Miedo ir por la calle. La foto que venden en booking no refleja para nada la realidad. Al llegar el taxista nos advirtio de la inseguridad e igualmente la recepcion del hotel. Es mas, para entrar en el hotel necesitas llamar a un timbre. No esta adaptado para minusvalidos. Hay escaleras en todas partes. No volvería, por el entorno.

• M (5/5): - The room was clean and well decorated. The clerk was helpful and quick checking us in. The floor area near the bathroom was soft like it was rotten underneath. It made me nervous about mold and structure safety. The property was not close to the airport as indicated. It took a long taxi ride for 50 euro to get there. It took an hour by train to get back to the airport.

It was 5min walk from subway to get around and to all the tourists' areas, but the streets themselves were a little rough. Especially at night. There were quite a bit of transients and homeless. I'm a guy and felt comfortable enough to walk alone but for women and children I personally wouldn't recommend it to walk at night. Rooms and service were great enough to rate it 5 stars.

• Althea (8/5): - We stayed here overnight after our flight was cancelled. As many have said the area is sketchy, but no different than any other city area. The hotel itself was clean, the staff were super friendly and the attached restaurant was very convenient.

• rileyrebel (6/5): - I was booked into this hotel by a tour agency (and it's one of the reasons I'll never use that agency again). On the plus side, the rooms are clean, quiet, and of standard size and amenities for Europe (though its idiosyncratic bathrooms, devoid of shower curtains or partitions of any kind, guarantee that you'll get water everywhere). It offers a serviceable if unremarkable complimentary breakfast buffet. (They serve dinner; I didn't try it.) But the location? It's terrible. It's not simply that the hotel is located too far from tourist destinations to make walking practicable for anyone but the most seasoned athletes (particularly in an Athenian summer), but it's in a genuinely squalid neighborhood. Surrounding blocks are mostly vacant, dimly lit, and unserved by restaurants or even carry-out shops. But most damning? The city's methadone clinic is a block away. The homeless are stacked 20-30 deep at all hours on the sidewalks (usually lying across them), prostitution is commonplace, and discarded hypodermics are waiting to greet you all over the streets each morning. Unless you need to be in that part of town, this isn't the hotel for you.
• O1629FRmichellec (2/5): Families beware dangerous location, even in broad day light - Families stay away! Dangerous location with drug users smoking crack in day light. They were out of it and sprawled around the sidewalks, one was using the sidewalk as the bathroom. There are prostitutes on the street and one propositioned my husband in front of our nine-year-old. The people working at the hotel were lovely. The rooms were great. They were desperate to try to convince us that it was safe, but a police, Two cab drivers and a friend of mine from here said you cannot go outside in that area at night, it is dangerous. We thought best to keep ourselves safe and rebooked with NO refund. The hotel told us we would see the same issue everywhere, and we do not see that around our new hotel and we were out walking until 11 PM. It was worth it the money loss.
• Y938BElynneh (8/5): Nice, friendly hotel, close to the main attractions...... - The hotel is fantastic. Rooms are really beautifully designed and comfortable. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was due to it's unfortunate location, in an area of Athens which seems to be the favourite chilling out spot for drug addicts. As people have mentioned, they do not bother you..they sleep in a street just round the corner which you can easily avoid. We walked through that street by accident one night and we didn't feel threatened...just sad to see those poor souls.... There is a good police presence too. In fact, Athens is probably one of the safest cities I've ever visited. Never at any time did we feel unsafe. So remember....the fact that drug addicts have chosen to sleep in this area, is not the hotels fault and I would recommend this hotel to anyone who isn't fazed by the realities of modern city life. It's not Disneyland.. it's real life.... My city has drug addicts and I'm sure yours does too... Take that factor away and the hotel deserves 5 stars for it's brilliant proximity to all of the main tourist attractions, underground, restaurants etc It also deserves stars for friendliness, interior design, and comfort. The staff were so good at helping us arrange excursions and answer our questions.
• Norah (8/5): - This is a great place to stay, very clean, modern, staff are super awesome and friendly. Breakfast could be a bit better, but it's ok. The area is not super posh, kinda not clean, and homeless people at night BUT very safe to walk around, and easy access to the main touristic areas. There's a police station very close as well, and a bunch of hotels around as well, so no biggie If you are not that picky with that.

• Akta (2/5): - Disappointing Stay – Definitely Not a 4-Star Hotel I stayed at this hotel for four days during Easter and was very disappointed. Although advertised as a 4-star hotel, it hardly deserves 2 stars in my opinion. The location is one of the worst in Athens (Omonia area), a very deprived neighborhood with many drug users around. Walking past them with my family, I did not feel safe at all. The room was basic and lacked even simple amenities like a kettle or tea/coffee, which I would expect from a 4-star hotel. The shower area appeared to have had some maintenance work but was not properly cleaned, and the soap dispenser was empty. Breakfast was very average. In the name of orange juice, they served concentrated squash, which was very disappointing. The only positive aspect was the staff – they were very welcoming and helpful. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I will never book this hotel again.

• newbigirl (8/5): Lovely friendly Hotel - Stayed for 3 nights with my daughter in a prestige suite. Hotel Room was lovely, king sized bed, plenty of storage, tea and coffee and bottles of Esther in the fridge. Slippers, robes towels and eye masks in room. Shower gel soap and shampoo provided in bathroom along with a hairdryer which is the best I’ve used in a hotel room. There is a TV and safe as well. Also had a large wrap around balcony which would have been great had the weather been better. People on reception lovely, nothing too much trouble. They’d even warmed our room for our arrival. Small selection of souvenirs for sale at reasonable prices. Only negative was that there was some traffic noise, didn’t bother us but if you are a light sleeper you may need earplugs. Restaurant There is a restaurant which is open most of the day for snacks and main meals, room service is available. We had booked bed and breakfast, breakfast was varied breads and pastries, Greek yoghurt, cereals, cold meats, then mushrooms, eggs, bacon and pies on the hot plate. Unfortunately the hot food was cold. The hotel was not busy and it looked the food was just left until it was eaten or breakfast had finished. Such a shame as the scrambled eggs on the first day were so nice. On the last morning I asked if the fried eggs (no other option) were cold. They insisted they were fresh but no - they were cold. I’m guessing this won’t be an issue when it’s full. I’d suggest when it’s so quiet to make the hot food to order, as it really wasn’t a pleasant experience. Location As others have said the area is not the best. Having said that there are plenty of little supermarkets in the area and I walked everywhere. I felt safe and no-one bothered us at all. The Acropolis is half an hours walk away, and omonoia square where you can get the hop on hop off bus is 5-10 minutes walk. There are also restaurants and a larger supermarket here. Overall Wonderful hotel let down a bit by the food, but I’d recommend it and would stay again. Thank you !

• Traciann G (8/5): - It was good for our needs. We stayed five days and would stay here again. The staff was great. And the daily breakfast was wonderful. The area around the hotel is okay. It's a residential area with apartments and other hotels. There were a few unhoused people/ addicts, but they didn't bother us. We didn't feel unsafe. In fact, we walked to and from Syntagma Square, which is about a twenty min walk, at 3 am in the morning when we needed to catch the 24-hour bus to or from the airport. There are many restaurants, including a very nice bakery on the same street as the hotel and more in Omonoia Square which is about a 5 min walk.

• hello583 (8/5): Smart hotel, downtown Athens. - Lovely hotel, well equipped rooms, even if the standard room is a little small - especially the bathroom; the whole bathroom room gets wet! Aircon is off during the ‘winter’ month but that seems normal Athens. Staff were more than helpful and always welcoming. Area leaves a little to be desired and doesn’t feel safe, especially at night. (The hotel front doors are locked 24/7 or were during the stay). All in all great value for money, would stay again - not a great deal the hotel can do to Improve the area.

• 290arndtm (8/5): Very good for it's prize-range - For it's prize range this is a very good hotel. The service was excellent, the staff is very friendly and the cafe is very cozy. I would recommend this hotel for business travels and for seasoned streetvice and budget-conscious solo travellers, rather than families because of the neighbourhood, which is not the nicest area of central Athens. However, there is an excellent English-speaking theatre about a three minutes walk from the hotel called The Theatre of the NO offering music events, including jazz and opera and theatrical shows. I went to two of these during my stay and they were both wonderful, so I would recommend that other travellers check it out.
• irietraveling (8/5): Served our needs...Free daily breakfast, Nice staff & Clean Rooms - We stayed 5 days at Athens One Smart Hotel. It was good for our needs. I would stay here again. The staff was great especially Nikous. And the free daily breakfast was wonderful. Our room was clean and serviced daily. The area around the hotel is okay. It is a residential area with apartments, Airbnb's and other hotels. You may see a few unhoused people or drug addicts, but they don't bother you. I did not feel unsafe. In fact, we walked to and from Syntagma square (which is about 20 mins walk) at 3 am in the morning when we needed to catch the 24-hour bus to or from the airport. There are many restaurants on the same street as the hotel and more in Omonoia Square which is about a 5 mins walk including a nice bakery.
• M7291UMlucys (4/5): Lack of sleep and bad location - This hotel was basic but clean. The big problem for us was the noise! It advertised ‘sound proof rooms’ which is completely false as it sounded like we were on the street. It was cars and people yelling all throughout the night, this affected the holiday as we were sleep deprived. The location was not good either, during the day it was ok to walk in, but we got taxis back at night due to the drug users being right outside the hotel. The fact you have to ring a bell to get in to the hotel at any hour even during the day says it all. If it were in a different area and the noise wasn’t as bad it would be a different review, however these things are what come with the location even if they are out of the hotels control.
• Jose (10/5): Perfect - Everything perfect, the staff was really nice and helpful, everbody from reception at any time to the cleaning personell. We arrived too early and our room was ready. Clean lange suite, very comfortable. Walking distance to classic historical Athens, but also cool areas like Exarchia.

Would have been nice to have tea and coffee facilities. The TV in the small bedroom would not connect to Netflix but was not the be all and end all.
• karentN106BW (8/5): Good hotel in undesirable area. - A comfortable hotel. Good food. Lovely staff. If I hadn't read reviews about homeless people outside of the hotel openly drug taking, I would have been shocked but they do not approach you. We booked a family suite. It was very spacious. However despite photos showing tea and coffee making facilities AND them being listed, there were none. I expressed my disappointment and a kettle, mugs and tea/coffee bags were found. We were given milk at breakfast the next morning.
• Charliejess (8/5): A mixed bag but we’d stay again! - We stayed here for 4 days as a young same sex couple - I’ll start by saying there are loads of good things about this hotel! We had a prestige suite and it was lovely - clean, modern, the bathroom was a great size and the hot tub was clean and really nice to use. Plenty of towels, robes, toothbrushes, slippers and sleep masks all supplied as well as water in the fridge, and the air con is effective! We needed an iron and reception had it with us in less than 2 minutes; we kept it for our stay. Our only gripe room wise was that the advertised coffee machine was non existent and we had a kettle with one cup and some instant coffee (kettle still had water in from previous guests) - we just chalked this up to bad luck and got coffee at many of the great cafes locally instead. Staff were all friendly and welcoming, couldn’t do enough for us - this really made it feel like a nice place to stay. We didn’t have breakfast, choosing to eat locally instead, although it was included - so I can’t comment on that. So the hotel is great and we’d stay again. But. The reviews about the area are accurate; it’s ‘downtown’ Athens for sure and after one walk into the main area we decided quickly we would use taxis and uber. We’ve travelled a lot and didn’t feel unsafe as such - certainly not comparable to places like Las Vegas or Los Angeles - but there’s a huge homeless community in this area which has brought a lot of visible drug use, challenging behaviours, open sex work etc to the area. We saw all of this at all times of the day and in addition it means that the streets aren’t necessarily very clean. What I will say is that there’s a high police presence everywhere and you only have to walk 2 blocks up to be in a much better area. We did this a few times but got taxis back especially after dark. We had a tour guide one day who was very intent in telling us that we needed to use Uber for safety and we’d agree really - so budget for that and if you hail taxis then agree the price before you get in, we paid 8€ and 35€ for the same drive with 2 drivers, some of them set out to scam tourists! Overall the location is great through and easy for the metro/tour buses/monastiraki square etc and you can easily walk to the acropolis/museum if you wanted to. Omonia square is a couple of blocks away and we found great breakfast and coffee there. As I say, a mixed bag but the hotel itself is lovely and we’d absolutely stay again!

Close to all historical sites and lively restaurants and bars. Hotel was perfect. Clean modern room. The area was just a little sketch, but for the price and location it's perfect.
• Fearless53882833194 (8/5): Amazing hotel. - I cannot fault the hotel itself, all the staff were incredibly thoughtful and friendly which makes all the difference and the rooms were consistently clean and well maintained. Whilst Omonia itself is not the most glamorous part of Athens, there are plenty of hotels and tourists around this area; avoiding the small side streets and remaining on the big main roads meant we did not feel unsafe at any point. The orange juice served at breakfast is one of the best I have ever had!

The location was terrible. There were many homeless and drug activities just outside the door and all around. We did not feel safe walking in this neighborhood. We were grateful to only be staying for one night.

• crunchy_jax (8/5): Reasonably nice hotel, tiny sink - Nice hotel, not the nicest looking neighborhood, but close to touristy areas and attractions. We did walk to/from the hotel at night, and had no problems. Staff was very helpful and nice, especially Greg at the front desk. One complaint: the size of the sink is ridiculous - see photo. You CANNOT wash and rinse your face without splashing water everywhere.

The breakfast was awful, especially the scrambled eggs and the cooked food in general as it was always stone cold. The 'view' from the hotel room was an old dirty grey building. We had to keep the curtains closed so nobody could look in, the traffic around the hotel was so bad and noisy, the air smelt of fumes whenever we opened the window. The area around the hotel was disgusting!!!! Very dirty and smelly, full of tramps and prostitutes, absolutely disgraceful. You never felt safe walking around, we always had to take a taxi back at night. Please stay away from this hotel. This experience spoilt our whole holiday in Athens and I couldn't wait to leave. By the way, the photo of the hotel is 100% photoshopped! It does not look as shiny and beautiful as in the photo. AVOID AVOID AVOID

• NickSFCB (6/5): Nice hotel- sketchy area - Recently stayed in this hotel whilst on a trip to Athens. The hotel is nice, rooms were clean and sufficiently sized. The Receptionists were friendly and hotel has free wifi. There is breakfast included, small European style buffet. Only negative is the outside of the hotel, lots of homeless people, lots of drug use outside, which the hotel cant control, but can be uncomfortable late at night.

• Rayyid1 (2/5): AVOID AT ALL COSTS, RIP OFF HOTEL - AVOID AVOID AVOID Went for a 3-day break for my birthday with family, 2 adults 2 young children, arrived at 1-30pm, no greet whatsoever, miserable old man at reception, went upstairs to our room (301) room was average, clean, for 3 nights it will do, went for a stroll outside to see what's around, wow, a lot of homeless people and drug users along the same street as the hotel, it's sad to see but not what we expected, dinner was between 7-30 & 9-30, came down around 8, kids were hungry, stepped in to the restaurant and nobody was in there, a young boy came up to us and said take a seat, I asked is there a buffet dinner, he said no, is there a menu, he said no, I asked how come nobody else is here, he shrugged his shoulders, I looked at my wife and she was as baffled as I was, we sat down, almost instantly the same boy came with a bowl of salad that looked like leftovers from last week, we just sat there numb as can be, nobody touched the salad, within 3,4mins, he came with a plate of food for each of us that could only be as described as "rubbish" we were half board, breakfast & dinner, I asked him, what is this, he said, it's sort of a burger & rice, I had to laugh, burger & rice, he said yes, it was Luke warm, I am confused at this point, I said how come we don't get a menu or why isn't there a buffet, he said there is only 1 meal, whatever the chef cooks, that's it, I said this is awful, the food does not look like it's been cooked, this isn't right, he did not care, it was our first night, we left with disgust, went to reception to make a complain, guy said tomorrow there will be a buffet, I told him the food is awful and my children are hungry, he said there is nothing I can do, chef makes one meal, I said what if we don't like the food, he said I can't do anything, went outside and spent $40 on a take-away, next morning, had breakfast, this was a buffet, not a great deal, but it was ok, went out for most of the day, came back hoping to a buffet dinner, there wasn't, same thing as yesterday, but worse, I didn't want to sit in the restaurant but my wife insisted, hoping to see something different, same thing, bowl of old manky salad, then within 2mins, 4 plates of cold mash potatoe with mushrooms, sauce and cold meat, it was disgusting, we all got up, my wife and son stormed upstairs to our room, I went straight to reception to complain again, I asked the guy you said there will be a buffet, he said he can't do anything, I am standing there with my 8 year old daughter and explained that we were not happy and that we had paid for half board, he said we don't do buffet, we don't have menu, you eat what the chef cooks, I was shocked, I told him this is a rip off and you should be ashamed, I said I have to go out again and get a take-away, he said he can't do anything, it was dark, I don't know where I am going, walking the streets of Athens with my 8 year old daughter to find food, luckily there was a decent take-away restaurant 5mins away, another €50 spent, this is isn't right, next night was our final night and my wife said to save the hassle let's just go to a restaurant and eat, another €90, I have since complained to last minute.com, they contacted the hotel and 9 days later, the hotel said they are not gonna refund or give any compensation back, they have escalated this, waiting for an update, PLEASE PLEASE AVOID THIS HOTEL, location is horendous, it's so sad to see, we paid for a service that we did not get and the hotel simply does not care. AVOID

• Alison (9/5): We really enjoyed our stay at Athens one smart hotel it was a lovely hotel but in the wrong area thank you for a lovely - The staff were amazing and very helpful nothing was too much trouble for them they had a can do attitude And really friendly We didn’t like the look of the surrounding area there’s a lot of unfinished work to be done etc holes in the ground and there’s so much graffiti tags on the walls some of the graffiti was nice though
