• Hasib (7/5): It’s was good and pleasent stay. Basic thing of a hotel is well managed like room and staff are good - Staffs were very kind and helpful. Rooms were not smelly. It was clean and housekeeping was responsive and well mannered. Did good job. On the con side washroom lock was broken and doors of the room wasn’t smooth. Also gym equipments can be well sanitised. Other than this it’s a very good value for money specially staffs are very helpful. Door and door knob.

Not having free water refill is such a small thing that makes huge difference. Noise from the street is also quite high as window is single (if you're a light sleeper, you'll need earplugs). Lift was under service hence causing some delays when guests are plenty but signs were there to provide the heads up.

The staff is very kind and willing to help or offer information. Overall, it was an excellent stay in KL, lodging at Melia.

• Peethamparam (8/5): Stay at The Meliá for its great central KL location, great doormen and clean amenities. - It’s got a good location in Bukit Bintang, close to all the shopping centres, public transport and food hubs. Berjaya Times across the road, accessed via a pedestrian bridge that doubles as LRT access for Imbi monorail station. Very handy - banks, food, groceries and mid range shopping. Around the corner and walkable is Sungei Wang Plaza with an excellent supermarket in Cold Storage. Jalan Alor night market for food is walkable. Go, try for a night, but avoid tht tourist restaurants either touts and photo album menus - it’s a trap. Eat in small stalls - snacks on the street. Close to ICC Pudu - best breakfast at and lunch food court, quick 6 minute Grab ride, 50+ options there. Noisy, hot and crowded - but you will have local food at local prices and amazing meals. Do. Not. Miss. I loved the doormen at the Meliá. Shoutout to Jairis and Rozee: excellent service and such friendly men. Remembered my name, always smiling. Genuine interest. Give them a payrise! The late night and early morning street noise can be sometimes affect your sleep. Malaysian motorbike riders love maxxing out their bikes when given the chance. Bring earplugs. They need to have a tourist friendly focus - no maps offered, no local knowledge shared on check in. Left to your own with no clear offer of local attractions. Tht room itself has no handbook of amenities on offer - ie where the pool and gym are located and signage is poor in the hotel. The lifts are narrow and hot with no AC. Room AC lacked a speed control, but generally cold enough to sleep well. Have to be creative if you want to do your own laundry, not many spaces to dry items. No microwave to reheat and just a kettle and small fridge. Complimentary bottles of water everyday. Bathrooms clean and towels changed and all the stuff you’d expect. Housekeeping discreet and he room safe was easy to use. TV has only local programs. No Netflix and chill so be prepared. Bring your own entertainment. Don’t bother walking anywhere unless across the road or around the corner. Grab is quick and you get to destination not lathered in sweat.

The restaurant was terrible, we ordered a simple pizza and a lasagna, neither of them were well cooked, one was undercooked and the other was burnt.

I had 2 issues which I was extremely disappointed with; Firstly it was NOT explained to me clearly where and EXACTLY how to access the Executive lounge so for the first 2 nights I had no access. Found it ONLY because I spoke to the concierge having said in conversation "what an average Executive Lounge it was" and he explained how to get there. Secondly, I ordered a desert with room service, it was not what I ordered, I took one bite only, it was stale. I mentioned it to the concierge and he passed both of these issues on to management and NOT ONE person spoke to me about it. Management had plenty of time when I was there and having returned 10 days later it was still not dealt with. Found that extremely unprofessional and having read the owners memoirs I am sure this is not up to his standard!

Breakfast team don’t know what they’re doing. Hardly any vegetarian options. The ladies at the salad section didn’t even know how to chop vegetables properly. It’s better to hire some trained staff than random cooks or interns.

Opposite Berjaya Timesquare which is one of pick up points if you’re joing a tour. Scums on toilet tiles. Could be a bit noisy as you could hear cars and sirens on the road from your room.

Location is very convenient - Imbi monorail is right at the doorstep, and lots of shopping centres close by. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We were provided with 2 bottles of complimentary water per day - very handy. Not having a hair dryer was abit annoying but not a deal breaker.

Booking.com promised provision of complimentary private taxi pickup at airport but, despite many requests, no response on the service by Booking.com.
