- munirakhalid (4/5): Good food and staff, poor cleaning - Even though the view is great and the staff are generally helpful, my experience with the room’s cleanliness has been very disappointing. You expect a 5-star hotel to uphold high cleaning standards, yet this was not the case during my stay. When I first checked in, the room was clean. However, after I ate, I dropped a few crumbs on the floor—nothing major—but those same crumbs stayed there for three days, which made it obvious that the carpet had not been vacuumed at all. During this time, the windows and tables were never wiped, and even the cups were not replaced. I had to call and request new cups myself. I informed the reception on my third day. They only sent someone to change the cups and bring water, while the actual cleaning wasn’t done until the next morning—and even then, it still wasn’t a deep or thorough cleaning. To put things into perspective, before this stay I had been in three different 4-star hotels, and all of them had noticeably better cleaning standards than what I experienced here. I also spoke to a gentleman at the reception—unfortunately, I forgot his name—who was genuinely kind and tried to help. He even joked during checkout that if I returned, he would personally clean the room. I appreciated his attitude, but the overall experience did not reflect the quality expected from Kempinski

- U5940WN_ (4/5): Not worthy of being called Kempinskii - Currently staying at Balchug Kempinski Moscow — and honestly, my impressions are quite mixed. To start with the positives: the welcome was warm, the staff are polite and attentive. As a GHA Discovery member, I was offered a complimentary room upgrade — a nice gesture and much appreciated. However, several issues have come up that are simply unacceptable for a five-star hotel. There are no complimentary breakfasts offered even for top-tier GHA Discovery members, which is quite disappointing. When I requested an additional bathrobe, I was brought one with yellow stains and a large tear — completely inappropriate. The iron provided in the room is of very low quality and hardly usable for any proper pressing. I’d also like to mention the state of the curtains — they are literally full of holes. And in a five-star hotel! Needless to say, the morning light pours right through them, so forget about sleeping in. Evening turndown service is another point of frustration. It wasn’t done at all on the first night and only started after I raised the issue at the reception. Since then, it has been extremely superficial — they just make the bed and close the curtains (yes, the ones with holes), then leave. Dirty and wet towels remain on the bathroom floor, toiletries are not refreshed, and the room is not truly prepared for the night. It’s just a bed that’s been made, nothing more. These are not the standards one would expect from a hotel under the Kempinski name. There is potential here, but the lack of attention to detail and inconsistency in service delivery are major disappointments. I sincerely hope the management takes these issues seriously — because right now, this is far from a true five-star experience. If you’re considering staying at this hotel based on the Kempinski name as a symbol of premium hospitality, I assure you this is a deeply mistaken expectation. There is nothing beyond the name that reflects Kempinski standards here. This property does not deserve more than a three-star rating given the complete absence of consistent, high-level service.
- varunsdua (10/5): Close to all landmarks - The hotel is just across the bridge(5 mins walk) from main touristy area of Moscow such as Red square and st. Basil church. Check in was smooth as staff at reception speaks English. There is even a teller at hotel if you need to exchange some money. The breakfast selection was also good. The hotel has a temperature controlled pool and a jacuzzi and a good gym as well. All in all a great place to stay for a touristy Moscow trip.

- NorthStar46049219781 (10/5): - Comfort is not only about clean rooms and a very efficient services. Whilst those are very important when you’re away from home, being made to feel AT home is a tripe many promise, yet struggle to deliver - not at the Baltchug. Being a South African with very poor Russian, I left feeling like I’d made friends and even my spoken Russian had improved 10x over! That’s the kind of care and warmth the staff gave to me. Very patient and even going out of their way to ensure that u was always comfortable, in spite of the potential language barrier. I loved every moment of the week I spent at the Baltchug. It’s a no-brainier for a place to stay in Moscow.

I go to Aliana on every day and she is always there smiling and helping me with whatever I need !!! I love her she’s so sweet and helpful. Mario was the one who welcomed me at the time of my check in and he was always checking if everything was okay with me! To be honest, everyone there was just nice and friendly.

Some of the reception staff were very unprofessional, which made the experience unpleasant from the start. - Majidmaj (6/5): Moscow Family Stay - The hotel reception staff was fine except one lady was rude and aggressive. She did not allow for early check in and gave us two separated rooms although we have kids. Housekeeping was not good the room was not cleaned good also in some days no towels provided. The bed was not comfortable and it was two separated beds put next to each other. The restaurant egg station was cooking on the middle of the dinning area with no proper ventilation or exhaust van. No good variety. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Concierge Alina was very professional, helpful and knows all attractions. Special thank to bell boy Pavel. Swimming area was great. Location was fine.

- TAGHREED (8/5): Old rooms and renovated rooms - My booking was one deluxe room and one superior room… when i have checked in the gave me suite connected to other room but it was very old and not in good condition and after going back to reception several times they tried to convince me to stay in what they gave but i was not happy but after showing them that i am not happy to continue in staying then they gave a renovated rooms which was in very good conditions not like the old one… this which i saw in the site before booking and as per the 5 stars hotels standard

The reception desk is completely not professional the check in was late was waiting about an hour before my room was prepared. Checked me in only at 15:30.

- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location was excellent, in easy walking distance of Red Square and the Metro on the south side of the Moscow River. There are plenty of restaurants in close proximity. The hotel is situated in a bottle neck at peak traffic times and we sat in traffic for over an hour at 7pm one night in travelling 2km. The hotel itself has a slightly faded look about it and could do with a makeover. The breakfast was good as was the bar.

Unfortunately there is a big construction on the bridge, so it’s noisy and dusty. The rooms are nice, even when the curtains are not covering the windows at all (make sure to bring a sleeping mask). The service at the breakfast is poor, young people with little enthusiasm. Everything else was great

- David (10/5): A few days in Moscow... - Excellent hotel, nicely decorated, good size suite room I stayed in (with complimentary bottle 9f prosecco in the suite), convenient restaurant and bar on site with friendly staff. Not much in the immediate area of the hotel, but conveniently located a short walk across the bridge to Red Square.

The location was perfect for touring the local attractions on foot, good eats, and a Starbucks 1 block away to kick start your day. The staff was very polite and friendly providing me with the best experience possible for my first trip to Moscow.

My opinion is they made a bad decision when they eliminated the second floor restaurant (with its beautiful views of the Kremlin & Red Square) & replaced it with a conference center that I noticed is not used very often. They moved the restaurant downstairs with a view onto a dirty street. Staff has been cut & is not as friendly as it once was. For reference- this is my thirty-first time I have stayed at Baltschug & probably will be last time. Very sad to see the hotel more than one-half empty.
- Elena (8/5): Great location for sightseeing - Kempinski is a classy hotel very conveniently located in the very heart of Moscow - Red Square is just a brief walk across the river away. Hotel has nice dining options, a wellness center, and is a brief walk away from Pyatnitskaya street where you can find loads of restaurants, bars, shops, a supermarket and a movie theatre. The rooms are always clean and have everything necessary. Even though the hotel is in good shape, it could use an update soon: things like TVs, phones, AC, etc are quite old. The staff speaks Russian and English, there's always someone at the door helping with the luggage. My check in experience though is usually not meeting expectations of a hotel this level: there's often only one person checking people in and I have waited in line over 15 minutes more than once. The check in is tedious, they ask for your ID and spend a lot of time scanning it and then checking and double checking things in the computer - it seems quite inefficient and confusing for guests.
- M (8/5): - I enjoyed staying there. Furniture and bathroom in the Deluxe room were old, Soviet style. The hotel is located on an island, so there is awful traffic trying to get to or leave the hotel territory. The pool is cold. Breakfast is amazing!

There was a large, loud celebration on the Friday night which ran past midnight which stopped me from sleeping. I told the night manager that they should have told me when I checked in that this would be occurring. When I checked out, I again brought it up. There was no sincere response and no offer to make it right. Very disappointed.

- James (10/5): Perfectly located classic hotel with great extras - Amazing location just over the bridge from Red Square. Great views of classic Moscow landmarks if you're lucky enough to get a room on the river side of the building. I was lucky enough to be upgraded to an amazing room and had a welcome bottle of wine waiting for me with a note from the GM (the joys of Hotels.com Gold status!) The gym is great, decent sized pool, free shoe-shining service each night. The bar is good, and has a comprehensive menu of great food. I did not try the expensive breakfast as it looked a bit like a sad and overpriced buffet. Staff all very helpful, concierge especially so. Would definitely stay here again when my travels bring me to Moscow.

The staff are all very professional and always helpful. There are good food choices albeit a it pricey. It is also an easy scenic walk to Red Square and all the activities there.I came here to write for a few days and found it very stimulating. Recommend it!

- natalia (6/5): Uncomfortable bed, nasty night manager - I booked a King size bed but was given a room with old uncomfratbale queen size bed. The room was spacious and clean with a park Zariadie. my husband is a big and tall guy and sleeping on Queen size bed is not the best option for us. We arrived to the room at midnight and I contacted front desk right away to ask to be moved to a room with a king size bed (which was specified in my booking) I was offered another room, which was much smaller and had same size bed, so at almost 1 am instead of resting we were walking back and force looking at rooms because front desk agent did not know which room has a king size bed. When we got back to the original room we received a call from the night manager, her first question was “so I don’t understand what is your problem?”, the women was nasty and was interrupting me every second, she basically would not let me speak. She explained to me that in the USA and in Russia king and queen size beds are not the same and my booking which says King bed is wrong and she can’t offer me room with king size bed unless I pay extra. So we had to sleep on queen size bed with old thin mattess, IT WAS WORSE BED i had ever slept on in any hotel I have ever stayed (no joke it was terrible) we didt sleep all night. Next morning I complained again and finally I got whghat I booked, a room with king size bed. Did not expect to fight for the room that I actually booked, especially in Balchug Kempinski and especially when the hotel was half empty. Such a shame.

- Antonina (10/5): Best View in Moscow - The hotel is wonderful, the pool is great, the only problem was the construction around the hotel, including the sidewalk area, which was full of holes--there were no caution signs. We love the Kempinski, stay there all the time. It's not the best location in terms of accessibility--you can't really walk to downtown Moscow and the traffic crossing the bridge is catastrophic, but the views of the Kremlin and the new Zaryadye Park cannot be beat. Breathtaking. And getting a car is easy.

We enjoyed walking to the Red Square almost every evening during our stay. Visiting the Kremlin was also just a walk away. It really made us feel that we really were in Moscow!

Staff are very friendly, efficient & all coped very well with my lack of Russian! The last time I stayed there was 2010. Lots had changed it seemed to my ailing memory, except maybe decor of the rooms. Very enjoyable though & will certainly look to stay there again next time I'm in Moscow

- Verified traveler (4/5): Not on par with the cost. - The stay itself was good, but getting in was a nightmare. They were unable to find our hotels.com reservation (even after showing it to them) and demanded payment in order to secure a new one. After asking us no less than 4 times during the 30 minute checkin process whether we wanted a king size bed, gave us a double instead. Quickly corrected their error and refunded us in the morning, but it was still a sour experience.

- Nate (6/5): Nice hotel, great location - The hotel is close to the Kremlin and red square. Its nicely situated on a quiet street. However, its not a modern hotel. You can see that the rooms have been renovated, but it can in no way be compared to a 5 star hotel. You can see the old curtains, the small stains on the rug, the shower water temperature needs at least 3 minutes to get to a normal and comfortable level. No slippers. Otherwise, its decent. The currency change ATM, frequently has problems. Other then that good hotel. The staff is polite, courteous and friendly.
- Elena (8/5): Hotel Baltschug Kempinski Moscow - I was disappointed in this hotel. The only good thing about the hotel is the location. The room that I stayed in was no where near to a 5 star hotel. Peter 1 hotel was much better in my view than Hotel Baltschug Kempinski. Not worth the money.
