Guest Reviews
- Nicholas (4/5): - This property needs some maintenance- it was clean linen and felt like it had been kept clean by the staff but definitely needs attention, broken tiles in the bathroom, broken shower head etc that could use some attention. The area is also very noisy and we had limited sleep as had to have window open due to heat .The room was a budget price but had limited facilities. Maybe even the addition of a shelf to place a phone/toiletries could be a good addition, as would a mattress protector and better fitting sheets and room fans as very stuffy. It did feel secure with good locks on doors etc and staff met us on time.
- Chantal (2/5): This is a shared accommodation - This place does not say it is SHARED!! It is a kitchen and couch and bathroom that is shared between 3 rooms. Also picture of the room was not what we received. It was small. Also many floors up. The help for luggage was good. However, not at all what we thought.
- Andrea (2/5): Stay away - I booked this last minute by accident and given the price I was surprised to discover it was a room that shared bathroom with at least other 3 people.
My room was right next to the entrance, so needless to say you can hear every person coming and going, you can hear the wooden floor and the loud noise of people entering the password for each of the different doors.
If you wish to have a good night sleep this is definitely not the place to go. Noise is coming from the streets and walls are paper thin. Not even a white noise will help you.
This should definitely not be in hotels.com, as it has more the vibe of a shared airbnb or a hostel. P.s. the price of a 100 pounds was also quite shocking for the room I was given.
Lesson learned... next time I will read the small print before booking.
- Gary (2/5): - Never NEVER select this property.
1)Address is not the correct address where you are staying. After searching for the property (we were at the reservation address) I called and someone came to get us.
2)Not secure; The person who came to get us used the code for the "security" gate. When we went to dinner, the gate was open and would NOT latch or lock. Inside the room, the security chain was not there. The only "security" was the entry lock which can be changed remotely.
3)The room might be okay for a college student who is not too picky, but not acceptable for adults. No soap, limited towels, plastic counters were falling apart, bed with a king size base but a queen size mattress.
4)We booked and paid for four nights and left after one night (on the couch). Was told by phone a partial refund would be processed. More than a month later, no refund.
AVOID THIS PLACE.!
- Ed (10/5): Ideal for stay - Used it for business purposes as was in the City. Very clean and easy to use. Welcomed at the location and had everything explained. Will use again if in the area.
- Chris (4/5): - Place was ok had to carry my bag up the flights stairs. The manager was excellent and saved the day.
- Julie (2/5): One to miss!! - First impressions I knew it was going to be bad!
Door opening in between 2 shuttered properties, large group of youths hanging out opposite.
Inside filthy, stained carpets, rubbish & mop propped inside downstairs hallway.
The apartment included 3 bedrooms all sharing the same bathroom.Unfortunately one of our neighbours did not know how to flush!
Mattress was too large for the base of bed, cover of which was split.Ikea units badly damaged.Blind ripped,Cracked window in bedroom and I can't explain the state of the bedside lamp!
- Kelly (6/5): - Well-located and clean.
- Linda (8/5): Nice room close to attractions - A nice room with ensuite shower. Rob was very helpful. The room is was small but more than adequate for the time I was in it. The outside appearance of the building could be better, but no complaints about the inside.
- Andrew (10/5): Fun, safe, and eclectic neighborhood - The service was great. The location was fantastic: walking distance to Tower of London and within a culturally eclectic neighborhood with great food, people, and things to do.
- Ernest (8/5): - It is a very secured property with access code unique to the occupant, which ultimately means no one can enter without code.
It is one of the affordable places to stay in the inner city London.
- Elisabeth (2/5): Varning!
- Conor (2/5): Grim - Absolutely awful, so bad I did not even stay in the place, shared bathrooms and kitchen also which was not stated, avoid this at all costs.
- Muni (6/5): - Small room size of a bed, crampy. Living area lack lustute and shower had issues with water all over the floor. It will certainly put some one off holiday mood if that's what ppl are visiting for.
- Richi (10/5): - On arrival I was met by the property manager who was very helpful and showed me around the apartment. The apartment was spotless many thing in the kitchen area being new and unused. My only issue re facilities was the toaster not working. But this was a minor thing which did not affect the quality of my stay. I will next time I’m in London for a short stay and need a quality and convenient place to stay be looking for this same apartment
- Fatine (10/5): - I stayed here for a couple of days and I would definitely come back. The host was very hospitable and helpful.
- Fatine (10/5): - Very calm area is welcoming
- Sophie (10/5): - Great place, very easy to arrange at the last minute
- Anna (8/5): Nice checkin lady - Quite nice. Lady waited for us with check in. We had two apartments. One was very nice with warm water and shampoo and conditioner. Hair dryer very slow. But overall good place for the money in central London
- Azra (6/5): - Nah an dem Sky Garden. Zimmer ziemlich klein.
- Hedir (6/5): - No access to WIFI. The property should be more clear with it.
- Erin (4/5): - These are not the pictures of the property. It is a shared bathroom, kitchen, and living room, although that was not specified, it just says "private room".
- Nm (10/5): A good place to stay. Great Host. - Me and my friend had a lovely stay at the city apartment. The host was very informative and welcoming. Everything we need was at the apartment. And it was in itself a nice enough place to stay.
- PAUL (8/5): Weekend Break - Whilst the immediate vicinity of the apartment isn’t the best it’s only a few minutes walk from where it improves. Had to phone a gentleman to let us in and he arrived after a few minutes, which was fine. The room was clean and had everything we needed for an overnight stay. Had tea and coffee and kitchenette but no kettle or saucepan but had a microwave so used that to heat the water. Bed was comfortable and the place was quiet. Cheaper to stay here than other hotels in the area and so on that basis if we want an overnight stay in London again this will definitely be on our list of potential places to stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): One night stay - The owner was friendly and helpful but the check-in process requires him tio be there to let you in. I had to wait for him to arrive.
It was not clear to me that proof of identity was required. Luckily I had my driving licence with me.
The £150 security deposit was also a surprise although the owner then said that he would on this occassion not charge it. All of the above should have been made clearer when booking with Hotel.com. Or maybe Hotel.com are unaware?
The carpets in the communal starway were filthy.
The sink in the bathroom is partially blocked and drains very slowly.
The bedside cabinet was broken and hanging at an angle.
City Apartments is comparatively cheap, however its condition reflects this.
- Abby (6/5): One night in London - Location was good, very close to many eateries and underground links. We were checked in by Rob who was very lovely, explained how to use our codes for the secure entry, demonstrated and had us follow suit to ensure we knew what we were doing. He showed us the facilities and gave any information we could have needed so Rob was fantastic. The room was adequate, decent sized TV although we could not locate the remote. In addition our booking stated we would have a queen size bed however this was definitely not the case and was more like a standard double. The room was of decent cleanliness however the shared bathroom was not, in particularly the shower had very visible black and yellow build up so the shower was left unused. All in all it's a decent enough place, perfectly fine for a night or two.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great service and basic comfort - Late night, one night stop over stay close to Liverpool Street. Concierge MK was fantastic and really helpful.
- Ralf (8/5): - Litle hard to find and not so fine outside, room and shower whas realy good for this price.
And close to food and markets.
- Vera (10/5): - Very friendly staff, very nice clean studio, and located in a great area
- Rosie (10/5): epic - there was a kitchen! funny guy (in a good way)
- Lisa (2/5): - I have sent an email to yourselves regarding this booking. This was totally misleading it was a room in a shared apartment we did not stay there and I would like a refund. We didn’t even know how to get into the apartment. I would like a response from you as soon as possible.
- B K (2/5): Stay away from this property! - I booked an apartment in the City and ended up in a room in Tower Hamlets (supposedly there was a problem with City Apartments about which I was informed only the day before). Bathroom of questionable cleanliness. No kitchen, not even a water kettle. No toiletries that were promised. And on top of this I waited 30 minutes outside the property for someone to check me in.
- Jefferson (4/5): - The whole place needs to be ripped out and redone. It's horrific really. Had to wear plastic bags on my feet into the shower. It's literally a place of last resort booking. It did have a decent working iron and ironing board though and is secure but it's filthy
- Svea (8/5): - Mehmet is a gracious host and went out of his way to make me feel welcome in his property. Spacious, clean, comfy, and ideally situated I was beyond pleased with City Apartments. A stone's throw from Liverpool Street, the area is wonderful not just for connections, but for the restaurants and shops.
The only feedback is that while there is a kitchenette with a microwave and kettle, plates and bowls, as well as mugs and cutlery (and even a washing machine!) there were no pots and pans in as I was staying there which limited my options for dinner significantly. I had hoped to cook a couple of meals but ended up eating out. It worked well for me as my work had plenty of socials going on that I could follow along with, but in future, it is something that I would like to see improved on!
All in all, my stay was absolutely wonderful, the bed was really comfortable - I slept exceptionally all nights. On top of that the apartment stayed cool despite the deathly heat of London in the week I was there. And, of course, Mehmet was lovely.
Thanks so much for a pleasant stay! I am grateful I did not have to stress about my place of residence while on a work trip.
- Nicholas (6/5): - Room too small. Good location though.
- Jordan (8/5): - Great service and accommodation. Looking forward to staying again
- Jo (8/5): Check-in process not the best - Checking in process wasn’t good couldn’t get in. Had to phone hotels.com who then tracked down the owner of property. It was pouring with rain and I was late for a dinner reservation
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The property is in a filthy state in a very run down street. The shower was broken wit no hot water, the toilet seat was hanging off. There was one tiny horrible bathroom shared between 4 bedrooms. I did not feel at all safe. It cost £131.00 which I would normally pay at the Doubletree in Chelsea. Total rip-off and utterly horrible place closer to a crack-den than a hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Kitchen clean and doors code were very simple and convenient to use
- michael (2/5): Get what you pay for - Well I guess you get what you pay for. Tiny shoebox room, very average bed, drab decore and a cold shower. Location very handy though.
The manager who let me in was polite and friendly.
