Guest Reviews
- Denver (6/5): - older hotel without things like mini-frigs in the rooms. Staff was generally very nice, but someone at reception copied my credit card info and used it to make an unauthorized purchase
- Marilyn (8/5): - Very friendly and helpful staff that were so accommodating to our changing needs during our stay. Definitely booking again when next in The Camden area
- Ariel (8/5): - Shops nearby
- Denver (2/5): - Someone at the front desk copied my credit card information and used it for a Deliveroo order without my knowledge. Fortunately I caught it two days later and disputed the charge on my account, but now I have to get a new card from my bank
- Jennifer (10/5): - Clean good sized room, warm, great shower, iron, board, tea and coffee facilities, hair dryer and Tv. Great value. Can’t fathom why people give such poor reviews. Such good value for a small price in London. Short walk from underground and Camden.
- John (6/5): - Rooms were clean and comfy, one staff member was abit arrogant and the breakfast was crap cold and tasted was cooked the night before which let it down not worth price
- Erin (4/5): - There was sticky marks all over the walls and drips of some fluid over it. The carpet wasn’t clean. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on woke up with a mark from a metal rod in the bed. Only one pillow each and we went and asked for more but they didn’t have any. Also parking. It says 12 space car park when we arrived there were “2 spaces” but these were impossible to get in due to the trolleys and bins which they have laying about everywhere in the car park. The remote in the bedroom wasn’t working properly and all the buttons were inverted too. Would not go back not worth the money have stayed in much nicer hotels for cheaper.
- Mr Christopher I (6/5): It's Okay - The staff were friendly and happy to help when needed.
The room we stayed in was a really good size for me and my girls.
The Bathroom on first inspection looked really good, however there was a slightly worrying blob dark in colour near the toilet. In the middle of the bathroom floor there were some spots of something.
The shower was good but the water took a while to drain away.
We stayed for two nights and when we went out all day Saturday I was surprised when we got back that our room hadn't been cleaned. I've not been to a hotel where they don't do this. Also our key cards didn't work on the same day which meant I had to walk back to reception which was annoying after a long day out.
I would stay again but I would ask a few more questions before I book a room.
- William Neil (4/5): - constant road noise (double/triple glazing?), very uncomfortable bed, gap between bed and clothes stand only 9-10 inches apart so awkward to negotiate, TV didn't work (no signal) and unbelievably what sounded like the delivery of aluminium beer barrels in the middle of the night. All in all a dreadful night.
- Jonathan (10/5): - Perfectly good for overnight stay. Would definitely sray again
- Janine (8/5): - Hotel, rooms and furniture a bit tired and scuffed looking. Found a big black hair in chest of drawers.
Helpful staff and 10 minute walk to nearest tube station.
- Fergal (8/5): - Perf
- Soukaina (6/5): - Its an average hotel
- Stephen (6/5): - Basic hotel but very clean. Couldn’t fault it really. 12 min walk to nearest tube stations
- jeramie (6/5): - I liked the location. Easy access to Chalk farm underground. About a 6-7 minute walk and many bus stops near the property and it’s out of the really busy parts of London in an upper class area. There’s a Tesco, pub and Starbucks less than a minute walk 1 block over and the beautiful park that overlooks the entire city is very close. Room was dated and not modern but was clean. Stayed for 4 nights and nobody came to clean or anything at all, I had to ask the front desk for toiletries, towels and coffee. I didn’t like the window only opened 4 inches and had zero air flow. Beds were very uncomfortable. Breakfast seemed okay but was quite expensive for what it was. Most hotels include a breakfast buffet like that nothing special just normal breakfast. Rooms do not have refrigerators or fans so it will get very hot in the summer time. All in all its was the most okay stay. I’d stay again because of the location but something needs to be done about people smoking marijuana and cigarettes out back. With the window open that’s all you’ll smell all night. For the price and location it’s good enough
- Thomas-Christian (8/5): - Sometimes you just to get your head down for the night. Nothing special, no gimmicks. My partner was in hospital nearby and I just needed a bed for the might. Basement room with no window, fit the bill. Double bed was a little hard, but I dropped off quite easily. Lovely walk-in shower in a good sized bathroom (might need to look at the flow down the plug hole). Restaurant and breakfast available on-site, but plenty of places locally. Overall a little tired, but then so was I.
- Anthony (8/5): Nice place to rest your head - Hotel was ok to rest your head, the service was ok, although I have to be honest in saying the food isn’t great
- Samantha (2/5): - I CHANGED hotels from this place after one night because of how bad it was. DON’T STAY HERE. I was booked to stay 6 nights and after one night I decided to eat the cost because of how bad it was. The bed was solid springs, my husband and I both woke up in pain and sweating because NO AC. I thought maybe if I got an extra comforter it would make the bed less painful, I had to walk to the front desk because there’s no phones in the room. The front desk said they’re out of blankets and pillows. My husband and I couldn’t handle staying 5 more nights and switched hotels and switched to The Standard, I highly recommend over this place!
- Carlie (2/5): - Staff was rude, house keeping came once during our 9 day stay and only replaced our sheets. The sheets they did give us smelled like mildew. The mattress had springs poking out of it. You definitely get what you pay for.
- Leon (8/5): - Everything
- Michael (8/5): Peaceful Stay - 4th with terrace, so you have to use the one chair you have in the room. Wifi signal wasn't strong enough for the smart tv.
When taking a shower make sure to leave a towel in front of the shower incase water spillage, Shower cubicle is small for over 6ft and large people.
Limited car parking spaces.
Apart from that its ok
- David (8/5): - I liked the location. it was near Chalk Farm Road with a short walk to Chalk Farm Tube station, where you can catch the Northern Line to go directly into Centeral London.
It is in Western Hamstead or Northeast Camden.
- Julie (8/5): - Nice enough but the bar and restaurant was closed the whole time
- Hannah (8/5): - Staff are very helpful and polite. Comfy stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): Mostly excellent. - Excellent friendly and helpful staff, lots of local knowledgr. Had to pay extra for parking , which was not mentioned on the hotels.com site (not the hotels fault) , and somebody left an empty glass in the corridor outside my room in the evening which was still there the next morning. Other than that, excellent. Will use again
- Sharvae (4/5): - Room was too hot, windows can't open wide enough for airflow, and one of the fans was not working properly. They refused to change the fan! Have to hoover the room yourself! Not very attentive to your basic needs even when you ask!
- Darren (4/5): Ummm not again! - Was disappointed that my room and bathroom wasnt cleaned and bedsheets not changed for a 3 night stay.
- Simon (10/5): - No parking spaces available onsite but managed to find on street parking close by
- David (2/5): - Lovely area
- Jason (4/5): - Poor rooms and facilities
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Upon arrival, I was shocked to find:
No air conditioning in the room, making sleep nearly impossible during warm weather.
Mold clearly visible in the bathroom vents and on the walls.
Unsanitary stains on the carpets and bedding.
No security measures or checks upon entry to the hotel premises.
Unresponsive and unhelpful hotel staff who were unwilling or unable to address even basic concerns. For example: on June 17, 2025, the desk person’s response to mentioning the lack of AC was stifling and uncomfortable was, “Well we are all hot in this building. There’s nothing we can do, unless you use the fan in your room.” To which i mentioned that the room didn’t have a plug-in fan and he said, “I’ll let my manager know.” And the next morning, June 18, 2025, I was given a single rotating white fan that didn’t reach from the wall plug.
As a direct result of the lack of AC and poor air quality, I developed a sinus infection that negatively impacted my entire trip. The conditions were so intolerable that i checked out early on June 19th — well before the end of our original stay. I booked alternate accommodations through another platform.
To add further concern, the fact that a property with such severe health and safety issues is listed on Hotels.com deeply undermines my trust the platform.
- Darren (6/5): So so Hotel - Room was on main street so i heard all the traffic! Also where lorry was unloading and making loads of noise after 10pm!
- Ryan (8/5): - Overall our stay was without any serious issue. The hotel was easy to find and the lobby/restaurant was clean and had a nice welcome feel to it.
Check in was a little slow and the bar wasn’t always attended so I would say service could have been better, but again, this was minor so nothing to cry about by any means. The staff themselves were smiley and friendly and that’s all that counts to me really.
Our room was on the ground floor, the hall way leading to the rooms had a very unpleasant smell… one that I would seriously consider complaining about as it was nauseating.
The plus side, was that the bedroom was absolutely spotless! No smell (thankfully), the bed was very firm, which I do like, however only 1 pillow each, and as a side sleeper I would prefer two, which has always been standard in other establishments. As we were there only for 1 night, I didn’t want to bother the staff by asking for another. But something to consider if you are staying here.
Overall the stay I would rate 8/10 - parking here is very limited, so have a back up plan if you are arriving by car. And to the hotel people, please clean that corridor carpet, it’s not nice being greeted with that awful smell!
- Mark (4/5): Stinky windowless room with no airflow - The positive of this hotel is the price and the location, but that is about it. I had a ground floor room. Walking through the double doors from the breakfast to this set of rooms, I was greeted with a waft of moldy stench, as if the carpets had not been washed since inception. Onward to the room which was windowless and without AC. There was a tiny tv and a very uncomfortable “double bed”, which was actually two singles pushed together. The bathroom? Passible and at least there was hot water. But whoever engineered the shower forgot to install a soap dish platform on the wall. Instead, I had to put my shampoo and soap on the floor and bed down when ready to use them. And check out is at 10 am, which is absurdly early.
- Sarah (10/5): Great value for money - Late check in, parking on site, friendly and professional staff, easy check in and out.
- Errol (4/5): - Nothing unique....not a lot to like
- Verified traveler (4/5): Very noisy due to broken window - Our room overlooked a busy main road which might not have been too bad if it wasn't for the fact that the window was broken and we couldn't shut it so we got very little sleep.
Having said that Jean on reception was wonderful she couldn't have been more helpful and friendly, she is an asset to the company.
- Ian (4/5): - Like a jail cell, and clubby stumps all over the balcony from previous guest I’m assuming.
- Nafees (10/5): - Great stay
- Joanne (2/5): Poor Service - We were informed once we had checked in that our room would only be refreshed every 4 days, we had no clean towels, refreshments or bedding, I witnessed a foreign national go to reception with a name and ask if that person was a guest and the information was given out freely, the shower water barely ran and I had a delux suite and was shocked to find out side my door 2 days in a row a ceiling tile had fallen in the smell of dap was really bad needless to say we wont be staying again
- Mohammed (2/5): - The property is unclean. Checking in I was in a que of travel group. There is work . The windows are useless
- Randy (6/5): - Location is good for Camden and Regents/Primrose. Rooms are large but need updating relative to other 3-star hotels
- Helen (8/5): - We stayed for 2 nights, location was easy for tube and walking to London Zoo via Primrose Hill.
We were lucky to be on 4th floor with a fantastic view of the city.
We found the bed a bit firm, but the staff went above and beyond to add a duvet to soften the bed and also gave extra pillows.
Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again.
- MICHAEL (10/5): - Excellent stay , loved every minute of it
- Claire (10/5): - didn't use any of the facilities or have breakfast, literally reception and our room - for a one night stay. Could not fault the room, was clean, comfortable, very spacious, everything you need, pleasantly surprised after reading some of the reviews. The nearest tube station is a 10 min walk.
- Jodie (10/5): - Place is lovely and clean, staff very friendly and helpful
- candice (8/5): - The window did not open and on the second night key stop working
- David (8/5): - The rooms without windows really need aircon.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not great - Booked a twin room with a friend but they gave us a double, claiming it was an upgrade but they were fully booked so we had to share a bed rather annoyingly. The noise from the room next door was so loud for most of the night. We barely slept as a result. It was close to the Roundhouse though which was convenient.
- Sunil (6/5): ROOM 302 - First night was awful - avoid room 302 at all cost!! This is right next to the lift and sounds like a dragon breathing fire every single time someone uses and as only one lift was working it was in use so much I could not sleep most of the night! When I did get to sleep the hotel alarm went off at 4am which woke me again!
- Simon (4/5): Could be better - Not greeted in the best way , more concerned about me showing my id to him . Was woke up at 4am to guests arguing and fighting on the fourth floor and my sleep was ruined after that .
Apart from that , nice location , rooms a little dated and mattress wasn’t comfortable . Could be so much better
- Gavin (2/5): - The rooms are too hot, the state of the cleaning was bellow average
- Kevin (10/5): 1 day in London - Nice hotel. Very reasonable was upgraded to a window room for free. Recently renovated carpets. Paintwork had been smarted up fairly recently. Will stay again.
- Clare (8/5): - Good location. Perfectly acceptable hotel for the price and location. Staff are lovely. Felt safe there as a single traveller.
- Marius (10/5): Great choice for last minute - it was a last-minute change of plan, searched through a couple of apps and this came up close to where we need to stay. Booked online couldn’t get an invoice in the morning because I’ve booked it online but that’s fine.
- Megan (8/5): - Super friendly staff who upgraded my room upon arrival. Room was clean, relatively large and comfortable. Basic but all I needed for a one night stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Okay but disgusting..... - Room was decent. The toilet was clean and looks new, but the shower drain was clogged and it was like showering in a mini pool for my feet! Quite disgusted with that.
- Matthew (6/5): - No daily cleaning service. Very hot poor ventilation.
- June (8/5): Nice stay - Very clean
- Tanya (8/5): - Good hotel good location
- Ben (8/5): - Wouldve made sense to warn us the alarms would be activated if we showered without the window open!! Imagine the reception dude having to see my nakedness questioning what were doing at 4am just because we wanted to shower!!
Cheap and clean would stay again
- Ashleigh (6/5): - Rooms were basic, kettle was dirty but replaced with a clean one. Water in the shower tray didn’t drain very well and had to rush in case it overflowed onto the bathroom floor. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location and neighbourhood.
- Richard (6/5): - Very good
- Tom (8/5): - Ok, basic but fine
- Gill (10/5): Second visit - Great price and location.
- Alan (4/5): Bad night - Check in was fine , then it went downhill from there , the room looked tired with worn paintwork and was dark and dismal . I don't understand how you can put a room right by the lift as the noise made it very hard to sleep , I can definitely say I wouldn't stay here again
- Christina (8/5): - Friendly staff, facilities and quality of the hotel was ok - lobby and bar area were nice. Outside and room were average.
- Paul (4/5): Cannabis at The Hampstead. - Horrified that guests were allowed to smoke weed and drink Alcohol on the premises (outside).
Not a good look for the Hotel.
I wouldn’t stay there again.
- elizabeth (6/5): - Basic room, but the tv was not tuned in so could not use it, too late to ask someone to come up when we realised as we’d been out for the night, part of the windowsill had fallen off and was just perched on a plug socket. Also the curtains did not draw fully so lights from outside shone in not allowing a great nights sleep.
- Ati (10/5): - Nice location. Clean hotel.
- david (10/5): Great place - One of the best budget hotels in london in a great area.
Clean and well looked after and the staff are always helpful and friendly.
I Work a lot in london and will be staying again SOon
- Verified traveler (2/5): A tired and old hotel - We were given a room that was next to the lift shaft. Kept us awake all night. The mattress was old and worn. The shower had mould and a open drain so the smell came up.
- Sophie (8/5): - Very good value for money. Not far from Camden and in a decent enough area.
- Adam (10/5): - Very Good!
- Anthony (6/5): Breakfast was the let down 80% - Hotel room was excellent staff need to learn to be more professional breakfast £11 50 it wasn't worth £5 50. Wont stay again.
- Melanie (8/5): - Great stay
- Jo (10/5): - Lovely place to stay
- Laura (10/5): Great hotel in fab location - Excellent hotel for the price in London. Great base to explore from and close to cafes and places to eat and the park. Would stay here again.
- C (10/5): Good hotel - Nice and easy. Comfy beds. Close to camden markets etc. No complaints
- Jingyu (10/5): - Really good for the price
- Ranvir (10/5): - Great hotel, customer service. Reasonably priced and close to all transport facilities
- Emergency UK (2/5): - The bed was small
Toilet couldn't flush properly
Staff was rude and unhelpfully
Room had lots of dangerous slopes on the floor
Extortionate parking charge of £15 for hotel guest was outrageous.
- Ranvir (10/5): - This was a nice quiet very affordable hotel. Staff were very helpful. We had a lovely time here! Transport links were good and local coffee shops and Tesco supermarket. I would definitely recommend and would be more than happy to stay there again in London
- Ranvir (10/5): - This property is very clean for a 3star. Great room, great price and good customer service
- Ranvir (10/5): - This is a great hotel. I have stayed here many times and the staff are very helpful and kind. The prices are very reasonable and I just stick to staying at this hotel as it’s very comfortable.
- Diane (2/5): - The room was terrible, two single beds stuck together. The facilities were incompatible with our needs, only two pillows provided, no fresh towels, room was roasting, no fresh air flow, front desk staff were rude, non helpful and generally quite combative. Parking was a joke.
- Gavin (2/5): - Horrible staff ….disgusting rooms ….fighting in hallways ….worst nightmare this place
- Þórey (8/5): - Good value for money in a good location. Exactly what we needed.
- Marius (10/5): - Nice place
- David (10/5): - Goid location, friendly staff. Good room
- Terry (8/5): - Didnt like being asked for a review every time. Busy busy
- J (4/5): - Pros:
Elevators!! Good breakfast restaurants within walking distance. Quiet - its located in a residential area. Hot water and good water pressure. Room was clean and bed was comfortable.
Limited parking in a side lot. Street parking is easy, but you have to move your car by 9am.
Cons:
HUGE ISSUE - a male on the staff opened my door at 8am, completely unannounced and without knocking. There is no chain on the door. I felt completely vulnerable.
After that, I wedged the chair between the door and bathroom door frame to stop any further entry attempts.
The shower is tiny...very tiny. So are the bathrooms. The toilet paper roll location inhibits the ability to sit comfortably on the toilet in some rooms.
The only door is a revolving door. I had an awkward sized piece of luggage, and it was vhallenging to maneuver.
Because of the lack of door security in my room, I would not want to stay here again.
- Joanne (10/5): - I liked the hotel because it was in a good location within walking distances to where we wanted to go, overall it was a lovely hotel and friendly staff, Room was lovely and clean,
I didn’t have the best nights sleep this being due to a few residents coming in late and banging doors, it felt like they were coming into our room.also the time to be out the room was a bit confusing as my paperwork said we had to be out at 10am, but on the board in the reception area said 11am on a Saturday and Sunday.
- Julie (2/5): - £11.50 per day for a breakfast with no available bread or butter. Had to ask for it, and got 2 slices of bread and 2 squares of butter, one of which I shared with another diner.
No fruit or any cooked items and I had to ask for tap water, which I never got. Not sure how old the cereal was. Didn’t touch it.
No attendants or replenishments so breakfasters had to keep asking for assistance at the front desk. Day 2 I asked for a refund and went to Morrisons for breakfast items instead.
Bedside lamp was faulty. No hangers to hang my coat in the room and the door to the room looked like it had been in a skirmish.
Don't trouble yourself to go there, if you can avoid it.
- Abigail (2/5): - I will never stay here again. They didn't seem to have a 2nd room for us at check in, managed to find one. It was damp and i had a horrible nights sleep because of a security light that made the whole room bright green.
- Peter (8/5): - Good value. Will use again in future
- David (8/5): - Nice and clean but enforced the 15.00 check in to the second which resulted in quite a few people hanging around
- Francis (10/5): - Everything was perfect but I was not served breakfast
- Julia (4/5): - Window was broken and did not open. The first floor was under construction and they did not tell us so we got lost in the construction zone. There was no fan or circulation and the staff was odd.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic area and helpful friendly staff
