Anna in the restaurant was lovely, she greeted us warmly every morning and was very professional. The location was fantastic. The rooms were very comfortable. The food was very good. We loved the feel of the hotel and it was very clean.

The room was spacious and the breakfast was incredible. Also, if you're into fitness, the gym access they provide is incredible and only one block over.
- MarkC4427 (2/5): Hipster vibe undone by service experience - Nice room, good view - all undone by crap service. I paid for breakfast on the first morning by card, not on the bill, and their system didn't register it even though it had gone through my bank account. Then they hassled us for 24 hours for the payment. This included asking my wife three times where her husband was without explaining why. They were pretty rude about it. She was confused as you might imagine. Finally they asked me to prove I had paid...I showed my bank app with the transaction....they insisted on a screenshot of it, presumably for their records. It was a pretty offensive experience. Oh and the food we had when we arrived (dinner) was very poor for a hotel of this level. Avoid the soggy beetroot burger - bun and burger all merged in texture and tasted of very little.

Nice to sit in the bar area and chill after busy days out and about. Rooms not serviced every day generally but they were happy to do so at no extra charge.

The staff were super helpful and friendly. Highly recommend becoming a Hoxton member to use their loyalty program.

- LynnM911 (4/5): I would not book again - We recently had a group of 19 clients stay at The Hoxton in Amsterdam. The hotel definitely has a very trendy, “hip” vibe, which may appeal to a younger crowd. However, one thing that stood out right away was the lobby—it was consistently filled with people working on laptops who did not appear to be hotel guests. It gave the space more of a public coworking feel than a welcoming area for travelers. The hotel itself was fine overall, but there were some drawbacks. Once on your floor, there were quite a few stairs to navigate, which could be inconvenient, especially for guests with luggage. The rooms were acceptable, but for the price point, the value didn’t quite match expectations. Several of us had poor views from our windows, which was disappointing given the cost. One of the biggest challenges for our group was the lack of a dedicated space to gather before excursions. With a group our size, having a comfortable meeting area is important, and this hotel didn’t really accommodate that need. In summary, while The Hoxton has a stylish atmosphere, it may not be the best fit for groups or travelers looking for a more traditional hotel experience with functional common spaces.

Cozy without feeling cramped, and full of character, exactly what you would hope for in a boutique hotel in Amsterdam. What really stood out, though, was the service. Whether it was recommendations around the city or just small touches throughout our stay, they consistently went above and beyond. The overall atmosphere of the hotel is what makes it special. The staff are kind and proactive, the vibe is energetic, the restaurant is great, and the rooms are comfy and cozy. I will definitely stay here the next time I'm in Amsterdam and will look at other Hoxton hotels if I'm ever in any other cities where they have hotels.
- pmsnowdon (2/5): A bit of a disaster - Our stay was, frankly, a bit of a disaster. The shower had extremely low pressure – it was barely more than a dribble. I reported this, but was told nothing could be done as the hotel was fully booked. The phone in the room also didn’t work, which meant I had to go through the hassle of calling externally from my own mobile - not easy when you're trying to find and dial a non-local number. I was advised to use WhatsApp for support, but unfortunately received no response at all. On top of that, a room service order was delivered incorrectly. While I was offered a later checkout of 2pm instead of 12pm, this did not come close to compensating for what was, overall, a very disappointing and frustrating stay. Overall, it is hard to believe how much went wrong in the space of just one night, and it left a very poor impression of what should have been a relaxing stay.

- sarahv50 (10/5): Most Stylish Hotel for our Short + Sweet Stay! - My husband and I had a long layover in Amsterdam (19+ hours), so we stayed the night, and got to experience the highlights of Amsterdam thanks to being nestled right near the popular spots. The Hoxton is a stunningly stylish hotel right in the thick of Amsterdam's hustle and bustle. It's so close to all the major sites, and seemingly 'the cool place to be'. We were very impressed with the room, the cleanliness, and the service! 10/10 recommend!

We booked “The Biggie” room, which was beautiful and very comfortable, though it could use a few more shelves or a dresser for unpacked clothes. The view was not great if you care about that. The bed was very comfortable as were the pillows and bedding. The restaurant was excellent and my sister and I had our best meal in Amsterdam there. Great coffee made for a nice start to the day. The staff really stood out as well: super helpful, genuinely nice, and a big plus to the overall experience. Overall, a stylish, comfortable hotel with great service and food—just a small tweak needed on room storage.

The quiet location on the canal was ideal for its proximity to Dam Square (7 minute walk) and Amsterdam Centraal (20 minute walk) as well as being a short walk to many things to do like shopping in the Nine Streets and enjoying the food. We appreciated the waters provided in the fridge and front desk and the prompt laundry service. We also took advantage of room service from Lotti’s and enjoyed Winkel 43’s apple pie in the comfort of our own room after an exhausting day day out and about. We will definitely be returning to The Hoxton for future visits.

I travel to Amsterdam 4 to 5 times a year for work, and I wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else. From the moment you walk in, the team makes you feel completely at home. The staff are consistently warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. They remember you, they care, and they always go above and beyond to make your stay seamless and comfortable. It’s that level of personal touch that keeps me coming back. The location is perfect. Set along the canals, it’s central to everything, whether I’m heading to meetings, grabbing coffee, or just enjoying the city. It makes getting around incredibly easy and adds to the overall experience of being in Amsterdam. The rooms are beautifully designed, comfortable, and thoughtfully laid out. Everything feels intentional, from the aesthetic to the functionality, which is ideal when traveling frequently for work. Overall, The Hoxton Amsterdam delivers every single time. - Carmen Elisa (8/5): My stay was pleasant, but there is room for improvement. - I recently stayed at The Hoxton in Amsterdam and overall had a pleasant experience. The hotel has a great ambiance, with stylish, well-thought-out decoration that gives it a quirky, vintage feel. The location is excellent and the staff were very friendly and welcoming throughout the stay. There are a few areas that could be improved. While the decor is charming, the furniture in the rooms feels quite old and of rather cheap quality, which takes away from the otherwise nice design. In addition, the cleanliness of the room could be better. Upon arrival, I had to request a change of bed linen because the sheets were stained. I also booked a room with a canal view, which I was looking forward to. Unfortunately, the windows were quite dirty and could not be opened. As a photographer who enjoys capturing photos during my travels, this was particularly disappointing since it made it difficult to fully enjoy and photograph the view. With some improvements to the furniture quality, room cleaning standards, and better maintenance of the windows, the overall experience could be much better.

- michaella (5/5): Nothing special - The location was very nice The room was supposedly the biggest one they had, but it was in the attic, which made the ceiling super low and we barely have a view because the windows we’re small. This was kind of disappointing…(also looking at the price range) The breakfast isn’t a buffet, has some options though, yogurt and eggs. We had to pay for the water they served at breakfast, which was kind off weird in my opinion. Also no one of the staff spoke Dutch, which is ok but also would have preferred to just speak Dutch.

- cindy (5/5): - De ligging is geweldig De avond waarop wij er waren en gezellig met onze kinderen die in Amsterdam wonen een uitgebreid aperitief wilden bestellen werden we uit de bar gezet omdat er een privé feest was. Dit kan niet zonder dat klanten dit weten. Ik was erg ontstemd maar het enige wat de medewerker zei is dat we naar het feest mochten komen. :)) dit was helemaal niet mijn bedoeling, dit was dus een erg grote teleurstelling
- L8516RIvincentw (10/5): A Great Stay at The Hoxton! - We had the most wonderful stay at The Hoxton, Amsterdam! From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed and cared for. The room was incredibly comfortable, beautifully designed, and the perfect place to relax after exploring the city. A very special shout out to Geraldine at the front desk, who was exceptionally accommodating and warm throughout our stay. Her kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail truly made all the difference and set the tone for such a memorable visit. The entire staff was friendly and attentive, and we truly felt right at home. We cannot recommend The Hoxton highly enough and are already looking forward to our next visit to Amsterdam!

All were accommodating and gave excellant service The fact that we could not change our room due to a no change policy even though we’d ultimately be paying more for two rooms.
- arthur (8/5): Comfortable modern hotel in a great location. - Excellent location for exploring central Amsterdam Large comfortable room with helpful staff. The hotel has a very ‘buzzy’ feel. Music playing etc. Perhaps it would be good to have some quieter areas as well. Lounge was always full of people working on laptops so tricky to find a spot to sit for coffee.
- Jimmy (9/5): Effortless and comfortable. - An allround excellent hotel for a very comfortable stay. I appreciate the late checkout time and helpful staff. I only wish they had a smart tv and Bluetooth-compatible speakers to make the time in our rooms even more comfortable.

The beds were very comfortable. The breakfast service was too slow, waited 40min for our order, and then eventually left without eating.
- jarrekn (10/5): Ok - The Hoxton has a creative and youthful atmosphere. The common areas are welcoming and stylish. It feels more like staying in a cool apartment than a traditional hotel.
- 498jesseb (2/5): total rip off - totally ripped off. would not recommend. tons of hidden charges. The booking rate was one thing, then when applying for discounts, paid more fees, then even more hidden fees at check out. Hundreds of extra euros hidden.
- Karen (9/5): Great location and plenty of space in communal areas - Super friendly staff, great location. The room was lovely but quite small and we had to walk quite a long way through corridors to reach it! Nice bathroom and comfortable bed. Bar service was rather slow although staff were friendly.
- Glenn (7/5): Great Location - The location is great. The main sites are walkable and there is easy access to the tram system. There are also plenty of places to eat out within a 5 minute walk. We went for a large room with canal view so we had plenty of space and storage. The reception staff were excellent. It's an old building so, as expected, sound proofing isn't the best. This wasn't really a problem for us though. Our only issue was with breakfast. The hotel has an open access lobby area so there is no breakfast buffet option, only a menu. We didn't like any of the options, which came in huge portions and were over elaborate. As a consequence, we (and lots of other people) sent back lots of uneaten food. The amount of food waste must be incredible. The "Hoxton Vibe" they keep mentioning seems to revolve around dozens of 20somethings in the lobby nursing a coffee while staring at a laptop or holding business meetings - not exactly relaxing.

- Danh79 (10/5): Perfect spot for great city break - We’ve just come back a great weekend at the Hoxton Hotel. Great location in a fantastic part of the city. The rooms were quite small ( perfect for city break though) but looked fantastic with great bed and excellent bathroom. Really enjoyed the bar as well with a lovely atmosphere on both nights we stayed. Will definitely come back here when we visit Amsterdam again!

- jen_travels636 (6/5): A maze of hallways and stairs - Like many other reviewers have warned, the amount of stairs and long hallways that you have to navigate to get to your room is surprising. What was even more surprising, were the steep stairs from the bedroom to the bathroom within my room. I had an interior facing room which felt very claustrophobic, I would recommend paying for the canal view upgrade if you can. The location is very central, right where you want to be for a weekend in Amsterdam. The photo booth in the lobby must be the most popular attraction in the city, the lobby is a scene at all times. This hotel has too many quirks for a big box hotel. In my opinion, you're better off booking one of the many amazing local hotels throughout the city.

Room on first floor in back. Was not told it’s next to service entrance for hotel/restaurant. Very noisy.

We were able to walk to almost everything. Interesting vibe in the active lobby/lounge. Bar tenders very obliging. Had great breakfast service. One dinner - a brilliant hamburger. Staff were extremely helpful, cheerful and knowledgeable. We missed things like bathrobes and other room amenities. Closet would be nice.

- Hilarie (10/5): Would definitely recommend to friends to stay here - Extremely charming hotel- the “ cosy” room is perfect for one or two people . The glass ware in the rooms is crystal and they provide free water/ milk and juice in your room fridge! The bed is amazing I slept so well!! Excellent location to the trams and the city as a whole!

- F7886CWlisad (8/5): Good Vibe hotel - Great location. Not noisy and touristy like other areas we visited. Nice vibe/energy. Great for young and middle aged adults. Not good for young children. Traveling with 2 young adult children - 2 rooms. Difficult to get one room with 2 beds and it was very small-literally foot to foot beds! Second room was larger with king bed and larger bathroom. Nice to heat your towels on copper exposed pipes in the shower. Hot water all the time, very hot! Good skin/hair products. We had 2 angled beams that made room interesting but I walked into it once and I'm 5’1”! Wood floors, a +. Window with a view of canal, a +. No lobby to hang out in, a -. Upstairs area should be a sitting area for hotel guests - it was closed off for private events. Felt safe in room and hotel. Mini frig with free water boxes. Also free coffee and tea, free Tony’s chocolate bar and small bottle of Proseco for NYE. Ample glasses and mugs. 5 euro breakfast was a +. Small room did not get chocolate bar. If looking for a typical Hilton, Marriott or Hyatt American hotel room, this is not for you.

The hotel perfectly combines stylish design, a warm atmosphere, and an unbeatable central location. You can just wander around and discover all the beautiful small streets. All our contact with the staff was welcoming and very friendly. Every team member was friendly, attentive, and professional, always happy to help and offering great recommendations for exploring Amsterdam. Their hospitality made a real difference and added a personal touch to our experience.
