• Tammi (10/5): fantastic stay, close to everything and homey - Wonderful stay at this house just steps from Centraal Station (super easy by train from the airport) and right in the middle of city centre Amsterdam. Every touch included to make you feel at home while exploring the city. Roomy and comfortable, warm welcome and easy to work with David. New tech laundry just around the corner along with oodles of food choices and major tourist sites. Quiet, super walkable, right on a canal with great people/boat watching right out the door.
• Doron (8/5): - Very well located and easy to get to walking from the Central train station. Very clean but its really a guesthouse not a hotel. At an older age climbing “dutch” stairs with luggage can be tricky. Definitely recommended.

La ubicación es extraordinaria ya que está frente a un canal muy importante, con una vista plena al mismo y muy tranquilo a la noche. Es excelente el doble vidriado de la unidad. • Alex (8/5): 40th weekend away - location was excellent 5 mins walk from central station 3 mins walk from red light district 10mins walk to middle of town bed was best bed we've had away from home David was lovely on arrival Doorway was a bit tricky to locate as no real visable sign to see which door it is very small label on doorbell,says locker to leave cases in if your early or after you check out but were only offered to leave them on the landing outside the room we were going to be in as previous guests were not yet checked out(why score is only 8)

• Alexandra (10/5): - The place was great. It was very convenient and we were able to walk to wherever we needed. The room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. I would say that if you’re a light sleeper this may not be the spot for you. You can definitely hear the owners above the room when they’re walking and coming down the stairs in the morning, but if that doesn’t bother you (didn’t bother us) it’s a great place to stay!

It's a short walk from the main train station and to tram services, and there is an endless variety of bars and restaurants in easy reach. Be aware that this property is immediately adjacent to one of the red light sections of the city, so if you're traveling with children, they might be seeing some naughty things.

• Hayley (10/5): Beautiful view & ideal location - A beautiful apartment and the perfect stay for 2 in Amsterdam. We absolutely loved our time at Velvet Amsterdam and David was a wonderful host. He went above and beyond to help giving recommendations of where to eat and offering his help whenever needed. The view from the room is stunning and the location is ideal for exploring the canals and easily finding your way around Amsterdam. The room facilities were all as pictured and we had no issues, the room was a large size and easily accommodated all of our luggage. The bed was comfortable and the windows opened for a lovely breeze as well as a great air conditioning system if needed. We will definitely be back here the next time we are in Amsterdam. The stairs are very steep, although this is clearly stated before booking so it wasn't a surprise and something we were fine with.

• Gabby (9/5): Great location and excellent size room! - The location was super central, close to the main train station and lots of attractions. The room was very big and the bed was a generous size. The pillows were very firm and uncomfortable. The non slip mat in the shower was dirty underneath.

Although location was quite central, it was not easy to find as it is not marked clearly. It was marketed as hotel but it was someone’s home. There is a flight of steep steps up the room which make it difficult for big luggages. When we booked the place, was told we have canal view but was given rear view of the apartment instead. In addition , there was no cleaning service on Sunday which is “strange” for hotel’s operation , shouldn’t cleaning be on daily basis!

The room was very clean and had everything you could ever need. Given how close it was to all the nightlife you really couldn’t hear much which was great. Couldn’t fault it in anyway, if I were to go back to Amsterdam I’d 100% stay there
• Steven (6/5): - Good location. 17 steep narrow steps to get to your room and carry your suitcase, no lift. Not suitable if you have mobility issues. Owner lives upstairs, can hear footsteps every time and early morning. B&B as advertised, however no breakfast offered. Queried the owner, explanation is he cannot advertise accommodation under Hotel, instead advertised as B&B which can be misleading. Owner is friendly, overly priced. Not suitable for elderly people and with huge and heavy suitcases.

David was very helpful. a fruit bowl was nice touch. I thought I had booked the room with view over the canal side , months ahead. that was a bit disappointing. 2 rooms we had back room looking over a roof. best to check.

Good central location to visit Red Light area as essentially on the edge of it. David was a friendly host. Can be a bit of early morning noise from the stairs in the complex and people coming and going, as well as the street noise, but to be expected if you are staying in this area for the convenience.

• Paula (9/5): An ideal place of comfort to stay for those who be in the vibrant part of Amsterdam. - Breakfast not included but but fridge in room to keep milk so I had cereal and we ate out for husbands breakfast. The room view was great as was the location. The bed was the most comfortable I’ve stayed in and being kingsize was a bonus especially as husband is a large man! Room was modern and immaculate. The bathroom shower was. Being central there is a certain amount of noise from the street and cafes and people leaving the bars and red light district at night but then this was expected because of the location. I would definitely stay again but request the room at the back next time. Everything else was perfect.

We went for the canal view room but due to the central location wasn't ever really able to open the curtains as you have a lot of people walking past. Didn't have any issue with noise from the street but could hear people in rooms in the building walking around etc but didn't disturb us much. Overall a really great apartment in a perfect location. Would definitely recommend.
