• Z6588NMeileenw (10/5): More a beautiful Home than a hotel - Our stay at the Aberdeen Lodge for nine days was a unique and lovely experience. We felt the accommodations were much more like staying in someone's beautiful home than being guests in a hotel. This feeling came from the Aberdeen's location nestled in the center of a charming neighborhood with families walking by pushing strollers or walking their children to school. When we arrived, the host, Ann, greeted us on the doorstep of the lodge and brought us into the sitting room for tea and cookies. She shared maps of the local area and of Dublin and circled restaurants, sights to see, and bus and train stops (which were within in five minutes from the Aberdeen). Ann was always gracious and available. We strongly recommend that guests take advantage of the full Irish breakfast option that Ann prepares. Each morning we looked forward to her delicious Irish porridge topped with a generous helping of fresh fruit followed by poached or scrambled eggs. I particularly appreciated Ann preparing my eggs with soy milk. There were also other tasty options on the menu! We loved sitting and eating in the elegant dining room looking out at the beautiful flowers and green lawn of their garden. Often Ann would greet us as we returned in the afternoon or evening after being tourists to ask about our day. Every conversation with Ann was a joy. We highly recommend the Aberdeen Lodge for anyone's trip to Dublin.

• 373brentf (10/5): A Delightful Stay - Aberdeen Lodge is absolutely beautiful in a quiet area of Dublin on a bus route to city centre and near the DART line. An 1880ish mansion is wonderfully maintained, and tastefully decorated. We had a wonderful stay as Ann, the owner, and the staff were friendly and helpful, Ann was wonderful as she gave us loads of information about Dublin, surrounding area. She helped get tickets for Kilmainham Gaol and booked a taxi. These little things made the stay that more enjoyable. Aberdeen Lodge has deservedly earned all its awards.
• BRENT (10/5): It is a wonderful place to stay for a day or a week. - An 1880 house that has been very well maintained with charm and beauty but not feeling old and stuffy. It is warm and cozy. Beautifully furnished, fresh flowers spacious patio and garden area. Ideally located on a bus route and a short walk to the DART trains. A quaint village area also within a short walking distance. Ann, the host is delightful, very helpful and knowledgeable of the area. She is a delight. The staff are also very friendly and accomodating when necessary. An absolute delight to stay in I cannot think of an any negative to say.

Staying here is a very local, human experience. Staff and owners are themselves, while obviously being professional. Breakfast is fantastic. Will be back! Perhaps the sound isolation between rooms can be improved, although for a small, historic building it is perhaps not viable. Not a vital problem though.

The hospitality is simply unmatched: on the day of our arrival, Anne welcomed us with an orientation to the area, its amenities including public transportation, and offered some suggestions for unplanned travel days. The staff in the dining room and housekeeping are exceedingly professional, warm, and welcoming. Sandymount is a wonderful - short - jaunt from the hustle and bustle of Dublin where there are fine restaurants and a local pub with Irish trad music every Wednesday night. We recommend Aberdeen Lodge without reservation.
• Anonymous (10/5): A beautiful, charming stay a short walk from UCD -- a very warm welcome to Ireland! - My stay at Aberdeen Lodge exceeded my expectations. Immediately upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised by the care and attention the owners Pat and Ann showed. Pat welcomed me into the sitting room, offered me tea and coffee, and took the time to talk me through the surrounding area, the bus system, local attractions, etc. The entire lodge is beautiful, from the dining rooms to the bedrooms, and it is conveniently located a 20-30 minute walk from UCD. Getting to stay at Aberdeen Lodge and get to know the lovely family who owns it was a gift.

About 100 ft from bus stop, a block and a half to the train, either or can get you anywhere you want to go. Walking distance to restaurants, pubs and shopping. Unbelievable breakfasts, large back yard with comfortable seating. Friendly pets, but they aren’t a nuisance.

We arrived about 10:30 pm and greeting and orientation were well done. However, didn't realize windows were open and heat was off. It was rather cool in the room.

• julieiP4061XH (10/5): Immediately felt at home! - Aberdeen Lodge was one of the highlights of our trip. Pat and Ann are delightful hosts and immediately made us feel at home. Minutes after walking through the door we were offered a hot cup of tea and homemade cookies. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The bed and pillows made for a good night’s rest and there were lots of fresh towels. An endless supply of shortbread cookies was also a nice touch. The location is a few steps away from the bus stop and it’s just a short stroll to the train station, beach, and the village of Sandymount where there are shops and restaurants. We particularly enjoyed the breakfast each morning as well as playing with the two resident golden retrievers, Robin and Hope. I have to say that our experience was certainly more than 5/5 and any return visits to Ireland will most definitely include a stay at Aberdeen Lodge. After all, it’s like going home… only better!

Breakfast was always delicious and we sampled many items on offer. Juice was fresh squeezed and coffee hot with pot at table. Eggs were cooked perfectly and all was made to order. Very convenient to not have to walk into the village for breakfast. On one morning we had an early appointment in Dublin. They were accommodating to let us come a bit early but having a 7 am option might have been nice. All worked well to get to our appointment so no problem.

The service was wonderful and very Personal. We loved the location as well as the homemade breakfast every morning. • Alec (10/5): - The Aberdeen Lodge is a cozy and friendly place to stay in Dublin. The staff and service were excellent. My fiancé and I enjoyed the added breakfast, for which there were vegetarian options, and we used the readily available public transportation nearby. A bus stop was within a 2–3 minute walk, and the DART station was less than 10 minutes away by walking. The DART station was a great option for seeing the coast, while the bus stop gets you easily to the city center. We also really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere of the lodge's neighborhood - it was a nice escape from the business of city center in the evenings.

Pat made sure every part of our short time in Dublin was terrific by providing great advice on transport, sights, restaurants, etc.
• Vibor (6/5): Pleasant - The staff was friendly and pleasant, and the place looked charming. They were kind to let me leave my luggage there before departing for the airport after the event. The location is nice, safe, lush, and green. I needed to cut my trip short by a day due to a family emergency, but they were not willing to deduct that from the invoice, so I had to pay for an extra day, even though I hadn't been able to stay as long as planned. Also, there's no lift (escalator), so I had to bring my luggage down when checking out on my own (while being on a post-op recovery). It's an old lodge so that you can hear your neighbors in every neighboring room due to the lack of insulation.

It has all been said; the ambience, the convenience, the quiet and safe neighbourhood, the breakfast, the rooms and cleanliness and above all the friendliness and helpfulness of Pat, Ann, and staff. Absolutely impossible to fault on any criterion!! I was in Dublin for a less than happy event, but the stay at Aberdeen Lodge was a positive highlight and gem of my visit. Thank you Ann, Pat and staff. PS: No one mentioned the stewed prunes for breakfast; one word - Fabulous!!

• Joanne (10/5): Beautiful and tranquil - This is a gorgeous Lodge/Hotel near Sandymount Village. It is a 10 min walk to Sandymount village and a 10 min walk to St Vincents Hospital. Very quiet setting in a beautiful residential area, not far from Sandymount strand. The dart is nearby and there is a bus stop a minute walk from the lodge. Room was well appointed, clean and comfortable. The hosts are very kind and attentive. I would stay again and recommend to friends and family. Nothing, everything great.

They both go out of their way to ensure your stay with them is pleasant and comfortable . And this can be something as simple as an ice cold glass of water upon arriving ,to a hot cup of tea , or advice on the best pub in Sandymount Village for a pint . And the hospitality of your hosts is not confined to only them . The person who will carry your bags to your room , greet you at breakfast in the morning , and tidy - up your room are all kind and gracious people who go out of their way to make you feel welcomed . Be sure to arrive hungry for Ann's breakfasts - there are 3 choices and all delicious ! Her porridge is to die for as are her buttermilk pancakes . The parlor and rooms are clean and comfortable . A minor issue is the tap water in your bathroom is never quite cold but the staff is very quick to fill up a jug for you from the filtered tap in the kitchen and it is delicious . We look forward to reuniting with our hosts at The Aberdeen Lodge on our next visit to Dublin !

Ann and Pat are so helpful and accommodating. We really felt at home. I loved having coffee on the patio in the morning with Robin and Hope, their two Golden Retrievers. Their house is on major bus routes so getting around was easy especially to get to downtown Dublin. I can't say enough about Aberdeen Lodge. We loved our time there.

The hotel is beautiful old house in a great location, good travel connections, near bus routes and dart- you can buy a leap card at the hotel which is handy. A short walk from Sandymount village with shops, pubs and restaurants. Excellent breakfast cooked by Anne. Good quality produce, decent portions served at the table. I would definitely recommend this hotel for location, service, quality and a friendly Irish welcome.

• Petra (10/5): Beautiful place in Sandymount. - This is our beloved place, it's the third time we've stayed here. And each time we got a nice welcome in comfy chairs with coffee, tea with milk and homemade peanut cookies. The host also gave us an Easter present, thank you very much. Room and bathroom perfectly prepared. Every day there was cleaning, changing towels, refilling coffee and tea and toiletries - we thank the entire staff for such service. As the hostess confirmed, only a few things had changed around here since last year :-) but what hadn't changed was a great breakfast: Irish breakfast, toast with butter and marmalade, scrambled eggs with salmon, pancakes, granola with yoghurt and fruit...coffee or tea with milk, of course. Nor has the smell of the white lilies that greet you at the reception and in the drawing room. The location of the accommodation is in a quiet part, just outside Dublin city centre as well as Sandymount Beach. We really love it here. We look forward to our next reunion.
• Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional - This was our second stay at the Aberdeen Lodge. Ann and Pat are the perfect hosts. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel welcome - with tea and biscuits of course! The lodge is perfectly located just SE of Dublin Center, within a two minute walk to the Sydney Parade train stop and with a bus stop just outside the door. Our room was comfy with a very strong shower. The view from the room overlooked the lush back garden. Ann provided a delicious breakfast and the morning we left very early, she provided us a to-go bag with a sandwich, apple, parfait, and biscuits! Thanks to Pat, we saved time and money using public transport between the airport and Belfast. Ann also gave us great recommendations for hiking in Wicklow and Glendalough. This is the perfect accommodation and we will be back! Nothing! This B&B has everything we want for a stay in Dublin. You can't go wrong!

The host went above and beyond to give us breakfast even though we had an early morning flight. The breakfast was fresh and wonderful. I suggested this place to my sister and will be coming back!

• ShelaghD63 (10/5): A lovely find! - If your travels in Ireland take you to Dublin avoid the hustle of the downtown and stay at the Aberdeen Lodge where it is quieter, but still conveniently located near buses and trams that move you easily anywhere in the Dublin area. The house is beautiful with rooms that are comfortable and tastefully furnished. The hosts, Pat and Ann make you feel welcome in their home. The breakfasts are a treat as there are several options each morning, each one of them delicious. It would be difficult to a find a nicer place to stay while you are away from home.

• 50cartiery (10/5): BRAVO FRANCE, BRAVO ABERDEEN LODGE !! - What a wonderful getaway to Dublin to support a victorious French team during a crazy weekend !! This stay was all the more enjoyable because we discovered, with Aberdeen Lodge, a fantastic new B&B. The hosts who had hosted us for over 20 years had taken a well-deserved retirement, so we needed to find a nice new place in the Ballsbridge area that we love so much. Once again, the Routard's advice was particularly valuable. Aberdeen Lodge is more a small family hotel than a traditional B&B, but the atmosphere is identical in every way. Pat and Ann, the owners, and the small team that Ann manages with great expertise, took great care of us during our four-day stay. It even started the week before our arrival, with two phone calls from Ann to confirm our accommodation needs and provide the best possible solution. Upon our arrival, Pat presented us a wide range of services, which we thoroughly enjoyed. They provided us with public transportation card, a map of the surrounding area, a map of Dublin, taxi calls, and a takeaway breakfast... nothing was missing. Finally, I'd like to highlight two points that are important to many people: - the impressive cleanliness of the place, in every nook and cranny - the delicious breakfast prepared by Ann and the team. There's no buffet, but with a rich and varied menu, it's as much fun as at very good Parisian sunday brunches. And of course, the price is nothing compared. In conclusion, I hope I don't have to wait for the next Ireland-France in two years to come and transform this magnificent try. Perhaps a Leinster Racing match.

Upon arrival, you're immediately greeted with a warm welcome, engaging conversation, and a comforting cup of tea. Pat took care of everything for us—from organizing Leap cards for the buses to providing clear directions and even booking our rental car. The attention to detail and genuine hospitality were outstanding. Breakfast was delicious, offering a wonderful variety each morning. The rooms and hallways brought back memories of the charming Italian countryside, beautifully scented with fresh lilies. The lodge's two friendly golden retrievers added to the joyful atmosphere, eagerly greeting guests with wagging tails. Having spent four delightful nights at Aberdeen Lodge, I couldn't imagine choosing any other accommodation in Dublin. Can't recommend it enough.

• Maps620752 (10/5): Begin your Irish journey here. - Step off the plane in Dublin and head to Sandymount for a stay at Aberdeen Lodge - a short distant from the city center by taxi, Uber or a very clean/convenient ( leaves every 10mins) bus. Ring the bell and Pat will welcome you like family- (tea, coffee, homemade scone? ) Share your itinerary with him before or during your stay and he'll tweak your plan with local favorites and common sense logistics. The rooms are lovely, the garden is grand and Ann, Pat's wife, makes a wonderful Irish breakfast with fresh fruits and baked goods. Stroll to the beach ( strand) stopping at the town green to watch the local children play and don't miss O'Reilly's pub on the way back especially if there is a rugby or football match on the TV. Several great restaurants on the streets surrounding the green. Super cute, super safe. Fantastic way to start your vacation in Ireland.

• TexasDasher (10/5): Authentic Irish Hospitality - A wonderful 3-night stay at the Aberdeen Lodge with authentic Irish hospitality! When you come here you’re getting more than just accommodations, you’re entering a home. Pat and Ann own and operate this hotel as well as live here, along with their two beautiful children, two dogs and one cat! They couldn’t have been more warm, charming or helpful, helping us with everything from how to use the bus and DART train (both very close by), to dinner reservations, taxi arrangements, and one night Pat even drove us to dinner himself! The lodge and rooms are lovely and authentic, and very quiet. The beds were very comfortable, plenty of hot water and water pressure in the showers. The sitting room was the best, as that is where we would visit with Pat, Ann, and several other world travelers as they came and went while sipping hot tea or coffee. Definitely get the breakfast as it was amazing and a great way to start the day. Also, while there are restaurants walking distance from the lodge, they were only for lunch and dinner. But definitely go for dinner at the Merrion restaurant, a 15-minute walk, for a wonderful meal with great service and Irish atmosphere. Make a reservation, but go early and enjoy a pint at the bar before dinner while watching a rugby match on the tv’s. If you’re wanting new and modern, this isn’t the place, but for comfort, authenticity and genuine charm, you can’t beat Aberdeen Lodge!

But what really touched me was their kindness on my last day. I wasn’t feeling well before my flight, and without hesitation, they offered me a late checkout at no extra charge so I could rest a little longer. That level of care is rare, and I appreciated it so much. If you’re looking for a place that feels welcoming and personal, this is it. I’d absolutely stay here again!
