It’s an odd thing to say but the Principe di Savoia is the best smelling hotel I’ve ever been to. It’s like they pump out a signature scent on each floor. Also the pool and the spa were a welcome break from sightseeing.

The hotel was perfectly located for us to be able to walk to restaurants and to the train station for day trips to Torino and Como. The hotel itself is incredible. The rooms are amazing, as is the bar and restaurant where we had a brilliant breakfast every morning. The cocktails in the bar were first class and perfect for a pre-dinner drink. The staff are the best part of the hotel. They always have a smile and are so welcoming. A special mention to Rosy, who is an absolute credit to the hotel. She really took care of us and made sure our stay was as memorable as it could be. Her recommendations were perfect for us and the overall support was first class. I can’t thank her enough for making this trip so enjoyable. We are definitely planning to return when we visit Milan again!
- vastgotta (10/5): Old-World Elegance - I recently stayed at the Hotel Principe di Savoia for a quick one-night business trip that included a corporate event, and it exceeded my expectations on every front. The Arrival & Atmosphere Despite arriving after midnight, the check-in process was seamless. The lobby is incredibly stylish and grand, it managed to feel surprisingly warm and friendly—a rare balance for a high-end hotel. The staff made me feel welcome immediately, which was much appreciated after a long day of travel. The Room: A Step Back into the good times The hallways and rooms offer a fantastic "vintage" vibe, transporting you back to a more glamorous era without feeling dated. The attention to detail is remarkable: * The Bed: Exceptionally comfortable; I had a great night's sleep. * The Linens: The towels were noticeably fluffy and high-quality. * The Layout: My only minor disappointment was that the bathroom featured a bath-and-shower combo rather than a walk-in shower (even though the style required a bath), but the overall aesthetic and comfort more than made up for it. Dining & Events * Breakfast: The quality was top-tier, featuring a wide selection of fresh, high-end options (many yoghurts to choose from) * Coffee: I spent time in the events room for a corporate function, and I have to mention the coffee—it was excellent and kept me energized through the sessions. Bottom Line: My only regret is that I wasn't staying longer. the Principe di Savoia offers a level of character and service that is hard to find. I will definitely be back.
- daviesra (8/5): Almost 5 stars - This hotel is old fashioned style and quality. There are lots of things to like. I had a great room, quite large and well appointed with a very comfy bed. The location is a bit out of the centre but there are plenty of trams and a subway line close by. Plus the hotel has a minibus which goes into the city. Valentina who greeted me when I arrived was particularly kind and helpful throughout my stay and provided all sorts of extras for me. The concierge staff were helpful and friendly as were the front desk staff. I was touched to be remembered by name by the breakfast greeter and I didn’t have to repeat my room number. Where it’s let down is in the door staff who were unfriendly and didn’t turn up when i ordered in advance a porter to help with my luggage. Given my room was a distance from the lift and included stairs this was disappointing, particularly as I observed porters helping other guests ( male) who didn’t look like they really needed help.
- SupermomAfrica (10/5): Exceptional Stay with Outstanding Service! - My check-in experience was fantastic! I was greeted by Jérémie, a wonderful fellow who escorted me to my room and gave me a tour. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the pillow ensured I got my full eight hours of sleep. I also enjoyed a delightful breakfast. The friendly lady at the reception allowed me some extra time so I could take a swim before heading back to London. I’ll definitely be back this summer!
- Sarah1703 (10/5): Girls weekend - Visited in November for a girls trip. A lovely traditional hotel - staff very friendly and helpful on check-in. It was my friend’s birthday - so the addition of wine and cake ( gluten free!) was a really appreciated gesture. Breakfast was good- and we used the shuttle to and from the hotel daily which was very useful - due to the terrible weather whilst we were there! We had to request coffee/ tea making facilities to our room - which was accommodated. I find it strange they aren’t in rooms as standard. We stayed in a mosaic room which was well kept and beds very comfortable. I would stay again and recommend this hotel.

From the first impression to the front desk greeting to the room to the food and everything in between this hotel really wowed us. Went there on arrival from the states exhausted and jet lagged and these people were amazing ! The details of this hotel.. wood moldings light fixtures art fabrics etc were just over the top! Also … so convenient to Milano céntrale if you are traveling elsewhere In Italy Don’t hesitate to book this hotel!

The care the staff put into every interaction was stellar. From the attentive housekeepers, to the stellar restaurant and bar staff, every person from top to bottom seemed determined to provide a delightful guest experience. Special call out to Vanessa in guest experiences who went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable and even surprised us with a personalized gift on our last day at the property. I would recommend this hotel to anyone not wanting to stay in the busy crowds around the Duomo. The hotel’s complimentary shuttle and nearby Metro access make getting around Milan very easy. I would definitely stay at this property again.
- michelk136 (10/5): How To Make A Great Hotel Even Better - What do you do to make an old, famous, and distinguished hotel even better. Renovations that enhance its grandeur and opulence and updating and creating a state of the art gym center and beautiful pool to swim laps in certainly help. But foremost and most important is the fabulous service and attention to detail provided by its staff and overseen by its Director of Guest Experience, Mr Silvano Corcione. After a recent brief stay, prior to a wonderful Backroads experience in Piedmont, my buddy friend roomate responded to a guest survey by saying that the bed mattress was not firm enough for him. Within a day or two he received a call from Silvano to discuss the issue. To keep it short, suffice it to say that when we returned a week later, not only was the problem fixed, but he met us at the front desk where we received a substantial upgrade to their beautiful Ambassador Suite. This type of response is what makes a great hotel even better. This process of recovery not only takes care of the issue but makes the stay even more memorable and enjoyable than if nothing had ever happened. Grazie Mille to Silvano and his wonderful staff. I will definitely be back… again and again😊🙏

- Yvonnereto (10/5): Timeless Legend, and super friendly - We were able to stay at the Príncipe for our Trip from Zurich to Milan. The iconic Luxury Hotel is close to Milano Centrale, perfectly located for both, sightseeing and Business. With spectacular views all over the City from its Rooms and especially the Rooftop Terrasse Next to the spa/pool. The Service was from entry to departure impeccable, charming and highly efficient. All our wishes were fulfilled trough Reception, Room Service and the Housekeeping. Everybody makes a Great Job and the friendly Concierge was very helpful to Plan our tour trough the City. For dinner we had a Special wish Regarding the Menu cards, wich the Receptionist asked the Maitre & Chef, and the made it possible. Fantastic. Especially the Maitre of the great Acanto Gourmet Restaurant, Signora Martina Casati, is such a warm, cheerful and wonderful Host. The polyglott Maitre made some Extras Regarding allergies or Special wishes possible with ease. The Food itself - of course - exquisit, including some delicacies in between the courses as amouse bouches. For breakfast we enjoyed the impressive and Absolutely delicious buffet with all its temptations. We had an Great Waiter, he was very helpful, brought good mood to the Atmosphere with his friendly manner and Charme. We were very Lucky, be coincidence, to be able to receive an Upgrade to our Rooms. The Marble Bathrooms Are just beautiful, the large beds unbeliveable cuddly and comfortable, the airconditioning is on point and the furniture is exclusive, opulent and brings the athmosphere of a palazzo. We enjoyed our stay very much and can highly recommend the Hotel. Grazie!

- Bucky6478 (10/5): Outstanding Hotel - Hotel Principe di Savoia is a lovely hotel for a stay in Milan. While it may cater a bit towards a business crowd, the hotel is beautiful, comfortable, and convenient - it has fantastic amenities and offers world class service. The hotel is located close to the main train station and about a mile from central Milan and all tourist sites; an easy cab ride or subway (Repubblica station right next to hotel), and they offer complimentary shuttle service to central Milan on preset schedule. The decor is art deco with Italian and modern flair (with funky art/pictures). Lobby is small but has an inviting atmosphere. We arrived for a recent stay in the late morning and were able to check in early and received a fantastic, upgraded room on the 9th floor. Room was large, well appointed and very comfortable. No view but that's OK. Bathroom was also spacious. The gym/spa on the 10th floor is great. Very modern gym equipment and enough variety. They have an outdoor terrace where one can sunbathe. Spa has steam, sauna, pleasant indoor pool and hot tub. Food & Beverage: - Breakfast at Accanto is wonderful and comparable to hotels of this caliber, which is a high bar; normally €48 (unless included in booking). Accanto is a beautiful restaurant - did not otherwise dine there though - Had drinks and dessert at the Principe Bar, which is right off the lobby. The bar is a lovely (although a bit dark) and elegant bar to relax and enjoy overpriced cocktails. Splurged on their signature "El Milanes" cocktail which is EUR30 - it has a unique backstory, flavor profile and vessel, but would not necessarily recommend other than for the novelty and instagram post. Overall, would highly recommend this hotel.

The front desk clerk upgraded our room to a large/gorgeous suite. The morning buffet was fantastic. Great selection of breads and fruits as well as delicious to order omelettes. I regularly bump into friends or colleagues in the lobby or at breakfast and would not have otherwise known they were in town. The rooms are large, well appointed, with big bathrooms and seperate showers and bath-tubs. The service is impeccable. The rooftop pool and spa are great and the concierge offer a wealth of information and assistance booking restaurants, theatre, opera, recommending exhibitions, etc. The breakfast buffet is vast and delicious with lots of excellent à la carte options.

- jewelz2022 (10/5): An Old School Classic - I had a pleasant 3-day stay at the Hotel Principe Di Savoia. This is an old-fashioned 5-star hotel providing adequate amenities and services. However, given its size and depending on busyness, some services will take longer. In the evening of my birthday, I was surprised to find a cake champagne waiting for me in my room. I feel this is a sweet touch, since I did not expressively tell them. I would also like to highlight the efficiency its in-room dining service during the early hours in the morning, which all arrived at the exact time I requested. As for the hotel interior and rooms, this is a historical property, so you will find signs showing its age, but in my opinion, this hotel has been properly maintained while keeping its neoclassical design from the early 1900s. The rooms are clean and equipped with modern double-glazing windows, shielding much of the incoming noise. I personally enjoyed its gym with a rooftop view of Milano. As some of previous reviews have indicated, the front desk did notify me about its additional service charge during check out, which I respectfully declined without feeling being pressured. In summary, this hotel certainly lived up to 5-star standard and offers good value for the price.

- Brendafromdublin (10/5): Magnificent! - Just home from a 2 night stay in this most magnificent hotel and cannot recommend it highly enough. From the time our car pulled up, we experienced outstanding customer service from absolutely each and every member of staff. We were made to feel in the warmest and most friendly way. The hotel itself is old world glamorous and beautiful. The room decor is opulent and luxurious. The bed was insanely comfortable with gorgeous bed linen, down pillow and quilt - just fab! The only downside was that our room (316) didn’t have great daylight - due to the style and size of window, so if that’s important to you, might be worth highlighting. It didn’t matter to us as there were plenty of lamps and we weren’t in the room much during the day anyway. All in all, we had a wonderful stay and would not stay anywhere else when in Milano.

Had a minor glitch regarding breakfast inclusion and Valentina resolved immediately and proceeded to ensure during our entire stay that we were satisfied and taken care of. Dulcetti (I know i have it wrong), the hostess at breakfast, greeted us by name every day, checked up to be sure all was to our liking and even gave us some takeaway for our long trip home. Concierge was helpful with recommendations and dinner reservations. My wife love the quilt which she felt just meted into us. Had drinks at the bar and not only some tidbits of olives, popcorn and chips also an unexpected amuse bouchee. This was our final stop after over two weeks of traveling and truly was the icing on the cake.
- paulbradford1705 (10/5): Fabulous hotel stay - We went to the Principe Di Savoia with friends for a couple of nights, and the welcome from the moment we arrived to our departure was nothing short of amazing. Every member of staff we came into contact with made sure we were comfortable. The environment the restaurant and bars were simply stunning and the service outstanding. We had been upgraded and the rooms were beautifully decorated very spacious and the beds were so comfortable with softest pillows and the bathroom floor to ceiling marble. Our housekeeper Valentina did a superb job of looking after our room and she was lovely. The bar is a beautiful place to relax unwind and have a drink and Fillipo and Roberto took great care of us. Special thanks to our lovely housekeeper and to Roberto and Fillipo, Mirko, Valentina, Andrea, and of course all the restaurant staff. Thankyou so much to the team, we can’t wait to return!

- santamonicaadelaide (10/5): Fantastic place - Brilliant place. Staff is very cheerful. The rooms are insane cool. Beautiful old school marble walls. Very 1930’s Italy. Not modern. Luxurious sheets. Beautiful. Watch out for the showers. Slippery. And the tradition from the shower to the sleepier marble floor takes some patience and focus. Easy to slip. Also, the rooms are hot when you arrive. Ask for the temperature to be adjusted and make sure they come to the room to do that. They say they can do it “remote” but that did not work for me. Breakfast tea is also great. Service cheerful and food is amazing. Great, quiet location.

However, my experience was far from luxurious—it’s clear they may not know what a true luxury experience entails. Firstly, the hotel layout is very inconvenient, with numerous steps throughout, making it impossible to roll your luggage without carrying it yourself up and down stairs. To my surprise, an additional €40 in “tips” was included on my bill. This hidden charge was never mentioned beforehand, and it’s something I’ve never encountered in any five-star hotel. Typically, guests choose how and when to tip for service, not as an unannounced, mandatory fee added at the end. It felt misleading and inappropriate, especially considering the amount was almost $50. The hotel itself is outdated, with steps and floors that creak with every movement. For a property that brands itself as luxurious, this was a serious letdown. This was honestly my first time writing a poor review, but I feel it’s necessary to let other travelers know what to expect. I won’t be returning, and I’d advise others to consider different options if they’re looking for a true luxury experience.

Very kind and welcoming service but I have to drop one star for some gaps in attention to details. We reserved a twin room and a double and confirmed this at check-in, however had to re-ask when the twin was also a double bed (vs two separate) - they corrected whilst we were out to dinner. Since our room wasn’t ready when we checked in (appropriately since we arrived before the 3pm check-in) the gentleman said he would text me when the room was ready, but I never got a text. Finally, the air conditioning intermittently made a noise like it was raining which was a minor annoyance All the above said, more as feedback, the hotel is beautifully maintained and rooms, bed, bathroom very well appointed - so can recommend but would say that for a 5* L hotel the details should matter

- Colin Scott (10/5): - The Principe di Savoia is a Dorchester Collection property and follows the same high standards as other properties in London and Paris. The rooms are well-appointed and comfortable and the restaurant offers creative takes on classic Italian and Milanese dishes. The hotel is on the Piazza Della Republica, which isn’t the prettiest area of the city, but on the backside of the hotel is a walkway that leads to the vibrant Porta Nuova and Corso Como neighbourhoods. The Principe di Savoia staff is professional, accommodating, and aim to make your stay memorable.

The restaurant didn’t cater particularly well for Coeliacs but we had a celebration dinner with friends and they were made to feel very welcome. The concierge gave us great gluten free eating recommendations We will definitely visit again, thank you.
