- Gary (8/5): Last Time - We live in greater Sydney and choose to stay a couple of times each year because of the old world charm of the property. It will be a shame to no longer repeat here. Staff have always been very accommodating and flexible when asked.
- Natai2003 (10/5): End of an Era Stay - Location was good the hotel is filled and rich in history. The outdoor pool was unexpectedly nice and warm and the options for room service was good and arrived quickly and the staff are friendly and nice and good options were available for buffet breakfast.

- Gary (9/5): Beautiful hotel. - Impressive grand interior. Stunning bar & restaurant. Great location. Good size bathroom & bedroom. We had a lovely large room with a view. Thankyou. I think for the quality of the hotel, they let themselves down , charging for a barista coffee with breakfast. They do supply made up coffee. These days, it seems common to have a coffee machine for guests to use themselves. I would definitely make this my hotel to visit every year if they had a hot tub near the pool area.

Things don't work and special dietary requirements are made worse by lousy kitchen and staffing. Stamford could have handled this to give themselves a positive response.... but haven't given guests a thought in their planned demolition of the building

Its a real shame its closing at the end of September 2025 Slight musty smell in the reception. The breakfast coffee was average. There could be a biscuit with the tea in the room.
- Jill (8/5): - This property is perfectly positioned near the heart of Sydney, with the Opera House and Circular Quay a 5 minute walk. The Botanic Gardens and the Art Gallery are also very close by. We upgraded to a larger room and were really happy with the spaciousness, amenities, cleanliness and the comfortable beds. The added bonus was that we had a view of Sydney harbour. This is not a modern hotel, rather it is old school with large marble bathrooms, good lighting and lots of room to move. Some of the furniture had seen better days but for the length of time we were there, it did not matter. I would definitely stay there again as it is so convenient and reasonably priced. This hotel is also well positioned particularly if you don't have a car and like to explore the city on foot.

- Janet (2/5): - This was a shockingly terrible hotel. Do not stay here. It is so dirty, warn with the paint peeling off the walls, the carpets stained everywhere and bad smells throughout. I can not believe this is a 5 star hotel. Moreover the service is poor; no one to help with bags. It is a scary hotel, almost feels like a hotel from a horror movie or something.

- Amanda (4/5): Great location, very worn and tired hotel. Needs a good clean and revamp. - Great location, very tired and old hotel. Stayed 1 night and it is very close to the Opera House and city. We had stayed at the Stamford in Melbourne and expected the same quality or better in Sydney, which we did not get. The room was very old, worn carpets, frayed rugs, mould in the showers, leaking taps. Breakfast was below average and the price was very high for the quality of the accommodation - I guess you pay for location. The bathrooms could do with a good clean, a simple scrub of the shower to remove scum and mould would be great.

Die Matratzen waren völlig durchgelegen , verschlissen und aufgerissen. Das Zimmer, in dem wir die erste Nacht verbringen mussten und das angeblich schon ein Upgrade war entsprach absolut nicht der Buchung. Der Umzug in ein akzeptables Zimmer erfolgte am nächsten Tag. Insgesamt ist das Hotel nicht empfehlenswert aber es wird ja sowieso geschlossen! Dass Bookingcom dieses Hotel als 5 Sterne anbietet ist eine Frechheit!

Terrassedør manglede låsemekanisme og for at dørene ikke skulle klapre i vinden måtte de bindes sammen. Booking annoncerer at stedet har sauna, men den var lukket. Pool tillige delvist lukket pga service.

It is a lovely hotel in a great location. The staff were friendly and helpful. Very comfortable beds. Beautiful prints on the walls and furniture. It is a little dated and in need of a few repairs. The hot water in the shower and bath was only warm. The breakfast disappointingly didn’t include a barista coffee and there wasn’t even a coffee machine providing different coffee choices as an alternative. It has lost its exclusivity feel unfortunately.
