Guest Reviews
- Carole (6/5): - The location of this is great. Beyond that the rooms are run down. I can see this as a step up from a hostel as the rooms each have a shower. But the beds were springy and there is no AC so the snug double (which we expected) was hotter than hell and the windows open much didnt heap, but we did and for an hr every night you could hear every car that left the car park next door.
Don’t eat at the pizza joint next door. Worst mistake I made the whole trip.
- Theresa (10/5): - It was clean, comfortable and centrally located. Friendly staff!
- Francis (10/5): Fantastic location with friendly staff - Fantastic stay in a modern room with a good sized double bed and good shower room. The staff are pleasant and helpful. The communal area is well maintained and spacious. Good location close to Smithfield and some great pubs.
- Sabbina (6/5): - Accommodation was clean and tidy - however our room fob didn’t work so we couldn’t lock our door therefore we had to take all our important belongings with us when we went out and about around Dublin - we asked the staff to see if they could help but they only showed us a demonstration on how to lock the door and after I told them for the second time that it didn’t work I had to leave because our taxi was waiting and the meter was going up and the staff then went on to say not to worry and they would check the door but it was still unlocked when we got back
- Jonathan (6/5): - It's ok place to stay for the night.
- Adrian (10/5): Great budget option in Dublin - Nice budget option, so no TV or shampoo etc but well linked up for transport via the Luas (tram)
- James (8/5): - Good location a short walk from many key city areas. Awkward bathroom but still very usable. Would recommend the room for 1 person but we were sharing between 2 and it was too small
- Mirella (10/5): - Access to kitchen balcony gym bowling ect
Close to centre town
Comfortable spacious room
- Giorgio (6/5): - The room was not very clean, the staff was not coordinated, in the first day said that we can leave the luggage in the reception but in the last day they said no.
- Abby (10/5): - Lovely modern room for a decent price
- Derek (8/5): Decent accommodations - Check in process was simple, and lobby always had staff on hand. The bed is somewhat uncomfortable and toiletries provided are scant, but not unreasonable for price. Overall good, not great.
- Luke (6/5): - This room was surprisingly spartan for the expanse of this residence. there was no shampoo or soap in washroom. Small room. Overall not very good value.
- Lorie Denise (6/5): - It was assessable to certain areas that we needed and to transportation and Mike was the noisy birds and they need to put something on their doors it’s too much slamming
- Emily (10/5): - Really friendly reception staff who were present at all times to answer any questions we had. The room and the shared kitchen were clean and ideal. About a 20 minute walk along the river to temple bar, and less for many amazing restaurants and pubs, etc. Perfect for a short term stay.
- Andrea (2/5): - If you want to sleep, do not book here. I think the room feeling stuffy and warm was a rare thing in Dublin but because of this, we really needed the window open to feel comfortable. Unfortunately people yell in the courtyard all night long and you can’t get any sleep. Even with the window closed it was loud and didn’t stop till around 5am. It also doesn’t help that people pound on the doors from the inside as well. Also the bed is like sleeping on flat plastic water bottles, and a double is tight for two adults. I guess if you were two very small humans it’d be fine, or maybe if the bed was comfortable. The sink was clogged and took forever to drain. Also there are no extra sheets, towels, blankets, pillows or hand towels. It’s rough.
- Milo (10/5): - Very nice and clean
- Alice (10/5): - Great place super safe and clean and convenient
- Marshall (8/5): - there isn't enough space for a full review
- Gemma (10/5): - It was a great place to stay. Close enough to Dublin centre. The bed is a small double but fine for a couple. Although ours was in really bad condition so had to sleep on the duvet. The room was warm enough so it worked. Great place, would recommend but they need to invest in new mattresses
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is student accommodation that’s available to stay in out of term time. You pay a budget price but get a very clean and modern place to stay located in the heart of Dublin. The reception staff were friendly. The room is small and the facilities are very basic... but it offers overall great value for the price. We would happily stay again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very clean and presentable. Knew there was gunna be 2 guest but only given one towel. They wanted an extra €3 for an extra towel. Do not want to be sharing a towel
- Lauren (10/5): 2 night stay - Quick 2 night stay to sightsee! Could not fault anything with the accommodation and everything was available; such as the bowling alley and table tennis, etc. Could walk to many different places and it was very handy. People on the desk have good information if you needed to know about buses or where to go and they were approachable and helpful. Would definitely recommend.
- Ben (6/5): A lovely room, but not restful. - The room is very much what it sells itself to be; a university accommodation room. Albeit it very clean and modern, it’s a squeeze for two people to share. The beds aren’t quite a double and the noise from outside is quite a lot in the mornings. The bathroom is lovely however. The extras are all an extra charge, so bring your own extra pillows, hairdryer etc, all of this would have been nice to have been told beforehand.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Really
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Clean modern well kept property but bed way to small for 2 people . The mattress was the cheapest I’ve ever encountered, the springs kept me awake all night . It wasn’t worth €130, no hand wash or shampoos etc . €5 to rent a hairdryer from reception No parking . For these reasons I would not recommend this property.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic Dublin stay, comfortable room with four rooms sharing a Kitching lounge area , really enjoyed our stay with everybody being lovely and making our stay hugely enjoyable , This is student accommodation but we are 50/60 and loved it .
- Kelley (6/5): - With the understanding we knew we were staying in a student housing complex, I had the expectation of some basic amenities to be included. For example the option to get new towels if needed for no extra cost or simply giving us a bar of soap for our bathroom. I found it quite ridiculous you couldn't provide a simple bar of soap for your residents bathrooms and I had to go down to the grocery story to buy a full bottle for my 3 nights.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Cheap option - Just chose here as it was the cheapest option. It is student halls, so be prepared for a very small room without any character. The en-suite bathroom was decent but there was NO HAND SOAP, which is a bit disturbing. Similarly, it was nice to have access to the communal kitchen, but it was useless with no cooking utensils or cleaning items. The area is fairly quiet, but a quick enough walk to the Liffey, and close to the restaurants and pubs of Stoneybatter. About half-hour walk to the Temple Bar area, so not ideal if you want the tourist centre of Dublin, but decent just for a quiet base. Not a long walk to Phoenix Park, Jameson or Guinness.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - For what it is, it was great. Obviously is student accomodation (states in the title), so isn’t treated like a hotel. Reading some of the comments people have crazy high expectations for this, this is very basic accomodation. My room was very clean and comfortable when I arrived. All amenities were good, there was noise but what do you expect for student accomodation. I would definitely recommend and stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good location and a good price. Room was modern and clean.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - modern decor but not looked after and dirty. Staff were not friendly at all or helpful. Very loud surroundings - had people blaring music at 1am. We had a room move as first room was absolutely vile with unmade bed, dirty towels and left over rubbish from previous stay. Would never recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice on the Surface - Everything was very clean and modern, and they supplied the essentials, i.e. bedding and towels. However the bed was quite lumpy, there was only a very thick duvet for a room that showed at 26 degrees C with no air conditioning, and the doors/latches were so loud that all the people in my hall coming and going at all hours made my sleep not a very peaceful one. But if you’re a heavy sleeper that wouldn’t be an issue, and any time other than the summer it probably wouldn’t be so warm.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I hate how confusing it is. The architecture seemed unecessaruly complex. I feel each building should have its own lobby or something. Or at least hand out a very clear (and maybe 3D) map to every guest.
It was clean but not spotless. There were like, water stains on the walls in the shower and also in the grout between the tiles on the floor which i can't stand😣 Grout should really be scrubbed with a brush in order to maintain its cleanliness.
The bed sheets had some random black spots which i brushed off but made me feel dirty when sleeping.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great room - Not sure why this property has a 6.8/10 rating given my most recent stay. The room was conveniently located - 15 min walk to temple bar, very clean, and extremely affordable. I must admit the room/bed was relatively small, but it was an excellent deal for the price/location. Would highly recommend to anyone on a budget and planning to spend the majority of their time exploring the city of Dublin!
- Colton (4/5): - Very tiny room and bed with no amenities in the bathroom whatsoever. My room was right next to the smoking area outside as well so it stank and was noisy. Not worth the price in my opinion.
- Amelia (8/5): - I love the place! It is very clean, very safe and it is near the centre. It is also near the supermarket, few yards from Aldi.
I will recommend this to all the travellers!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very secure and clean. Private room and shower. Common room with full kitchen was great! Walking distance from many attractions. Only feedback I would give, is to put hand soap in the bathrooms.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room in what is usually accomodation was very basic - no amenities provided in the room - with a very uncomfortable bed. This would be understandable if it was very cheap, however at €75 per night, it's not really justifiable. On the plus side, the room was very well cleaned and the en suite bathroom was very nice. We would rather have stayed in a purpose built hotel or bnb however there was nothing affordable ij Dublin even at 6 or so weeks' nitice
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The accommodation was clean and service excellent. Great location for walking to the centre, the zoo & park as well as bus tours. A supermarket very close. The apartment was very tidy and well serviced. A bit noisy with other people coming & going but overall an excellent place to go.
- M. (8/5): - The rooms are quite nice but we found the common areas dirty. We found later that the common areas are only cleaned when everyone is checking out of an apartment, since our apartment contained 8 rooms of different people coming and going, it appeared that our common room had not been cleaned for some time.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wasn’t what I was expecting for student accommodation but I was pleasantly surprised. Was excellent and will stay there again
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean compact room in a reasonably central location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The place is clean, has kirchen amenities and grocery stores around the corner. For the price,do not expect daily room upkeep nor any bathroom essentials, but they do provide clean towels. The rooms are small but bedsheets are clean,no stains and no funky smell. I would definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location, very clean, modern rooms. However booked this expecting an equipped kitchen - however, there were only forks and spoons. No plates, knives etc - all good having a microwave and oven, but useless without utensils or mere plates to eat off.
- Sergio (2/5): Single bed sold as "small" double bed - The beds are way too small - they are just about okay for two skinny teenagers to share. To expect two average size adults to be able to share that bed is just ludicrous. I know the size of the bed was indicated in the booking but how many people will realize that a "3/4 Size Small Double Bed" is just too small? We asked for an extra mattress to sleep on the floor but the the hotel could not provide one. We asked to cancel one of the rooms but again the hotel would not facilitate it, and I was forced to sleep on the floor using just a duvet. What a nightmare of a stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Ardcairn House was a good place to stay. The room was small but had plenty of outlets and lighting. It was very clean and the grounds were very well maintained. There was some activity from the students late at night a couple times but that should be expected when staying in a college dorm. The cleaning people did open my door a couple times on the day I was to check out once when I was still in bed and another time when I was in the shower but they immediately closed it. Other than that I really enjoyed staying there.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Awful rooms, we got a dirty room with hair and dirt in bed plus bugs in bed and ceiling. Bed was tiny and It’s too far from anything!
- Ola (10/5): - This is the best place I have ever stayed in Dublin! Right in the middle of the city and with the serenity of a peaceful oasis. This is a must stay place for anyone coming to Dublin and on a budget too. Forget the big 5 star Burlington or any other hotels in the 5 star range with 5 figure prices this beats them all!!!! Use your money to enjoy a beautiful vacation while you enjoy all Ardcain house has to offer. ‘Nuff said.,,,, thanks to everyone.
- Charles (10/5): Pleasant stay - Fantastic place to spend a week. New, clean, upscale, well-kept, friendly staff. Don’t be put off by “student accommodation”. I had a private room with en-suite shower in a suite with 7 other rooms, most of which were unoccupied. Shared kitchen/lounge and balcony with the suite. Kitchen was well-equipped with appliances but light on utinsels and no staples. Neighborhood is quiet but quite walkable with plenty of nearby cafes and restaurants, pubs, and shops. Would absolutely stay here again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely communal areas. Very clean
Great shower
Fast check in
Quiet at night
- Anette (10/5): - Everything was amazing!
Highly recommend this place for your next stay in Dublin.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The rooms were nice and clean. But it was so Noisy! People yelling and slamming doors. It didn't quiet down until 4am every night so we got no sleep at all.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Close to the city center. Walkable and convenient public transportation. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice common rooms. Very safe and secure with many different door to access with the key. Individual bathrooms. Quite spacious dorm rooms.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I liked the fact that the property was new and close to the supermarket, nice cafes and the luas which made it easier to get to see all the great sights in downtown Dublin. The staff was helpful and answered my questions. They were kind to change my room. Out of seven nights I stayed there, 6 nights were peaceful and restful. Unfortunately during one of the nights there was an Irish festival taking place for young people. One of the youths staying in the room next to me was very loud and obnoxious but the security staff dealt with it and the staff was happy to change my room. Other than that, this property is a nice place to stay while visiting Dublin.
- Grace (4/5): - Did not like at all too noisy and beds were terrible
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Chic, neat and clean! Fairly close to the city centre. Nearest bus stop is about 10 minutes from the property though. The only drawback is the size of the beds - way too crammed for 2 people!
- Zuzanna (10/5): - Amazing stay. Definitely coming back next year.
- Kathleen (4/5): - Bed was small and REALLY uncomfortable. No amenities at all (had to buy hand soap and shower gel).
- KATIE (6/5): Unless really stuck, I would avoid - Nice, clean apartments for student accommodation although room and bed was quite small to fit 2 adults. If you require your towels changed it is €6, we were staying for three days and would not change towels without an additional fee. Receptionists are quite young (maybe students themselves) and inexperienced to be working a desk responsible for so many bedrooms. Quite expensive overall taking everything into account. Will not be returning.
- Catherine (2/5): STUDENT HALLS - Beware... the description is misleading, this is student halls. The bed is very small and is only really suitable for one person. Be prepared for only very basic facilities- no hand towel, soap etc. Students still staying here during our stay so it was very noisy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - basic but has everything you need friendly helpful staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Close to the city center, simple and clean accommodation at a great price. Rooms are college dorms, so don't expect more than that and you will be fine.
- Jack (4/5): - The property was very clean. The major downside to this hotel was the extreme amount of noise at night. The doors were very loud when they closed, the hallways echoed and the intoxicated people/students were very disruptive at night. Im not sure why they would mix a "hotel" in with student housing. Would not reccomend to anyone to stay here.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very good value for money! Clean and Central. Also Aldi within 2 minutes walk is a distinct advantage!
- Stuart (10/5): Great business stay - Stayed for 4 nights this week whilst working in Dublin. New building, great facilities and really spoilt for space not only in the bedrooms, but having the ability to use the kitchen/living area also.
Great location as Dublin so easy to get around. Will definitely use again this summer as value for money exceeds hotels that are overpriced during summer months.
- Adam (8/5): Overall great, but... - Overall, our stay was great!
Me and my boyfriend stayed for one night and were pretty pleased. The ceiling shower was great for my boyfriend as he is 6ft 7". The room was modern, tidy and the mattress was very comfortable.
The location is pretty central and there is a Lidl just around the corner.
The pillow and quilt were a little too thick for my liking, I found that the quilt cover was also way too big for the quilt inside.
My other critique would be that the blinds let a lot of light in on the sides so that made sleeping quite difficult when I started to wake.
Apart from these subjective flaws, I'm overall pretty pleased for the price we payed for one night.
- Judy (10/5): - All the young people working at this residence were wonderfully helpful. They are keeping everything very clean and they went out of their way to give excellent service.
- Mark (8/5): Great facility, yet very noisy court yard. - Very new was and clean facility with unique features: gym, bowling alley, bike lockers, entertainment room, indoor and outdoor ping pong, laundry.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was very small and claustrophobic and too warm. The room was supposed to be a double room but the bed was more like a single bed. Except that it was good. The staff was amazing, very friendly and accommodating and helpful. The decor and amenities were amazing. We had a very good stay.
- MoBd90 (10/5): - Excellent location and very newly renovated. Room was small but very clean and tidy. Only the issue is they are renting as a hotel. So they should give housekeeping service on daily basis. Otherwise our Stay was pleasant.
- Mark (8/5): - It’s great for one person! Walk with your own wash cloth and soap (they do however provide towels).
It’s 1 twin size bed, on a college campus. If you’re by yourself and don’t have a lot of things, the location and price of the room make it worth it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved it , great location and great price . The staff are friendly and very helpful ...accommodation is very clean and comfortable ...Will definitely book again .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location and friendly staff ...Great price ...definitely worth the price and location .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Everything was well-organized and all the young people doing everything were wonderful. The only problem was the noise in the courtyard that lasted until 3:00 in the morning. For most of my stay I was in a very quiet room but in the last night I switched to the courtyard. I couldn’t sleep st all as people were making so much noise so then I had to shut the window snd then it was too hot.
- farzad (8/5): - considering the place as a student accommodation and not a hotel, I should say that it was good and inexpensive. There is a shared kitchen with refrigerator microwave and electric kettle.
Be informed that cinema and music room and bowling are not for short period staying.
You should bring your own soap, toothbrush, towel and .....
the location is great. safe and near to city center.
In overall, I enjoyed the place and if I travel again I will choose it.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I was super sick and had been stuck in my room for 2 days cause I couldn’t move. I asked the front desk if they could change my sheets and they said it happens after the 3rd night, and it was that next day so I was like sweet well it’s today. Never happened, I was stuck in toxic sweat.
They don’t even supply a small bar of soap!!! I think that’s the minimum one would expect.
Finally they threw out my food I had just put in the kitchen area.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I already said it. It was one of the worse experience I have had! Obviously at this point no one cares nor I get my money back! I just don’t get it why Expedia conduct business with Them.
