero WiFi as well.
Went to see a play, and when we got back they had put a fan in the room. Nice of them, but it was just blowing around 80+ degree heat. Slept only about an hour. Put a wet cloth around my neck and a wet towel on my torso.
Not my worst stay in a hotel in my life, but pretty close.
Will not return.
- Gemma Marie (8/5): none - n/a
- Cornelis (8/5): - Location for our purpose very convenient in midtown Manhattan
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent location. Parking was a plus in an indoor lot.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel wasn't fancy, but it was clean. It has an outdoor pool which opens at in May each year. WiFi is $6 per day. No kettle in the room, however, there is fridge, microwave, iron and ironing board.
It doesn't have a restaurant, but there is a Deli next door - serves really good breakfast.
The hotel is a few minutes from Times Square.
Price not bad for location. Would recommend.
- Stephen (8/5): Great Location 10 Minutes walk from Times Square - Great price ÂŁ170 per night which is cheap especially with a location 10 mins walk from Times Square.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Travel Inn was close to all amenities, close to the hub Times Square,
- Elaine (8/5): Good value for money - Great location, close to Times square and also beside the Port authority bus terminal. Currently they are renovating the rooms and modernising the hotel. A very reasonably priced deli right next door
- Steve (8/5): Fine 2-star hotel - Hotel is fine and clean just needs a bit of updating here and there. Heard it’s been bought out and will be torn down soon so I guess it doesn’t matter either way. But a fine hotel for anyone on a budget who doesn’t mind staying off the beaten path a bit.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved the location and the staff was awesome the cons were the ac wasnt turned on april 15th too early in the season and also the pool was closed but we had no choice this is our massachusetts spring break and it was oddly hot this year and they. Did bring us a fan to helpus cool down
