Guest Reviews
- Brian (3/5): Its a great pub - The pub! The greeting from staff on arrival was unfriendly and I was quickly directed to my room. No pleasantries or sufficient information provided, for example, fire safety information, available food etc.

- bmflavell (9/5): - Comfortable stay, great night's sleep, 2nd floor and not bothered by any noise from pub below. Great location!
- Simpson (8/5): -
- Anne (8/5): - Staff very friendly and helpful
- Claire (8/5): Was a lovely comfortable stay - The property was in a good location for me and was lovely and clean! The room was so hot even with the windows open!
Couldn’t get the WiFi to work
- Jim (8/5): Great for central Leytonstone - Very central for Leytonstone, everything very close. Room was a decent size and comfortable Understandably quite noisy because of location
- S.T.W. (10/5): -
- Elizabeth (9/5): Lovely weekend away. Very friendly staff. Really nice room, quality furnishings, very clean and modern. We didn’t eat at - Lovey modern rooms, great facilities. No lift (fine for us) and the rooms were quite warm.
- Aleksandraviciute (3/5): Not the best of stays - Location We stayed in annas room on 3rd floor. Didn't like the room it was a bit small compared to other rooms we stayed in and most importantly the windows were not opening and it was very hot. Also had a weird smell inside that we couldn't get rid of because we couldn't open the windows. We stay here regularly and this room was definitely a disappointment
- Simon (10/5): I love staying in gastro type pubs as a far better alternative to characterless hotel chains. Thie Red Luon is amongst t - Lovely and authentically decorated bedroom. Great bar and fab atmosphere topped only by the outside enclosed courtyard. What a great find and barely 2 min walk to tube. N/A
- Helena (10/5): Mjög góð - Staðsetningin hentaði mér vel Engin lyfta
- Lynda (7/5): Overall location and the staffs - Location and staffs Wasn’t able to watch tv or use my laptop or phone due to WiFi problems!! I have to limit my data usage also my son wanted to do his revisions !!
- Martina (10/5): Great room, great location & very pleasant stay. If we’re in the area again we will consider returning. - The room and toilet were very clean and the bed was really comfortable.
Great location, just around the corner from the tube. I have nothing negative to say about it, was very happy with the property.
- Sharon (10/5): Great stay . Highly recommended - It was extremely well located
Close to tube stations & bus stops
Lots of shops near by
Great facilities Stairs are quite steep so if you have poor mobility be aware

- Sackey (10/5): Comfy, stress free and excellent value for money. - Immaculately clean. Easy check in/key return. Tea/ and cold water provided. Nice TV with all channels and apps working. Comfiest bed I've probably ever slept in. Staff went out of their way to accommodate storage for our bike. We got a lucky discounted deal due to booking.com but even at full price would have been worth it. We've stayed in our fair share of budget hotels and this was only 20 -30 more per night than we'd usually pay(at full price) and totally worth it. We are fairly local and stayed here because of maintenance work in our home but I will definitely be recommending to friends and family when they visit. Many thanks 👍 The WiFi was a bit unreliable but wasn't an issue for us as we had mobile data.
- Angela (10/5): Very comfortable stay - Location was ideal as it was a short walk from the tube station. The room was a good size, nicely decorated and the bed was very comfortable. It was nice to have the nespresso machine with a few coffee pods. There was also a fridge with bottled water. The bathroom was modern and very clean.
The room was above the busy bar but the room was nice and quiet. We were very happy with everything.
- Nicholas (9/5): Lovely place to stay - Clean and quiet, nicely decorated
- Catherine (10/5): - Great location, immaculately clean room, beautifully furnished
- Marie (7/5): Ok but not worth the re - Room was lovely and comfortable
Not too hot or cold Wi-Fi was unstable
Smell of pee in corridor
The bed shook when something was done downstairs, think it may be door slamming

- Jamie (5/5): - Room and bed were amazing, clean and very comfy, very convenient location to everything. You can't control the heating in the room, it's controlled centrally and was extremely hot. The hotel rooms are two floors up and there's no lift, and the sound proofing was very poor in a very busy street, could hear people talking and all the traffic at all times. Maid didn't clean the room the first day, despite leaving the tag to clean up the room and there's no receptionist, or contact and this morning, at 7 am, I could not get back into the hotel as the key stopped working.
- Katie (8/5): Nice decor - The décor and design in the room bathroom was really nice The side door to get into the hotel would get jammed by the dead bolt.
It was confusing how to check in, and very busy at the bar, so with coats and bags even 10 mins felt a while to check in.
- Frederick (10/5): Delightful - Perfectly positioned for my needs. Just trendy enough without making me feel like an old bastard Room was a bit hot, having had the day’s sun on the window all day… but I’m splitting hairs.
- Soumya (7/5): -
- Thomas (8/5): Very good -
- Isaac (7/5): Good -
- Luca_st (8/5): Everything you need to have a decent stay - The bathroom was clean and spacious, the bed also seemed comfortable and the room was well soundproofed The windows could not be opened that much and since the floor was carpeted I would have preferred to let more air circulate
- Dimitris (8/5): Very good -
- Deborah (8/5): noise spoilt my stay - really nice comfy room, very welcoming staff Rhe noise. i checked before I booked, nothing on, on a Wednesday night,i was wrong and I felt as if i was going crazy. I learnt they hadn't mentioned salsa class in the ballroom below my room , finished just after 11, but ruined my stay unfortunately

- Gareth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Suzanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Annamaria (10/5): Exceptional - The room is tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable.
- Calvin (7/5): Good - Friendly staff. Cosy room. Attentive service. great bar. Noise from private function downstairs on Saturday night (ended at 1am). Fire alarm going off multiple times during the night - told by staff this was caused by somebody setting it off during the party
- Valkana (10/5): Valkana Ivanova - The service was top-notch. The room they gave us was great, clean. It exceeded my expectations. I recommend it 100%🥰😍
- Danielle (8/5): Very good -
- Victor (9/5): Superb -
- Esther (8/5): Very comfortable. - Location very good, although we stayed due to a gig. Very comfortable room. Would be good if breakfast was offered.

- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location
- Sophie (9/5): Superb -
- Sophie (9/5): Superb - Everything, facilities great and the beds are super comfortable. Also really quiet.
- Elizabeth (4/5): Clean room and comfortable bed, but issues with access and room facilities, booking was not value for money. - Convenient location near to good transport connections to a range of areas in the city. Close proximity to our daughter’s flat - we were visiting and spending 3 days with her. Relatively quiet location, but close to shopping, bars and restaurants. The room was pleasantly decorated. The bed was comfortable and spacious. The only contact we had with staff was on arrival when we were shown to our room by the manager and given our key. No checks to see if we were comfortable or had requests on additional services or local information were made. Our room “Charles” was on the second floor and was reached via 4 long flights of stairs. The stairs were dark and poorly-lit with lighting automatically coming on when certain points were passed. These stairs would be difficult to climb by elderly guests - my wife broke her femur a couple of years ago and still finds it difficult to climb such long stairways. It was not clear on booking that rooms were on the second and third floors with no lift access. In the bathroom, the pop-up waste outlet on the washbasin was missing so it was impossible to fill the washbasin for washing properly. The shower is located over the bath and functions well, however, an elderly guest or one with infirmities will find it extremely difficult to climb over the high edge into the bath. The bath is quite narrow in width, so the base of the shower area is curved giving a small flat area on which to stand. An anti-slip mat should have been provided to reduced the risk of slipping in the shower. Clothes storage was non-existent. Two coat hangers were provided for hanging items of clothing. A small table and two chairs were the only other means of storing clothes. A small wardrobe or covered hanging rail would be more suitable options. The only mirror was in the bathroom. A more functional option would be to have a mirror close to an electrical socket which would allow a guest to style their hair properly after showering. No breakfast was on offer and coffee/tea facilities were minimal and basic.
- Marie (10/5): Great 1 night stay - Great place. On Leytonstone High Road and a couple of minutes walk from the tube. We had food at the pub which was excellent along with the service. Pub was busy (Bank Holiday) with a great atmosphere but got a table for two. Hotel room had everything we needed complete with coffee machine and extra water. Bathroom was well stocked with toiletries: shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Iron and iron and ironing board along with plenty of hanging space. Very comfortable room and spacious. Staff were lovely, helpful and friendly. Recommend. There was nothing to dislike.
- Bevan (10/5): Exceptional - Location and rooms great
- Richard (10/5): Will be back again for sure - our children live in Leytonstone and we are from Birmingham- maybe we can get a discount i - Amazing - immaculate, comfortable Warm, great pillows Nothing - we stayed on the Queen Mary room... top of the stairs - all 67 of them ... the view across London was worth . Best view in East London
- Sarah (8/5): A great short stay. Excellent food in the red lion pub, great value for money. - Very good.
One small consideration would be a small kettle as water for tea from the coffee pod machine was not hot enough. Also would be a nice touch to offer a small discount on food in the restaurant downstairs ie:10%
- Barry (9/5): Superb - Very clean, quiet and comfortable Minor points about the bathroom door sticking but not a big issue
- Oksana (9/5): Superb - Cleanness was spotless. The reception guy was very polite and took as to the room, which is much appreciated. For the amount of money you get everything that you need. I liked everything
- Federico (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicola (8/5): Very good -
- Rodziejczak (8/5): Very good -
- Jean (8/5): It was fine for our needs - it was near where we needed to be. - The room was nice and clean - decent shower and a reasonable view. But it was on the top floor! It was on the very top floor and with suitcases that was a little tricky. We arrived on a Saturday night and the pub noise carried up to the room.
I thought it was a bit pricey and can't understand why Monday night was much more than either Saturday or Sunday - 124 as opposed to 74 and 64.
- Vanessa (10/5): So much more than a high street pub - Fabulous, stylish and great location, with an amazing ballroom upstairs .
- Bobby (10/5): Exceptional -
- Guy (8/5): Very good -
- Sue (8/5): Comfortable and clean with great location - The location was great All those stairs to our room at the top of the hotel
- O'neill (8/5): Lovely room and lovely staff - No toothpaste
- Muhammad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Noble (5/5): Passable - Nice decor, comfortable bed, nice shower. No breakfast available. No plug in basin. Safe was broken. No mirror in the bedroom so couldn't use hairdryer in front of a mirror. Lighting was poor so couldn't read In bed.
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional - Cool vibe, good location, great value
- Matt (10/5): Short weekend stay lovely hotel - Very easy to get to, rooms were a good size and no hassle with access.
- Cerys (10/5): Great experience overall would stay again. - Lovely staff, comfy beds, all the facilities needed in the room, clean and spacious enough for two people, cozy room.
- Mervyn (10/5): Exceptional - Room was very clean and comfortable and located in a very accessible place The stairs can be noisy depending on who is walking on them
- Jeremy (8/5): Small room with very comfortable bed and decent shower. - Small room with very comfortable bed and decent shower. On top floor so away from the street noise. Couple of minutes walk to tube. Good for one night. Few maintenance issues: TV didn't seem to be working together (turned on but nothing else) with the wall lights either side. Shower tap loose.
- Brennan (8/5): Very good - Lovely cosy room, quiet and clean. Perfect for overnight stay near work.
- Emma (8/5): Very good -
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennifer (5/5): Passable -
- Hamna (10/5): Hotel gave a mix offer antique, luxury and Victorian style vibes! - AMAZING STAFF MEMBERS!! Very helpful and friendly, hotel gave a mix of antique, luxury and Victorian style vibes! Everything was just wonderful and met my expectations!!! 100% recommended Nothing to dislike
- Ashley (8/5): Very good -
- Ndue (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bahi (9/5): Superb - Very nice staff and venue. Comfortable, well appointed room with good beds and shower. Coffee machine (Nespreso) worked well. We attended an event at the ballroom in the same building so this was the perfect place to stay.
- Michelle (10/5): Lovely and cosy - Lovely and cosy, staff very accommodating nothing was too much trouble. I was there with my daughter attending a funeral and I couldn't of asked for any more. There is a lot of stairs. But if I had realised I would have asked for the bottom floor so that was my fault really. Staff offered to carry our bags for us, so again, could ask for more
- Gary (1/5): This hotel is no longer dealing with booking. com as we found out when we arrived. This is the 3rd t -
