Erin (9/5): Excellent stay in Shanghai! - The location of this property was excellent - amongst many little quaint shops and coffee shops. The hotel had a cool vibe - it is known for the Shanghai Film Festival so it has a cinematic theme. Loved our stay! The wifi was a little slow in some spots but otherwise, the room was darling!
Duncan (8/5): Convenient place in Shanghai - Good location. It is a bit more than 150 yards from the metro but still close enough! The steam room in the fitness centre didn't seem to be working. The room description included a spa bath but this did not seem to be available. The concierge staff did not seem to know about the range of restaurants and cafes all within 5 mins walk. A really good range of options.

Yong (10/5): A perfect hideaway in the middle of the great city of Shanghai - The location is great to reach most of the tourist destinations in Shanghai and breakfast is awesome with a mix of local and European dishes. It is also easy to access to Shanghai Film Archive Cinema via a connected indoor path. None.
JohnSydney2016 (4/5): Disappointing end to the trip - This was definitely a disappointing end to our trip in China after the generally exceptional service we had received at our previous IHG hotel stays. Nothing can make up for being assigned to a room where the basic bathroom functions such as toilet flushing and hot and cold taps do not work effectively. The solution of being expected to move rooms when we have three young children, are out of the hotel most of the time, and are in the midst of sorting everything out for the flight home is not viable. The room assignment should not have been made to any guest, let alone one with Platinum Elite status. On review, it seems that this hotel is resting on its laurels and relying on its reputation and theming to cover for a product that would not up to Crowne Plaza standards elsewhere. The smell of cigarettes hang in the hallway although the rooms were on a non-smoking floor. The buffet breakfast was plain and basic for this standard of hotel. The port cochere with vehicles passing was hazardous for people trying to get to and from the lobby given the flawed design, particularly with a specific smoking area in the main thoroughfare. There are literally thousands of options in Shanghai, and many in this area, so do not settle for this tired overhyped property.

Herman (9/5): Prima verblijf in kwaliteitshotel - De locatie van het hotel is prima, het metro station (lijn 10) is op korte afstand, de wijk is relatief rustig en rustiek met veel goede kleine restaurants en winkels. Faciliteiten in het hotel zijn prima, kamers rustgevend, goed bed en een uitgebreid en gevarieerd ontbijt. De drukte bij het ontbijt, mede als gevolg van het gebrek aan kleine tafels voor een of twee personen.

Ahmed (10/5): - As a Muslim, finding suitable halal food when traveling is always a challenge. However, my stay at the Crowne Plaza Shanghai was truly a pleasant surprise! The front desk staff was welcoming and attentive, check-in was quick and efficient. I especially want to praise the hotel's dining options. I was surprised to find halal food here, and it completely met my dietary needs. Whether it was the mushrooms and flatbread at breakfast or the hummus during dinner, the ingredients were fresh, the food was well prepared and very delicious! I was deeply touched by the chef's understanding and respect for the halal culinary culture. I highly recommend this hotel to fellow Muslims who share similar needs. Staying here provides peace of mind and a comfortable stay. Definitely a Five-star rating!

Salene (9/5): Great hotel with amazing staff! - The location is great, near to the subway and lots of food options. Most amazing is the staff I met there who made my stay extra special. A shout out to their F&B guest relations manager Mr Jacky Li and House keeping, Ms Li Ling and her other colleagues. All of them are friendly, helpful and professional. The hotel may be old but rooms are very comfy and great service from the staff. Breakfast is great with a good spread of both local and western food options. Highly recommend to stay here!

Hasan Volkan (7/5): Nice but needs renovation - Beds were super comfortable and the hotel was overall very clean. The ambience is nice with a decoration referring to old movies (photographs and objects in the lobby, hallways, rooms.) Facilities are quite old: Bathtub had curtains; air condition had an on/off switch. The parking area in front of the hotel entrance was very narrow and it was never easy to stop your car to get off. Check-in took so long. It's much quicker in other hotels.

And at morning breakfast, all staffs were very dedicated and friendly, particularly Jack Jai, Jeremy Dong, Martin Liu and many others will i don't get too get their names. Staffs are all very well trained and polite. Thank you to the whole team, fire making my stay so pleasant, smooth, and enjoyable. I was in room 1504 during my stay.

camuche123 (8/5): Good value - I booked with my IHG points and was kindly upgraded to a movie theme room by the guest service manager. Not a new property but if you manage to get a renovated room dating from few years already it is a good option. Very reactive staff when you send email to prepare your stay.

Special kudos to the cheerful and friendly cleaning lady who ensured we had a tidy, comfortable room to return to every evening after our touristic explorations. The movie hall next door was a location perk. I can't comment on the food, though, as I chose a no-breakfast package and didn't dine at any of the hotel's restaurants. Appreciated the early check-in too. I'm sure a 5-star hotel like Crowne Plaza attracts many foreigners who would like to experience Chinese culture. In light of this, I request that the hotel provide Chinese films with multilingual (or at least English) captions on the TVs in the rooms. Also, sometimes, the corridors on the 8th floor where I stayed had a strange, musty odour.
tonygF5869IN (10/5): A home from home - This is a civilised, friendly hotel whose main aim is to make you feel comfortable and welcome. Many thanks must go to Hotel Services Mgr. Gert van Beek. Gert's tireless, personable presence in the hotel lobby was always a treat. He, and the team, have inculcated an informal, helpful and informative ambiance across the hotel. He's also a very handy European portal into the dynamic world of Shanghai. His knowledge, insight and guidance - having spent over 20 years in the Chinese hotel industry - his tril-lingualism, including Mandarin - all supports his laid-back but efficient style. It's not just Gert either. His fellow staff members have a similar ethos. Hard-working, cheerful and available, they all helped to make this a memorable stay. I've stayed in hotels similar in rank in SEAsia but nothing comes even close to this experience. A problem with plumbing at 2am brought, almost immediately, an engineer and assistant who sorted it out promptly without fuss. The food is superb and the extensive breakfast buffet was a joy. Our room, a suite, was super-comfy. Gert's philosophy is to create a home from home. And this is what they achieved. Our trip took place during the Shanghai International Film Festival which is centred on this hotel.

Larry (8/5): Good location in Shanghai. - Close to convenience stores and restaurants. The roadway in and out of the property was wide enough for two vehicles. The staff made sure the path was always clear. Breakfast was good, but expensive. The cost of drinks in the bar was outrageously high. Could have bought an entire bottle at the store for what 2 drinks cost. Breakfast was overpriced as well.
