• before13 (6/5): Disappointed with Condition - The location is the best feature. Unfortunately, I have to agree with other commenters that the Hotel shows wear and is not worth the cost. We originally booked a 2 bedroom suite for two nights but due to the lack of hospitality and condition of the hotel we only stayed for one night.
• gweneth (2/5): - I had a confirmed reservation booked on expedia. I was never informed of the hotel's temporary closure. I had to scramble at the last minute to find alternate lodging. I'm very disappointed in the lack of communication. This could have been incredibly awful had I not had access to the internet and was able to find another hotel option. I tried to leave this feedback on expedia too - their website does not provide an email address. Not cool.
• CheshireDancingqueen (8/5): Cracking stay at The Clarence - This is our third stay in recent years at this stylish hotel. We were warmly welcomed on reception and indeed all the staff we interacted with were charming. We were upgraded to a suite, a fabulous corner room with amazing views of the city and Wicklow mountains. With doors opening onto a huge decking area with a table to seat 6, this really was a special room. The bed was enormous, a comfy seating area. The bathroom is very dated with a chipped bath and the dreaded shower curtain, functional however not what you would expect of a suite. The Curious Mister bar is a lovely place for a pre or post dinner tipple or indeed at any time. The foyer bar is fabulous too, a large space perfect for a coffee or a cocktail. We had an issue twice with our mini bar not being refilled. The dated bathroom and lack of mini bar refill is the reason we have knocked a star off. Fully appreciate that we were upgraded and for that we are grateful. We enjoyed our stay.

• Stuart (8/5): - Situated overlooking the river Liffey, close to Temple Bar but not affected by noise. Easy walk to Dublin Castle, O’Connell street, Temple Bar. There is a bar in the hotel but we didn’t use it. Staff were always on reception, checked on an hour early. Room was clean and well equipped. The bed was super king medium firm and comfy. The shower in the bathroom was powerful and easily adjustable temperature

• Philip (9/5): Where the Action Is in Dublin - The hotel is cozy and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The bar and restaurant are excellent. The area is full of life and excitement if you don't mind late night noise. The location is good if you want to be in the heart of Temple Bar, but it is very loud well into the early morning. Also, room was a bit small for a deluxe.
• Darren (3/5): Very disappointing - Location Hotel is in need of some TLC. Rooms do not appear to have been updated in years.. reported TVs in both rooms did not work- very old. Given a business card and told to contact manager. Later in evening significant leak coming through light in bathroom from room above. Shorted lights. Family did not feel safe in room so ended up crashing all in one room. Hotel provided a camp bed as hotel full. No offer of any compensation next morning. Rumour is hotel closing down for major renovation soon.
• dazzer008 (2/5): Terrible experience! - Terrible experience. Hotel is in need in some TLC. Clearly no investment in years. Neither of the TVs in the 2 rooms worked and when reported we were presented with a business card and told to contact the front office manager as that was the protocol they had been told. If that was not bad enough , leak started in bathroom with water gushing out of light fitting . Fused light. Contacted reception who came to take a look but it is evident from staining on light it is a repeat issue. No other rooms to move to so sorry!!!!

• 992louiseh (10/5): Exceptional location, beds are 10/10! - A beautiful hotel in an exceptional location. The room was very fitted out. Incredibly comfortable bed and the service was impeccable. Didn’t stop for a drink in the bar but it is beautiful. The adjoining coffee shop has great coffee. It’s not a cheap hotel but it is worth the $ if you are looking for a great spot, a little bit of luxury and a comfy bed. No aircon though so might get a little hot in summer. The room came with a fan which we had to use in the middle of the night as it was a bit stuffy

Also, avoid Temple Bar, a neighborhood crowded with tourists. This hotel seems to be living off the fact that Bono once owned it. Rock and Roll it ain't.

We can in on the red eye and showed up at 1030 am very tired. We were hoping they would keep.our luggage until the 4:00 check-in. They gave us our key and let us check-in on the spot. We were able to get a well needed nap in before heading out. Very accommodating. I would recommend for sure.

• Fiona (9/5): Great weekend away. - Walking distance to all the places we wanted to visit - Trinity College, Dublin Castel, St Stephen's Green. Right on the edge of Temple Bar and we were not disturbed by any noise. Don't think housekeeping did a proper job of checking things before our arrival. Handheld shower missing on the bath which we only realised when we put the taps on!! Situation was resolved very quickly once we reported it. On the plus side, there were plenty of towels to mop up the water.

• Marcelphaarlem (9/5): spacious clean rooms with good temperature and sound isolating outside glass windows. - Friendly hotel large rooms upper floors quiet for the area the bath tub was rather old and invited to showering only. but with a curtain hanging loose , a curtain that was sucked in because of the powerful water / air draft was a little unpleasant. a small glass screen op top of the bath would be much better .. we solved it with two shoelaces between door and cabinet, keeping the curtain on tis place.

Had a health issue arise & they went above & beyond to help my husband & me. I’ve never experienced so much caring, concern, comforting, & help that they all provided. I will never be able to repay them & will never forget them & the care & kindness they provided to complete strangers. You have to stay here. They are all truly amazing! Beautiful hotel with a beautiful staff.

• Heather (10/5): - The Clarence was very charming, clean, had a very helpful staff, and was situated in a great location for touring much of Dublin's sights (and Temple Bar, of course!).
• JustinS377 (10/5): A fantastic slice of Irish history and crack - From arrival to our leaving this was a great experience, we had a hire car from the airport and the team sorted out for us to stop directly out front to unload our bags and complete the check in process. After that we went to the recommended parking place, which had a discount. Upon our return we had a couple of cocktails and chat with the staff then a well earned rest in our amazing room with a view over the river. The Clarence has a so much history and charm as well as an elevator. Sadly we only had a one night stay but the next day late check out offer and the fantastic breakfast in the steakhouse was an amazing start to the day. The staff all were very friendly and made our stay a great experience as well as a memorable start to our Ireland trip. We had originally booked for 2020 but the pandemic put a hold on that and the team at the Clarence kept our booking for us until we got there in 2024. We highly recommend the Clarence for its location, ambiance and set up as well as the fantastic hospitality of all staff. We had a Crack with you all🙏

• Natasha (8/5): - The property was absolutely lovely and was within walking distance of almost everything. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The only downside was the room was not soundproof as we could hear the parties going on late into the early morning, otherwise I would recommend to stay again.
• Rick (8/5): - Jose checked us in and gave us the rundown of Temple Bar with location and proximity to all of the local attractions. We were introduced to Ross, the bar manager, who was a wealth of info on Irish whiskeys and the local area. Our room was quite nice but backed onto the fans/ducting and an outdoor bar below so was noisy when the windows had to be open which was every time the shower was used. The front desk attendant the morning we checked out spent a great deal of time discussing Euro politics with others ahead of us while we WAITED pressed for time to get to the airport but I recommend staying here.

And the location is amazing in the center close to temple bar district but just one minute away so we escape the noise. And I loved the nice lobby and bar to have a last drink and relax before bed after being busy tourism all day. 😁 My room was just a bit small for the price but I guess it is Dublin everything is so expensive in this town. 😅

• debbiejG8175JF (10/5): The Clarence Hotel is a Must - As I sit here tonight, sipping on a Redbreast 12, I cannot say enough GREAT things about this incredible boutique hotel in the “big city”. From our initial check in, to checking out, it is in my top visits of any hotel ever!! The amazing manager, assistant (who personally carried our bags to our room) and amazing bartender, I would recommend The Clarence Hotel, hands down! From recommendation of where to eat, shop and sites we throughly enjoyed the entire stay! We were treated like royalty and so appreciated the hospitality!! Will return to The Clarence Hotel when back on Dublin! ❤️😉 The Church for lunch and Lemon Jelly for breakfast- highly recommend (thanks The Clarence for a memorable trip) 💋
• Muhammad (8/5): - Overall a good place, good people, and great location for tourists .. fan helped in absence of AC .. bed needs to be replaced because it was sagging in the middle and we both were sliding into each other. You expect a firm mattress at this price
• Laura (7/5): It was the only thing available. - It was better than nothing. It was comfortable and had a bathtub. I was canceled without notice from Private Room in Dublin on a Saturday night with a concert going on. Dublin was all booked, so I got an email saying I could stay in the Clarence. The price was obscene but it was that or staying on the street. The good thing was the location. Not worth the money.

• Cathryn (6/5): great location but hotel quite tired. - The location was fabulous. We were also given an upgrade to a room with a terrace. Unfortunately the terrace and outdoor furniture was covered in pigeon droppings so we were not able to use it. The bathroom was shabby and not very clean. We also had an incident where another person managed to be trapped on our terrace after going through a fire door and tried to get into our room at 130 am. It was pretty scary but no-one from the staff followed up with us the following day other than when we asked to tell us it was another guest.
• Annica (10/5): The Clarence - Dublin - The hotel is very nicely located in the Temple Bar area, given you access to great restaurants and bars, along with the Trinity College and museums. The check in was great and the girl at the desk was very helpful and took our luggage as our rooms were not ready. We finally got word that our rooms were ready and our luggage had already been taken up to our rooms. While the hotel is nice, our room was feeling a little tired. There was no air conditioning and while we used the fan provided, it only did so much. Our other family members had some issues with their room and was moved to a newly renovated suite on the lower levels so knowing that they seem to be working on adding new amenities such as AC, once done, it will be a lot better. The room otherwise was great - it has a fridge (which most hotels do not have we have discovered while touring Ireland) and a two chairs on a little balcony which we used every night. The bar area in the lobby was used and enjoyed as well. Overall, very happy about our stay and would stay again.

• Daragh (10/5): I rarely give 10/10 but this was a perfect stay - The reception staff were lovely, the perfect people to have on a front desk. Room was spotless and had everything needed. Location is wonderful. I will definitely be staying here again. Honestly, can’t think of anything.
