- Volker-Meier (6/5): Old style, somewhat run down - We, 3 adults and 2 children, stayed there for a couple of days. It's good enough for 5 people, 5 is one to many. Hence, one had to sleep on the sofa bed in the living room, which is not really a nice option due to noise and bright light in the early morning.
The building itself and the reception area has a lot of style. The rooms themselves, however, felt a little run down. It's all clean though.
Location is rather far from the next metro station. However, it's easy to get around in Rome by taxi, which is not too expensive.
- georgb924 (8/5): Our second stay and certainly again... - Situated 7 walking minutes away from the parc of the villa Borghese and opposite the ancient Roman city walls at the corner of the Corso d' Italia and the Via Po the Villa Marignoli offers several apartments of different size and ground plan. Each one is individually furnished with older or antique pieces so that it is difficult to describe one for all. We have stayed there for the second time and had bedroom(s), a basically equipped kitchenette with two hotplates and a fridge, sitting room and bathroom(s) in Italian style. This year we even had a small dining room!
We liked the ideal position to the sights and the Termini railway station from where the hop on - hop off buses start (a 17 minutes walk).
If you decide to stay at the Marignoli you should not expect the perfectness of a four star hotel but an exceptionally friendly staff at the reception. If you don't mind a perhaps dripping faucet or a defect light bulb but want to have an effective cleaning service and a waste bin in the kitchen that is cleared every day you are at the right place.
We loved every minute of our two stays (2012 and 2018) in a typical Italian "grand sciècle" atmospere and were always warmly welcomed by the receptionists who also helped us with our airline check-in online on the hotel computer. A very big "Thank-You" to the kind receptionist who on our departure day called the taxidriver on his mobile while we were on the way to the airport to tell him that we had forgotten our keyring with home and car-keys on his desk. The driver turned immediately to go back to the Villa Marignoli and we got the keys in time (no tip accepted from the receptionist!!!) to reach our flight with no extra charge for the detour.
All in all our stay was an unforgettable Italian experience to be renewed hopefully soon.
- charlotte0711 (10/5): Great location and great staff. - We had a fabulous time again (this was our 3rd visit in as many years!). Thank you to all at Villa Marignoli for helping me with my husbands birthday cake and all other "little" things that I needed and you so graciously provided.
- ChasnChris (8/5): Really nice but . . . . - I'd booked an executive apartment with two bedrooms; maybe I didn't read the description properly but the 'second bedroom' was the sitting/dining room with a kind of bed-settee, which was probably fine as an extra bed had we needed it but too deep to sit on comfortably as a settee. Either that or we didn't get what I'd actually paid for. Having said that, the complex was very nice, the staff very pleasant and helpful, and the apartment itself nice with plenty of drawer and wardrobe space. The kitchen was extremely smart and well equipped although the frying pan and coffee pot were incompatible with the (very efficient) induction hob. There was a new washing machine but nowhere to hang out clothes properly and I had to chase up for an iron and board.
A welcome pack or a few basics such as salt, pepper, milk etc. would have been a nice touch, especially as we arrived on a Saturday evening and there didn't appear to be any supermarkets or alimentari open in the immediate vicinity.
The neighbourhood is quiet and safe at night with plenty of restaurants in easy walking distance though most of them seem to be tourist traps. The nearest nightlife is probably Via Veneto, about ten minute's walk. Villa Borghese park is not far. Plenty of car hire offices close by for those who are renting a vehicle.
- xoichik (10/5): My favourite place to stay in Rome - I have been staying at Residenza Marignoli for my fairly frequent visits to Rome for over 10 years (at least 2-3 times per year). I have stayed there for work and for leisure, alone and with my wife, and I mist have tried every room by now. The location is perfect, it is in one of the most exclusive parts of Rome, making it easy to access Villa Borghese, Via Veneto, and area around Piazza Fiume and Porta Pia etc, and making it easy to find excellent restaurants, among other things (many of which are for proper Romans not for tourists and hence better quality and prices). This place is very charming, the architecture unique (which is difficult in Rome) and the antique furniture is so tasteful. The staff is warm and welcoming, and I feel always very welcome every time I visit; they will help with whatever is needed. Let me put this way: I have been going to Residenza Marignoli for many years and have no wish to stay anywhere else. Lucio S
- cecibennett (6/5): You get what you pay for - The residenza is wonderfully located. Great for a morning run in villa borghese and easy access to different piazzas. As others have written, the place is a beautiful building which has been divided up to make this business, and is not necessarily always fit for purpose. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our room which was quiet on the wing facing away from the street, showed evidence of guests' nocturnal hunting of mosquitoes on the ceilings, over who knows how long a period. It was great to have a bit of space however, and to spread out our stuff. We checked in and were told "nothing more to pay" but when we left we were told to pay the city tax for the week we had stayed. Fair enough but prior advice would have been good. Overall, a good choice for a city that doesn't care any more about tourists.
- MIchael1712 (10/5): Lovely stay in Rome - We visited Rome in july; we stayed in Villa Marignoli; a nice artistic villa in the heart of rome... two steps from the masterpieces of the Borghese Gallery and just nearby the famous Via Veneto area with it's coffee's and it's dolce vita stories, the place is really amazing and full of every comfort, the staff is friendly and english speaking and ready to help you make your stay unforgettable. The "terrazza" offers a beautiful landscape and the opportunity a real italian breakfast. a magic place for a magic city. Can't wait to return again.
- jutta1000 (8/5): Spacious apartment in good location - While staying in Rome, one needs an accomodation in a good location that, besides anything else, provides good information concerning the city, e.g. sights, opening houirs, public transport, restaurants, cafés, shopping etc. We were well prepared anyway - f.e. order your tickets online for the Forum Romanum, the Colloseum and the Vatican in adavance, and you will spare hours of waiting in lines, go to St. Peter in the very early morning - but still, the staff of Villa Marignoli provided very helpful information. The apartment was really good, only breakfast, like almost everywhere in Italy, was a bit, well, maybe insubstantial. Which is not too bad anyway, because there are many places in the city where you can have great breakfast while exploring the surrounding.
- 677krj (10/5): A true gem - A true gem of a hotel and on our visit it felt like home away from home. It is situated in a wonderfully quiet area, however, conveniently with many main sights within walking distance. The hotel's rooms are purposefully furnished with a nod to retro charm, at the same time having all necessary modern facilities inside. We were delighted to have a bonus of a huge bookshelf and our own little veranda. Credit has to be given to the reception staff, who were very friendly and incredibly helpful in finding our way around Rome. We loved every minute staying there.
- 808henrikp (10/5): Genuinely nice place in a great location - Villa Marignoli is the perfect place to stay for a holiday in Rome, it is in a great location, the building has a lot of character and the ladies at the reception are really welcoming, helpful and friendly. Our room was very spacious, had a great balcony and as well as a well equipped kitchen. The hotel is full of charm, has all these interesting objects around and is as far as you can get from a chain hotel. It is also very clean. The terrace is great for an early evening drink, around the hotel you have some great bars, shopping, restaurants and supermarkets.
We loved this place, especially the friendly ladies at the reception who gave us such a great welcome to Italy!
- Gaeliov (10/5): Historical liberty building and wonderful location - Villa marignoli is a beautiful historical building in liberty style.
Even if it is residence/apartment, Villa Marignoli has 24 hours front desk and room make everyday (except on weekends).
We had room with two bed rooms and two baths. First floor, which is building's 2nd floor, has big living room, full kitchen and dining table enlighted by full of light. Plus small bath with shower. Also the sofa bed. Second floor two bed rooms are separated by another bathroom with shower and bidet. One bed room has doublebed (two single attached) and another has two single beds. Second floor is kind of attic, thus if you are 2 meter tall person you might feel bit oppressed, but space is ample enough with lots of storage space and may accommodate 5 or 6 people maximum.
WiFi signal is good at the entrance, but not strong enough in the bed rooms of bit-far apartments.
Staffs are very friendy and always ready to help you any moment. In fact, we made a reservation at a terrible apartment at another place, so shocked arriving there to find the condition which is almost inhabitable, then we were forced to find the new place just to escape that apartment.
We visited near by few apartments including Villa Marignoli. The receptionist Almaza suggested rooms are available and the manager Michelangelo showed us, very kindly, each every room. We chosed the room #217 and really happy staying there. It was so spacious, comfortable and beautiful, and cannot imagine how we would have spent our precious holiday in another accommodation. Also the rate is the same!!
*Location: Walkable to the center, but maybe better use buses even because bus stop is just in front.
*Neighoubhood: some nice restaurants, we were very happy with Padovano/roman kitchen and Il Fellini Italian touch.
*Parking:
The streets around, most place are available for parking. Few are free, most paying 4€ (daily rate) for 8 consecutive hours from 8Am to 7Pm, rest of time is free. Buy the ticket at the bar in front of the hotel and put on the dashboard. When you arrive, you may not find the space near by, but later there are always spaces later in the day.
*Food shops: There is a very good supermarket nearby (Via Tevere 17) with high quality products.
