ANJUGOELA (8/5): Central, Yet Peaceful... - Pros: 1. Location - Barely 400 meters (walking distance) from the Santa Maria Novella train station. If you arrive by train, and do not have too much luggage, you can walk up to the hotel. Also, it is on Piazza Santa Maria Novella - a great hang-out place for youngsters, with bars and restaurants, and of course the beautiful Sant Maria (must see) Church. 2. Sights - The Duomo, Ponte Veccio, Uffizi Gallery, Accademia Gallery are all walking distance from the hotel. It is very central, without being in noisy. 3. Hotel - You can watch the sunset from the Rooftop Bar (next to the pool). Great for a sundowner. The food was good. The staff were polite and helpful. They also lent us adapters on request. The breakfast was decent. Cons: 1. The room was small, and not really value for money. I found the pricing steep 2. No drinking water in the room, even after charging so much.

The location is unbeatable, we were literally able to walk to it easily with our luggage from the train station. It is situated on a beautiful plaza, with a rooftop bar, that provided the most amazing views of the city! Would stay here again in a heartbeat, as well as recommended to our family and friends! Our suite was absolutely stunning, with beautiful fresh, modern, and inviting color scheme, and well appointed! Our family of four stayed comfortably in this room, that provided a large king bedroom, and two day beds for our kids. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating with every request! Breakfast was delicious and provided a wide variety! Can’t say enough good things about this hotel!

Naoki (1/5): Trip Overshadowed by Lobby Theft and Limited Follow-Up - My partner’s travel bag was stolen in the hotel lobby during checking. Surveillance video later showed two men following us inside - one distracted my partner while the other walked off with the bag, all in a matter of seconds. A few concerns: The lobby, which opens directly onto Florence’s largest piazza, is expansive and highly permeable, but seems to be often staffed by a single receptionist. When we realized what had happened, another staff member came out from the office but seemed unsure how to proceed, explaining that only the general manager could review the security footage, and that he was not immediately available. The following morning, having lost our sense of security there, we decided to end our stay early. To his credit, the GM apologized in person, assuring us that an insurance claim would be filed, and didn’t charge us for the night. Since then, however, we’ve received no meaningful updates regarding the claim. For what it’s worth, the room itself at Grand Hotel Minerva was spacious and adequately appointed, if somewhat dated. Breakfast staff were warm and attentive. Unfortunately, without a basic sense of security - and lack of thorough follow-up - those positives ultimately mean very little.

Safari42465475376 (10/5): Couldn't be better - Absolutely awesome hotel. Large comfortable well appointed rooms. A super attentive staff. Just a few minutes walk from almost everything you'd want to see in Florence. Outstanding breakfast. Staff gave us great restaurant recommendations. A few minutes walk from the train station. Despite it's location on a large piazza, it was perfectly quiet at night. Because we were there during the winter, we didn't have a chance to use the rooftop pool.

merrynp635 (10/5): Stop looking, this is the place for you! - There are not enough superlatives to adequately describe our stay at this wonderful hotel. Location is excellent, close to many attractions. Service is on point! And when our room door had a technical issue they immediately upgraded us to a deluxe room with a view for the duration of our four-night stay. The breakfast buffet is one of the best we’ve experienced with attentive, experienced staff ensuring all runs smoothly! Don’t miss a trip to the bar for a Negroni Toscana made authentically by a Florentine bar tender. This is Quality with a capital Q! Stayed during Winter so didn’t experience the pool this time, but will be a return guest in future for sure! Bravo!!
patricklS2090UC (2/5): The only bad experience in Italy - When our mom died suddenly 5 days before our trip to Italy in 2023, there was a lot to cancel. We had 2 hotels booked in Italy. The first one gave us a complete refund and their condolences. The second one, The Grand Hotel Minerva, told us that they would offer a credit to be used with one year - no condolences. Because we lost a lot of money, and live out of the country, we could not return within 365 days. When I reached out after this time, the hotel said they’d give us a 20% discount if we returned within another year. We were able to accomplish that this past December. We were shocked upon arrival to learn that they would no longer honor their promise due to the way we re-booked it. It seemed strange that an oversight in booking would have anything to do with a gesture of kindness during a difficult time. You either care enough to extend a gesture or you don’t. They didn’t. We were embarrassed for them as they verbally wrestled with us at the desk, missing our point continually. Both the desk clerk AND manager GIACOMO BALESTRI (a soulless man) could not leave their script, saying there was nothing they could do. As a person who worked in hotels for many years, there is a LOT that a manager can do. There is a lot that a desk clerk could have done. Their tight clutch to 20% of our stay was neither a good business decision nor a human relations one, particularly that this story was about a death. As a further insult, they took 10% off our dinner from a dinner we had at the hotel, disclosing that they indeed had the power to do more. The hotel itself was clean and of course the views are great. But the warmth of Italy was not represented here. In fact, it was a side of humanity I wish to never experience again.
tjryanesq (10/5): A gem of a place, run by gems of humans. - I don't normally post reviews unless a location was remarkably horrible or exceptional. Grant Hotel Minerva represents the latter. It was recommended by our travel advisor, and did not disappoint. The staff is courteous, welcoming, and speaks wonderful English. Upon arrival, they take you to your room and show you how it operates, since there are eccentricities from American hotels. The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable, and the bathrooms well appointed. (Oddly they didn't include wash cloths, but I also never asked for one.) The hotel atmosphere is fantastic. There's comfortable seating all around, and a rooftop bar and seating area where you can enjoy the surrounding environs. It's fantastically clean, and I never heard another human while inside my room the whole time we were there (3 nights). The food is fantastic and the service top notch. The hotel has a small, intimate lobby bar with a wonderful assortment of wines and drinks, which are carefully made by hand and with care. The included breakfast is high quality, wide ranging, and fresh. The coffee (espresso) and cappuccino was delicious. I would be remiss if I did not mention the food and beverage manager, Paolo Micheli. He greeted us every morning with a smile, catered to our every need, and was a wonderful companion in the bar in the afternoon. He has great insights into Florence and the surrounds, and is just a joy to speak to. If you meet a tall man, well appointed, wearing glasses, that's likely him. Say hi and chat him up. I will 1,000% be staying here again and I cannot wait to do so.

Bostontravels (10/5): Great hotel, great staff - Return visitors to this lovely, very well located hotel and we were equally as pleased visiting here in winter as we have been in early summer. Last time we stayed we had a beautiful duplex suite, this time we had a junior suite and a premium view room right next door to each other on 4th floor looking out onto the Piazza Santa Maria Novella. The views were truly gorgeous, we captured some great photos from our rooms and from the rooftop terraces. The terraces are closed for service (food etc) during winter, but they were open to go up and enjoy the views, get some pictures and fresh air. Hotel is perfectly located, less than 5 minute walk from train station, we walked everywhere while in the city, Pitti Palace, Santo Spirito & Oltrarno districts, all along the river. Florence is a great place to walk everywhere and this hotel is a perfect location to start and finish those walks. Breakfast in morning was ample and tasty, the bar area for pre or post dinner drinks was staffed by lovely people and very chic. Highly recommend.

Check in process can be length with the passports and all that but that’s not their fault. It just feels long when all you want to do is get to the room. The gym is great and has all your essentials. Would love to visit this hotel in the summer time. Nothing it’s perfect.
186padraigm (10/5): Charming hotel in the center of Florence - We had a wonderful experience at this hotel due to the fantastic staff. They were always very hospitable and friendly. They all went out of their way to make our trip special. The hotel itself is lovely and situated in the center of Florence. Everything is within walking distance and we had a brilliant 4 days going to all the historic sites and doing a bit of shopping. We are already looking forward to going back.

FloatingRock93 (10/5): Walkable Hotel in Florence - This boutique hotel at the outskirts of downtown was conveniently located, allowing walking to most places within 15-20 minutes. It was also well furnished - shout out to the heating system in the bathrooms - with a basic but decent selection for breakfast. The restaurant had good food and friendly staff throughout. This is a good home base for a trip to Florence, and the views from the rooftop are also a plus point.

The room was beautiful, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The location was perfect—everything we needed was within walking distance including the train station. And when we needed a taxi one time, the front desk called one for us, and it arrived within moments. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The staff and the rooms were great and also the front desk made some fantastic recommendations along the way. They made our trip to Florence extra special. Thank you and we look forward to coming back!
Wessam (7/5): OK for one night. But if you're looking for comfort, sleep somewhere else. - The hotel dates back to the 1800s, but has been recently renovated. As soon as we set foot into it, we felt immersed in luxury and drawn by art installations everywhere we looked. The hotel lobby is just stunning. Our suite was absolutely beautiful and featured a ceiling that was part of the Santa Maria Novella monastery. It was a special room that made us feel special. It took us on a trip to the past, but kept us grounded in the present. The hotel is centrally located next to the Santa Maria Novella train station and is a walking distance to anywhere in Firenze. We were suffocating because of the heat in the room. The hotel turns off the cooling system in winter (even though we are basically still in the fall season); but the heating system was on. Our baby and we were overheating and weren't able to sleep all night, especially that overheating puts the baby at risk. We complained about it, and the hotel provided us with a fan and turned off the heating in the room. This didn't fix the problem, but it was better than the sauna we had experienced. To make matters worse, they joined 2 twin beds together to provide us with the "king bed" that we requested. We were feeling the gap between the beds all the time, which also didn't make the bed comfortable. Another issue was the Wi-Fi connection. It disconnects very often and is really slow. We didn't expect this to happen at such a luxurious hotel. Lastly, the breakfast buffet was very limited in terms of food offering. We were not able to feed our infant every day due to the limited options we had (which aren't safe for an infant in terms of texture and/or consumption). The buffet offered the same foods every day. The tables were kept dirty even when we finished our plates. The waiters didn't ask if they could offer the baby any specific food and didn't seem to care. We were cleaning up after our baby, and no one bothered to help. The service isn't really welcoming to be honest, but whatever options they had were tasty. We skipped breakfast twice as we didn't think it was worth it. This definitely didn't make our stay memorable, but rather more frustrating with the heating and Wi-Fi problems. As we were checking out, no one even bothered to ask us how our stay was, even though we stayed for 5 nights.

B9823FBbarbarac (8/5): Great Location. - Hotel is located in a great area in the Piazza Santa Maria Novella, area. The rooftop view in this hotel is stupendous. The rooms are a bit smaller than anticipated and the bathrooms have an odd configuration well at least the one we had, tub with a half glass in closure and hand held shower head. The beds were not very comfortable as were the pillows. When we checked out after our 3 day stay we mentioned how uncomfortable the beds and pillows were is when they informed us that they could provide other bedding amenities, lol which would’ve been nice to know when we had called on day 1 to ask for more comfortable pillows! Other than that the stay was great and felt needed to mention to request more comfortable bedding if you should stay there.

Sarah (6/5): - We stayed at Grand Hotel Minerva for three nights during our honeymoon to explore Florence for the first time. The hotel was in a great location - walking distance to all the main attractions, close to the train station for easy travel, but still quiet and peaceful. The hotel kindly provided biscotti as a treat for this being part of our honeymoon. The hotel was clean and the view from the rooftop was beautiful. However the breakfast wasn’t great, and the food and drink on offer at the hotel was extortionate. For example, 15€ for a 330mL Peroni, with cocktails over 20€ each. This is particularly frustrating after paying so much money to stay there in the first place. One of the reasons we booked the hotel was due to the rooftop pool, but unfortunately on the hot day we went to use it, we found it to be extremely cold and therefore barely in use. It would have been nice to relax on the rooftop but without racking up a huge drinks bill, this unfortunately wasn’t possible as outside food and drink can’t be consumed there either. Overall we would recommend looking elsewhere for better value for money. With Florence being a relatively small city, there are lots of other places to choose from that would still be well located for the main attractions.

Regis (10/5): Live the dream in this hotel even if it’s a short stay. - The hotel was so spacious. The staff were fantastic. The lounge areas were spacious and respectful of privacy. My bedroom was extremely comfortable and stylish with ample space and great view of the SM Novella. The dinning area was EXQUISITE and choice of food was generous. Lounge areas, rooftop swimming pool, bedroom and dining area. All this was enhanced by the friendly staff.

Initially, our check-in experience was less than positive. We arrived early and asked if we could use the rooftop pool area, but the reception team were not very friendly. We were told it would be too busy, yet when we finally checked in, the rooftop was actually empty. The pool area itself is quite small, and there are no sun loungers, so it’s not ideal if you’re hoping to relax in the sun. Update: The team has since been very accommodating. On check-out, they kindly allowed us to stay by the pool longer and even offered us a complimentary drink as a gesture of goodwill. They also recognised that they had fallen short of their usual standards, which we appreciated. By the end of our stay, we did feel that this is a prestigious hotel that values its guests, and the positive follow-up left us with a much better impression overall.

tanyaj933 (6/5): Perfect location, wonderful staff but uncomfortable beds and disappointing breakfast - The hotel is in a fabulous position. Everything is within walking distance. The hotel staff were all friendly and helpful and could not have done enough to help find my daughter's teddy which had been bundled up and taken to the laundry with the sheets. We booked it for the pool which I loved after a day of wandering the streets - it was the end of August and beginning of September and I wanted one last blast of sunshine before the autumn begins in earnest. The pool has a fantastic view over the city. However, the beds are very hard and the pillows are flat (and pretty hard too) - so maybe bring your own pillows. Not sure what I would suggest about the hard mattresses. We were also disappointed in breakfast so much so that we ended up going out for it. The pastries/pancakes didn't taste like they had been made fresh on site and the sausages were anaemic. On the plus side the bacon was crispy.

Le petit dej sans jus d’orange frais extra charge à 10€ et extra charge œufs à 12€ très décevant pour un hôtel 4 étoiles avec des prix aussi chers autant aller dans un 5* au même prix avec de vrais services …
