- John (8/5): - Immaculate room and bathroom. Pleasant staff. Could have a few more amenities.
- Waternalinly (7/5): -
- Joseph (8/5): - front desk staff was very friendly - Christian I think. confused about where to park - sign said valet but none was there - had to wait
- YOKO (6/5): -
- Ruby (10/5): -
- Charlotte (7/5): Fine for 1 night but needs updating - Room was fine for 1 person and staff/lobby was nice Tiny bathroom, blinds didn’t work well, no bottled water, area around the hotel is not great, could do with some updating
- Torres (6/5): - Chambre petite Qualité/prix. Air conditionné très bruyant
- Ahmadov (10/5): -
- James (7/5): Pleasant DT hotel - Easy check-in/check-out, good staff, close to train station. No good loading/unloading area, only street/lot parking. Rather small room for the price. Overpowered A/C for the room size (but maybe necessary at other times of the year?).
- Citlalli (5/5): It was decent wish pricing was less for the experience we had. - We wanted to explore little Tokyo so the location was decent about a five block or so down It was very small and the windows didn’t block out the noise from outside it sounded as if the windows were wide open you could hear all the honking sirens and traffic clearly. Only thing big and well decorated about it was the lobby. It also doesn’t come with parking you have to pay $40 a night for valet or find a parking garage. It doesn’t justify the $200+ a night , for that price was expecting at least free parking or muffled sounding of the traffic outside. I couldn’t get decent sleep until 1:30am from all the noise outside.
- David (5/5): Excellent location and good price, but not the nicest experience. - Very nice shower head. Room and halls had an unpleasant order. The bathroom sink didn't drain. Only had instant coffee in the room.
- Sheri (7/5): -
- Vanessa (6/5): Value for money - Comfortable budget hotel. Easy to get around either by bus or train. Very VERY noisy aircon & street noise constant, no double glazing. Staff liked an early morning conversation in their office, with the door open!
- Brandon (8/5): -
- Andre Lessard (8/5): - Best location. Walk to Disney concert hall, the Broad, MOCA, good restaurants, the market, public transit. Fridge in the room Basic hotel rooms in an onder building, but adequate
- Kazuya (8/5): -
- Krisna (2/5): So disappointed with this hotel. - Poor location and lots of homeless people nearby. There is no any amenities provide in the room.
- Rintaro (8/5): -
- Stephen (4/5): - There was no breakfast unless you go to cafe next door which was bland Hotel has done nice job of renovating
- Temuulen (8/5): -
- Usbaldo (10/5): Peaceful break from the suburbs. - How one is able to interpret the influence of Japanese culture and architecture in the United States, throughout one’s visit. N/A
- Usbaldo (10/5): A Maverick Thanksgiving. - The peaceful and welcoming ambience along with the variety of guest you come across like tourists from other countries, people visiting from out of or up state, and locals. N/A
- Victor (8/5): -
- Roberto (8/5): -
- Rufino (10/5): Enjoyable - Very nice experience! The hotel is close to everything and the atmosphere was relaxed.
- Juan Enrique (10/5): -
- Jonathan (8/5): - Clean the windows Mr Kawada
- Rachel (9/5): - Clean, quiet and staff were very helpful Nothing
- Remo (10/5): - Personale molto accogliente
- Jasmine (8/5): - Hotel was nice beautiful entrance. Room was decently cleaned. Walkable area. Valet parking was 40$ a night so be warned of that.
- Carmen (8/5): - Beautiful property with very nice staff. Room was clean and bed was comfortable but painfully small.
- Gregory (2/5): - The Rooms are very small, does not match the picture on the website. There is no closet, we were unable to hang our clothes. We asked to change the room on the one in the picture but they said it was the same room, what is not true. We arrived at the hotel very late for check-in and we had nowhere to go. We were forced to stay for one night and the next morning we checked-out although, we had paid for two nights. We asked for a refund for one night, they said we should ask Expedia for refund. We were forced to reserve another hotel for one night.
- Barbara (8/5): - Staff was great. Room was tiny and Spartan
- Timothy (8/5): - The staff are all friendly, accommodating and housekeeping takes pride in room cleanliness. Rooms tend to be small, the furnishings bare bones and aging. Non-urbanites might be put off by downtown LA, but the hotel is well situated - close to the Metro, courthouse, immigration, Angels Flight, Grand Central Market and more. Unfortunately, the rooms have thin walls and conversations from your neighbors can be easily heard. The rooms (especially lower floors) facing 2nd St. are subject to noise until late from the bar next door that has outdoor seating and then very early trash collection noise. Given all that, it's still one of the best deals if you have to stay in downtown LA.
- Tammy (8/5): - Convenient location nice to have restaurant in location for the most part clean nicely decorated
- Michael (6/5): - The pictures look much better than the actual room. The room was very very small and bed was very uncomfortable. Walls super thin, and we had very loud stompers above us. Everything is very old and not great condition. You can’t open any windows, so no fresh air, and the hotel smells pretty bad. They use heavy chemical air fresheners that just make it smell worse. Positives are that it’s close to everything in DTLA and the staff was very friendly, especially Derek! He was really helpful and attentive. For the price we probably wouldn’t stay here again as we didn’t really sleep well with all the noise and old uncomfortable bed, and weird smells.
- Jeff (6/5): - Functional room with no frills but decent shower and big bed.
Positives:
great coffee shop next door, and a couple of minutes stroll to Grand Central Market.
Handy for Broad and concert hall.
Staff were fine
Pretty good value
- Rick (10/5): - Nice staff clean rooms
- Daniel (10/5): - Very nice
- Orlando (8/5): - All was fine
- Cynthia (10/5): - Excellent place for the price. Rooms were kind of small, but worth it. Will definitely be staying again!
- GatoGn (9/5): fair price and connected to public transport - Worth the price, fair price for what you get. Clean bathroom and room. Really kind staff, really helpful, thanks!. So glad I chose this hotel. Assisted to an event at Grand Park and some were also staying at the hotel so we walked together back to the hotel, this gives security for solo travelers. One block away from the metro and two blocks away from other metro station, well connected to public transport. Just a few details that could have make my experience perfect: Seemed that there was more space in the room and the shower is small.
- Tania (10/5): - Great space
- Bryan (10/5): - Great location and friendly staff. Room was clean an comfortable. Lots of great restaurants in the area and close to public transportation hubs.
- Mary (10/5): Great clean cost efficient safe hotel - This is a great little cost efficient hotel in the Arts District. Very very clean. Your basic bed - comfortable. Heat, hot water, micro, fridge, extra towels, extra TP all in room to start. So convenient. Great location. Felt very safe.
- Thomas G. (10/5): - Good
- Joseph (10/5): - Great hotel. Close to all subway and rail lines. Quiet section of town too.
- Angela (10/5): - Staff were very friendly. Room was nice and clean. Very nice experience.
- Liz (10/5): - Was nice and close to metro station
- Greg (10/5): - This hotel is a great stay and walking dustance from Grand Central Market!
- Julio (4/5): - Biggest compliment and concern I had with my stay was I had bugs in my bathroom in two different occasions I saw cockroaches once’s inside of the shower and also within the bathroom. However the staff were very helpful and friendly.
- Mary (10/5): - Room, although small, was clean and pleasant and met our needs. The location of the Kawada is absolutely excellent. Close to a Metro station, two blocks from the Broad Museum and Disney Concert Hall, one block from the Grand Central Market. We were able to walk to everything and to catch the Metro to go one stop to Union Station for the free Dodgers Shuttle to get to a baseball game. Many excellent eateries and attractions were very close by. This was the perfect hotel for us!
- Paola (8/5): Reasonable hotel, unreasonable parking price - In the heart of DTLA, good location for an LA trip. Parking is incredibly expensive and not included in the hotel price. There is a parking lot on the same street, which is a lot more reasonable.
The room was small but effective. No frills, simple and clean.
- Rachelle (10/5): - First night Mon
- Louis (10/5): - Laundry is really clean
- M (8/5): -
- Cynthia (2/5): - I'm a woman and they wouldn't let me in! I got dropped off at midnight to stay between flights. A homeless guy was out front and a car turned around when I was trying to enter the hotel. It was incredibly terrifying, and I was banging on the door, and when he finally let me in, he said it was because someone was in line before me. So, he couldn't spend 2 seconds to press the button because, gawd forbid, a man is inconvenienced for 2 seconds to save the life of a woman. I was BANGING on the door, OBVIOUSLY in an emergency, and they wouldn't let me in! Usually I'm quiet, but in this case it was an emergency. If a woman is BANGING ON THE DOOR AT MIDNIGHT, it is an EMERGENCY. Obviously. I will never stay here ever again, and I recommend no other women stay here, they do not care whether you live or die.
- Brian (10/5): - Need restaurants or eating options, 7:00 pm for your bar grill is ridiculous
- Chi Yun (8/5): - With the price in the area, it is a very good option
- Michel (8/5): - Posizione perfetta per downtown!
Pulizia camera buona!
Facile arrivarci con la metro!
- David (3/5): -
- Keiko (8/5): -
- Claire (8/5): - .
- Pia (10/5): Cómodo - Limpio. Colchón cómodo. No había olores extraños. Personal muy amable. Solo 2 puertos USB, no hay enchufe universal
- Tim (8/5): Comfortable. - Convenient downtown location; easy access. Close to the Central Market. Not enough/reachable USB ports. Extremely confusing TV/Satellite. Could not find ESPN in English.
- JUNPEI (6/5): -
- Timothy (7/5): - Staff are great Airconditioning is loud. Cant view full tv when you are at the other end of the bed. My husband can view it in full on his side.
- India (1/5): -
- Jason (10/5): - Great overall experience. Clean and reasonably priced. Great laundry room was a bonus. Close to Grand Central Market which is an awesome food court. Only downsides were tiny rooms (European-like) and expensive parking.
- Jennifer (6/5): - My husband and I stayed here. I stayed for one night on August 16th. I was shocked by how small the queen room was. I do not recommend this place for two or more people in one room; this room is more convenient for one person.
The location was the best part of the stay. You are a 3-minute walk from Grand Central and near other shops, so it is easy to walk to.
- Maria Isabel Perez (2/5): - horrible costumer service the lady in the front desk was making fun of my family she i was very upset thats not the way you treat costumers. i will make a formal complain to the hotel manager.
- Cheryl (10/5): - Very quite gave me time to rest and be comfortable.
- Rene (3/5): …. - Location Room is way too small
- Juliet (10/5): Comfortable - There is a great bar around the corner think it's called Redwood live music great food .
We were only stayed over night ,hotel was close to union station 5 min taxi ride
- Udoka (8/5): - Honestly a really good and affordable place to stay if you’re looking to just sleep and sometimes eat in there. There’s nothing to really do IN the hotel room and the aminities are deductible old, but it’s kept neat, just be aware that some small bugs will pop out here and there. I usually book it when I’m going to conventions cause it’s 5 min walk to the subway and buses, plus there are food stalls and cafes around it.
- Adilza (10/5): - I liked everything! From the reception and helpful staff to the super comfortable room! Thanks !
- Bilawaldeep Singh (6/5): - Good location, the rooms aren’t bad but there was a small roach in the bathroom.
- Ruben (10/5): - Rooms are small and no closet, but clean and bed and pillows were very comfortable. Also appreciated in room coffee and fridge. We stayed at another boutique hotel a couple of months ago in LA that did not have either.
- Jiyeon (6/5): - I was assigned a small room, and when I went into the bathroom to get cleaned up, I saw a cockroach coming out from the air conditioner.
After that, it was really hard for me to sleep comfortably.
Although the room looked clean on the outside, the inside didn’t feel very well-maintained.
It was actually my first time seeing a cockroach in a hotel, and it was quite unsettling.
- Melinda (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Quick to use valet parking. Elevator was kind of inconvenient with the keycard but I appreciate the safety security at the same time.
Room was like the pics. Simple, clean and quiet.
- Verified traveler (10/5): 2 Night stay - 2 night stay on the 4th floor. Room had a microwave, kettle and fridge which was very convenient. Ice machine was located by the elevator. Room had clothes hangers, hooks on the door which was good to hang up my bags, hats and clothes. Outside soundproofing isn't good esp when you hear the sirens or cars revving their engines. AC was strong. Hotel is located close to 2 metro stations making it easy to visit different parts of LA.
Would stay here again when in town for an event.
- Bryant (10/5): - Overall an excellent stay!
- Maureen (10/5): - This was a great place to stay, especially on a budget. It had all the room amenities one might expect, and was very clean and comfortable. The staff were pleasant and helpful.
We needed to be close to Union Station and it fit that requirement as well. It would be an easy walk for the able bodied.
