Guest Reviews
- Michael (8/5): - Wasn’t sure what to think when I first arrived because the room carpeting and furniture were straight out of the 1920’s. But after a few days the place really grew on me. I could sense the Italian/European charm and decided I really liked this hotel.
The room was clean. Staff was top notch. Shopping, food, anything, was just steps out your front door.
2-minute walk to San Marco Square.
Very convenient for everything.
- Francisco (10/5): - great place
- Dean (8/5): - Good location
- Juan (6/5): Great location and employees, poor physical state. - The employees are great, always trying to serve and help. The location was also great, near the St. Mark’s Square and walkable to many places. The problem is the hotel is very old and needs repairs. When we arrived, there was another guest complaining that the air conditioning in his room didn’t work. We arrived early, so we left our baggage’s there. When we came back in the late in the afternoon, the room was ready. Everything was ok, but somebody forgot to check the toilet. First time we tried to use it, it didn’t work. An employee tried to fix it, but couldn’t and couldn’t get the new pieces at that hour. They put us in another room, but it was little, the carpets were on their last breath, the bathroom was very little, including the toilet, and I had to ask for a sheet and for blankets (the blankets I didn’t get because it was late, so it was said to me). The front desk has limited hours. After 9:00, if you need something, you have to go to another hotel of the same owners to ask for it.
- Lucy (8/5): - Great location to explore Venice
- Amanda (8/5): - The location of the hotel is amazing as you are literally around the corner and over a small bridge from Piazza San Marco. We arrived late on Friday after a plane delay and they were able to check us in with no problems. We even had a balcony which was an unexpected surprise and was nice to get some drinks from the supermarket across the street and sit out there in the late evening. We did leave our key with reception and they couldn't find it for about 20 minutes and key accusing us of having lost it or locking it in the room. They finally found it but it was a bit unnerving when we followed the procedure on what to do from the receptionist the night before. Also the toilet had issues with flushing which we had also let reception know. It wasn't too big of an issue overall. But I would stay here again for the location and the price wasn't too bad - especially compared to the rest of Venice.
- Maria (6/5): - Hotel is in the heart of San Marco … easy to get to water taxi. Staff is nice and helpful but the hotel is old but clean .
- Fariborz (6/5): - Rooms were very old. windows open to a brick wall. very expensive. Definitely not worth the $300.00 per night.
- Anuj (6/5): - The property is small and quite dated. Good option if you just need a bed to rest at in night after a long day of travel. Location is quite good, next to St Mark's square and only 1 bridge to cross from San marco ferry stop. Select the place for location, no other reason.
- cherrie (10/5): - Near the San Marcos and Rialto bridge. Excellent customer service. They let us leave our luggage so we can still go around the area after we checked out. Will come back again.
- Enkela (4/5): - Property location was great , the hotel itself left a lot to desire . Room was small and carpet was dirty.
- Peter (8/5): - It met our needs and the staff were great.
- Filomena (6/5): - The property requires renovations as the rooms are old and dated. The carpeting definitely needs to be replaced. The staff was very friendly, helpful and tried their best to address any issues that arose.
- Stephanie Viegas (10/5): - Staff were very friendly and helpful. The air conditionung worked great and the beds were comfortable. Close to many dining options and St Marcos. Room was vintage charming and in good condition. It was also very specious and worked well for a family.
- Jenny (8/5): - The staff were amazing. The hotel is nice but old.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Stay only if desperate!! - Although this was a lovely location in Venice, be warned about the cleanliness in your room! It smelled musty and there was actual MOLD on the bathroom door handle. We tried cleaning it off ourselves but the disinfectant spray as well as wipes didn’t work either. This is an ok place if you are tight on a budget or there is no other option.
The staff was friendly when we arrived, and offered tours as well as other recommendations during our stay. This is an ok place if you are tight on a budget or there is no other option.
- Khamit (8/5): - The hotel is small so you can imagine the room .
Its located in a great place, close to Doge palace only 2 to 3 min away .
The hotel is surrounded by many restaurants and shops.
Staff are amazing and helpful.
The only things missing in the room is the coffee machine at least provide heater to make coffee or tea.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Tired but close to where you want to be - Good location, no WiFi in our area of the building despite staff saying they would look into it during our 3 day stay.
Very tired room, location was good however
- John (8/5): - The staff is WONDERFUL!!! Friendly. Helpful. The location was near everything you would need. The room was small. Very small but the location and staff made up for it. Really great location for first timers to Venice.
- SONIA (10/5): - Best location and friendly staff
- Jessica (10/5): - Great location
- Julie (10/5): - This is perfect location! We walked all over Venice! The hotel is old but clean and convenient
- Alexandra (10/5): - Nice place and nice staff.
- Philip (8/5): - The only things wrong was rooms where way to hot(for us) it was february and a tired looking, but staff were great and got a good sleep. Would definitely recommend 😁
- Alex (8/5): - Nice place to stay and would again staff are super nice and helpful. Super close to St Mark's Square so and also quick to get to Rialto bridge area. Bed was nice but we like a firm bed. Downsides are can hear other rooms/doors and looking a little tired in the room we stayed in. Wifi was hit and miss in the room but 4G is fine. Bathroom is very compact but useable.
- J (6/5): Nice on the whole - nice comfortable rooms, the staff is great , close to san marcos, on the whole good- though do not expect coffee maker, microwave or iron to press your clothes- rooms are ok though for italian standards !
- Randy (10/5): - Great location , older but clean and comfortable. Staff are very friendly and helpul.
- javier (10/5): - staff was very nice to us, the only thing i would suggest for improvement would be they replace their carpet
- Celina (10/5): Central location right next to the Piazza! - Wonderful front desk and great location!
- Mary (8/5): - The hotel staff was very kind, helpful, and professional when we checked in. Our room was a little smaller than we had planned on despite checking the room. The hotel staff made such a nice gesture to change our accomodations since they were able to, which was kind and we appreciated very much.
- sofia (8/5): - Excellent location! A little dated but clean and functional.
- Jorge Cesar (8/5): - Excellent
- Enas (10/5): - The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly . Location was a couple of minutes to St Mark's square.
- Andre (10/5): - close to everything
- Rosalinda (10/5): - Staff was great, very helpful, and was always so polite
- Idanesha (8/5): - Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with my partner. The hotel was very convenient and in walking distance to the Main square, Basilica and all the other attractions. Restaurants were nearby which made everything easy. Overall our stay was great and we enjoyed it.
- Susan (8/5): - Took me a while to find but when I did it was really close to St Marks and the sights I wanted to see.
- Valdir (8/5): Basic but good. - The hotel is good, very basic but with nice front desk and H/K staff. My room was at the back, and did not have much privacy, as well the news at the back was quite messy. I feel the room small for 2 adults , but it is Veneza, could not expect more. Lorenzo from front desk is a great asset to the property.
- Melissa (10/5): - Everything was awesome. We forgot our watch there (it is very important for us, cause it is from our late brother), and the friendly employee (Mrs. Laura) contact us immediately and they now shipping the watch to Germany.
so: great hotel, great location, super clean, great staff!
so, thank you dear Hotel ambassador - Team!
- Adrienne (6/5): - Really run down room, walls were dirty looked like water damage. Convenient location, nice staff
- Ying (10/5): - Very good location, steps away from San Marco square
- Daniel (10/5): - This property is right next to the main square and it is very convenient. I recommend taking the water bus to get here or a water taxi because the there are a lot of stairs and bridges from here to the station. The room itself is a bit dingy looking but the location is prime
- Ariel (10/5): - Great Location. Close to everything.
- Agata (8/5): - Fantastic location, clean and comfortable. Only minuses- slight smell of damp in the room and generally poor Wi-Fi.
- Guillermina (10/5): Great location - Great location. Amazing courteous and professional multi-lingual staff.
- Elena (8/5): - Great location, the rooms was beautifully decorated, the only down side was the bathroom being very small and after shower slightly smelly, but wouldn’t be a deal breaker I would for sure come back. We had an economy room and quite happy with it
- Bethan (6/5): - Excellent location! A 5 minute walk to the waterbus and a minute walk to St Mark’s Square! The first room they gave me was horrible! It was very spacious however the bathroom was not a bathroom! It was a toilet inside the shower and then the sink inside the bedroom! I complained and the staff were more than happy to move us to a different room the following morning - room was a lot smaller but it had an actual bathroom so I was happy. Would stay again purely for the location.
- Rosalind (4/5): - The breakfast was quite good. The room was okay the bathroom terrible. Nothing like the pictures and very smelly.
- Ama (10/5): - Great location. Neat facility. Breakfast is extra.
- Sandro (6/5): - A very old and need some improvement specifically on the elevators they should have a breakfast to all the customers
The money was bot worth it.
- Rosa (10/5): - .
- Eun Jeong (4/5): - Despite it has a lift in the property, do not be fooled.
We had 7 sets of mini stairs to get to our room located in level 5, once we reached the level 4, which was the top floor with the lift. So many hidden stairs to reach to your room.
The room was not the cleanest and from toilet and room, I saw so many ants and spiders, which freaked me out a lot.
The location was extremely great as to reach out to San Marco, it literally took 1-2min max from the door of the room.
- Tyson (2/5): Not a great experience - They tried kicking my wife out of the hotel restaurant while she was waiting for me to come down from the room. They provided the services they claimed were included only upon request. Free coffee and tea was a safety hazard as they provide plastic cups that worp under heat.
- Bismara (8/5): Excellent location - Excellent service, excellent location, comfortable.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Worst property I’ve ever stayed at. I would avoid this hotel at all costs
- Kerry (10/5): - Location was perfect. Super close to plaza san marco and all the excitement of Venice. Staff very friendly and spoke English. Breakfast is a great deal if you want to take advantage of. Great places to eat within steps from the hotel.
Would go back with no hesitations.
- Cristina (8/5): - Clean and conveniently located. Usually quiet except for when you have heavy-footed neighbors in the room above. Maybe better noise insulation, if possible?
- Anika (10/5): - The location is excellent. The staff at the reception was really helpful.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - What was unique was the size of the room
It was for midgets
Awful Awful Awful
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location was not convenient; espetially with the luggage.
- Ghada (2/5): Bad hotel & air conditioning didn’t work! - Very bad service, the staff were not friendly and not welcoming! Air conditioner didn’t work and room was so hot more than 30 degrees. We asked to change the room or repair the air conditioner but they didn’t do anything! The worst experience I ever had!
They gave us just a fan after I asked them many times!
- Eric (10/5): - The hotel was located perfectly! It was within a 2 min walk to the San Marco Square as well as prime shipping and restaurants! The staff was wonderful and we enjoyed our stay!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This hotel is very centrally located with plenty going on right on the doorstep. The rooms are fairly basic but clean and the air conditioning is a bonus in the summer months. Our room was quite small, with no natural light from the small window looking out to the back of neighbouring buildings. The mattress could do with being renewed, it was well worn and misshapen.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff is outstanding. They are professional, helpful with any requests and on duty 24 hours a day. The porter brings your luggage to the room.
The rooms are extremely clean. The beds are very comfortable and the shower and towels are wonderful. There is an elevator to all 4 floors.
The continental breakfast is fresh and delicious. It includes 3 meats, cheese, breads, pastries, yogurt, fruits, coffee, tea, juice and milk.
The location is just a few steps from Plazza San Marco and there are fantastic restaurants surrounding the area.
We will definitely stay at the Ambassador Tre Rose again and would highly recommend it to anyone thinking of vacationing in Venice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location excelent all the people working in very polite maybe the room need renovation
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location was excellent. Right next to St Marks Square. The bathroom, though tiny, had an excellent shower. The room could be made bigger by not having a wardrobe in it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very well located, but it will be better if counter where in the same building instead of other, all most next door.
- Lily (10/5): - the front staff is very courteous and helpful and do not try to upsell you any tours or events. They assist if requested and will hold baggage for stay from stay to stay as we return every week for three weeks different dates. Elevator and few stairs - good or seniors. The only amenity not provided is a hot water or coffee maker - no tea or coffee in the room but the mini fridge is fully stocked and there was no list of costs - but it is probably the usual. There is a restaurant downstairs so I assume that you must purchase tea or coffee downstairs. Breakfast is reasonable extra cost but they do not make scrambled eggs or boiled eggs - it was a pancake omelet -
it is a Continental Scandinavian style breakfast - juice, croissants and coffee and cold cuts. It is a very safe and super convenient location - walk over the short bridge to San Marco Piazza and the little shops actually have things costing less (nearly 50% less than the shops in the Piazza San Marco or Rialto
- Verified traveler (10/5): - it is a fantastic convenient location, one bridge away -
helpful staff. Room is older style but this is older Venice
no coffee maker or hot water pot for tea/coffee
bkfst good continental with deli meat but no scrambled eggs
- Shahid (8/5): - Good
- Virginia (10/5): Upgraded! - We were 3 friends traveling together and needed three separate twin beds. At first the room was very small with the three beds taking up the entire space with no room to layout a suitcase. The staff was VERY accommodating and upgraded us to an apartment with two bedrooms and sitting room with plenty of space to move around as well as a small area outside the bathroom to blow dry hair and to put on make-up if the bathroom was occupied! If we would have stayed in the first room - it would have been a bit uncomfortable.
- Sergio (10/5): Location location location!!!! - If you want a budget hotel that's VERY comfortable and located as close to St. Mark's square as you could possibly get stay here! My very economical room with bath must have recently been remodeled because it seemed fresh and clean and even had a terrace. When I'm in Venice, and I come once a year, I always try to stay here. Very good inexpensive buffet breakfast next door. I've been tempted to try another hotel but instead always come back here. For the price you can't beat it, and touring Venice is all about location and walking distances. I really like this place.
- Joseph James Brian (6/5): Hotel For Those Who Like To Be Up Very Close ! - Hotel perfect location at 100 metres from St Marks Square. Room unfortunately designed for very small people ! Space minimal in the extreme .Web photo is therefore misleading .Receptionist told about bedroom lamp not functioning but nothing done . No telephone or tea/coffee facilities in room which is standard today.Hotel gets away with all this because of its location .Expensive for what you get.
- Evelyn (8/5): Fantastic location - Fantastic location for all the main sights and water taxi. Good continental cold buffet breakfast.
- SteveL (8/5): - Nice hotel close to centre, excellent service, breakfast good, rooms clean but small. Ideal for a short stay
- Willy (4/5): - Hotel clerk not friendly, room's air conditioner was not working, after second phone call oscillating fan was delivered.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not the best experience - This hotel doesn’t actually have 24/7 check in. The hotel ‘around the corner’ does and you have to check in there ‘after hours’. This is not told to you however, so when we arrived at 11:30pm we were locked out and had to find the other hotel ‘around the corner’ (is Venice that could be numerous different directions) and check in there. The staff were rude.
- Win (6/5): Good location but dont expect anything else other - There is no reception at this hotel. The reception is on the other hotel next door at Hotel San Marco. I asked the front desk if we can stay for one more night. He said theres nothing available everything is sold out. Only one room left which is more expensive (double the price) not the economy one so we didnt bother. When we got to our room I checked expedia and booked there is still available for economy. He just wanta us to pay for the expensive one.
The condition of the room is old and it has that smell from old hotel. If you're a normal size north american person, you wont fit in the economy room. The washroom is too small and the sink is outside.
This hotel is good for the location because everything is just steps away. St Marks Square is just few steps away. Rialto station is less than 10mins walk. You can pretty much walk everywhere. If you only need a place to sleep on you're good to go.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location of the hotel is good ! But the Service is totally disappointed, we have booked a suit but the room was super tiny, can even fit for 1 people and I cannot open luggage in the room , not to mention I have 2 people. We paid more than 100 Euro for the room and we asked a change of the room, finally we got it change, and they arranged a roof top room to us, the roof was low, and the hot water in the shower was not working at all! We asked staff to come fix it, but they said they didn’t receive other customers compaint about the hot water, so they just don’t care ! And ignored us !
- Verified traveler (8/5): Anniversary celebration in Venice - The hotel was really cosy! Just right for our short stay! :) The staff were friendly and helpful too. The signing in at another building was a little confusing but apart from that all good and no complaints!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It is what I would expect for a 3-star hotel. I was given the room right at the staircase end but forntunately it was not noisy. The bedding and decor was quite old so it gives an impression of not so clean.
- Stephen (10/5): Venice!! San Marco - San Marco was amazing literally with no car fumes at all, just water transportation
- Naomi (4/5): Location was prime but HUGE ripoff. AVOID. - Checked in around 8pm, had a fellow guide us around the corner from the hotel to another front desk. Check in agent was a bit stern but nice. Went back to our building and immediately noticed the old wear of the carpet on the stairs. Found our room and was hit by awful smell of rot/mildew or just the stench of old Venice. Very revolting. However, we opened both windows and kept them open the duration, plus with AC on had the smell reduced to minimal levels within a day. Wifi worked, first location out of 3 (Rome and Florence did not have it). Bathroom was small and shower was just a curtain dividing the shower area from the rest of the bathroom. TV had audio/video issues of not being synced up properly, so basically pointless (we kept it on music videos because of it). Location was prime, literally 1 minute walk to the main square. They advertised some $7 euro breakfast downstairs, did not find location. Could have been in the other building. Noise is a problem at night with drunken/loud tourists in the alley below. Building needs a major overhaul. Won't stay there again, considering the price. It was the more expensive than our hotels in Rome, Florence and Milan combined and nearly the same price we paid per night at Lake Como. If this place was a dive in some small US town you'd avoid like the plague and think someone died there.
- J (2/5): Good Location, Terrible Accomdations - Initially when you go to check in they run you over to another hotel to check in. Upon check in we were informed that breakfast was not included, which was fine. The room is tiny, no view and a bathroom that can barely fit one person. All of the staff that we came into contact with from check in to check out was incredibly rude and not accommodating in the least bit. There really isn’t a person available for questions or anything as the main desk is in another hotel down the street. Upon check out we received our bill for bed and breakfast when we did not have breakfast a single morning there. All in all, skip over and find another property.
- Maria (4/5): hard to find hotel, but mins away from the square - Room was extra small, there was a chair in the corner but was not accessible as it was blocked by the unmovable side table, very cramped for 2 people and 2 suitcases.
Lighting in the bathroom was horrible.
No ac in the room which is not unusual in Europe
There was a small fridge
- Cenide (8/5): Nice Hotel, Near to de St Mark's Square. - Very friendly staff. Clean, quiet and near to transport and St. Mark's Square.
- Federico (6/5): The only good thing is the location. - The room is very small, it had a funky smell when we walked in, we had to open the windows to air the room. Fortunately the smell was gone within a day. There was leak from the air conditioner into our bed.
The walls were dirty and the décor of the room is terrible, everything looks old.
- olivia (6/5): Good location.... once we found it. - Very hard to find. The address listed did not seem to taking us to the right place. Room was fine, clean etc. Good place if you are just looking for a room to crash on the island. Wifi was not good.
- Kim and Pat (10/5): Venice - When we arrived reception took us around to their other building the San Marco hotel. When we opened the room it smelt musty but after I opened the windows the smell went away. The room had a nice view of people walking on the footpath down below and the bathroom was newly refurbished. The thick glass in the windows also stopped the outside noise and the location was so close to the Piazza we were really happy. It had a safe, free wifi and nice clean sheets.
- Hermina (10/5): Wonderful time - Very pleasant. Friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (4/5): The only good thing it's close to point of interes - For single traveler w a budget ok not for romantic get away
- Muhibba (4/5): Mosquito bites and AC saving - We checked in past 3am as we arrived late due to delays. Check in was swift even though I forgot to add the additional night so we had to pay £190 for an extra night which I suppose is standard so can't complain about that. The room was very small but again I suppose because it was so close to the centre I wasn't expecting a luxurious hotel and space. What I wasn't happy about was that even though the room was roasting us alive, the hotel staff said they would not turn on the air conditioning. The room was hot and stuffy, not pleasant at all. When I spoke to the reception, they said it's not the season to turn it on but I can open windows. So I did that at night and was woken up at 3am by mosquitoes. My husband and I spent half an hour at night trying to kill mosquitoes, we got 7 out of the 8 in the room so the next night we were bitten again. I would not recommend to go during the seasons they don't turn on the AC
- Cecilia (8/5): primely located - Enjoyed our stay. Good service
- Hezi (8/5): very good - nice hotel
- Regan (8/5): Great hotel but poor wifi - Great place and friendly staff and enjoyed it however the hotel wifi is the worst in the world I think a GPRS connection on mobile is faster and that was very disappointing other wise it's a great property and with accessibility to all places.
- Edwin (8/5): Great location, easy access, great value! - Location is great, literally next door to San Marco square. Once you get off the water bus, and with a little homework on the map, you shouldn't have to pay a porter. They'll take you for a ride. This is a 10-minute walk through the square and a few steps on a small bridge. There's an elevator available inside.
The hotel has 2 entrances with different names (Tre Rose and San Marco).
Staff is there 24 hours and they're very professional and helpful. They speak English very well, which is common now in Italy, especially among young people.
There's a separate charge for breakfast but it's an **outstanding** value.
Rooms may be noisy as they often open up onto the street. I don't mind this at all as I find it charming.
Bathroom was large and clean and the room was clean, with a clean and comfortable bed. Safe, mini fridge and toiletries are provided.
The only negative is the patchy wifi which is not very reliable in all parts of the building. But there's a computer and a printer in the lobby also with better service.
Overall, a great value. I was very satisfied. I would stay there again and would recommend this location.
- sarita (8/5): 2 minute walk to st. Mark's square - Close to most major attractions. Hotel room was acceptable. We stayed in september and the room was cold but they had no blankets or quilts. Shower was very small but had nice hot water and modern faucets.
- Joe (4/5): Avoid if possible - The only thing good about this hotel is the proximity to San Marco. One of the smallest rooms I've ever stayed in and the bed and pillows were extremely uncomfortable. The air conditioner was unusable at night as it sounded like a lawnmower and the room overwhelmingly smelled like a mix of cheap cologne and cleaning chemicals. Staff was nice though and the 7 EUR breakfast wasn't too bad. Just know you're paying for the location and not much else.
- rhonda (2/5): Disgusting hotel but you get what you pay for - The room was simply disgusting & unsanitary to stay in. Had a reaking stench to it and bugs everywhere in the little cubicle of a room. No space to walk in room- very claustrophobic. Toilette and shower were combined and water did not drain so take a QUICK shower.
