Guest Reviews
- Paty (10/5): muito boa - cafe da manha e vista .
- Rafael (9/5): Los Ángeles en primavera - Ubicación y servicio El wifi es de pago (debe ser el único en el mundo)
- Nonya (8/5): Just came to relax for the night - The staff is really nice. The wait time for check in is way too long. The bathtub in the room needs to be updated as it looks a little dingy and should be updated, it shouldn’t look worse than my tub at home. Room service the first night was very helpful and attentive. Breakfast with room service the next morning was just ok. I didn’t see all the menu items that are on the menu at the downtown location here at this site. Asked for country style potatoes got tater tots from the kids menu looked like. They said they would take it off my bill when I checked out they hadn’t so the front desk deducted from my bill for me. I loved that I got a card candy and balloons for Mother’s Day. That was extremely nice and the kind of service I look forward to. This little act made me so happy made me feel like I mattered. I will stay here again in the future but maybe in a different room or a different location. If love that checkout is at 12pm so you don’t have to rush in the morning. The bathtub. Not a lot of channels on the tv. My name wasn’t on the welcome screen on the tv in my room when we turned on the tv. No country style potato’s at breakfast was given tater tots.
- Natasha (10/5): Remarkable - Service was excellent, beds were very comfortable and cozy. Staff were excellent None

- regina (9/5): I had a great time! - Location and staff Rooms were a bit tired. My terrace was not swept and furniture was not comfortable to sit on terrace. Rooms need updating

- Southerncharmtravel (10/5): Bright Smiles & Beautiful Mornings - We had a wonderful stay! The morning coffee service was such a treat, and truly made each day special. Jocelyn is absolutely delightful—she started every morning with a sweet attitude and a bright smile that set the tone for the day. Her warmth and hospitality made our experience even more memorable.
- exctb (8/5): Great hotel - pity about the other guests - Wonderful hotel and exceptional staff, even more so in the club lounge.
After a long drive we arrived just as the club lounge was closing its evening service. No problem - arranged plates of food and drinks (brilliant Margarita "Del Rey"). This brilliant service over the few days we had made our stay so much more enjoyable. Thank you.
Room was spacious, clean and well appointed as one would expect of a Ritz Carlton.
The only downside was the large group of drunken women that took over the outdoor spa on the afternoon we were there. They had brought their own bottles of champagne and snacks. They went out of their way to make it a very uncomfortable experience for others. I know people complained to the staff but nothing was done about it.
- Roche68 (2/5): Disappointed! - Outdated Ritz Carlton
We booked this hotel because we were looking for a wonderful weekend! When you pay this much money, you expect the attention to details!
The rooms are outdated, the bathtub has cracks, no loaf in the bathroom! The rooms have this old discussing carpet!
When u sit at the bar, u see the dust on the glass!
Disappointment!

- Meander58394872993 (6/5): Disappointing - For the cost and brand name, this was a disappointing stay. Service personnel from front desk and bellman station were the highlight, with responsiveness and service provided. The property was older and rooms were small and not furnished in a fashion any better than Hampton Inns we have stayed at. Actually, many Hamptons or Garden Inns are nicer! We did not see the value for the cost. The outside restaurant seating with fire pits at night were nice, but everything was overpriced, even for California.
- ryszardmoss (10/5): Truly Outstanding - Los Angeles has many good hotels, and we have stayed at quite a few of them. But the Ritz Carlton Marina del Ray is outstanding.
We arrived exhausted and out of sorts, and soon we were relaxed and enjoying life again. Check in was more than pleasant, the lounge staff are lovely (OK, I’m British), the public areas are attractive with top-quality artworks, the outlook on the Marina is beautiful. The rooms are spacious and well-designed.
What makes this hotel such a great choice? It all depends on the management. General managers of luxury hotels are highly competent, because they have to be, but Nick Dumbell takes it to a higher level. He is charismatic. Anyone smart enough to stay here will feel the difference.
- 57lacyc (2/5): Awful experience - I booked the morning of thru AMEX travel for my sons hockey game. I check in and the lady was friendly and welcoming. A few days later I noticed a $609 for a cancellation which was a fraudulent charge. I only stayed one night. They tried to tell Amex I had 2 reservations and not sure why the front desk lady would not have said "I see you have 2 reservations" and I could of dealt with it at the time. Anyway, long story short, I've spoken to their finance manager that has zero customer service skills. The grounds are nice. The food was terrible. RC Bacara is so much nicer and the people that work there are 10 x better.
- Rabbette (7/5): -
- Chelsea (4/5): Not worth the money - Location was great, pool was nice, spa was nice and clean, facials were amazing Rooms were shabby and furnishings were dated and incredibly used and beaten up. Incredibly disappointing. When we checked in, we didn’t get any information about the facilities, restaurants, or anything about our room. The room was not a 5 star value that you’d expect from a Ritz Carlton or the price we paid for the room. I definitely would never stay here again. We found the front desk staff rude and unhelpful. We’d called the night before check out and got a very nice gentlemen who helped us, the next day the front desk person claimed they didn’t know what we were talking about and it was made out like we were lying. During check out the receptionist had many things confused about our stay, we had lunch dinner and breakfast at the hotel and the bill was very confused. Overall this was not a 5 star ritz Carlton experience I’d expected

- Erica_EME14 (4/5): Disappointing x 2 - This is the second time I’ve tried to stay at this property. I say “tried” because I cancelled my reservation same day.
The property seems to regularly close the pool and hot tub without putting it on their website.
I stayed here last fall, specifically to enjoy the pool and hot tub. We were alerted the morning of the area was to be closed at 2pm for a private function. I complained and received various excuses but eventually a room credit and points.
This past weekend I again made a reservation. I asked through the Bonvoy app if the pool and hot tub would be open and it was confirmed it would be available.
However a few hours later, after I had gone to bed, the hotel messaged me through the app to inform me the pool and hottub would be again closed mid afternoon.
Thankfully I was able to insist on a free same day cancellation. However in changing my plans I had cancelled a reservation elsewhere, and ended up paying a premium to rebook.
Generally speaking this is a nice property. But it is poorly managed.
- GrandTour301637 (6/5): The hotel was good, the guests not so much - I stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Marina del Rey for three nights last week while my husband underwent medical appointments and surgery nearby. The staff were unfailingly polite, professional, and kind, and both the gym and spa were clean and well appointed. The on-site restaurant was excellent, though expensive and clearly oriented toward corporate travelers.
We were upgraded to a top-floor “club room” through our credit card program, but this did not include access to the club lounge. The “club floor” designation felt misleading, as it amounted only to being on the top floor without any of the expected amenities.
What ultimately ruined the stay was the last night. The guests (plus a few friends) in the adjoining room were extremely loud and disruptive from midnight until nearly 3:00 a.m. I contacted the front desk, and while security did respond, it took time and the noise resumed shortly afterward, including said guests pounding on the wall. The walls were far thinner than expected for a luxury property. Given that my husband was recovering from surgery and I needed rest before a long drive home to Central California, this was especially frustrating.
While the behavior itself was not caused by the hotel, I did not expect this level of disturbance—or the lack of effective resolution—on a Ritz-Carlton club floor. That final night significantly overshadowed what otherwise could have been a very good stay.
- Sharon (10/5): -
- Sheva (10/5): -
- Ricardo Aristides (2/5): Terrible experience with high expectations - Views Cleanliness, comfort of beds, restaurant tables, staff attention, old and not redone
- Lourdes (9/5): Nice - Next to a marina Was not as luxurious as a ritz Carlton standards
- Shalom (7/5): -
- kathym671 (8/5): lovely hotel but a bit worn - This was a splurge, and it’s a lovely hotel in a beautiful location but it seems a bit worn. Service was also a bit spotty. The holiday decorations were lovely though and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
- Sergio (9/5): -
- bhackehs (6/5): A tired Ritz ready for a facelift - This property has some pluses and minuses. It’s an old school Ritz property that’s due for a refresh. While the furnishings in the room were dated, they were in working order and having a balcony to let in fresh air was a nice bonus. Bed was fine, although could tell we were sleeping on some form of a plastic cover. The location is decent enough to take a walk along the water front/harbor. Food was fine. Room service breakfast was one of the weaker ones I’ve enjoyed recently with several of the hot items arriving lukewarm. The staff was largely well intentioned and very kind, however we left a personal item in the room and no one has called us about it a week later. This is probably one of the better options in this part of LA, but it’s a tired property ready for its facelift.
- skC7021VF (4/5): Disappointing quality - It’s ok an OKAY hotel. I expect higher quality for Ritz. Definitely not 5 stars, but should fall into 4 stars. The room is more like 3-4 star.
Bathroom floor is sticky every steps I take,
even after mopped by a cleaning lady.
Urine stain around toilet is just unacceptable for 5 star hotel.
- DavisEM (10/5): Marina del Ray Ritz Carlton - Wonderful! - Our stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey was absolutely outstanding! The location is perfect—right on the marina with beautiful views of the water and yachts. The atmosphere is serene and relaxing, making it an ideal escape from the hustle of Los Angeles.
The service was impeccable from start to finish. Every staff member we encountered was warm, professional, and eager to make our stay memorable. The rooms are spacious, elegantly designed, and many offer stunning marina views.
Dining at the hotel was a highlight—the food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The property also features a lovely pool area and easy access to walking paths along the marina, which we really enjoyed.
The club lounge is lovely, but not sure, compared to the others that I have experienced, would spend the money next time.
If you’re looking for luxury, tranquility, and exceptional service in LA, The Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey is the perfect choice. Highly recommend!
- MerlinC_13 (10/5): Not all heroes wear capes! - My family stayed here and had a wonderful experience. However, upon arriving there was a mix up with their reservation (that they booked incorrectly - not the hotel’s fault), and yet still, Chris at the front desk quickly helped us resolve the situation and save Thanksgiving. Later in the stay he would check on them and make sure they were having a great time. He stopped short of roasting the turkey and mashing the potatoes, but otherwise nothing would stand in his way. He was truly the hero of Thanksgiving 2025. Thanks for your professionalism and hospitality, Chris, and to the rest of the exceptional staff here!
- Francisco Garza T (10/5): - La ubicación Precio algo elevado
- Storyteller5327 (8/5): Very service oriented staff, nothing remarkable about the rooms, absurd food prices - The best part of this hotel was the staff and the location. If you were teleported directly into the rooms however, you wouldn't be able to distinguish this from many of Marriott's other brands. It was clean, comfortable and quiet but there's nothing remarkable about the accomodations.
The food price is laughable and the quality doesn't justify it. The breakfast potatoes were almost certainly frozen tator tots. Lunch at Cast & Plow was fine but did not justify paying the same prices that we paid for food in the Maldives.
Every person we encountered was service oriented and very friendly.

- Deborah (9/5): A beautifully located hotel, with a little luxury! - Ambiance and location Car parking charges!
- Trek28305415278 (2/5): The worse valet experience at this hotel from the world traveler - The worst valet parking experience I’ve ever had at this location. Extremely disappointing service. I will never book a stay at this hotel again.
- monomo215 (10/5): One night is not enough - After a late arrival at LAX, we decided to stay in Marina Del Rey. What a nice surprise. The bar downstairs was convenient and lively. Parts of the hotel show its age but it was clean and tastefully decorated. All staff members we had interactions with were professional and courteous.
The next morning, we were entertained by the crew team practicing (some may not enjoy the coaching calls from the bullhorn speaker), the bird calls (noisy but fun to try to figure out the kinds of birds), and the sea lions who were also loud but I didn’t care.
It sounds like I am complaining about the noise but I am not. I really did enjoy it all. I wish I had been able to stay another night or two to walk around and look for the birds and sea lions.

- nataliez617 (10/5): Staff goes above and beyond - The Ritz Marina Del Rey holds so much magic and a special place in my heart. Not because of the beautiful setting and views, but because of the people that work there. Jessica Lange is extraordinary as a leader to her team and as a kind hearted thoughtful individual. She’s also extremely proficient at making things happen and makes it look easy. And then goes above and beyond to a level I’ve never experienced.
During the height of the pandemic Jessica and her team seamlessly and gracefully and graciously worked with us 8 days before our wedding to switch venues to be at the Ritz due to unforeseen circumstances at our previous venue. I can’t describe how wonderful she was during that whole process. And then fast forward 4 years to our babymoon she somehow made our stay at the ritz even more magical than our wedding. She and her team spoiled us with love and the most thoughtful touches to make us feel like royalty.
On top of that every staff member we encountered acknowledged us by name and congratulated us throughout our stay wherever we went throughout the property.
Highly recommend the Ritz Marina Del Rey and working with Jessica and her team!! Thank you!!!
- Srnav (2/5): Avoid at all costs, worst Ritz-Carlton - John E's lack of customer service lets the brand down.
Bedrooms (which need refitting) smell of smoke.
The rooms are dirty, towels seem to have been folded and left in the room from previous guest - make up on the towels. Gross
Worst Ritz-Carlton I've stayed at. I wouldn't recommend
- Laird (10/5): - Great value in LA hotels
- MissBabette (10/5): Classy, kind, relaxing and delicious - best of all: the staff - We just left this wonderful hotel after 7 days. It was so wonderful. Obviously the location is beautiful in the Marina, and the hotel is classy and gorgeous with it’s signature style.
We had a room with access to the club lounge and Zsuzie, Adam, Alondra, Maria and Estephanie treated us so kindly and we’re so hospitable - like they were inviting us into their homes. We met many wonderful people in the club lounge and chatted with them, because the ambience was so quaint and cosy. Throughout the day they served snacks and light meals. It was delicious!! But what made the stay perfect was the people. Only minus was the internet in the club lounge. We don’t have an American internet plan, so working WiFi is something we really appreciate.
The housekeeping team taking care of our room were so nice, and made us feel at home everyday walking into our beautifully made room. They were amazing! And we really appreciated the smiling chit-chat everyday. Lush bathrobes and towels.
The reception. The two ladies checking us in were joyful and welcoming. Being greeted like that after a long days travel is so important. It sets the tone for the entire stay.
A couple of days later, I saw them again and we chatted - later that night we came back to the room where cookies and the sweetest note was awaiting us. Super thoughtful of them and something we didn’t expect. Thank you!!
Reception also helped us get pants altered and concierge helped us with a rental car. They were all so helpful and sweet.
Leaving today we were sent off by such a kind man in reception. He checked us out and just sent us off feeling like we were friends of the house.
Will we be back? ABSOLUTELY 🩷

- TravelingMansince84 (4/5): Old and Tired - Needs A Remodel - This may say Ritz Carlton on the sign out front but it IS NOT Ritz Carlton on the inside. The property needs a make over in a big way. So many ways to describe it:
Dingy
Dirty
Nasty
Tired
Worn
Smelly(but not in a good Ritz Carlton way)
The staff is very friendly, but it's hard to put lipstick on this pig. I hope the owners are reading this and that they will invest in a much needed upgrade. I can't believe Marriott has not deflaged this property.
- Siomara (10/5): - Nice getaway from home without having to travel.
- Loretta (8/5): Great stay. - Revisited after 30 years .... Much has changed. Overall a good stay. Excellent cleaning staff/crew.
- Eric (10/5): - Gorgeous hotel, very nice amenities. No complaints. Note: walls in rooms are very thin and you can overhear neighbors conversations & tv’s.
- juan (10/5): - Great
- UTAustin (6/5): Tired Property - needs a serious renovation or a reflag - This is a tired Ritz Carlton property. It "checks the boxes" for a Four Star property but is in serious need of a refresh. I feel sorry for the person who has to respond to all the negative reviews on here because many of them are correct; while some are over the top in the complains. Let's talk about what you're getting if you stay here:
First, the property is dated. When you look at the baseboards, the corners of walls, etc., you can see they've been more than used and then covered over with paint. The carpets show small signs of wear in the corners. The outlets and fixtures are old. You also have the sings of "questionable" guests: the sign threatening you for smoking in the room and the sign telling you not to steal the toiletries from the bathroom.
The beds are comfortable, the sheets are nice, the furniture is "up-end Marriott." The bathrooms are dated tub/shower combinations. The surfaces are nice, but things looked dated and cramped. The towels are plentiful and fresh.
The valet staff upon check-in seemed lightly disheveled which matched the front desk staff. They were nice enough but very casual in a "welcome to the Holiday Inn Express" kind of way.
The exercise area has what you need but the flooring looks dated and the wood around the windows shows clear signs of aging. Of course some of the equipment was broken. The pool looked nice with relatively basic chairs, etc. There are pickleball courts if that's your thing.
The restaurant was a highlight. I was a bit skeptical when I saw it but the food was quite good and our waitress was quite friendly. That said, you wouldn't not confuse the experience for the Four Seasons, the Peninsula, the Waldorf Astoria or The Beverly Hills Hotel.
My suspicion is that this hotel will lose the Ritz Carlton flag fairly soon. I just don't think it lives up to the brand standards, and it's not the employees fault. It's a mix of facility and training.
For the person who has to reply, here's a sample" "Thank you for your feedback and we wish we were able to meet your expectations during the trip. We have shared your feedback with out team and look forward to welcoming you back in the future. We are glad you enjoyed our restaurant and hope you are able to experience our hospitality again."
- Oksana (4/5): - Very dirty! Not a Ritz Carlton experience I expected.
- Dr.Mohammad (1/5): - Location My experience at this hotel was very disappointing, and I would not recommend anyone to book here. The rooms had a very unpleasant smell, and the furniture was extremely old and worn out, which is far below the standards expected from a Ritz-Carlton property. It definitely did not live up to the brand’s reputation.
- Katherine (10/5): - It was a very nice stay great staff
- mahmut murat (8/5): -
- Abdulaziz (8/5): -
- Karen (10/5): - Gorgeous view, setting and luxurious amenities!
- Melissa (10/5): - Best service by every single employee!
- LVBruin (6/5): Not the Best Ritz but..... - WE had a great marina view that made the experience a good one. That said, this hotel needs a serious remodel. I'm not big on showers in bathtubs with shower curtains but I guess that is it for now until they remodel. The bed was too soft with weird, pillow top like mattress or mattress cover. Parking is $65/night, probably in line for area. $24 for single shot drink in bar. A lot is nearby restaurants shuttered, gone the way of LA of late. Try Case Del Mar in Santa Monica. Oh, don't let the published price under $500 reel you in. It ends up about $750 with taxes, parking, resort fee. Same old, right?
- Noam (5/5): -
- SethR973 (2/5): Not the Ritz Carlton Experience We Know - This stay was an immense letdown and hardly reflected five-star status. Before booking this property, we reviewed TripAdvisor reviews and could not imagine that the wonderful property we stayed at years ago -- and particularly a property in the Ritz Carlton portfolio -- would reflect others' experiences. We were so wrong.
The lobby is very pretty and the service was generally accommodating, but the rooms are very dated, worn and requiring updating. The mattresses were sagging, the bathroom requiring attention, and the furniture clearly showed its age. There were no outlets for use next to the beds unless we unplugged the lamp and alarm clock, plugging in behind the nightstand.
A dog in a nearby room barked throughout both nights. We asked the front desk to look into it and nothing was done. Upon checking out, I raised the issue and the explanation was that it is a dog friendly property.
We've come to expect far more from Ritz Carlton properties. We moved from this property to a Waldorf Astoria property and the difference has been night and day. It is not easy to give Marriott our loyalty when this property is supposed to reflect its best.

- Voyager13951113674 (8/5): Hotel is just meh. Not really worth the price you pay. - We had the opportunity to stay at the Ritz Carlton in Marina Del Rey and I must say that I was not really impressed. As a hotel it was nice enough but compared to other Ritz Carlton properties it was extremely lacking. Starting with the room it was a little dated but well up-kept. The bed sagged so badly on the sides that the center felt like a little hill. Simple items that were always present at every other Ritz property we stayed at were missing here (bath robes, slippers, soap). The door lock to our room also died and had to be fixed mid stay and we were unable to access out room while we waited for maintenance to show up and fix it (granted it only took the 5-10 minutes to get there). I had also ordered chocolate cover strawberries and truffle platters to be set up in our room prior to our arrival which I also confirmed by phone with the catering department and even told them what time exactly we would be checking in. Not only were the platters not ready for us but they hadn’t even started the order (just to be clear this wasn’t an early check in as we got there at 9:30 pm). I had to call down to the catering department who apologized and said they’d make it right away. They did bring up a complimentary bottle of champagne to make up for the error but they also didn’t make what I had originally ordered and paid for. Finally, be aware that there are no ice machines on the property, though every room has ice buckets. After wandering around on my floor with no success I made it down to the lobby where I asked the person working the front desk only to be told that there are no ice machines on the floors and they would have to have the ice sent up to my room. The hotel grounds themselves are nice but small and not nearly at the level of what I’m used to experiencing at Ritz Carlton properties and was more along the quality of what I’d expect from a regular Marriott hotel. The most redeeming quality of the hotel and the absolute best part of the experience was the staff. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful and always willing to go above and beyond to help make our stay as pleasant and enjoyable as possible. All though the staff were amazing, im not sure id stay here again as I just don’t think the value is there for what you pay.
- 893betsyz (2/5): Hard to believe this is a Ritz property - We stayed here regularly years ago but haven’t been back in about 10 years. What a difference that decade has made and not in a good way.
Rooms are now dated, tired and dirty and basic amenities such as dental flosser picks, emery board etc are no longer provided. There aren’t even glasses in the bathroom. Rooms bizarrely lack minibars or even mini fridges and the stated reason (so they can provide “customized” and “curated” ones for you) is INSANE, especially since nobody tells you this when you check in… I just read it now in management’s responses to other reviews). I mean how about even if we wanted COLD WATER in the room???!!! The in room coffee maker was broken. The welcome amenity that should be provided to us as Amex centurion members was a few sad, bruised and dirty pieces of fruit in one room and NOTHING whatsoever in the other. At other ritz properties it’s been a beautiful fruit plate, a bottle of wine and a cake or pastry, and that’s what it USED to be here. As to why the second room received nothing, that is a mystery since the amenity itself couldn’t have cost them more than $2.
Menu options are extremely limited and SO lazy (many items on the breakfast menu are exactly the same as the dinner menu?!?!?!) What is worse is that the food and service itself reminded me of what you’d get at a particularly mediocre Marriott… or maybe more accurate to say that the taste and presentation gives off a distinct Aramark vibe. And it took us over an hour and a half to get our entrees at dinner last night because “there was a large party” dining at the same time.
Overall the impression is that the hotel is trying to save money in a million ways and is not worthy of the Ritz name. Overpriced, hugely disappointing and would never stay here again… and it makes me want to avoid other Ritz properties worldwide if this location is an indicator of how parent Marriott is now running the brand.
We have a couple more days here and I am too lazy to move bc I’m here for work but I can’t wait to get out of this Ritz.
Ps the doors have a huge gap under them which not only lets in lots of light from the hallway but also helpfully makes every sound from outside he hallway carry distinctly into the room to wake you up multiple times during the night. Which is why I’m (furiously) typing this review at 6 am.
- Linda (2/5): - Horrible, I was charged $600 for items that were not mine. The hotel is so gross and dirty. The rooms are not updated it felt like we were staying at a 3 star hotel, which is fine but don’t charge me $900 a night. Charge $300 a night so you know what you are getting. Disappointed and will NOT be back
- June (8/5): Very good -
- Fearless783085 (10/5): Nice Staycation Spot - My husband and I had a lovely weekend in Marina Del Rey. It’s been many years since we stayed at the Ritz and we were pleasantly surprised by the service, room, and facilities. We had an AmEx package and hubby has hotel status so we had food credits. Otherwise, food and beverages are very pricey (a simple Prosecco at pool is $20, plus service charge.) Two breakfasts and a meal at the pool and everything was delicious. Most of the were especially helpful: Shane in Cast and Plow was attentive, friendly, and service oriented even when the restaurant got busy. He offered us a nice table with views both days. Nancy and Carlos offered great food service. Tyler at the pool stood out from colleagues for his calm, attentive service. Bradley at the concierge was friendly and helpful. We stayed away for many years because of the arctic air conditioning in the hotel. We were astonished that this is still the case. It literally takes your breath away how cold the A/C is set in hallways and lobbies! Pool is large enough with plenty of chairs. Glass helps protect from the ocean breeze while allowing you to see the marina.
- Howard (10/5): - Always excellent.
- Garry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vacationer35478 (2/5): Stay far away - It’s like the Ritz Carlton forgot that this property is in their portfolio.
I travel a lot for work and this Ritz is by far one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. The rooms are old and filthy, bathrooms are not adequately cleaned and the beds are in terrible shape. The mattress sinks as soon as you get into the bed and the bed skirt is ridden with stains. Sheets are left out in the hallway. There is a strong mold odor in the room that meets you as soon as you walk in. Do not stay here. Horrible waste of money.
- Sharlisa (10/5): - Staff was very friendly.
- Ashoke (8/5): - Nice property, but the service (both hotel and the restaurant) is not up to par for similar properties in this price point.
- Anatoliy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sebastian (8/5): - Staff was lovely. Rooms are dated. The grounds are very nice.
- maxpaste (10/5): Beautiful Property - We loved our stay here. The club level is great, the spa is perfect, the pool area is lively, the bikes are a good option, and everyone is super friendly. The location right next to the marina was very convenient. Venice Beach and Santa Monica are very close by bike or car.
- Richard (10/5): - They were customer service champions
- Traveler29749559130 (2/5): Warning: Read before booking. Expensive hidden fees you should be aware of. - This hotel levies an additional $40 nightly “Resort Fee” so the room rates they advertise are misleading I booked a one night stay on the Concierge Floor to have access to breakfast, lunch and evening meals, yet was charged the $40 extra fee which the hotel claims is to cover amenities such as use of their pickleball court, gym, as well as a $20 food and beverage credit. I already paid extra for the food and beverage in the Concierge Floor room up charge and was not going to use any hotel amenities during my 1-night stay. When I asked the check in associate to remove the $40 charge, she refused saying it was automatically charged on every hotel room irrespective of class of room booked. As a Gold Elite Bonvoy member, I am very disappointed and will not stay at this hotel again. Pricing should be fair and transparent. At the Ritz in Marina del Rey, it is neither.
- Teri (10/5): - Attention to clean.
- Samantha (4/5): - The service was superb the property is old and the rooms are small. I booked a “large room” and it was not! Disappointing stay.
- 899khalidr (2/5): Sad visit - I left my AirPods in my room they have emotional significance as were presents from my grandkids
My phone shows they are still at the hotel
I never took them out of my room
I sent them multiple e mails and also rang them up but no one has bothered to reply to my mail I had the best expectation from them feel sad at their response
- Alena (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey. Our time there was truly enjoyable, and we especially loved the Club Level option — it made our experience even more special. The rooms were impeccably clean, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel was fantastic.
I would like to give special recognition to Rosy, the wonderful lady who worked on our floor. She truly made my day with her warm, positive attitude and exceptional service. She is one of the best hospitality professionals we’ve ever met, and she added such a personal touch to our stay.
Even though we live in the area, we will definitely be coming back. I highly recommend this hotel — and if you meet Rosy during your visit, you’re lucky!
- Jamey (10/5): Exceptional - Incredible location and service.
- Brad (8/5): - The staff was nice and attentive
- Scottie (4/5): - Badly needs a upgrade
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kerry (10/5): Overall we enjoyed our stay as the staff were brilliant and the food at the cast and pillow was amazing, disappointed t - Staff were exceptionally good and also was the food, locations was spot on as well. We were sold breakfast with the room on booking.com but when we checked in the reception team said they don’t do breakfast with the room, so we had to buy breakfast in the morning.
We have also not received our holding fee back.
Showers need updating.
- Kit (10/5): - This is my favorite hotel when traveling to LA. I love walking the marina in the morning, the spa is amazing, food is good and everyone is very welcoming. Whether I am traveling for business or visiting family, I always come back to the Ritz.
- John (5/5): Disappointing. - The breakfast in the Club Lounge was great and the best thing about the stay in addition to the great service offered
by the w concierges Douglas and Illini. The room at $700 per night was on the small side, outdated and lacked basic amenities like a refrigerator. It was
not as clean as it should have been when we checked arrived.
- Neil (10/5): Wonderful luxury in a great location. - Pure luxury. We loved it No free parking. For the price they should have free parking. They have the space
- Patricia (10/5): - Very good
- laurenrG8836AW (4/5): Longtime Guests Disappointed – Won’t Be Returning - My husband and I have stayed at the Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey at least six times, but after our most recent visit, we won’t be returning.
We stayed for two nights—one night booked with points and the other using an Amex free night certificate. As Titanium members, we contacted the hotel ahead of time to link the reservations and requested a quiet, high-floor room that wasn’t adjoining. This wasn’t a random ask—on a previous stay at this same property, we were placed in an adjoining room and kept awake all night by a crying baby. It completely ruined our sleep, so we tried to avoid a repeat of that experience.
At check-in, we found out they now charge a $40 per night “resort fee,” which includes credits you can use on things like dining or pickleball. But during our stay, pickleball wasn’t even available. Combined with the $100 Amex credit, it felt like we were being funneled into eating on property, rather than enjoying LA’s amazing food scene. The restaurant, Cast and Plow, is fine—but the prices are steep, and being forced to dine there to “use up” credits made the whole experience feel restrictive and frustrating.
When we checked out and were already en route to the airport, we realized one of our resort fee credits hadn’t been applied. I contacted the hotel and got no response for days. Eventually, someone named Steven from Finance replied—but he kept sending the same generic message, showing zero interest in resolving the issue or acknowledging our loyalty as Titanium members. We had to dispute the charge with Amex just to get it corrected.
Was it just $40? Sure. But it was the principle. We were charged for a fee we didn’t get the full value of, and the lack of care or accountability from the hotel made it worse.
Other issues during our stay included:
A leaky sink in the bathroom
Missing robes in the room
Our room was never cleaned
After we called about it, housekeeping came up three separate times—right when we were trying to shower—even though we asked them to wait
We’ve had better experiences at mid-tier hotels. For a Ritz-Carlton, this stay missed the mark in too many ways. There are plenty of excellent hotels in LA, and we’ll be taking our business elsewhere from now on.
- Harshjit (10/5): - My stay at the Ritz Carlton Marina Del Rey was exceptional! The rooms were incredibly comfortable and spotlessly clean, creating a perfect retreat. The staff went above and beyond with their friendliness and attentiveness, making me feel truly welcomed. Every detail was thoughtfully handled, adding to the overall luxury experience. I’m already looking forward to my next visit-highly recommend!
