Guest Reviews
- Mette (8/5): -
- Romero Pellicer (10/5): - Todo genial! Muy buena ubicación y trato del personal. Las habitaciones limpias y muy bien. Volveremos!
- Emma (5/5): Stayed 1 night as we transited through. Was walking distance to Trevi fountain and the Colosseum. - Location was the saving grace of this property, it was only because of our exhaustion that we managed to get sleep. Clean and tidy property, friendly staff. Very old elevator - dont expect to get a large suitcase and yourself in there. We travelled with a baby and pram and needed to make multiple trips in there
- Joneen (6/5): - This property served its purpose. Was clean, but a little tired. It was a great location for us as it was walking distance from the Train Station and was an easy walk to all of the sights we wanted to see. We were able to easily see The Collosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, Trevi Fountain, Leonardo's statue of Moses in a Basilica across the street and the Vittoriano Monument within 1 day.
- Dylan (10/5): - Kind, helpful staff and a great location.
- Scott (10/5): - Wonderful quant place with the best location in Rome
- Athanasios (8/5): A warm, comfortable stay with outstanding hospitality—just missing a fridge in the room. - The staff was exceptionally friendly, especially the owner who made us feel truly welcome. The room was cleaned daily and fresh towels were provided, which added to our comfort. The bed was very comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep. We also appreciated the one-time discount offered at a nearby restaurant—it was a nice extra touch. The only downside was that there wasn’t a small fridge in the room, which would have been convenient for storing drinks or snacks.
- Vasiliki (10/5): Sweet hotel - The hotel was the perfect location. Super close to the Colosseum and local restaurants. Not applicable
- Morgan (8/5): - Great location. Right in Monti and close to so many great bars and restaurants. 10 minute walk to the Colosseum and other historical sites. The bed was really comfortable. The staff was very friendly. 15 min walk from train station. Felt very safe.
- David (7/5): Was an enjoyable short stay. - Great location and in walking distance of many attractions and on major bus routs. The common kitchen area could be better organised.
- Beatrice (9/5): Superb - Pulizia 10
Staff 10
- Clare (9/5): Awesome Location. Comfortable room. - Great location. Walking distance to many sights. The area had a good feel to it as well. Very comfortable room. Good communication. The hotel was quite difficult to find but one of the managers came to greet us out front and showed us the way which was so helpful!
- Crystal (6/5): - The location is amazing! So close to the Colosseum and walking distance to Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. It’s not a regular hotel so some coordination is required to make sure they’re there if you want to drop bags early to start sightseeing. We loved the food at the restaurant downstairs. A few things were less than ideal: the hot water in the shower stopped working. They tried to fix it but it was then going back and forth from really hot to really cold. There are no blinds in the bedroom so it was very bright in the morning. Lastly, there wasn’t a railing on the top bunk so we were too nervous to have either kid sleep there. Upsides were the location and working air conditioning. The bathroom looked newly renovated. They also helped us with holding our bags before check in and after checkout.
- Moira (7/5): Excellent accomodation - The host is very friendly and goes out his way to help with Extra things
The place was very clean
And near the centre for most things
I would definitely recommend this accommodation The stairs if we didn't use the lift it's on the 4th floor 😞
- Christina (9/5): Comfortable apartment in Rome - Very clean little apartment very close to the Coliseum and Forum, felt safe getting in and out of the accommodation, has a lift so easy to get luggage up to the room. Small shower, was fine for us but others might struggle, but what do you expect in the centre of Rome.
- Kerri (6/5): Hard to locate - No signage and very difficult to find and no necessary instructions were sent to us to assist. Air conditioning stopped working and we spent one night miserable and unable to sleep. Eventually we were moved to a different room.
- Alannah (6/5): Pleasant -
- Clifford (7/5): Good -
- Kevin (6/5): Pleasant - Great location. Friendly and very responsive staff! The AC didn’t work. Unbearably warm in the room at night.
- Elisa (10/5): Exceptional - Everything
- Rachel (10/5): - Nice room. Very helpful staff.
- Wayne (8/5): Very good -
- Hannelie (6/5): Convenient stay - Location was good The room needs a lick of paint and some general updating
- Maria (8/5): Very good -
- Denise (1/5): Bad -
- cheryl (4/5): - did not realize it was a 'hostel' and not a hotel... this was not mentioned in the advertisement when we booked... the WiFi did not work well nor did the bidet... the best thing about the place was the proximity to the sites to see
- Lia (5/5): Close to the colosseum - It was very clean and super close to the Colosseum and a nice walk to other tourist sites. Really disappointed. When host found us outside the building there was no welcome or any real greeting. No signage at the front of the building to know that it is Duca De Cavour except once you are in the building at the door to the entrance of the apartment which has now been converted to separate self contained rooms. No option to decline daily cleaning as we don't like people in our space. A note behind the door saying to take all documents with you or leave at your own risk was not reassuring. Didn't get a good vibe at all. Coffee is not in your room as suggested in information. Was happy to leave the accommodation.
- Ken (8/5): Very good - It was close to all attractions
- Shawn (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location!
- Stafford (7/5): Good -
- Victoria (8/5): Fabulous location - What a brilliant location!!!!. In a fabulous area, literally round the corner from the Colluseum. The road is busy and full of restaurants. As a female solo traveller I felt really safe. The staff were really friendly. The room was clean. The bed was comfy. The room has air con. The air con leaked even when it wasn't turned on.
- Svetlana (7/5): Good for exploring Rome - The location is the best thing about the place! Simple room, but good enough for a few nights. A bit outdated
A limpeza estava perfeita.
- Shae (8/5): Perfect location, mostly great - Ideal location, good sized room for what we need it for. Helpful communication when required. Free WiFi, although temperamental and had to lie at the bottom of the bed for a signal. The walls really need painting, they are quite tired and full of marks. The bathroom was boiling and even when trying to turn the radiator down, it didn’t seem to work.
- Alaa (10/5): Perfect location , friendly stuff - Very friendly stuff , explained all the attractions around the hotel , gave us map and discount for the restaurant. We lost the door card and and they did nothing in return, no extra fees or anything. Many thanks to the owner he was great 🌹
- Verified traveler (10/5): - If your practical like us, it does its job. Great location, friendly service, high ceiling bedroom with large windows. 5 min walk to the coliseum and tons of restaurants in the area. Cleaning service every morning. Extra blankets in the closet & we went during spring time and didn’t need to turn on heating or cooling.
- Niveditha (8/5): Very good - Wonderful stay! A slight issue with the AC but apart from that,it's really nice for a 3night stay! The location is exceptional!! Do try out Benzos restaurant right next to the hotel. The food is delicious!!
- Itsanehr (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gonçalo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Teona (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing stay! The apartment was sparkling clean, and the service was excellent. They cleaned the room daily, just like a hotel, which was a wonderful touch. The hosts were very accommodating and even offered to store our luggage after check-out since our flight was later in the day. The location was ideal—close to everything we needed. Highly recommend!
- Rudy (8/5): Very good -
- Emanuela (1/5): Terrible Experience Despite the Central Location - I traveled for work, and the only positive aspect of this stay was the location in Monti, Rome. Beyond that, it’s essentially a room-rental setup, with no 24-hour reception, which is very inconvenient for someone traveling for business The door to my room didn’t close properly, and I had to place a nightstand against it because, as a woman traveling alone, I didn’t feel safe. Noise isolation is nonexistent—you can clearly hear people in the neighboring rooms.
One night, after returning from my conference around 11:30 PM, I couldn’t open the building’s main door. I called the manager, but he didn’t answer right away. With no way to get in, I had to ring a resident’s doorbell and explain my situation, asking them to let me in—a deeply uncomfortable experience, especially late at night on a weekday.
The cleanliness was also lacking. Upon arrival, the sheets smelled of damp laundry, and I had to request fresh ones. I also asked for extra blankets and made sure they were clean.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place, especially for solo travelers or those looking for a professional setup.
Additionally, the walls were extremely dirty, with shoe prints even above the headboard where the pillows rest; I took a video, which I cannot attach, but I’ve included screenshots to show the situation.
- Anuja (9/5): An absolute delightful stay ! - The property is 3 minutes walk from Colosseum and some real good pubs at the back road. The building is an old, palatial building.
- Olejnik (8/5): Very good -
- Rita (7/5): Good - The location was perfect. Super close to rome terminali and close to the Center. The sound isolation was terrible. The walls were really thin, we could hear everything. The water pressure was low but it wasn’t an important problem for us.
- Page (5/5): Passable - Tried to kick us out on the last night and we were initially put in the wrong room
- Gabriela (7/5): Good -
- Verified traveler (8/5): Friendly, cosy hotel - Excellent location, very friendly family hotel. Compact rooms and basic facilities, but excellent value for money and so much to see and do on your doorstep.
- Huijie (6/5): The stay was overall pleasant, I would have liked a bit more of communication from the staff and a cleaner room. - Very central and near to the Colosseo The bed sheets were not that clean. And same for the walls with some mold in one of the corners. The room was constrained and not that well isolated (noise).
- juan (10/5): - Minutes away from the colosseum.
- Daiga (9/5): Superb - Very good location, nice hosts, clean room.
- Terri (10/5): - Incredibly close to everything you want to see in Rome.
- Carlos (9/5): excellent price, clean room comfortable beds and amazing location. - the bed was comfortable and room ok. the faucet for the sink in the batroom lacked pressure
- Ben (9/5): Solid budget option in the heart of Rome - Great central location, comfy bed Walls were thin and aircon was loud, but good enough for the price compared to some of the surrounding options
- Liliana (9/5): Love it - We liked the location close to everything, coliseum, Trevi fountain, shopping and restaurants
- Carole (6/5): Meh… - Great location with lots of restaurants and cafes close by. Hot water only worked intermittently which was not enjoyable halfway through a shower. Water pressure was non-existent. Wifi is only 2G which is not sufficient in this day and age.
- Lindsey (8/5): Very good -
- Andrea (5/5): Passable -
- Javi (6/5): Pleasant - Location. No water pressure. Difficult to have hot water. No 24hs check in. Host kind but only spoke italian.
- Ann (8/5): Very good -
- Kylie (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (6/5): Initial Disappointment - Good location for the Colosseum and only a short stroll to Trevi fountain, Spanish steps and the Pantheon. Entrance very deceptive, Booking.com shows beautiful picture, hotel is actually behind a big brown door across the road, accessed by a doorbell. Had to walk up 4 flights of stairs before locating entrance sign on yet another brown door.
Coffee and tea making facilities actually a shared machine and kettle in the lobby/hallway of the hotel - not ideal for an early morning cuppa in bed.
- Małgorzata (8/5): Good option for one night stay - - close to Colosseum - reception open only until 8 pm
- low water pressure in the shower
- Dean (6/5): Pleasant - The late check in fee of 20 euros seemed inappropriate. The room did not have WiFi
- Lucy (8/5): Great location, comfy bed, nice staff - Great location
Reasonably priced The walls are a little thin so ear plugs are advisable
- Mariia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dimosthenis (10/5): Exceptional - The owner is especially helpful and friendly! I wholeheartedly suggest eating at the restaurant next to the hotel, Benso! Every dish we tried was amazing!
- Saad (7/5): Good - Anna was so nice and cooperative in side the room everything was great The elevator was small , no sign to know where the hotel, the building was old no windows I spent 1:45 min looking for the hotel no one knew where it is
- Lynn (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (10/5): Great location and great people - We stayed 3 nights in the family room.
Great location right near the Colosseum and Roman Forum, also close to the Metro. Service was great and the air conditioning was a welcome respite given the heat wave that was going on. It would have been nice to have a fridge in the room but that was a minor inconvenience. There is a mini mart next door where we could get cold drinks.
- Shane (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely Room, Enjoyable stay!
- K-opa (10/5): We had a lovely stay amd can’t wait to be back. We recommend this place as it is so close to everything at a very good - It was walking distance to all main attractions. Not even 10minutes walk to the Coliseum and 15 to the Fontana di Trevi. So many nice little streets to walk, eat, drink day and night!
Safe area. Close to everything, easy to find.
Clean. Awesome coffee whenever you want. Dario is a great host. He directed us and provided us with a map and all there was to see, how to get there, tips and more.
- maria (10/5): - The staff was supper friendly. It was close to many attractions and transportation. Close to many stores and restaurants. I felt safe at all times. I would definitely stay here again.
- Patrizia (10/5): Exceptional - Room seemed recently refurbished and bathroom looked pretty modern with nice clean tiles. Towels and sheets are of good quality and AC working fine. An elevator takes you up to the foor so pretty good for handling luggage. Near the hotel there are many many cafes and restaurants as well as a little convenience store. I would gladly return here.
- Andrijana (9/5): Superb - Location We spent almost 3 hours at the airport because of the crowd at passport control so we informed the owner that we will come later. The owner didn't have so much patience and understanding. We came later then expected (around 11PM) but it wasn't our fault at all. He was a bit unprofessional during our comunication and said that we have 5mins to come or we can find another room. After check-in everything was fine, no other complaints
- Aqib (10/5): Exceptional -
- Heidi (8/5): Cute, convenient hotel in a beautiful neighborhood of Rome. - Excellent location right outside a local bar, pizza shop, and gelatería. The community was quite friendly and neighbors greeted one another. It was in easy walking distance to all the major sights of Rome. The check-in was a bit confusing since no one answered the door bell. We had to go to a nearby hotel to ask them to call the number for us.
- Alexandra (7/5): Good - Location was perfect, simple but clean for a couple nights The lift was broken and hard to communicate though when able to get through to staff they were lovely and tried there best to communicate even if they couldn’t understand
- Stephen (7/5): Good -
- Benjamin (8/5): Overall, our stay at Duca di Cavour was good, some changes with make it exceptional. - Located in the Monti neighborhood makes it a central location to explore. On the hot weekend we were there, the air conditioning was amazing! The staff also were friendly and helpful, especially when we got locked out of our room and came in clutch to help us. Bathroom was small and the shower was difficult to use. Instructions to find the hotel were difficult as well. Should have pictures of which building and floor it is on.
- Natalia (6/5): Pleasant -
- Antonia (8/5): Very good -
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great easy stay - Was a great stop on our trip, would recommend!
- Paukštė (8/5): Very good -
- Julian (9/5): Superb - Excellent place to stay
Dario & team always helpful
- Jane (10/5): A great stay in a beautiful building - Very clean. Excellent location with easy walk to the colosseum. Secure and comfortable. Has a lovely old lift to the rooms.
- Francisco (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ian (9/5): Great location - A great location near Colosseum and other sites. Cavour metro station is close by and there are many cafes and restaurants in this characterful area of Rome.Staff were very helpful. Having a lift, as rooms are on the 4th floor, was also appreciated Street noise from restaurants and traffic can be noticeable if windows are open but closed the double glazing helps.
- Beyza (10/5): Everything was very nice, grateful for their hospitality - First of all, they are very understanding and sweet people. The location was very good, it was very close to some attractions and metro station, and the bus stop was right in front of it. The room was big enough and clean. Don't be afraid by the old building and interior, everything is new and clean inside. The people there helped us a lot with all our requests and did not leave us in a difficult situation. It's not that I don't like it, I just want to share a few things to keep in mind.
The bathroom especially the sink is small.
It's not a hotel, it's more like a place where you rent a room.
Also, do not look at the signs while searching for the place, just look for a large wooden door, you will find the doorbell there, and the elevator inside is working go to 4th floor and its the door on the left
- Michelle (7/5): Enjoyed our stay. Was close to restaurants, bars, sites & metro, shops - Perfect location
Lovely rooftop view of nearby sites from room
Room comfortable & clean A bit expensive
- Rachael (10/5): Exceptional - Great location. Friendly hosts. Reasonable price. Clean, comfortable room.
- Lauretta (8/5): Great value and location. - Brilliant location. Friendly staff. Nothing.
- Alasdair (7/5): Cramped but central - Convenient location if you want to be close to the Colosseum. Good restaurant recommendation next door. Very clean. Very touristy location. Entrance hard to find. Difficult to gain entrance without the ability to make an Italian local call. AC unit dripped all over one of my bags. No extra pillows until requested. Shower did not drain well. Somewhat noisy neighbours in the next room. Room very cramped - it sufficed for one night but I would not want to stay there longer.
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Honoka (7/5): Good - Great location. The room is very tiny as it indicates as “small double room”. You are basically paying the price for the location. It was overall okay.
- Owen (9/5): Superb -
