Guest Reviews
- Firat (10/5): Great - This was our second stay here, and once again everything was absolutely wonderful. Anna is such a warm, kind, and welcoming host that she truly makes you feel at home. We had a lovely stay, just like last time.
- Neil (8/5): -
- Juan (7/5): - Very loud!
- Silvia (9/5): Fantastisch!
- Marla (10/5): Happy in Amsterdam - Loved the location and the fact that we had a first floor view of a canal. Comfortable bed and modern bathroom. Hosts were pleasant and communicative. Very easy check-in and out. We arrived early and they stored our luggage for us. Really enjoyed our stay there! Lighting in the bathroom isn’t great for makeup application but that’s a very minor point.
- Greg (10/5): Highly recommended and exceptionally comfortable room in central location on canal. - Prized central location on quiet street overlooking a canal. The room was exceptionally well appointed with beautiful decor, bar fridge, provision of breakfast bowls and a modern bathroom. Complimentary prosecco and cookies was very much appreciated upon arrival. Very helpful staff made our checkin and checkout seamless. Highly recommended.
- Karac (10/5): Great getaway with a great location to explore. - The location is perfect for exploring Amsterdam, nice and quiet but close enough to everything. Anna was a great host and helped with everything we needed for our three night stay, it was my wife’s birthday on the Sunday and we came back to a gift that was really thoughtful. Thank you 😊 Leaving to come home 🙁
- Firat Beles (10/5): Everything is extraordinary. - Anna took great care of us from check-in to check-out. We've been to Amsterdam so many times I can't even remember how many, and this is the first place we've stayed where everything was so perfect. We want to stay here every time we come. Nothing.

- alex (10/5): - Welcome, location, comfort
- Janeta (10/5): -

- Yenilmez (10/5): -
- Eric (10/5): - Very clean, location was extremely walkable to all the sights. The bed was very comfortable and the staff was extremely helpful and responsive.
- Roos (10/5): -
- Chereen (8/5): Comfortable and conveniently located. - Room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Hosts were easy to communicate with. We had everything we needed in the room. Very useful to have plates, bowels and cutlery provided. Just be mindful of steep, narrow and winding steps leading up to the room. Fortunately, it's not too far up to walk and there's a rail to hold on to. You can hear the noise from outside and lots of airplanes fly over the city, which is quite loud in the apartment.
- Craig (10/5): Great 3 days in the perfect location. - The location was perfect, close to everything we wanted Na

- Maria Melissa (10/5): Get wonderfully lost by your hotel - Location, location, location.
We were absorbed in the immediate surroundings of our hotel during our stay here in Amsterdam. Who wants to leave when you can wander around here and get wonderfully lost?
This area, De 9 Straatjes, is tucked into Amsterdam’s UNESCO-listed canal belt, a charming maze of nine cobbled streets brimming with over 250 boutiques, vintage shops, cozy cafés, and canal-side treasures. It’s the perfect place to be lost with abandon. We didn't have anything to complain about except for some trivial inconveniences. Probably would be better if we had some more towel hooks in the bathroom.
- Ashley (10/5): Cozy and aesthetic stay in a poppin but peaceful area of Amsterdam, my local friends were telling me how lucky I was to - Beautiful property and the hosts were complete sweeties! Location is fantastic and everyone at 1637 is so friendly and kind. Nothing
- Jennifer (9/5): Wonderful Birthday Stay! - I had everything I needed for my stay. There were so many things close by to walk to and it was easy to hop on a train to get to further places. My hosts were amazing! I had a couple special requests and they were so helpful in helping me with them. My birthday trip a wonderful experience! I highly recommend them and would stay again. Thank you Joost, Chet, and Anna! First floor so make sure you have curtains pulled if you’re changing. (Haha!)
- Arlene (8/5): Great place with excellent location! - Very roomy, comfortable, clean, great view of the canal, location 👌
The gentleman who met us was very friendly and helpful. Can be noisy at night with people walking past, but not a deal breaker.
- Dennis (8/5): About a 4 out of 5 - Great location and being on canal near a bridge. The room did not look like the pictures
- Gary (9/5): Enjoyed the view of the canal. - There was no breakfast provided.
- Jenna (10/5): Exceptional - The location is one of the highlights of the property. You’re in the heart of Amsterdam without the annoyance of being in a busier location. You feel more like a local and at home, than on vacation.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roni (10/5): Perfect view peacefull - Everything! View was perfect . Arrived early let us check in early.
- Yousef (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patrick (9/5): Superb - Very well appointed, clean and excellent location. I was on 1st floor, but if you are on a higher floor and have large and heavy suitcases, be warned. The stairs are about 60 degrees vertical
- Abhishek (10/5): Exceptional -
- Parrish (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nermeen (10/5): Exceptional - The room is big and clean, one of the best places I ever stayed in Amsterdam. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Check in and out was super easy. Room view is amazing and close to many attractions, restaurants and cafes.
- Angie (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely apartment, great area, super sweet neighbor who helped us when our arrival was delayed by flight changes!
And mega bonus points for the free standing makeup mirror in the bathroom so I could make sure the back of my hair looked decent! I almost never find such a treasure!
- David (9/5): Lovely, comfortable place to stay that is synonymous with what you'd picture staying in Amsterdam. - Location was great with a lovely view right over the canal. It was a little away from points of interest and we found we walked a lot. Though public transport is close by.
- Lynne (9/5): Fabulous stay in historic property - Very comfortable in great location with friendly service Could do with a full length mirror and fresh milk in fridge
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, less than 10 minutes walk from Dam Square, and about 15 minutes to the Museum Quarter. Very comfortable and Ania was very helpful.
- Keith (10/5): A fantastic location with super welcoming host. - A very warm welcome and helpful with travel arrangements. Bed was very comfy with a choice of pillows. The central location made it easy to walk or tram to the things we wanted to see. The recommendation for breakfast at the hotel 2 doors down was fantastic - highly recommend the buffet that was a great way to start the day. In new cities we still long for a paper map - walking around with google maps just isn't the same! A niggle that only applies to shorter people - I couldn't reach the shelf to work the coffee machine
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Duygu (10/5): Wonderful and ccomfortable stay :) - our room was clean and comfortable and was very close to center .
They were very helpful about check in.
We would love to stay there again
- Susie (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the room, was comfortable, great space and amazing views
Close to everything, easy to get around
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kristy (10/5): Exceptional -
- World (8/5): Beautiful canal view and great location. Be aware of spiral stairs - We had two rooms - the Vermeer on the ground floor and the Rembrandt on the second floor. The view of the canal is beautiful. The location is perfect for shopping, restaurants and using the tram. A grocery store is close by - easily walkable. The rooms and bathrooms are large and well furnished. The beds and pillows are extremely comfortable. Bathroom amenities are wonderful. There is a luggage rack in each room as well as robes, small refrigerator, dishes, silverware, Nespresso machine and kettle. The hosts are excellent at communication and extremely fast at responding to any problems/questions. We had a lovely stay. Just be aware that the Rembrandt room is up a spiral set of narrow stairs. It is doable with smaller carry-on luggage but not sure how difficult it would be to navigate if you had a large suitcase. We are retirement age and managed the stairs ok. The Rembrandt room has a curtain as a door to the bathroom rather than an actual door. The only real issue we had during our stay was in the Rembrandt room. The bathroom light, once turned off, would not come back on. We called the host, and someone was at our room to fix it within 5 minutes. We were nervous this might happen again, so we ended up just leaving the bathroom light on very dim the whole time we were there.
- Nancy (10/5): This is the place to stay while in Amsterdam. - Perfect place to stay. Spotlessly clean, great hosts, breakfast nearby, wonderful bathroom with a great shower, comfy bed. We will definitely stay here again. We loved everything about this place.
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tony (10/5): Centrally located, scenic and comfortable. - Great location and convenient walking to everything. Especially since you don't need to be driving in Amsterdam, tight roads, too much traffic and the road right of way's make little sense. Owners were very helpful in answering questions and providing a temporary storage room while we waited for our check-in time (we arrive a bit early). Room was clean and orderly, very comfortable. The only complaint was really on our own understanding of the address location. It was a bit confusing at first until we became accustomed to how it is listed in Amsterdam. Maybe include a separate or specific line item in the instructions that specifically highlight the physical address for those of us that are first timers. Otherwise, no complaints really.
- Katie (10/5): Perfection - We loved everything! Location, decor, facilities, bed, shower...everything was perfect! The bed was extremely comfortable, air con/heating easy to use, the complimentary toiletries smelled lovely, the window overlooking the canal was really nice, the shower was powerful...we couldn't fault anything. We visit Amsterdam every year and will definitely stay here again next year. There was nothing not to like
- Catherine (10/5): Great location, lots of character. - Brilliant location, very comfortable room. Loved staying in a typical Dutch canal house! Would definitely stay there again Unfortunately our canal view was of fencing and construction materials but this was just temporary I’m sure and bad timing for us.
- Nicholas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (8/5): Perfect location, beautiful suite, lovely view, my stay was way too short! -
- Cedric (9/5): Superb - The place to be !!!
- Russ (8/5): We enjoyed our stay in Amsterdam and particularly the room. We wouldn’t however advise it for elde4l - Location was excellent; loved easy assess to everything and interesting neighborhood. Room was clean and well maintained. Bed was comfortable. It was very difficult living in the apartment with a lot of clothes since there was no where to put them. In addition to our three day stay at the canal view suites we had clothes for a 12 day cruise. With one suitcase on the floor and the other sitting below the rack for hanging clothes, it was very difficult to access clothes for Dailey use. A small chest to keep a few days clothes would be very helpful.
- Sarvi (10/5): Beautiful apartment in the heart of Amsterdam - Towel warmer, heated bathroom floors, champagne in the fridge, warm welcome from the host. We were treated in the most lovely way. We’re really grateful. It was great; no issues.
- Danika (9/5): Would definitely stay here again. Great spot for couples. - Location was great in the heart of the 9 streets. Very clean. Huge bathroom and shower Make sure
- Abella (10/5): Amazing! Can’t wait to stay here again! - First of all the location was fantastic - stunning view of canal and super walkable to all of the main tourist attractions. Great restaurants, bars, cafes and shopping surrounding the property. The room itself was beautiful- the ambience, decor and cleanliness was excellent. We were greeted by super friendly and helpful host and given all information we needed. Everything was excellent!
- Bel (10/5): Perfect stay - Centrally located - could get to most attractions by foot within 20 minutes. Next to cafes, restaurants, and boutique shops. Very clean, lovely room scent, and the fresh flowers in the room were a nice touch. Always looked forward to resting after a day of exploring. Great house keeping service; Joost and Chet were super responsive and outlined what to expect a week/and day prior. Perfect stay - thank you.
- Donna (7/5): Good - The location was perfect to get around the city. The hosts are very accommodating. The room on the first floor was cramped. Definitely doesn’t look like the picture featured above. You are booking a small bedroom, with a mini frig and coffee maker. I felt like it was extremely overpriced for the accommodations. The room in my opinion should be priced no more than $225.00 a night and we paid almost double!
- Denise (9/5): Superb -
- Sebastien (10/5): Great experience - Very nice property and well located.
- Ekaterina (10/5): Exceptional - Location, gorgeous view from the window, very spacious room. high-quality mattress. Very helpful and friendly guys, really trying to make your holiday the best! a bottle of prosecco as a compliment! when they cleaned the room they didn't leave a new bathroom set, but that's a small thing
- Anthony (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tania (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carole (9/5): Great location, comfy room, accessible hosts. - You cannot pick a better location than Canal Suites. So close to everything. My room, the Vermeer, had a view to the street and the canal. I was able to relax and people watch from my front window. Everything was provided. Joost and Chet were very responsive via What's App but I only saw Joost in person a couple of times. Their restaurant recommendations were fantastic although I didn't have enough time to try as many as I would have liked. It was warm in Amsterdam during my stay and the air-conditioning was a nice added feature. I would absolutely recommend Canal Suite as place to stay in Amsterdam. Can't think of anything.
- Sathya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pam (10/5): Wonderful stay. - Lovely canal suite within walking distance to everything. Clean, modern facilities in an original canal house. Hosts were very attentive helpful and attentive.
- Kathy (9/5): We had a great time in Amsterdam and didn’t have any issue with the hotel. - Quiet, comfortable, and clean. The spiral stairs to get up to room - very difficult with large suitcases.
No one onsite - have to communicate by WhatsApp
Little difficult to find the first time - minimal signage
- Trouw (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachel (9/5): We would recommended this suite to anyone wishing to stay in Jordaan! - A truly special canal house with beautiful view in an area that feels very safe. Much larger and spacious than other options in the area. Bed was quite comfortable and bathroom was LARGE. While we felt we did have the better privacy and view out of the two suites, the upstairs “Rembrandt” room is very tricky if you do have luggage, as the spiral staircase up is extremely steep and narrow.
- Teresa (10/5): Exceptional - Everything about this canal house was perfect! We loved everything about it. Bed was so comfortable. And location was fantastic for exploring. I wish I would have booked more than one night. Will definitely stay again!
- Paul (9/5): Exactly what we wanted - Breakfast wasn’t included. Location excellent Rubbish in the streets.
- Lee (10/5): Wonderful place to unwind and enjoy what Amsterdam has to offer! - This is a beautiful property on the canal. Everything Amsterdam has to offer is in walking distance and lovely shops and restaurants surrounding the area. I highly recommend this hotel. There are no negatives to this place. We really enjoyed our stay.
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (6/5): Loud but otherwise perfectly fine. - It was a good location to most things and the apartment was servicable. It was loud! We were on the ground floor and the road and footpath are right outside. It was a surprisingly busy street with cars, mopeds and the occasional heavy vehicle going right past the window. Along with the foot traffic and the intoxicated in the early morning. Right by the steps, the front door and the main hallway. You could also hear those above and below. We had good quality ear plugs so the sound was manageable.
- Beth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Misk (10/5): Absolutely worth it, will definitely search for this stay if im ever in Amsterdam again, and totally recommending for fr - The location was absolutely perfect. It was near everything you will ever need. The apartment was great and absolutely beautiful, overlooking the canal directly. The stairs were a bit tight and closed off making hard for luggage but i noticed most buildings in Amsterdam have that so no big deal. Shout out to the hosts friend Anna for helping out with the luggage!
- Sandra (9/5): Couples retreat for great Amsterdam Stay! - We loved the location! Beautiful view from window and great area to base ourselves! Lovely to have fresh flowers in our room on arrival. Great communication from hosts and easy check in and out!! Glad that area was quiet at night! Would like wine glasses in room!!
No sink to fill kettle and wash glasses. Had to use bathroom sink but managed!
- Sonya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anthony (9/5): Superb -
- Renee (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful room in a historic building. Perfect location.
- Terry (10/5): I’d stay here again. - Perfect location, about a 15min walk to Centraal and about an 8min walk to the Prinsengracht restaurant area. Nothing, a great space to call home for a night or two.
- Faldielah (8/5): Lovely stay in the historic area of Amsterdam - We stayed in the ground floor apartment. It was well equipped. Near good restuarants and shops. The hosts were informative and knowledgable. The property is lovely but we did not like the litter cigarette ends rubbish outside. Lots of weeds growing and there seems to be lack of keeping the streets clean.
- Mohammad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Larry (10/5): Picture Perfect; highly recommend🤠 - Fabulous location and picture perfect room overlooking the canal. We stayed in the Rembrandt Room ….. highly recommend this very sweet canal house stay in the best part of town.
- Panagiotis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Torsten (10/5): Perfect room and perfect location! -
- Douglas (10/5): Ideal stay - The rooms were comfortable and lovely. The view from the window was spectacular. The location could not be beat for exploring all over Amsterdam. The host was very helpful, communication was great and our rooms were ready early to accomodate our early arrival.
- Israel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shawna (10/5): Wonderful and comfortable stay. - Everything. Lots of small details to make the room comfortable. Location was great. Bed was very large and comfortable. View was very pretty. Not a big deal but I thought it was a hotel so check in was a little difficult. This would have been avoided if I had checked my emails.
- Valgeir (9/5): Superb -
- Mal (10/5): Exceptional - The location was brilliant, right on the canal. Apartment was very clean and also great communication from the owners. The weather could have been better. But no the only fault I have is the shower pressure is very low.
- Simon (9/5): Superb -
- Shepherd (10/5): Relaxing. Catered to. Beautiful. Cozy my favourite stay in Amsterdam so far - What an amazing Accommodation! Amazing situated, walking distance from everything you would want to visit in Amsterdam.
The design was amazing very modern for a building that is so old. We spent a whole day just lounging looking out the window watching the world go by whilst laying in such a comfy bed
Chet was amazing. Always checking on us via WhatsApp to make sure we had what we needed. And went out of his way to help us. So we left him a couple of bottles as a thank you.
All the photos are exactly how it is. No hidden features
Would 100% go back. It was my favourite stay so far in the beautiful city of Amsterdam. There is nothing to dislike. It’s amazing
- Michelle (10/5): Will recommend - Easy access very clean Nothing
