Guest Reviews
- Christian (10/5): -
- greg (10/5): Exceptional property! The photos do not do it justice. Very clean. Great size for 4-6 people. Perfect location. - Everything! Nothing
- Julia (8/5): A great unit which was very well placed for the old town - Location, space, facilities Stairs, no lock on toilet door, dodgy plug socket in one of the bedrooms
- Marc (10/5): -
- Christina (9/5): What a treat to stay right in the heart of Old Town Dubrovnik. Spacious, clean and well-equipped! - The apartment was clean, quiet and spacious. The inclusion of breakfast was very convenient. Our hosts also arranged our airport transfer at a rate that was not inflated. There were some small ants in the bathroom, kitchen and around the apartment. 75 stairs is many to climb at the end of the day.
- Julien (8/5): -
- WESLEY (6/5): Nice place for a long stay, not good for a dhort stay. - Central location Messaging from property manager was too often, too complicated and made our stay less comfortable. There were too many compliance messages never able to enjoy the stay. A quick stay needs concise, clear messages, not over cumbersome communications which take up your valuable time while on holiday.
- Ricardo (9/5): best possible location, sparkling clean and modern - perfect location very central in town and great access to lots of bars and restaurants.
The place is in excellent shape, very modern and sparkling clean.
Beds are comfortable and AC worked well, though the upstairs beds are hot in super hot summer days. There are 74 steps to get to the apartment, so if someone cannot handle steps, this would be a problem. not a problem for my group.
we were there in some of the hottest days of this summer and the upstairs rooms were warmer than desirable, but still manageable.
- Tara (8/5): Good Rental in Heart of Old Town - Excellent location right in the heart of the old town. Large bathroom. Collecting the door code was frustrating. The host didn’t send it until I followed up, at which point I was told it hadn’t been shared because I hadn’t yet paid a separate “damages” fee—charged outside of Booking.com via a random link. When I asked for the code, I was redirected to a different phone number and sent a PDF that didn’t include it. I only received the code after insisting. This process is especially inconvenient for travelers who may not have regular email or phone access while in travelling.
Additionally, the neighbor smokes inside, which leaks into the second bedroom downstairs. Not an issue for us, but be aware if you are sensitive to smoke.
- alfredo (7/5): - Yo busqué un hotal y ustedes me dieron un airb&b. No es culpa de hedera sino de Booking demasiadas escaleras sin ascensor, horas de chek in y out muy exigentes, desayuno lejos del sitio y regular.
- Samuel (10/5): Great stay in old town Dubrovnik - Easy self check-in, Clean and tidy, good facilities, Plenty of space for a group of 5, great location to explore old town Dubrovnik, breakfast included at cafe festival was tasty
- William (8/5): Great place to visit Dubrovnik - Great. Lovely restaurant Duvet too small for our double bed
- Michael (9/5): GREAT location - but minor issues need attention - Location was amazing, pre-arrival info was good as well as info during our stay with very responsive staff (whom we never met - but communicated via WhatsApp). A number of things were not working / missing / broken, but when we made them aware, it was quickly fixed. So 10/10 for responsiveness.
However, the kitchen lacked basic things such as dishwashing soap, that we had to buy (only staying for two days). You have to like stairs - which we were ok with - but that that you had to climb several sets of stairs to get to the apartment. Finally, we had to provide a EUR 200 breakage deposit before checking in - which we were not aware of when booking. We trust that the deposit will be returned to us within matter of days.
- Tara (10/5): Exceptional - The apartment is in a great central location. It is spacious and clean.
- Adrian (6/5): Geat location, great space but a huge issue if staying there during the summer as no AC. the breakfast arrangements are - great location, lovely space air conditioning not available (in two of three bedrooms) or did not work (in the one bedroom it was installed).
arrival instructions were unclear and we needed to call another number to receive full information for key code.
no possibility to use the safe as no key available or instructions
WiFi code was difficult to decipher
- Sam (9/5): We had a lovely stay. Dubrovnik is a beautiful city. The hosts reached out via WhatsApp and happily provided suggestions - The location was great within easy reach of everything within the city walls. Nice modern apartment. The included breakfast had a few options to suit different tastes - omelettes, continental and cereals. The staff were friendly and the orange juice freshly squeezed. There are a lot of steps but it was ok for us. The main issue was the single room was unbearably hot for my son which other people have mentioned. You can hear the bells in the attic room and master bedroom but not in the second double room so maybe opt for that one if you a light sleeper. We didn’t have any problem with the water running out and we were a group of four adults.
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional - Super spacious and located right in the middle of the old town! Super clean and loved the little balcony, it has great views of the city!
- Hong (8/5): Excellent location. - Excellent central location.
Good communication 1. 70 steps to get to the property.
2.You have to clear your own rubbish.
3.We prepaid for airport pick up but were told to arrange our own transport when our flight was delayed for 90mins and was close to midnight.
They should make this clear that airport transfer is not guaranteed if your flight is delayed.
4. There was only one bedroom with air condition. There was another air condition in living room/kitchen. Second bedroom has no air condition but bearable if you keep the door open as you may get some cool air from the living room. The small bedroom in the attic in my opinion is unusable in summer.
5. The safe in the property was unusable during my stay and this was not rectified.
- Andrew (7/5): Great location in the heart of the old town - Great apartment in a fantastic location. We were 2 couples travelling together and had plenty of room. Was a good escape from the hustle and bustle of Dubrovnik yet the apartment is close to the main street and walking distance to all attractions and restaurants within the old city. Has a nice little balcony that overlooks the rooftops. Breakfast was at a nearby cafe on the main street that was great for people watching. There are a lot of stairs and no lift (which we knew and was fine for us) however if you have any mobility issues I would not recommend. It is a long way up and there is no one to assist with luggage. Had to chase up the breakfast vouchers but they were delivered by the end of day. We arrived expecting the washing machine to be functional and after trouble shooting for almost 2 hours, contacted management to find out they were aware there was an issue and it wasn't working. They did offer to launder our clothes however we had to take our clothes to the office which was a 10 min walk away. It was late afternoon and we were only there for 2 nights with a very early check out so didn't want to run the risk of clothes not being returned in time. After 2.5 weeks of travelling, we were relying on a functional washing machine so this was extremely disappointing. The window in the main bedroom doesn't open (and it rattles in the breeze) however there is an air conditioner in this room. The rest of the apartment has one air conditioner which was fine but the mezzanine area would be very hot in the height of summer. There are no toiletries so you need to bring all shampoo, soap etc nor is there any cold bottled water in the fridge (which would have been much appreciated after lugging all our bags up the stairs!!)
- Chris (10/5): Fantastic unit that captures the experience and atmosphere of Old Town Dubrovnik! - We were up in the rafters of an old Croatian building in the heart of Dubrovnik …. What’s not to love? Nothing, even the extensive stairs to get up to the top floor were dramatic and made the climb exciting.
- Vaiva (10/5): Apartament was good - The location in the middle of the old town is a great choice, the apartments are clean, cozy and spacious. There is everything you need for your stay, from a washing machine to a hair dryer It is quite hot on the second floor of the apartment, the air conditioner does not cool the shelter room, but everything is fine in the other rooms
- Aaron (10/5): Exceptional -
- María (10/5): Exceptional -
- Isaak (7/5): Great location, helpful staff, pleasant stay - An extremely comprehensive guide with very useful and detailed information was provided in advance and all managing agents that we had the opportunity to communicate with before/during our stay were very kind, helpful and attentive to our needs and requests.
The apartment, which is very spacious, cozy and at a great location (right in the middle of the Old Town), was pretty clean but got quite hot at times (especially in the attic room) and, although the air conditioning in the living room helped, it is important to note that only one of the bedrooms has aircon. Of course, as stated several times before, there are a lot of stairs to get up to the apartment so keep that in mind if you have heavy luggage or mobility issues. The floors in the apartment were considerably squeaky which was bad when others were sleeping but all rooms were rather comfortable in general (the mattress in at least one of the rooms was too soft though).
There was some noise coming from the street at night but this is probably to be expected considering the property's very central location.
The breakfast, which was definitely an added bonus, was served at a nearby cafe and was pretty decent. We had a pleasant stay overall which could have been a bit better if there were a few complimentary beverages (or bottled water at least) in the fridge, in addition to some basic toiletries (such as shampoo or body wash) in the bathroom to make guests feel more welcome and comfortable.
The two AC units were probably not enough to keep all the rooms cool on hot summer days (only one had aircon, the other unit is in the living room).
Although duly informed, it was still quite unusual to be asked to get rid of our own rubbish when we leave.
- Matthew (9/5): Superb -
- Jessica (9/5): Short walk to King's Landing and close to everything - All information needed were supplied, good and fast respond, in the middle of old town The church bells, could use an extra toilet as there were 5 of us in the house.
- Christian (7/5): Good - Great location and convenience in Old Town Dubrovnik! The floors squeaked badly, which was bad when others were sleeping. The clothes washer door was locked so we couldn’t use the machine.
- Souvira (4/5): Accommodation ok but managing agent bad.. - Breakfast included. No shampoo or body wash, so we had to buy them ourselves. Never been to apartment supposedly four stars that do not supply shampoo or body wash. Asked managing agent and was told that nothing is provided. . The main bedroom was made with the mattress turned upside down. First night we didn't know so we slept on a very uncomfortable bouncing bed with springs sticking on our backs. Next day we had a close look and found the bed had been made upside down. There was evidence of wet marks on the correct side. We remade the bed right side up and could sleep better and normally on subsequent nights. Told managing agent about it and their response was "previous guests have never complained about it...". I would have expected them to apologise and found out why that happened so it would not happen again to future guests.
- Ulrich (7/5): Good - Central. Big. Balcony. Very good breakfast in a Restaurant included that if you would pay by your self would cost a lot. Nice staff. 5 staircases. Very load floors. They should offer some shuttle service from reception to apartments and maybe someone to help care the bags to the apartment since you cant park close to the apartment. No light in the bathroom mirror or in the kitchen area.
- Karlie (8/5): Cute apartment in a great location. - The apartment was very cute and well located in the middle of old town. Beds were a bit soft and it was unusual to be told by management that we have to get rid of our own rubbish when we leave. I got told off by a local lady for using a bin in the street. Be warned, the church bells sound regularly and throughout the night.
- Anthony (9/5): Superb - It was good and just round the corner.
- Wai (7/5): Good - Location was great, very central Enough beds and space for a large group, but the downside is that there's only 1 bathroom, therefore there's always a queue
- Deirdre (10/5): Booked the airport transfer which was an excellent service and we were then meet by staff who brought us to the apartmen - Lovely apartment right in the heart of old town. There are a lot of steps to reach the apartment which was no problem for us
- Jemma (8/5): Overall a brilliant stay, great location, perfect for a short break. - Very central, brilliant location. Spacious and very well equipped. A lot of stairs as with most properties in the centre. Very hot in two of the bedrooms, could do with air conditioning especially in the attic room.
- Simone (9/5): Wonderful location, beautiful apartment, and host was very accommodating when arranging travel from airport as well as o - Great location ! Spacious for the three of us staying and complimentary breakfast right in the center of the Old Town. Everything was great, but a lot of stairs to get up to the room to keep in mind if you have heavy luggage!
- Simon (10/5): Wonderful - Beautiful and in the heart of the old city. Leasing agent was very helpful as well. Highly recommend
- James (9/5): Superb -
- Rick (10/5): Spacious 2 floor modern apartment overlooking ancient picturesque old town - This was such a unique property inside the old town of Dubrovnik. Within an ancient multi-purpose building, this spacious 2-floor apartment provided plenty of room for our family (mom, dad, 2 adult sons) to spread out and enjoy our stay. Sweeping views of the old town from our rooms and small balcony were a bonus. Only challenge was 3 flights of stairs; but we were expecting this, given where it is located - part of the package deal. Breakfast was included each morning of our stay at a restaurant just a couple of blocks away - very easy to reach by foot each morning. There was nothing we didn't like - fantastic place to stay and experience the old town.
- Emma (8/5): Excellent place to stay great location apartment really clean. Host service excellent! - Great breakfast , great location, host service excellent, great size , clean Matress uncomfortable
Hot water runs out too quick
Nearby Bells wake you up too early! But that’s with the location
Could do with another bathroom
- Paula (10/5): Exceptional - The location is amazing, right in the center of Dubrovnik.
The apartment is beautiful, clean and super spacious, even for us as a group of 5.
The kitchen is really well equipped. You need to go up a few flights of really narrow stairs to get to the flat, which is not a negative comment but a warning depending on who you go with.
Also the hot water can run out fast if every guest showers after each other.
- Kathleen (9/5): Superb - Great central location in Old Town. Comfortable furnishings and stay. Large and roomy apartment for a family or multiple travellers. Outstanding, welcoming and accommodating hosts who were always available to assist in anything needed. This was my mistake for not reading in detail there are a lot of stairs to get to the upper floor apartment. It was fine for me but I was travelling with my senior mother and it was a bit challenging for her.
- Päivi (10/5): - Asunto on keskellä vanhaakaupunkia ja siten lähellä kaikkea. Kyseessä on kattohuoneisto, joten yöelämän äänet eivät sinne kadulta kantaudu.
- Lauren (10/5): wonderful and beautiful - location is fantastic!!!! big and Spacious ! great view and balcony! really comfortable. breakfast included at the resturant was brilliant. the 3 flights of stairs up which wouldn’t suit elderly or someone with wheelchair.
- Maryka (10/5): Excellent location, clean, friendly staff - Location was excellent Lots of stairs but in the old town there is no other choice
- Hugo (9/5): Great location and fantastic host. - Very central located in the old village. We stayed there with our four kids. Jasmina has been our host and did a fantastic job!
- Lisa (10/5): Spacious apartment in the heart of old town! - Really enjoyed our stay at Apartment Melano A5 and would recommend:
- The apartment was clean and spacious for central old town. Although staying in old town is slightly pricier than the Lapad option, it is 100% worth it. The location was surprisingly very central to all points which was great. Easy access to the port for Lokrum, Cavtat and evening restaurants (and an Uber / bus away from Port Gruz).
- Spacious beds as there were two doubles, a double sofa bed (sofa bed was very comfy!) and a single attic room.
- There were full amenities and a working kitchen.
- There was a balcony so we could enjoy the view.
- There was air conditioning in the main room although note that not all bedrooms have aircon.
- it was relatively quiet at night considering the hustle and bustle outside.
- Two sets of keys was very helpful.
- The apartment arranged an airport transfer for us which was really helpful and was very communicative on the build up of our stay. They answered any questions we had and provided an excursion guide.
- Breakfast vouchers was also great and allowed us to eat alfresco at a local cafe on the main street daily. Very minor points which are worth noting:
- 1 bathroom for an accomodations with 2 doubles, a double sofa bed and a single bed means bathroom queues.
- Ear plugs at night if you don't want to hear the bell chime at night as this is the primary noise you can hear every hour.
- 3 flights of stairs which is to be expected in old town for the attic apartment as the buildings are old and there are stairs everywhere!
