Guest Reviews
- elisabetv876 (4/5): Hard mattress - Very hard beds
We paid for 3 people but they only had 2 single beds. They carried a folding mattress, which was extremely thin, into the room for our third person.
There is no kettle.
We strongly considered moving to a new hotel for the rest of our stay in Prague
- 699annamariak (2/5): Mismanagement, No Breakfast, No Refund! Be Cautious! - We stayed at Hotel Union in Prague from May 11–17, 2025 as part of an Erasmus+ school program with 10 underage students (11 years old) and 3 teachers.
The reservation had been made in January and included a clear written request for 3 student rooms and 3 single rooms for the teachers — all on the same floor, due to child protection and supervision regulations.
When we arrived, we were told the rooms were split across multiple floors. For two nights, the teacher rooms went unused, and teachers had to sleep in student rooms to ensure proper supervision.
To make matters worse, on the first morning we were informed that breakfast (prepaid 856 euro and part of our agreement) cannot be offered without any prior warning or arrangement. Our students had to attend school activities without eating.
As of today, no refund has been issued, and the hotel manager has never answered our calls or mails. We have filed official reports with the Prague Police and the Czech Trade Inspection Authority (ČOI), and are escalating the matter through the European Consumer Centre.
This experience caused serious disruption to a school program and placed both staff and minors in an unacceptable situation. Please take this into account when considering your booking.
- Tour07581022559 (8/5): Just what you need for a city break, not too fancy but also clean and well equipped - No issues throughout our stay. Tram line right outside with regular transport links to the centre. Not in a very busy area, but nice cafes/breakfast spots open. Beds were a little solid for my liking, but personal preference! Coffee machine was equipped daily, and towels could be restocked as you wished. Very clean and spacious room. Modern bathroom. Did not engage with staff often, but receptionist friendly on arrival and they kindly stored our cases for us after checkout in a secure area. Perfect for those needing a basic but reliable hotel close to the centre of Prague!
- Tafara (10/5): Good Centrally located hotel - Good hotel with a restaurant and professional staff
- Dreamer61135463120 (2/5): The worst experience - I stayed at Union Hotel for 7 nights, and it was without a doubt the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I cannot comprehend how this hotel is rated as 4 stars because it doesn’t meet even the most basic standards.
Room Issues:
From the start, we were given the wrong room, which had a dirty bathroom. After complaining, we were shown an even worse room before being moved to a slightly better one. However, the issues didn’t end there. The carpet in the room was never vacuumed during our entire stay, and the bathroom wall had dried residue from a previous guest’s toothbrush—evidence that it hadn’t been properly cleaned in months.
Amenities:
The Wi-Fi didn’t work at all, the TV was broken, and worst of all, the heating didn’t function. We spent the entire week freezing and ended up catching colds because of the unbearable conditions. When we spoke to the manager, they admitted that the heating was a problem throughout the hotel, but nothing was done to address it.
Cleaning Services:
The cleaning service was abysmal. They took our dirty coffee glasses but replaced them with new ones that were also dirty! Towels and sheets were often not replaced, and we had to keep asking for basic necessities like toilet paper. Only after contacting the booking platform did a housekeeper clean the room properly, but this happened just once in 7 days.
Special Requests:
I requested Prosecco and flowers for my friend’s birthday on December 2nd, and the staff assured me they would arrange it. Not only did they forget, but when I contacted the booking platform, they eventually delivered wine to the room—on December 6th, four days late.
Conclusion:
Union Hotel failed on every level. From unclean rooms and poorly maintained facilities to unprofessional service and complete disregard for guest comfort, this experience was a nightmare. I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel. It was a colossal disappointment and far from the relaxing vacation we had hoped for.
- A118UIgraceo (8/5): Great hotel - Lovely hotel with nice spacious room. Very clean bathroom also. Staff were friendly and held our bags for us even after we had checked out! Right next to a tram stop which is ideal for sightseeing, can also walk in to the city (25 mins) The sauna advertised is actually part of a spa package and separate to the hotel which we found out when we arrived.
- worldtrotter26 (8/5): Hotel just a tram stop - This hotel is within reach to everything. Price is on the budget. Ideal location with big rooms suited for your one to two days travel in Prague. The only bad thing is the water is sometimes out of order especially if you’re in the 5th floor. Don’t forget to try the massage underneath this hotel - the best one in the area. There’s a good restaurant besides the hotel. Staffs are helpful! You just need to pay 4 euro for city tax and no deposit of whatever!
- SlovakTraveller777 (6/5): Mixed impressions - The hotel has a good location opposite the tram stops and not far from the metro stop Vysehrad. Nevertheless it turns into disadvantage during the night because of noise from both trams and trains.
Breakfast is not included and there is no option to add it to the booking. (Though there is a café downstairs in the building, that offers coffee with croissant with something else for apprx. 200 czk).
Electric kettle wasnt in the room, despite the fact, that it was listed in the description of room equipment.
TV in our room didn´t work during our stay (2 nights). We immediately made a complain at the reception, nevertheless the problem wasn´t solved during our stay for some technical problems. Wifi had bad quality.
Cleanless was OK.
- 951ivap (2/5): That this unique hotel is still in business is beyond my understanding. - I cancelled my booking for total lack of communication. Impossible to call the reception. The only tool available is "casova schranka" a voice box that greets only in Czech and doesn't indicate the name of the hotel. If you leave a message regardless, no one answers it. Emails are ignored two times and answered the third time with total misunderstanding of the issue.
- LUN (8/5): - clean and quite environment
- Torsten (6/5): - Unterkunft Personal ok, Unterkunft hat ein Abwasserproblem es riecht überall eher unangenehm aus den Abwasserabläufen,
Fenster sind schalldicht im Herbst war es kein Problem,
- 689padraicl (8/5): A lovely quiet hotel within easy reach of all the hustle and bustle you could possibly need. - This property is located just 6 tram stops and a 5 minute walk from The Olr Town Square. The area is a lot quieter than in and around the square but still has bars, cafes and takeaways within walking distance.
The rooms were clean, with cleaners coming in each day. The bathroom was a bit on the small side but for showering and brushing your teeth how much room do you need.
For those wishing to avoid the late night noises of a very busy city centre this is an ideal choice, and less than 30 minutes from the airport via taxi/uber/bolt.
- Nomad42185055148 (8/5): Ignore the fake compo seeking reviews - After reading some of the reviews, we were a bit worried about this hotel. However, after staying there, we were very relieved to find that some of them are obviously fake (there are no bugs, mould or spiders. free breakfast has never been on offer either, so the couple complaining that they didn't get it are scamming) It's a traditional, early 1900s building, very comfortable accommodation, our room slept 3, with plenty of space. Staff were lovely, very pleasant, friendly attitude and helpful with all our queries. The attached, independently run restaurant has erratic opening hours but well worth a visit, the food is gorgeous! The only criticism I have is that there was no tea/coffee making facilties in the rooms, it's in the foyer.
- H7767OLianl (6/5): Not 4 star. Maybe in 2014, not now - Booked because this was meant to be a 4 star hotel, if that's what your expecting then you will be disappointed. The staff where lovely, the building itself, even being a little dated, is nice enough.
We were given our room and on initial look it looked fine. We where in room 202. Unfortunately the mattresses were almost non existent, they where that worn it was like sleeping on the bed slats.
The shower is a nightmare, I'm not large and I struggle to not hit the shower handle which either scalded you or froze you. Even jist trying to wash your hair. The shower door did not close properly so you ended up flooding the bathroom.
On the night the silverfish come out to say hi! Especially in the loo.
There was stains over the carpet and rubbish left in the bathroom.
Basically, if the mattresses were semi decent I wouldn't mind so much. We only used the hotel to sleep and even that was poor.
It's a shame as it did win an award back in 2014. Give your hotel some love as it has so much potential.
Clean the rooms near the window /bed there's loads of what looks like sawdust against the wall.
I didn't make a complaint as we had already been moved once as initially we where given a twin room which we had asked for a double.
- Rourked (2/5): It's a No from me - Hotel said we weren't booked until the following day - got sorted finally.
Safe and air con not working. Building work outside hotel. Paid for breakfast but not provided - we went to Lidl for coffee and a sandwich. The restaurant/bar is a separate business (according to hotel staff) I would not recommend this hotel.
- Jennie (8/5): - This is a very good cheap option for staying in Prague. If you're there for the city centre, there is a door to door tram service which takes about 20 minutes to the centre. If you are there for the Congress Centre, it's ten minutes' walk away. The hotel was clean, my room was very spacious and fresh, and the staff were helpful. The hotel does not offer any catering, and the only downside is that the bar/restaurant which shares the site and is supposed to function as the breakfast and dining option, keeps erratic opening hours. It is great when it is open, but do not rely on it being open at the advertised hours. There is a fridge in the rooms and a Lidl five minutes away, so nobody needs to starve.
- Carlos Augusto (8/5): Bom custo beneficio. - Bom custo beneficio.
- Daniel (8/5): - Nice hotel with good connections to the centre of Prague. Unfortunately there were construction works outside the hotel during our stay, which lead to some unconvinience. Besides that me and my friend are satisfied and would recommend the hotel to our friends and relatives :)
- adnanaX3148RA (4/5): Very bad experience - Very bad experience, air condition not working well although with many requests from reception but still not working well and rooms are hot. They don’t clean the rooms every day. The rooms furniture very old
- Jari Veli Sakari (8/5): - Friendly little hotel. Good connections to city of Prague. Good breakfast and fast service at hotels lovely restaurant. Little shops and also local pub just outside.
- 399tinab (8/5): Pleasant and relaxed stay - Union hotel is a place I would recommend. Rooms were spacious and clean. Staff on reception always polite and helpful. Close to tram stop that gets you to the centre of Prague. Opposite old city wall, a bit of a climb but a lovely panoramic view of the city. Also look out for the woodpecker and red squirrels
The Square in front of Hotel is being renovated so a bit of building work going but didn’t affect our stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Reasonable - Reasonable price and room condition.
Good location for public transportation.
Didn't make up rooms everyday.
- HyeKyung (8/5): - 가성비 갓!!트램이 바로 앞이라 이동도 좋습니다.
- Antonio (8/5): letti non molto comodi - avrei trovato più comodi materassi meno affossati (su letto a doghe)
- Marjo (4/5): - Kokolattiamatot huoneessa epämiellyttävät, hygieniatuotteet puutteelliset, ilmastointi puuttui. Jos käy vaan nukkumassa niin ok hotelli, vuodevaatteet puhtaat
- Elvis (4/5): - Worst personnel for a 4 star
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel is not a 4 star hotel.
It lack breakfast buffet.
- Janusz (10/5): - Cena przystępna. Hotel czysty. Blisko przystanek tramwajowy. Niestety hałas z ulicy był trochę za duży i niestety nie dało się spać przy uchylonych oknach.
- Alejandra (8/5): - The train rails are next to the hotel and in the morning they are too loud. Everything else was fine
- VÁCLAV (4/5): - The restaurant should be opened for breakfast at 8:00 in the morning. I left at 8:15 without breakfast because the restaurant was still closed. I paid 8 eur for nothing.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Right beside tram stop. Prague was beautiful. Staff was friendly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff were so friendly and helpful, breakfast so nice just what you need for the start of the day , have recommended this to my friends, will definitely return.
- George (10/5): Prague - Had a lovely few days in the Union hotel. Staff were very helpful especially Mukhtar who couldn’t have been any nicer. Happy friendly face whenever you came in no matter the time 😄
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good for a short break - Convenient, pleasant, just what was required
- Stephen (10/5): Hotel Union, Prague - First impression was of a nice good quality old style hotel. Service at the desk was very friendly, polite and efficient. The room was wonderful, new bathroom, powerful shower and daily shampoo\gel. Towels are changed if left on floor. Bed was extremely supportive and comfortable. Breakfast was brilliant, different things to try, all delicious. Best porridge ever. Hotel near for trams. Restaurant was closed during our stay. Trains and trams are noisy but Lidl nearby for a little something to help you sleep. Tram stop outside the hotel to connect to the centre, about 10 minutes and the A Metro/119 bus to the airport, about 1 hour.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - i liked every thing about this hotel. i will stay at this hotel if i go to prague again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A great place to stay, in Prague - I just came back from Prague, where I and my wife stayed at this excellent hotel, for 5 nights, from September 20 to 25, 2019.
This is a great hotel, in every aspect. We were so lucky (and/or smart…) to have chosen it, while there were so may other choices. It made our whole trip totally enjoyable.
(Btw, we also like Hotels.com very much.)
- Sam Orn (10/5): Great Hotel - Super hotel, very clean, huge room, really friendly staff and great location, great aircon. Would definitely recommend this hotel
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I liked my spacious deluxe room and its retro feel.
The noisy train, lack of shower curtains, and the weird breakfasts with a bad instant coffee machine were drawbacks.
- BoHoWo (10/5): - The closeness to Vyšehrad and many lines of public transportation makes this hotel an excellent choice
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very clean hotel woth staff who are very willing to assist
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location was great. Breakfast was decent. Rooms as decent and the shower was nice. Staff was amazing.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautiful property with character, clean rooms, friendly staff, good location for trams. Nothing to dislike
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This hotel has been nominated "HOTEL OF THE YEAR 2014" but, in my opinion, it should have been nominated hotel of the year 2018 as well.
Friendly and professional staff. Comfortable rooms. Very clean and courtesy were all over the places.
If I go back to Prague, I would NOT hesitate to get back to it again. Price was also good.
Quite central and close to anywhere.
I would definitively recommend this hotel to anyone!
Very happy very delighted!
- Matthew (8/5): Good warm hotel, slightly out of the city centre - Stayed on the top floor in a twin rooms on the corner. The room was spacious but there were large beams overhead and the roof sloped into the room somewhat. This led to a slightly odd layout in the room. There were also no blinds on the side windows but due to the angle of sun this wasn't too much of an issue in terms of sunlight coming in. The en-suite was nice and water was powerful and warm.
Staff were friendly and helpful and spoke English very-well.
The breakfast was a mix of continental and buffet with a choice of typical breakfast items - pastries, cereal, eggs, meat etc.
Wi-Fi in the room which worked well.
The hotel was a slight journey out of the centre - E.g. from the Old Town Square it was a good 40 minute walk, or about 15 minutes on a tram (18 was the preferred choice).
We were able to store our bags after check-out whilst we wait for out flight.
- Susan (10/5): Another brilliant stay! - It was not the first time I have stayed there and it is ideal from the vantage point of being close to the center without the constant hassle! The staff are amazing and extremely helpful and friendly!
- Simon (10/5): Nice stay - Good value for the money.
- Simon (10/5): Good short stay - Good short stay
- evren (10/5): Perfect lication - It is amazing to be in praque
Location and quality of hotel is perfect
- Don (10/5): - Vacationed in Prague to visit a close friend who lives there. Hotel Union was in my friend's neighborhood. Very friendly staff, in particular the manager and her staff in the hotel restaurant. I look forward to another stay here.
- FrankG (6/5): Just an average hotel. Should definitely not be 4 - Apart from it’s good location it’s just average. The amenities in the room were minimal. No coffee or lotion. It’s supposed to be 4 star but feels 2.5/3 star. The room was badly cleaned one day. Glasses not washed, bed not layed.
- Christian (10/5): Very nice hotel in convenient location. - Gladly surprised of the condition of the hotel. Pictures don't do justice of it's actual presentation.
Steps away from Tram stop that takes you all over Prague (not even 10 minutes from the Old Town). Restaurants and stores walking distance from the hotel.
Great for families. Very spacious accommodations.
Fantastic breakfast.
Extraordinary cost-benefit ratio.
- B C J (8/5): - Very good value hotel with helpful staff. Clean room of decent proportions.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great hotel. It's a tram-ride away from the center and attractions. It is next to the tram stop and railway, so you can hear it a bit at night but other than that, it's a lovely, comfortable hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice practical hotel - Good standard. The bed is not that comfy. This is the only disadvantage. The staff is nice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel is little bit old, but clean and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (6/5): An old hotel on outskirts of city - The first night we had 2 rooms on the 1st floor - neither had a/c, only one had a fan. It was hot that day, so we had to open the windows and it was so loud! I at first asked for a fan for the room that didn't had one and was told they didn't have fans. The street it is on is very noisy! We asked for different rooms the first night, but they were booked, so we were told we could change the 2nd night. These rooms were much better - one on 5th floor and the other facing a courtyard AND they both had a/c. They were both quiet and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Building was build in 1902, Nice staff, close to the center of Prague. However, no ac, train and tram next of the building, so, so some noise when you open the window. If the window is closed, then you will not hear anything.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel experience - We had a very comfortable room and the staff were very helpful. One staff member was able to help me find a lipstick for one of my friends that bought when she was in Prague! She offered to get it for me.
- Nathan (8/5): Affordable hotel in good location - Nice hotel with very helpful staff. Good restaurant and like much of Prague is very affordable. Location has easy access to central Prague and old town. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
- Chris (10/5): Good hotel - Great hotel, staff friendly. Location is not brilliant but well served by public transport.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location was good the tram stop was just in front of the hotel.
- Caglar (6/5): Not a good hotel, expect the worst. - There was no air conditioning our rooms, even though we got the better room type. So we had to open the windows (it was pretty hot when we stayed there) and that resulted in all the bugs entering our room. There's some lighting at the outer wall close to the window attracting all bugs & insects. The light in the bathroom was not working and reception could not have it fixed. That might be expected since it was evening, but did no one check the lights when room was cleaned & prepared for guests?
Also around 08:30 you want to take a shower and surprise! hot water is out, since everybody is using the bathroom at the same time.
- Mike (4/5): Way away, small, sort of a bathroom, no real AC - If it weren't for the hotel staff, this place would have no redeeming qualities. The hotel itself is miles off the beaten path. You'll spend so much on taxi fare that it makes way more sense to pay for a better room closer to the action. The rooms are extremely small, they advertise they have AC but when you get there they tell you it is central air that they control. You'll never feel air coming out of a vent and it gets very warm. The bathroom has all the essentials but good luck squeezing into the hole where the toilet is and the shower is very small as well. The shower head does not hang above you; it's at waist level My shower head did not spray but poured like it was coming out of a water hose. All in all, the traveling expense to and from the hotel make it a bad option. That alone is enough for me to never go back.
- Geetha (10/5): Love in Prague - It is very welcome very good breakfast bathroom bit small its a old hotel well kept and very much in Prague stile so we do like it, bit away from town but all transport services are within when get a day pass for the traveling its not a big deal enjoyed the stay, thank you Hotel booking service too
- Sharon (8/5): Nice hotel - excellent staff - Good location, not far on the tram into the city centre, less than 5 minutes. We were upgraded to a huge room (myself, sister and Mum) with a cloakroom, toilet, main bathroom with corner bath. The decor is a little tired but hotel is very clean. The walls are fairly thin so expect to hear your neighbours! We called reception at 3am to complain about a party next door, they responded immediately and it quietened down so pleased with that. Hotel staff are really friendly and pleasant and worth speaking to them about where best to go and how best to travel. Allowed us to check in early too as we arrived earlier than planned. I would return to this hotel.
- Nomin (8/5): Nice hotel with close tram station - Rooms were clean and spacy, hotel staff friendly, location will depend on your trip purpose, but it was excellent for me. Breakfast is basic, but doable.
- Tithi (8/5): Nice Hotel closer to the tram stop - There was none at the reception , while i arrived and someone came in after 10 minutes. But the staff was helpful , once I meet them. Room was clean. Wifi connectivity was good. Breakfast was good.
- Eric (10/5): Hotel Union, Prague - We have stayed at this hotel before and are likely to do so again. The staff are friendly and very helpful. And albeit the restaurant and bar area are currently being refurbished, the breakfast dining area is unaffected by these alterations. The tram stops are within 30 meters of the hotel. Room was well appointed and clean with a comfortable bed.
- Tiffany (6/5): So so hotel... - Not the best area, yet, worth the price paid. Excellent free breakfast however!
- RUTH (2/5): TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE - We arrived 2 couples with our reservation for two double rooms. We were given one complex with 2 rooms one bathroom and toilet!! This is not what we booked!! We were so angry !! They said it was their mistake but nothingto do about it! We had no choice.I'll never return there.
- jim (8/5): Nice hotel 15 minutes from train station - Staff was pleasant hotel was fine tram stopped right across from the hotel
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok hotel in Prague - Although this hotel is close to a tram stop, if you want to be within walking distance of anything, this is not the hotel for you. One of our biggest problems was the smell of smoke. Although we were in a non-smoking room, we had to keep the windows open to not choke on the smell that leaked through the vents. The rooms are not very sound proof, and we were awoken most mornings by other guests and the cleaning lady. Our shower also worked only half the time.
- cb (8/5): good value, pleasant - For the price this was a nice place. The rooms are decent and the elevator, fridge, free WiFi, and breakfast buffet are good amenities. The front desk staff is hit or miss for friendliness. Its not in the city center but the tram is very easy and convenient. Downsides is that there was never cold water, showers were always scalding hot.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Close to venue - Staff was friendly and helpfull, but no tea or coffee making facilities in the room
- Verified traveler (10/5): good hotel - Good hotel just right for a few days visiting Prague.
- A (4/5): Close enough to the center - The two main things to keep in mind:
The hot water is hard to come by above the 1st floor, hot water coming and going, leaving me in the shower waiting.
Internet DOES NOT work in the rooms, you have to go by front desk to get connected.
Lots of noise due to the hotel being attractive to students, and nothing was done from hotel staff to keep the hotel quiet in the middle of the night.
However the staff is friendly, doing whatever they can to satisfy guests with what resources they have in hand.
- Liam (4/5): Poor hotel - Breakfast was very poor selection and food looked unappetising and had music at weekend till 2am
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good public transit + front desk service - Hotel Union was easy to book, close to great public transit connections to major sites, good at maintaining a safe environment at night, and the front desk service was quite helpful. While the immediate neighborhood is a bit rundown looking, upon returning late at night hotel staff have a good security process for verifying only hotel guests are able to re-enter the building. All the front desk staff was efficient in answering our questions and helping with services like buying tram tickets and arranging car service back to the train station when we left Prague. Breakfast, while fairly simple, was sufficient and included in room price. Our bathtub/shower set-up was a bit weird: a very tiny deep bathtub + shower head but no shower curtain. I don’t know if that’s particular to Czech Republic, the hotel, or just the room we were in. Overall, we were happy with the hotel for the price we paid.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Looks are Deceiving - They have a mini-bar in the room with amenities which are available for consumption; however, they cost a fee. This fee is to be paid upon checking out. The notice which indicates the items are not FREE is not in obvious view; this then becomes deceiving.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great little hotel! - This hotel was really cute. I definitely enjoyed my stay here. Everything was clean and nice.
- J from Canada (8/5): Recommended - Clean and safe hotel with helpful staff close to public transportation and local amenities. Good reasonably-priced Italian restaurant on main floor. Wish they would ban smoking, but that might be a while for Prague, and the rooms were non-smoking.
- Verified traveler (10/5): excellent services - My one-week stay is really cost-effective. I believe the hotel and it related services are worth my residence fees. The staff of that hotel are very nice. Therefore, I highly recommend this hotel to other travellers to Prague
- Verified traveler (8/5): good service - Very pleasant
- Verified traveler (8/5): prague stay - Hotel was clean and suitable,
- Steve (8/5): Pros and Cons - Good Points:
Rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious.
Staff are helpfull and courteous.
Our room 313 had a bath and shower.
Room 313 is away from the road so nice and quiet.
It was my birthday during our stay and the management left a complementary bottle of bubbly.
Not so good points:
Some rooms are subjected to noise from the railway.
The sacrifice for getting a quiet room is the view from the window, or lack of it.
Breakfast finished at 10:30 but there is not much left by 9:30
Conclusion:
The Pros outweigh the cons. Definitely be back next time.
- CJ (8/5): A comfortable hotel as described - We stayed at the hotel union checking in on new years eve. A typically Czech hotel, it was pretty well as listed. We took a large room on the fifth floor, which unbeknown to us was effectively two rooms, the first with a double bed, and the second more like a sitting room with wardrobes, a safe, and the minibar/fridge. A welcome amount of space. Whilst the room was clean, much of the hotel smell the smoke, smoking being permitted both in the public areas and with the bedrooms. This was noticeable to us as visitors coming from country were smoking has been banned in most, if not all, hotels restaurants et cetera.
The staff are friendly, the hotel breakfast as one would expect, and the facilities functional. There is a tram stop directly outside a hotel, which takes you direct to Wenceslas Square. Tickets can be purchased from the Chinese deli, 30 m to the left of the hotel.
We quickly got used to the noise of your might trams, concluding that we could have been further out from the centre but the travel into Prague would therefore be more committed.
Overall, we found the hotel to be as described by previous travellers, clean, comfortable, well-positioned yet away from the hustle and bustle of the centre, and ideal if you want to be within 10 minutes central Prague, are very efficient tram system that passes five times in every up until midnight. We would stay there again.
- Dee (8/5): Nice hotel - Nice hotel, good staff. Kinda cold in the room, maybe cos we were there in December....had to ask for extra blanket. No quiet time in hotel, guests in the room above us were making noise all night - talking, screaming, jumping around.
- WJ (10/5): Clean and Comfortable - Breakfast, Internet, Staff and bed.. Everything is fine.
This hotel is in front of nice place, Vishherad, another traveling point.
LiDL, supermarket, is near this hotel. You can buy anything you want.
- Lora (8/5): Very helpful staff - The staff was very helpful and nice. They held our bags for us after we checked out. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet that they served...many good treats. Only negative: no shower. Only a tub with a hand wand.
- JNaper (4/5): Not as great as it appears. - I was not happy with our stay. It says it is located near various attractions, but it’s not – it’s in the ghetto of Prague, under a bridge – nowhere near the sites it listed. There are 2 train/tram tracks that run next to the hotel, less than 50 ft away. The large trains run ALL night, & the local tram runs late into the night & start early the next morning. There was no A/C, but because the train & tram was so close to the hotel, we couldn’t sleep with the window open due to the very loud bells & horns. We sweated all night and wore thick ear plugs w/ windows shut. Our bed was not a mattress - it was a boxspring that had been "padded" with a comforter, then sheet, then another comforter which had burn holes in it (in a non smoking hotel) & was made out of the same polyester fabric as the curtains. Our pillows were so flat they were unusable. There is no way to call the front desk for assistance, you must go & find an employee. We found the desk clerk at the hotel bar, drinking & smoking all night. I asked for more pillows & she said “No, we don’t have extra pillows or blankets”. She was very rude & inappropriately dressed -if I didn't know better, I would think she was a "working girl", not the desk clerk. The breakfast buffet was terrible- the yogurt was tangy & foamy, the cheese was crusty from being days old & the bread was stale. We were happy to get out of there as quickly as possible the next morning and found a different place to stay. I do NOT recommend this hotel!
- Zara (8/5): Nice and simple - If you are looking for a simple, nice and clean hotel that doesn't cost an arm and a leg then this is the hotel for you. Breakfast is good (not your usual dried out continental buffet), the staff are friendly and helpful and best of all it's far enough away from the hubub of the "tourist" area without being more than 15 minutes by tram/metro to the city centre.
I would recommend it to single travellers, couples and families.
- Sheena (6/5): Our time in Prague - We thought that the hotel was very near the center when in fact it was 6 tram stops from the centre. We had booked the penthouse suite which had 2 seperate rooms but we were given another where the 4 of us were all together ( 2 adults + 1 18 year old and a 16 year old ) the room was also on the 1st floor opposite the tram stop and railway line. We were also disappointed with the breakfast which was free.
Would chose a hotel nearer the center of this lovely city next time.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - For two days, and in spite of asking twice, they did not provide soap or shampoo . The "breakfast" is rather modest and cater only to certain taste. The people at the front desk were rather nice though.
- Jon (8/5): Hotel Union - Prague - The hotel is 19 miles away from the airport and almost cost $30 US dollars to get there. Negotiated a price to return to the hotel. The hotel was very quaint. The guy at the desk could have been more educated as to the transportation in the city. The bed was hard as a rock. No wash clothes in the bathroom. The included breakfast left a lot to be desired! It was pretty nasty! Overall, it was exactly what we needed to crash and get up to catch Delta back to the US. I would do it again if I had too especially considering the price (which was terrific)!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Pleasant, but modest - The hotel is conveniently located and all in all quite satisfactory. However, the breakfast is rather modest, unless you are planning on starting luch straight away and the coffee doen't even remotely resemle its actual self. I drank Earl Grey instead which was very good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Almost perfect! - Great location 10 mins away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. A fantastic tram system outside the hotel either number 18 or 24 will take you straight to Charles Bridge or Wencelas Square.
Friendly staff and very helpful, room was large with TV and a fabulous bathroom with bath and seperate toilet.
Only 2 disappointments was the unusal & sometimes lacklustre buffet breakfast & limited evening meals available BUT on recommendation from the receptionist, 2 mins around the corner was a local restaurant/pub which served superb traditional food and fantastc local beer!
- graham (10/5): - hotel union in perfect location 15 minutes walk from charles bridge and around the corned from the castle, room was clean and big enough and just what we wanted also parking was included which is right outside our balcony, very nice staff and spoke good english, prague is very nice city and we will be back and use this hotel
