- DMITRY (4/5): Survival mode at the lowest price in the city center. - It’s right in the city center — very convenient to get anywhere. And it’s very cheap, much cheaper than any other options. Plus, there’s always stable hot water. It’s in the heart of Raval, surrounded by drug dealing, shady people, and other questionable neighbors. The room basically has no windows, very low ceilings, and everything feels extremely worn out. There’s no mobile signal inside the apartment, and the Wi-Fi is often terribly slow. It’s also damp.
- Olivier (7/5): -
- Anissa (9/5): Super bien je recommande à 100% - Super sympa pas loin des Ramblas La rue qui est un peu sombre
- Mohammed (8/5): Very good -
- Jekaterina (6/5): Pleasant - The apartment is almost in the center of the city, but in an area where there is little local residents. Convenient to get to the metro station 5 minutes, if you want to walk, you can walk to different places (20 minutes to Plaza Catalunya). The apartments are on the second floor, go up a narrow staircase. What happens on the street is almost not heard, because the windows overlook somewhere inside the courtyard and at a distance of a meter is the house opposite. There is not bad Wifi, but be prepared that you can watch TV only through your smartphone (youtube).
We were met by a quite sociable and positive girl, told us the details of check-in, and gave a little information about the city (what places are better to visit). The disadvantages are that the neighbors are very audible and when they are walking in their room, you get the impression that they are walking outside your door. The front door was very thin, the same as between the rooms or bathroom. There are windows in the room, but they are of no use because all you can see through them is the stone wall of the house opposite. The towel is one big towel per person, I think they could add an extra small one for washing. With an electric kettle and we did not manage to figure out, and the state of it was such that it is better not to heat water there. We had to use an electric stove.
But the biggest minus is the cockroaches, they are everywhere in the kitchen, sometimes in the bathroom. The first time we opened the fork drawer and were surprised. The next day they were crawling all over the table, sink, floor. We came back every time and wondered where they could still be. We had to hide the food and the only salvation was the refrigerator, where the cockroaches could not reach.
- Sourav (8/5): A good apartment at the center of Barcelona - The location is really good. This is very close to La Rambla. Moreover it is not that far from a metro station. The kitchen facilities were good. Communication with the management was more or less smooth. The position of the windows was very bad. Even with bright sunlight, you will not have a clue about how sunny it is outside.
- Soto (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was good. I loved it
- Solic (9/5): Superb - All of it
- Jamal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aleksandra (4/5): Wouldn’t come back. - The only thing we liked about the property is that it had a hair dryer and the girl that welcomed us was really polite. First of all the location of this studio is different than the location mentioned while booking. It turned out to be in a really shady district so you couldn’t really go out or come home at dark. That’s unfortunate because you choose where to stay based on your location preferences.
The studio itself wasn’t really clean, the floor was dirty and there were dirt spots on the carpet and sofa. There was an awful smell, which we couldn’t even get rid of, maybe because the studio is actually situated in a basement and the window wouldn’t open. Even if it did open it wouldn’t still be okay because of the really shady and scary district the studio is in. There were cockroaches crawling on the tables and walls also.
The mattress on the bed was so old and overused that you couldn’t sleep normally and you couldn’t even turn around because of the holes in it.
The “bathroom” as it’s called was so tiny you couldn’t even turn around and because of the basement situation there was a really loud pump responsible for water draining which wasn’t really doing well as you have to stop the water while showering every 1 minute or it will spill into the kitchen.
And after literally having to run home every night being chased by the homeless people living in the same street I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone!
- Ben (9/5): Superb -
- Amplenan (7/5): Good - Nice apartment it was a completely different apartment on a different location to our booking?
- Uzaid (9/5): Superb -
- Jesse (8/5): Good hostel, but nothing amazing. - Pretty standard hostel, had everything you needed, staff are nice, place was clean enough. Can’t complain for the money. Showers were a little bit average
- Дорина (8/5): great experience for this money. would recommend - a big thank you to Angela for her hospitality, she gave some tips what to do and where to go in Barcelona and was very nice.
The location is amazing, everything is just in a walking distance to all the attractions and the city.
Had a great experience over all! would be great to have a few more towels in the apartment. Pretty busy location, there is a construction close to and can be a bit loud
- Maria (8/5): Welcoming and easy going place - Staff very friendly and helpful, 24hs reception, plenty of bathrooms and toilets, luggage storage. Great location close to restaurants, markets and petrol stations. Next to a busy street but quiet. You can use the kitchen and it has a cool terrace It could have curtains in beds, but overall it was really good. You can’t use the kitchen and terrace 24 hs
- Nerijus (7/5): Good -
- Gabriel (6/5): Comfy place in a vibrant neighbourhood - Cosy, comfortable place in a good enough area. The place was clean and everything that we needed worked fine. The check in process can be enhanced - I was told that we could check in late at no additional cost, and the day I was checking in, the person in charged attempted to charge me.
They've also insisted on paying for the city tax in cash, which we never carry (remember COVID?) - I suggested that I pay at their hostel reception the following day, but they insisted with an international transfer. The said transfer took about 24 hours to go through, in which time I was chased by WhatsApp and almost accused of not paying. Not the best experience in the world, to be honest. I could have picked the Ibis for the same price and 24 hour reception, if checking in was an issue at the late time that we arrived.
- Trenay (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ramon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tomás (3/5): Poor - The people that work there are definitely the best part, always available the room always smelled bad, from humidity and pipes. The bathroom was horrible, since whenever we showered some water came to the bedroom and worse, in order to sit on the toilet we needed to have our foot ont the bathtub.
- Kirsty (4/5): Disappointing - The location, the amenities, it was a perfect base for while we were there The toilet kept running after every flush.
- Natalia (7/5): For one night was ok..not again though - The location. I was given a lock and key and was able to rent a big towel which was nice It was nothing like the photos. I also booked a girl only room and there was 1 boy there…you would think “oh not a big deal” but I booked a GIRL ONLY room.
The doors to the rooms looked like someone forced it open. The door handles in the toilets/showers where very loose. Everything needs some handyman to come and fix.
I have stayed in better places for the same price.
The lady in reception was coughing a lot which made me uncomfortable. And so many rules for just a room…

- John (1/5): Worst place ever stayed at. - Nothing This applies to Studio advertised as 14 Rambla del Raval not the hostel.
Location not as described. Neighbourhood full of down and outs. Police raided area while we were there. Address on booking.com site not the actual address which was down a dirty side street with a building site less than 3 metres from the only window in studio. Window was not glazed so no sound protection at all. Noise intolerable from 8 am but also bad rest of time. Poor grubby bedding. Found cockroaches in cutlery draw! A terrible place not fit to be on booking.com site. Moved out after 3 nights and had to pay £400 for hotel to finish holiday. Tried to complain via email/ messaging but got no reply.
Would not want anyone else to experience this place. Shocking!
Photos taken off Google earth. Shows studio window ( no glazing) facing onto what is currently an active building site.
- Ellen (10/5): Wonderful and welcoming - Staff were excellent, communal facilities great. 24hr reception excellent for solo travellers Beds dangerous to get down from
- Hannah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Benjamin (9/5): Nice staff , good location, nice place - I didn't know there was breakfast
- Zsofia (7/5): Not the greatest but okey - The location was close to La Rambla so most things were accessible by foot. But the area was a bit shady, with lot of police cars and junkies.
Zero sunlight in the room but we knew that from the beginning.
- Abdelhafid (4/5): Disappointing -
- Mohammed (7/5): It was great holiday. -
- Muhammad (7/5): Good -
- Franco (7/5): Good - Position is very very good and staff is nice and friendly. Overall I would recommend it Pictures look better than what it is, it would need some works to look better. With some nice refit it could be a jewel.
- Lavenant (8/5): Very good - Wonderful time spent there, great location for the price. The staff was really nice and friendly. A bit of a shame for the bed that make a lot of noise especially the locker under the lower bed.
- Luca (8/5): Very good -
- Christiane (7/5): Good -
- Marta (10/5): this is the place :) - The place is extremely cool. Pure fun. I felt welcomed, instantly tuned into the local vibe. Hostel is spacy, nicely arranged, clean, full of people you really want to be around, accustomed to socialising and not disturbing at all. The spot is close to cool tapas bars. It was weekend and full events going outside and despite noise it felt just great, as a part of travelling experience. The hostel crew was extremely helpful, chatty and understanding. My thanks and greetings here :) Nothing really was wrong. One of the best hostels I remember to visit.
- Nada (9/5): Superb -
- Mounji (7/5): Good - It's OK When i was the hipstel reception they requested 12.50€ extra, so I didn't like it
- Singh (7/5): Good - The bed too noisy while someone or self change the direction during sleep... Bed must be better quality... The rest was good...
- Justo (8/5): Very good -
- Amaya (8/5): Very good -
- Amanda (6/5): Pleasant -
- Cossar (10/5): I stayed for 2 weeks, 10/10 for customer service. - Clean hostel. Amazing people, amazing customer service. Only one toilet per floor
- Sekerak (8/5): Very good -
- Ahmet (1/5): Unhelpful staff - good value and nice terrace They gave me a bed from top, AC was literally 3cm above my pillow and Cold air comes all over me.
Yeah its summer and there are bunch of people in the room and I am glad they have multiple AC in room. But literally freezing cold wave coming into my whole body.
I asked to change and there was a guy who told me we cannot close also we cannot give you another bed.
He came into our room 5 minutes later and clicked the AC and told me I turned off. then I ve realized he just turn volume down little. I asked them again but he wasnt there and there is another staff was standing. which he literally told me. I am so sorry but I cant do anything. The other one Left
Well definitely first staff told the second staff, dont do anything so I dont want to say anything for second one.
But it was my last night and I was going to stay a few hours due to early morning flights so ı tried to go hostel really late and I slept only one hour. and I dont exaggerate but my throat was hurting. Anyone who literally sleeping right below AC in Capsule bed will have bad experience.
So for the money, its a good value but be consistent to tell them not sleep that beds, which literally next to door.
- Dileep (10/5): Exceptional -
- Issac (1/5): Bad -
- Andreia (10/5): Very good location, close to everything. - Good location A little bit noisy.
- Dragana (4/5): Disappointing - This was not my first stay at Hipstel but it was my first double room facing the street stay. The only good thing about it was the bed. The incompetence of the staff was really surprising. The TV in my room wasn't working, and when I complained, the guy at the reception invented some excuse that the TV doesn't have channels and that it only serves as a screen to connect to a PC. Totally false as the TV actually does have channels but unsinced and I guess nobody bothered to set it up. In the end I couldn't use the Tv although advertised as a comodity in the room. So, that was in the night.
Then, in the early morning I, and not the girl at the reception or anyone else from this hostel, had to shout at the creep who was standing in front of the hostel having a loud loud loud conversation on his phone and thus waking the whole street up. No, the hostel receptionist was too uninterested in ensuring her guests' sleep.
Then, someone turns the TV on in the kitchen on high volume and leaves!! Who in the right mind does that in the morning?!
My room was right over that kitchen wall.
No, the hostel receptionist did not bother to lower the volume so that people could sleep.
I did work at hostels myself, so I do know both sides of the hostel business. I mean, I didn't even get the basics here. Shamefully, I had to pay it in advance, and the money was "unrefunded".
Overall, if she were my employee, I wouldn't bother having her on the premises any more.
I overpaid my room, so that I would end up not being able to have rest. Thank you, but you lost a previously satisfied guest.

- Hemn (1/5): You just stole my money when I went to the hotel, on the pretext that only females are allowed, they - You’re just stole my money when I went to the hotel, on the pretext that only females are allowed, they didn't let me in. This was the first time I've seen such a thing in my life Nothing
- Muhammad (8/5): Very good -
- Cedric (9/5): Satisfactorily suited my needs and great restaurants bars nearby. n - I liked the big kitchen and access to the terrace. Also a larger more private shower room was available. Friendly staff with 24 hour reception. Room was a tad small but I suppose that is to be expected in a hostel.
- Charleymo95 (10/5): Exceptional - My partner and I stayed in one of the studio apartments in El Raval. It was a beautiful apartment, perfect for 2 people and great location, just be careful going back at night but we had no issues. The actual hostel let us leave our bags there until our flight too. Nothing :)
- Umar (5/5): Passable - Good location, near to La Rambla street
- To (5/5): Passable -
- Jamie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Belen (6/5): Worth sleeping one day but too expensive for sharing big bedrooms - The staff are very friendly
Spacious kitchen
Very well located Bed very small without curtains which makes having very little privacy when in a massive shared room
- Giovanna (5/5): Passable -
- Diego (10/5): Exceptional - The location as it was close to several restaurants and bars NA
- Tayyab (10/5): Exceptional -
- Reeves (2/5): Disgraceful - The terrace Everything else. It has an awful shower and a just about acceptable bed for the night . Would recommend against booking if given more options.
- Berghmans (7/5): Good -
- Mohammed (1/5): Terrible - Nothing I m from morocco and they are so racist and i was stolen on the hostel

- Nowaczewski (7/5): Good -
- Isabel (8/5): Just what we wanted - The staff were really kinda and accommodating.
Very clean. It would be nice if there were privacy curtains on the top bunks
- Mikel (6/5): Pleasant -
- Regan (7/5): Good - Quite and fun. The pub crawl is very good No curtains of the beds, very open rooms.
- Jhancarla (7/5): Good - The staff was really helpful and replied fast to my email concerning my missing earpod.
My bunk bed had enough for my luggage and I liked that I could seat straight up. I did not expect that I had to rent a towel and that my bed sheets were not changed every day.
- Vanesa (8/5): Very good -
- Heather (8/5): Very good -
- Jones (10/5): Excellent hostel in heart of city near great food and bars. Super friendly staff. Great value for mo - Amazing location and super friendly staff.
- John (7/5): Good staying in Barça - Staff very welcoming and helpful.
Great location and well connected with public transport.
- Hannah (8/5): very good - i loved my stay! I stayed in the female only room. the beds were comfy and the privacy curtains were nice. plugs and light by each bed. i especially liked the upstairs terrace and hostel pub crawls as I made such nice friends through these. location isn't most central but it was easy to access attractions through metro or walking. the kitchen is also big, clean and well equipped. I would stay again :) the kitchen shuts at night, but it is understandable
- Sheila-olimpia (10/5): Exceptional - The balcony area
- Katherine (8/5): Very good -
- Cristiano (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zuzanna (8/5): I definitely recommend for anyone visiting Barcelona alone it's a perfect place to meet new friends. - The personnel was amazing, insanely kind and open people! I barely stayed in the hostel, but the few conversations I had with the personnel were great. I only hated the shower as it felt very claustrophobic and I felt like anyone could just barge in.
- Lofiego (5/5): Passable -
- Chloe (10/5): Incredible. - The location was on a good bus and metro route. The pub bar crawl organised was incredible. We met some amazing people. There was noise throughout the night however it all evened out since some people would get in late but others would leave early. Bathrooms were chill. The terrace amazing. the air-conditioning was good but not on super cold, so was a bit warm. It was a reasonable temperature at night outside but would hope the aircon is on stronger for the peak summer time.
- Marisa (6/5): Centric and affordable. - Location, friendly staff, cleanliness. Beds are not very comfortable and the bed curtains are hung a bit “half-assedly”, so privacy is questionable. Lockers make way too much noise (metallic) when people come in late or leave early, so few hours of good sleep.
- Ersen (7/5): Good - Night shift person is rude not helping or welcoming.
