- Todd (10/5): Absolutely lovely!! - Such a lovely hotel!! The staff is so nice and welcoming. Coast is a terrific restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner there . Excited to visit again soon ! The bed could have been put on the other wall so that when you lay in it you can see the ocean .

- Salo (10/5): Amazing stay - Amazing staff! Always happy to help with whatever you ask from them. The place is planned down to the smallest detail, both in aesthetics and comfort. The food is very tasty, loved everything. It was a bit chilly during our stay, so we couldn’t really enjoy the pool, although we did see other people using it. Not the hotel’s fault of course. Hopefully next time ;)
- haris (7/5): - The location is excellent for my taste, as it is right in front of the beach and you can ride a bike around the entire area and really enjoy the vibe. * The rooms do not have good soundproofing or insulation from outside noise. * The bathroom has no sound insulation from the bedroom and offers no privacy at all. * The room is not as spacious as it should be. * The restaurant and bar do not meet the standards of a 5-star hotel. I have stayed at both hotels of the group, which are next to each other, and they both have the same issues.
- Andreas (10/5): Eines der besten Hotels in super Lage. - Top Lage des Hotels im Ralph Lauren Style. Die Ruhe und Gelassenheit im Hotel ist hervorragend. ALLE Mitarbeiter sind super freundlich, selbst die Hausmeister grüßen auf der Straße. Mega Wasserdruck in der Dusche wie ich ihn noch nie in einem Hotel gesehen habe. Ein tolles Hotel mit einzigartigem Flair. Ich würde immer wieder dort übernachten. Damit wird der Urlaub in LA/ Santa Monica zum Erlebnis. Preis ist schon heftig aber es ist halt eines der besten Hotels in Santa Monica. Das Badezimmer inkl. der Toilette ist leider extrem hellhörig, schade bei solch einem Hotel!

- Ashford (10/5): Shutters on the beach - Excellent customer service. The staff was very friendly, and very attentive to details. I let them know it was my birthday and the had a beautiful slice of cake sent up with a glass of champagne. The hotel was was perfect very quaint and the view from my room was amazing. The room looked out to the beach. The food was yummy also. I was able to walk to the pier and you could also walk along the beach. Everything was perfect for me.
- Moodman1 (10/5): Beautiful hotel on the beach! - This is a beautiful hotel on the beach. Great location. Short walking distance to downtown Santa Monica. Great amenities- we used the bikes to ride to Venice and around the canals. Service is top notch at this hotel! The lobby is also beautiful. Coffee in the morning and nice music in the evening. We visited for our daughter's birthday and they surprised her with a slice of b-day cake and a card! So thoughtful! I strongly recommend getting the package that includes breakfast. You can also have breakfast at their sister hotel Casa Del Mar. Whenever we visit our daughter in LA, Shutters on the Beach or Casa Del Mar are my favorite places to stay.

- Mary (8/5): Beautiful place to stay with direct access to the beach - the comforts of the room were impeccable. products in the room top notch. the small balcony with shutters was a great in-room amenity. the wing of the hotel was only reachable by taking two banks of elevators. the lobby lounge was not full on the evening I sat down there, but service was non-existent except at a few tables by the standing bar. I went into the restaurant bar and that was very good service.

The events marketing team is wonderful - Li-ling, Maddie, Saule make planning a wedding easy and happy. Great apparel choices in the gift shop and Leila makes it so fun. - Timalnick (10/5): Such a Special and Iconic Hotel - Stayed hear 2 nights before heading to Japan. Great experience with very hospitable staff. Loved sun bathing on the pool deck overlooking the beach near Santa Monica pier. There is bar and restaurant service on the pool deck. Also coast is a great restaurant…we ate breakfast there twice and loved it. They also have a very nice gym. Best thing about the Hotel is its location.

- SallyP448 (10/5): Lived up to expectations - A hotel that has always been on my bucket list and I was certainly not disappointed. It was just fabulous. A wonderful position just on the beach with a boardwalk right there for morning walks. Staff and service were great and the room so comfortable and beautifully furnished with a view over the pool area to the beach. Could not fault it. Would love to have stayed longer and will definitely try to return.

The place is beautiful and charming - exterior and interior, wonderfully decorated, perfectly maintained and with an attention to detail that distinguishes the very best hotels. Location is also great, with free bicycles to explore the area. 2 things could be improved: the pool is a bit small but the real inconvenience is that it has too much chlorine, I got a rash. Also, the food (lobby & room service) could be improved. Breakfast is good but breakfast is easy :) Best hotel is Los Angeles for me!

- Lupe (10/5): I absolutely loved my stay and next time I will stay there for at least one week. - The location was perfect. I had a view of the ocean and the pool area. The food was 5 star quality. I would have liked a pina colada or a similar tropical drink but the bar staff at the pool didn't know how to make one. The bartender at the pool.
- Donna (10/5): The stay was a trip we will never forget. - My sister and I had a suite. The room was quiet and had plenty of space for us. The hotel is located on the beach, which is amazing. The outdoor patio was excellent for breakfast. We rented bikes from the hotel and rode the boardwalk to Venice Beach for some shopping and lunch. The staff went above my expectations. We were on the first floor overlooking a parking lot. Everything else was perfect and I will stay here next time I visit.

- Sho715 (10/5): Wonderful Stay - Perfect location, right on the beach. Studio king had pull out couch for our two kids. Big room and bathroom. 5 minute walk to the pier and 15 minute walk to 3rd St Promenade. Hotel staff were professional, kind, and went out of their way to make our stay special. Huge shout out to Hakeem at check in, and Sergio (hotel car driver). If you travel 3 miles or less, hotel offers free rides and if you’re lucky, Sergio will be your driver who will serenade you (upon request) with opera! Hotel restaurants are great and free drink tickets were appreciated. Can’t wait to return!

Lots of homeless/strung out people which is so sad because of all the money that is supporting getting everyone help. Many stores have moved out of the shopping district because of the theft…

- Stefan (8/5): Great location but not very good quality to price ratio - The hotel is located very good on the beach, we had two very nice balconies with a very nice view, confortable valet parking, nice decorated room First of all, there was a gap between the balcony doors where cold air was coming in, and this was a problem because we happened to catch a cold spell, with nighttime temperatures dropping below 58 degrees. This is unacceptable for a hotel in this price range. Then, breakfast was not included in the already very high room rate, and the restaurant was also serving outside customers for breakfast, which meant we had to sit at uncomfortable tables and wait quite a long time before we could order.

Der Zustand d - Shutters on the Beach überzeugt nach wie vor durch seine einmalige Lage direkt am Strand und ein Personal, das in jeder Hinsicht herausragend ist. Vom Empfang über den Service bis hin zur Betreuung während des gesamten Aufenthaltes – das Team ist aufmerksam, herzlich und professionell, ohne dabei aufgesetzt zu wirken. Hier fühlt man sich sofort willkommen und bestens aufgehoben. Allerdings zeigt sich, dass das Hotel selbst in die Jahre gekommen ist. Trotz des charmanten Beach-House-Stils könnten Zimmer, Mobiliar und einige öffentliche Bereiche eine spürbare Modernisierung vertragen, um dem hohen Preisniveau und dem Premium-Anspruch vollständig gerecht zu werden. Besonders deutlich wird die Diskrepanz im gastronomischen Bereich. Die Küchenleistung bleibt leider hinter den Erwartungen zurück: Qualität und Kreativität der Speisen entsprechen nicht dem Standard, den man bei einem Haus dieser Kategorie erwartet. Hier wäre eine klare Weiterentwicklung wünschenswert – sowohl kulinarisch als auch im Hinblick auf Konsistenz und Präsentation. Fazit: Ein Hotel mit unvergleichlicher Atmosphäre, exzellentem Personal und einem Standort, der kaum zu übertreffen ist. Doch Substanz und Küche benötigen ein Update, um das Gesamtpaket wieder auf das Niveau zu bringen, das Shutters on the Beach aus der Vergangenheit kennt und verdient.

- lorrainesfavourite (10/5): the view and location is just sensational - the location is sublime santa monica may be on its knees but shutters continues to shine like a gem and they have not rested in their laurels but they have invested improved and refreshed staff are great.......many are log term which is always a good sign food is great I have one gripe with the $55 resort charge which is shabby........i think it ought be on the room rate which would be more honest expression meantime whilst i disagree with their pricing policy we look forward to our next visit

- holidaychicLondon (10/5): Luxurious old charm hotel - This is our 2nd time staying here, the 1st was two years ago and usually we don’t like returning to properties… but needless to say we will be back again! We arrived at the hotel at around 5.45am from an early overnight flight from Kauai.. we were shattered so we were thrilled to arrive and get checked in swiftly by Liz on the desk who switched some things around and got us into a room.. the room was gorgeous, tastefully decorated and furnished like we remembered.. The lobby has been redecorated and is even more stunning than before. The pool area is immaculate with a bar, hot tub and lots of sun beds.. We had breakfast and lunch at Coast -both delicious.. We had a drink in the bar before and after we went out for a local dinner which was lovely listening to the chilled live music with great service. This is truly a first class hotel which on both occasions has exceeded our expectations.. I’m at a loss reading some of the negative reviews..

- Alyson (10/5): - Rm 532 ocean view… wonderful with jacuzzi bath & candle, Dyson hairdryer. The toiletries were so delicately scented, Hotel lounge area is used for a lot of external meetings, which can be noisy and not resident friendly, and a friend we dined with said the lounge is extremely busy at weekends. So, not sure what areas they have for hotel guests. Beach and boardwalk lovely, but a lot of homeless men around and not sure l would feel safe at night out walking.
