- Sittaubria (10/5): Five-star elegance and luxury but zero attitude - What a spectacular and special hotel. It is right in the heart of the action but due to its size and position on the river, the Excelsior is a tranquil oasis from the crowds. You will not receive better, more attentive service anywhere. Some historic luxe hotels like this can feel like museums, or worse, like you’ve stepped into an overpriced boutique where the staff is judging you. Not here. The staff are without exception friendly, open, and welcoming. (The St Regis is across the courtyard from the Excelsior, in case you’re comparing locations - I think the Excelsior provides the same level of luxury but with what I suspect is a great deal more acknowledgment of Bonvoy elite status.) Breakfast was a treat and the rooftop restaurant is gorgeous. I am in love with this hotel and can’t wait to return.
- Steviebas (10/5): Very nice hotel on the River Arno - great views!!! - We stayed at the Excelsior hotel for four nights in late April/early May. The hotel is located right on the banks of the river Arno, directly across a small square from the St Regis hotel. Our room was a large king room with small balcony overlooking the river, on the second floor. The view back towards Florence and Ponte Vecchio was amazing. The balcony is not wide enough for the chairs that are in the room, however, at a push, you can put the chair in, half out and it works well. I delete a couple of bistro chairs and a table would make it perfect for morning coffee. The room was very large and had ample space for all of our luggage. The bathroom was a good size with a large tub and shower over. The bed was medium soft and very comfortable. The air-conditioning in the room worked very well. We did not dine in the hotel, however, we had breakfast delivered for room service a few times. The menu choices are fine and service was efficient. We did spend a few hours on the rooftop Terrace. It has some great views over Florence and it’s an ideal sport for some tapas and cocktails. In terms of location, it is less than a 10 minute walk to each of Ponte Vecchio, Academia, and Uffizi Gallery. The Duomo sits in between those three. That are plenty of restaurants and cafés nearby. The main shopping area is also less than 10 minutes. On the opposite bank of the river is the more authentic part of Florence where there are many many street cafés, restaurants, and gelato shops. Overall, the Excelsior is a great place to stay in Florence. Would definitely recommend it and would come back again.

- nelatt (2/5): Mind blowing incompetence regarding guests who use a vehicle to pick up or drop off luggage and passangers - Our stay was good except on the day we left my husband picked up a rental car and drove to the hotel to pick me up However that is a restricted area and the hotel people said it was ok for a 5 min pick up we got a ticket for 195 euros when we got home I spoke to many people at the hotel and asked them to help with the ticket since there was no other was to get our luggage and me outside of that zone I was told lady year that they would take care of this However 10 month later we hit another letter from Florence regarding the same ticket The amount and lack of service from this hotel is mind boggling Do not stay there if u happen to have a car

- pauldR5391FX (10/5): Exceptional Spot in Florence - We had a wonderful week in Florence. The service and facility is exceptional. I am a Bonvoy lifetime e titanium and I’ve seen hotels both good and poor. This one is very good. The staff were helpful and attentive from the bellman to the waiters on the rooftop bar. - sandracC649UM (10/5): EXCELSIOR LUXURY AT ITS FINEST - My daughter and I recently stayed at The Excelsior, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Florence, and while the hotel itself is beautiful, what really made the stay stand out was Massimo Parlanti, the Hospitality Ambassador. We attended the Fashion Week reception, and from the moment we walked in, Massimo set the tone. He is a rare gem combining warmth, professionalism, and genuine care for his guests. He was personally involved in making sure everything went smoothly for us from the moment we walked in, he introduced us to a local artisan, Zia Caterina, and a number of other guests. He truly is an ambassador! He greeted us by name, asked about the reason for our trip, and made us feel welcome right away. Throughout our stay, he was present and approachable, always checking in without ever feeling intrusive. His knowledge of the property's history, his eloquence brought the property to life. We had a few special requests during our stay, and he handled all of them quickly and with a true “nothing is too much trouble” attitude. Things that could have turned into small annoyances were taken care of so smoothly that they became non-issues. What impressed me most, though, was his genuine kindness and clear passion for what he does. It’s obvious he cares about both the guests and his team, and that energy really lifts the whole atmosphere of the hotel. The Excelsior is already a stunning place in a wonderful city, but Massimo—especially in his role as Hospitality Ambassador—is what gives it real character and heart. Because of Massimo Parlanti’s outstanding hospitality and leadership, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at The Excelsior again on my next visit to Florence, and I’ll definitely be recommending it to friends and colleagues. - 374grahamj (10/5): Great Hotel in Florence - We had a wonderful 7 day stay. Everything from start to finish was perfect. Our Marriott Titanium status was valued and we were fortunate to receive a nice upgrade since there were rooms available as well as breakfast. The breakfast was one of the best I have had and included an omelette/egg station as well as juices, breads, pastries, cheese, yogurt. etc. The staff were very friendly and helpful and passionate about their jobs. The view from the top floor bar/restaurant was impressive. Our first day we went up just to get the view and one of the staff pointed out the various landmarks in the city. The location worked out very well and we enjoyed the walk to various restaurants and attractions. If needed, there was always a taxi waiting out front. The fitness center was open 24 hours which was appreciated.

The rooms were new and fashionable. However, the best part of this hotel was its staff. They were very friendly and helpful. They continually brought surprises to our room. Costanza at reception deserves special mention (forgive me if I am a bit off on the name). She went out of her way to help us. She was exceedingly friendly but in genuine way. She is truly one of the reason our stay was so wonderful.

The Cosimo Rooftop Restaurant staff were amazing and the dinner was absolutely top notch. The selection at breakfast at the Sala Caminetto was somewhat limited. A wider selection for breakfast would have pushed our stay over the top and is a relatively easy fix for the Hotel.
- fromAtl (10/5): FABULOUS!!! - The Excelsior Fabulous staff, very attentive and responsive to needs. We stayed in a corner room with windows that opened to small balconies overlooking the river. Each evening, we enjoyed the beautiful sunset as we stood on the balcony. The ceilings are so high in the room that it makes it feel even more spacious. The closet has multiple hangers as well as a shoe brush, shoe horn and cleaning cloth. The bathroom offers very nice Italian bath products as well as items one may have left at home: Q-tips, emery board, shower caps. The bathroom even has a bidet. The bed is so very very comfortable. The room has multiple areas of storage with furnishings that are both beautiful and functional with drawers. I really can’t speak enough of how beautiful and comfortable the room and the hotel are! We ate dinner at the rooftop restaurant the first night we arrived, and everything was beyond delicious! Even the bread service with the homemade focaccia, unbelievably beautiful fresh tomatoes, and mozzarella was so good. I had the spaghetti with clams, and my husband enjoyed the lobster pasta. We also had the fabulously delicious Eleanora cocktail. The view is unbelievable from this vantage point. Another evening, we went to the rooftop just to enjoy a cocktail and the view. A special recognition to: -Naomi, front desk manager, for fabulous customer service and follow up. Naomi, Ed and I did enjoy different types of lasagna in Bologna! -Emanuele, creator of The Eleanora, our favorite drink at the upstairs bar, who was a joy to speak with and who offered great customer service -Massimo, head concierge, we first met upon arrival and who was such a great representative of the brand. Massimo, I have attached a picture of our time in the Dolomites! -Stefano, one of the fabulous front desk and concierge representatives, escorted us to our room and told us all about the hotel. He would greet us warmly every time we saw him afterward. Ed and I hope to return soon to this fabulous place!

- Explorer35954448819 (2/5): Very Disappointing Special Occassion Experience - I originally did not intend to publish a public review of this hotel. However, after filling out a Marriott survey about my experience at the hotel, I received a very strange email from this hotel that was both highly combative and confrontational. This really soured my overall perspective of our stay even more and has motivated me to write out this review. I found my stay at the Excelsior to be frustrating and deeply disappointing across both soft and hard product. We were traveling to get married in Italy and spent the night before moving to our wedding hotel at the Excelsior hoping it would be special. It was also part of my wife’s combined birthday and honeymoon trip as her birthday was one week after our stay. Unfortunately, we felt very unwelcome from the start. Perhaps this is because we redeemed our Bonvoy Brilliant award to book this stay. From our perspective, this was no different than us paying $650 for the hotel night as that was the annual fee on the card we paid to receive the night. The hotel clearly did not feel this way and repeatedly reminded us that we were booked on an award stay. When we asked the Bonvoy team if the Excelsior could do anything special for our stay and my Bonvoy Titanium status, they told the Bonvoy team that they would not provide anything as a matter of policy. To be fair, upon checking in they did allow us to choose from a selection of 3 standard base rooms with different views. We selected one of these options but this brings me to my frustrations with the hotel’s aging hard product. The rooms are simply not maintained well with stains and scuffs littered throughout the property. While sometimes wear and tear can add depth and character to a room (see the St. Regis Florence across the street), the state of our Excelsior room left us with questions about overall cleanliness. This was especially true for the bathroom which was both extremely small and, frankly, dirty. The most positive aspect of this hotel is its incredible location. It is truly in the heart of the city. However, the same can be said for a myriad of other properties including the St. Regis across the street which also participates in Marriott Bonvoy. We stayed at that hotel previously and had a magnificent stay! I wish I had booked that hotel for this trip instead. Overall, I would never return to this property in the future. It is a shame to ever feel unwelcome at a hotel as a guest but it was particularly unfortunate to have that experience on such an important trip. I can only imagine what type of response (either public or private) this review will elicit but I am gla

A lovely young woman (maybe Hannah - she had a cute infant son who we met one night) checked us in and upgraded us automatically. She personally accompanied us to our room which had a bottle of wine and welcome note. The balcony is so lovely for watching the sunset. And I can not recommend the upstairs bar enough - breathtaking views. The concierge Beatrice emailed us before our arrival. I asked her about massage options and she arranged our appointments at the St. Regis which was perfect. The library lobby was comfortable and great for relaxing. The breakfast buffet was a great start to the day. A perfect stay!

Delicious breakfast, awesome restaurant & rooftop bar, and great amenities. But the service was what really stood out to us. My husband’s luggage was stuck at the London airport for all 5 days of our trip. The concierge was actively working with us to get information about the bag, and get it sent over immediately. They worked tirelessly with calls, emails, etc to airport staff. Our very last day we were checking out, headed to our train to Rome and the concierge notified us the bag had finally touched down in Florence, and they were able to get it on an immediate taxi over. We got the bag and made our train to Rome with the help of all the staff. Special thanks to Andrea and Nico who were a huge help to us. All the staff is extremely professional, friendly, and they really care about making your stay exceptional. They turned our stresses into laughs and we will never forget the kindness the whole Excelsior team showed us during our special stay. - US-Traveler2024 (10/5): A Shinning Gem in Florence - I had a wonderful stay at the newly rebranded Excelsior, a Luxury Collection Hotel, in Florence. Although there was a change to my itinerary and the reservation was modified at a reasonably late time, the staff on the property went above and beyond to accommodate me during the busy summer travel period, despite the hotel being at high occupancy. I wish to extend a heartfelt recognition and thanks to Ilatia, who was so warm and offered assistance at great length to ensure the stay was a comfortable and memorable one. The property is a historic building with a rich history, and a refined and up-to-date interior that preserves its legacy. The staff explained during check-in that the hotel has hosted many distinguished guests over the years, including celebrities. The guest room allocated was on the top floor and came with a lovely private terrace, featuring plenty of outdoor seating and a fantastic view of Florence and the Arno River. Overall, I was very impressed with the hotel's service, amenities, and location, which is within a short walk of all major sights and restaurants. I highly recommend this property and look forward to returning next time I visit Florence.

Never more than a 15 minute walk from anything, spectacular service, and updated public areas to give the hotel a nice mix of classic and modern. The concierge was fantastic - Andrea helped us get tickets to the Duomo when a misunderstanding deep-sixed our scheduled tour, despite the fact that it was impossible. And don’t miss the newly renovated rooftop bar/restaurant for a spectacular sunset. Not even remotely affordable at full rate, but part of the Marriott family of hotels, so deals (relatively speaking) are occasionally possible, and no matter what you definitely get value for your money. A real winner!

- Departure60172062290 (10/5): Elegant hotel - worthy of 5 stars - It was wonderful to return to this stunning hotel, ideally set on the banks of the river Arno, just a 10 minute stroll from the Ponte Vecchio. The hotel is quiet, beautiful and the epitome of 5 star. The beds are sumptuous. We opted for a premium guest room with an Arno view, and felt it was definitely worth the extra cost. My only criticism is that the rooms lack a coffee machine, something that’s quite important to me. Unfortunately the roof top bar was closed on this visit but we have enjoyed that on a previous stay at the hotel. It did however give us the opportunity to try the elegant lobby bar. The gym in the basement has everything you need, and feels reasonably airy for a hotel gym. We would definitely return in the future!

As mentioned in many reviews, they truly are great. What was special for us is that they really go “above and beyond.” A member of our family has special needs due to a health issue. Every single request in that regard was not only accomodated by the hotel but cheerfully and helpfully - never “this can’t be done.” That is truly exceptional.

Prior to our arrival, the concierge team addressed all of my emails and assisted with dinner recommendations and reservations as well as arranging private tours. Where do I begin with the attention and exceptional customer service extended by Beatrice in Guest Relations and Noemi, the Front Desk Manager? Both went out of their way to make our stay special and to facilitate our daughter’s transition to the hotel from her Florence Study Abroad program apartment. Nothing we asked was too much trouble and every question met with a smile. We so enjoyed getting to know both of them and they added to our experience that much more. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and professional. Despite the hotel undergoing a renovation, we did not feel our stay was impacted. The breakfast buffet in the Presidential Suite was a perfect alternative to the restaurant and was very comprehensive with a beautiful view. - Stephen (10/5): Superb - We've visited Florence several times now and always loved walking pas this iconic building with the view that one day I would stay there. This visit that goal materialised. A great reception from the ladies in reception led us to our room facing the Arno River. The room was huge, king sized bed, and bathroom well appointed. Clean and spacious. Superb bedroom. Breakfast is also a treat. They have a chef who makes the most fantastic omlettes, and the stocking of the buffet breakfast is done maticuloulsly. Our go-to hotel from now on when we will inevitably return to Florence.

- marav972 (10/5): A Beautiful Hotel in a Beautiful City - We felt wrapped in luxury from the minute we stepped through the revolving door into the beautiful lobby. Porters took our luggage and showed us to the front desk where the clerk went over and above assisting us, answering our many questions. Our room was large and luxurious and the large beautiful bathroom offered a separate shower and oversized bathtub, with all the amenities you could want. The concierge desk was extremely helpful and all assistance was done with a smile. We were located across from the Arno near a wide variety of restaurants and within easy walking distance of Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo, and the Ufizzi Gallery. We hope to return to beautiful Florence and would be happy to stay at this hotel again.

- I5223DOaustink (2/5): horrible experience. definitely not a 5 star hotel. - what a horrible experience. this is supposed to be a five star hotel? paid for a superior upgraded room and received a different room. the hotel justified it by stating that the room faced the river which is what i booked. no, i booked an upgraded room with a river view. more importantly, we were placed on the first floor right above the restaurant and the lobby and could hear everything happening below us well into the night. we could even hear the chairs dragging across the floors, the lobby music that played past midnight, and the constant conversation occurring below us and in the neighboring rooms. my wife and i never request service to our room as we prefer to not have people in our room. in turn, we ask for the normal replacement of water and towels every other day or so. we had to request this over and over again before we eventually just went downstairs and retrieved it ourselves. when we tried to speak to the hotel about the issues, they advised they didn't have a solution other than moving us to a new room the day before we checked out or providing us free buffet breakfast for our stay. this was priced at $55/person for a cold mediocre continental breakfast. we were staying there for 6 days and our stay cost over $6000. what a disappointment. 5 star hotel? more like 3 star. we stayed at the Marriot in Rome right before this that is considered a 4 star and it was SIGNIFICANTLY better in all avenues. if you're looking for a 5 star experience, stay away from this property.

There was confusion with the method of payment for the accommodation, which Eva dealt with professionally and to whom we owe gratitude. She was always very helpful and friendly. Nico the concierge was also extremely helpful and booked tickets for us to visit museums and galleries. Breakfast was lovely with a selection of various options. Both cold and hot foods available. Nothing really. It was all very enjoyable.

Staff so friendly and really went out of the way to make us feel welcome. Room is beautiful and they go the extra mile, leaving chocolates and even a bottle of wine and snacks. Breakfast buffet is wonderful. You can’t go wrong if you are looking for a luxury hotel in Florence.
- X4592IYsamanthag (10/5): Best trip ever! - We loved Florence so much! We loved our time visiting the Westin. My family and i were so eager to arrive to see Salvatore at the Westin. This is a huge part of why we decided to visit the Westin, because we made connections with Salvatore at the St Regis, on a prior vacation. We absolutely adore him, and he treats our family so nicely and helps us with dinner recommendations and is so helpful and kind throughout our whole stay! Everytime we come back, we look forward to seeing him, and we would never come to Florence without seeing Salvatore!
- L5440JFcaroleg (10/5): Excellent trip! - We absolutely loved our experience in Florence. We couldn’t wait to arrive and be greeted by Salvatore! He is our absolute favorite. We follow him, wherever he goes. Salvatore suggests the best dinner recommendations for my to dine at. We even had two other places we were going to eat at, but he knows us so well that he suggested we try two others that he felt were a better fit. We love Florence, and the visiting the Westin. However we love Salvatore’s hospitality and care for our family.
- Abdulaziz (8/5): Very good - Location. Hotel was undergoing some very noisy renovations that we were not informed of before hand. Woke up to drilling sounds at 9 AM and they seem to stop at 3 PM.

- lmlorieb (10/5): Perfect stay at the Westin excelsior - This Hotel was our favorite of the 3 hotels we stayed at in Italy. The service was amazing … the staff couldn’t do enough for you. The breakfast was so delicious and one of the highlights of our trip. The hotel is centrally located and in walking distance to the Ponte vecchio and many of the cities attractions. I would highly recommend this hotels while staying in Florence
- NEohiotraveler (10/5): Thank you Westin! - We had to leave an awful Airbnb location and I felt like I RAN to the Westin! It was so beautiful - just what I needed. The basic room was spectacular, the breakfast was spectacular and each staff member was spectacular. We had such a wonderful experience, now I may have to buy the heavenly bed too.
- Bowercity2002 (10/5): Perfect location for a few days in Florence - Staff so very kind and thoughtful - great location and a little more quiet. Beautiful views of ARNO. Rooms with views worth it! Especially appreciated being on square next to Church where Botticelli is buried and part of the Vespucci neighborhood.

The location and service are impeccable. It is an impressive and historic building, beautifully maintained and in spot condition. Beds are so comfortable and sheets are soft. Breakfast includes all the choices you would expect for such a hotel. We should have stayed longer, 3 nights was not enough.

- Alanood (8/5): Very good - Location is excellent. The lobby looked very festive and it was very nice during the holiday. I was surprised to learn that there isn’t a coffee machine in the room. Morning coffee is really important for me while traveling and I wanted to get it from the comfort of my room.
