• Iris (2/5): - Die Klimaanlagen haben bei 34 grad nicht funktioniert und man konnte 1 Fenster kippen. Das Personal nimmt sich dem Problem leider nicht an. Haben das Hotel nach der ersten Nacht verlassen und uns die restlichen zwei Tage erstatten lassen. Das Hotel schließt in einem Monat. Leider merkt man das dem Personal auch an.
• Patricia (6/5): - I stayed with my boyfriend in this Hotel for four days, mainly just to have a place to sleep. We didn’t really spend a lot of time inside of the hotel. Overall, it’s not a bad place to stay but definitely not the worst as well. The room was clean, tidy, and seemed pretty good. The beds where comfortable, and it had free Wi-Fi. The staff where nice, which was one of the things I thought differently by reading other reviews. The breakfast was okay, it doesn’t have a lot of selection, so don’t expect to eat a lot of different things. Could be improved for sure. The last two days where a bit disappointing regarding staying at the hotel for some hours to rest. This was because they where making a lot of construction noise, and for me, that was a very bad thing. I believe if they want to do that, then close the hotel to do whole construction. It is not nice to try to sleep and rest on your holiday and hear construction. After that day, I believe they fixed something about the water pipes, because, a few hours later me and my boyfriend wanted to take a shower and the water was yellow, and smelled like iron. It was not pleasant at all. The mini store on the reception of the hotel is okay and a good idea but if you lower the prices maybe you’ll get more of it. Every item was to expensive. The coffee machine is okay too, but also, 1€ would be enough for it. Overall, I rate my stay a 6 out of 10. It needs to be much improved.
• Vicki (2/5): - We were shocked at the rude front desk young man. The rooms were dirty, floors unclean, showers broken and no hot water.
• Alicia (6/5): - Wir hatten ein familienzimmer gebucht, bekommen haben wir dann 2 Hotelzimmer mit Durchgangstür in denen das eine Bad so doll gestunken hat (modrig, schimmelig), dass man die Tür zu lassen musste, duschen oder aufs WC war da nicht möglich. In den Ecken bzw. genauer sollte man bei Punkto Sauberkeit auch nicht schauen. Für uns war’s ok. Die Bilder lassen andere anderes vermuten. Zudem ist der Preis für das Frühstücksbuffet von 19,90€ viel zu überteuert. Es gibt aufgebackene billig Brötchen (wahrscheinlich die von netto) und nur billig „Nutella“ und und und. Also für den Preis erwarte ich mehr. Außerdem waren wir im 14. Stock! Und selbst da war der Straßenlärm noch sehr laut zu hören. das Personal ist aber super nett und hilfsbereit.
• Scott (8/5): - The staff at the desk were extremely friendly and accommodating. I accidentally left my key in the room and sorted it out quickly. Since I was inspired to visit Berlin because of Deutschland '83, I loved the architecture of the hotel itself. The room itself was modern and clean. We loved the water pressure in the shower! A kettle and a fridge would have made it even better. The area is a short tram journey from central Berlin. The tram stop is a 2 min walk from the hotel itself. The area was a bit eerie because it was so quiet and not super well-lit at night. However, I did some Googling and the area is one of the safest in Berlin, apparently, so perhaps it was just paranoia. I do feel like the paths to the hotel could have been more well-lit. I also think that the doors to the blocks of the hotel that do not have a manned reception should be locked with key card access. These things would have made the hotel feel safer. The hotel was great value for money and I would definitely stay again :)

• Pasquale James (2/5): - La camera presenta un arredamento datato, i cuscini sono i più scomodi mai provati, mancava l’acqua calda, mancava l’aria condizionata. Segnalate le mancanze di aria condizionata e acqua calda, non è stato proposto un cambio di stanza e neanche risolto i problemi segnalati. In camera c’erano 2 ventilatori a torretta, quindi immagino fossero a conoscenza del problema dell’aria. Abbiamo soggiornato nel periodo di agosto quindi il caldo era insopportabile, aperte le finestre il rumore era assordante. L’hotel da su una strada rumorosissima dove passano ambulanze e auto della polizia di continuo (mediamente 5 all’ora). Quando prenoto un hotel, cerco un posto per dormire comodo e una doccia.. le esigenze primarie non sono proprio state soddisfatte. Per quanto ci riguarda.. mai più!
• Enrico (4/5): - Achtung: Es gab kein warmes Wasser zum Duschen und es wurde auch nicht nach einer Lösung gesucht. Wir waren 3 Tage da und konnte nicht duschen!!! Sogar ein Rabatt wurde nicht angeboten und ist angeblich nicht möglich, wir mussten den vollen Preis bezahlen. Bitte daher nur buchen, wenn Sie nicht duschen müssen.

• Sarah (10/5): - Wir waren für eine Nacht hier um ein Konzert auf der Freilichtbühne Weißensee zu besuchen. Kurze Anbindung mit der Straßenbahn, top. Wir sind mit dem Auto angereist und konnten vor dem Hotel gegen Gebühr parken. Unsere Freunde sind mit dem Zug angereist und hatten eine gute Anbindung vom Alexanderplatz zum Hotel.Das Hotel ist modern und sauber eingerichtet und der Mitarbeiter an der Rezeption war sehr freundlich. Wir kommen gern wieder!
• Dirk (6/5): - Appartement war groß, aber ziemlich alt. Badezimmer waren zwar sauber, aber der Zustand der Armaturen etc.waren Austauschfähig. Klimaanlage funktionierte nicht. Es war dadurch sehr warm im Zimmer. Wir mussten nachts die Fenster komplett öffnen, man konnte aber dann nicht vernünftig einschlafen, weil es dadurch sehr laut war wegen dem Verkehr draußen. Empfang an der Rezeption sehr sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Haben dann zwei Standardzimmer mit Verbindungstür angeboten bekommen. Dort ging zwar die Klimaanlage, aber die Bäder sehr unpraktisch, wenn man eine Behinderung hat oder älter ist( Duschwanne). Die Badezimmer haben sehr stark unangenehm gerochen (denke Abflüsse) und auch die Armaturen wieder einmal renovierungsbedürftig ( Risse im Waschbecken). Frühstück war in Ordnung. Haben am Abreisetag dann erfahren, dass das Hotel im September schließt und eine Flüchtlingsunterkunft daraus wird.Unfassbar!!! Das erklärt natürlich den Zustand der Zimmer. Restaurant sehr teuer. Kleine Verkaufsecke mit Getränke und Knabbereien etc., völlig überteuert. Der einzige Lichtblick war das Personal, sehr lieb und hilfsbereit.
• Ian (8/5): - Prima hotel, ik snap de recente negatieve reviews echt niet!? Ontbijt is zeer uitgebreid, vers en goed. Familiekamer is echt fantastisch, wat een ruimte! Personeel is ook erg behulpzaam. Enige nadelen waren de airco welke het niet deed (en met het raam open slapen is ook niet bevallen in verband met het lawaaiige verkeer voor de deur). Gelukkig konden we een ventilator lenen bij de receptie. Dit hotel is echt een aanrader voor families die een stedentrip Berlijn doen! (Openbaar vervoer voor de deur en genoeg huurstepjes in de buurt).

• Sara (10/5): - Comfortable and recently renovated rooms, excellent value! Check-in process went smooth, the staff was professional. The location is not very central but it is easy to get anywhere by tram.
• Evita (6/5): - My stay at this hotel was not a nice one. The property tax I paid at the hotel was more than what was stated in my actual receipt from Expedia. Also, I paid for breakfast in advance (£13 x 2), however, I had to check out of the hotel earlier than expected (at 4am) due to a personal emergency. This was way earlier that the actual breakfast time of 6:30am. The previous day before my checking out, I informed the hotel at the front desk to see if I can get a refund. I was told no, however they said they would inform the kitchen to pack the complete breakfast for me so I can take along upon checkout. Guess what was packed for me! A small apple juice pack of about 50ml, one apple, one sandwich and one KitKat bar. I just shook my head and left! Not cool 👎

• Ian (2/5): - This is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. I have a travel party of 12 people, some went straight to the hotel and others including me went straight to work. When they got to the hotel, the members of my party were refused check in until I drove half way across Berlin to pay the city tax! I offered to pay by phone or give an assurance that the €80 would be paid upon my arrival later, but both of those were refused so I had to take an hour out of my working day for €80. When we all arrived back at the hotel that night it was full of school kids who were running round all the corridors making noise. On my floor, they were playing football in the corridor at gone midnight!! Even though the hotel claims to have 24hr reception, nobody in my party could contact the receptionist to deal with this. I personally tried for over 30 minutes and no call was answered. There was a smell of sewage in my bathroom. If I closed the door, the smell inside built up to an almost unbearable level, so I left the door open and suffered a slight smell throughout the entire room which would possibly have kept me awake was it not for the bedlam outside my door!! An absolute disgrace and one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL!!!
• Zahra (2/5): - The air conditioner wasn’t working in the first room and when I asked if we could check out another room the receptionist proceeded to tell me that “I can’t change 10 rooms”. I ended up booking Hotel Catalonia instead the same night we checked in and it was amazing, the staff were friendly and accommodating.

• Andrew (10/5): Forget the exterior… - Forget the exterior this hotel is great, rooms are clean and modern and breakfast catered for all tastes. All in all great value for money.
• Sharon (6/5): - Basic hotel room, spacious and lots of light. However some simple amenities missing like kettle and fridge. Had a fire alarm go off. We left the building. Staff told us to go back that it was just a fault and alarm persisted for 30 more minutes before getting turned off. Then we smelling smoke… and spoke to staff they said we should wait that the smell would go away. Walls quite thin so we could hear the music playing next door. A fair hotel but not looking forward to staying again.
• Helen (8/5): - The hotel is approx. 4 miles away from Berlin main railway station which is a 30 minute tram ride. The tram stop is an easy 5 minute walk from the hotel. The room was comfortable, clean and the has a a bath with shower over which was quite powerful. We ate at the hotel restaurant which was ok but there was nothing else in the immediate surroundings so limited choice for dining.

• Mark (8/5): Very Bad Restaurant Waitres - Generally great but one member of restaurant staff was really rude and even disrespectful. Amongst other things, she didn't take the order properly and brought the wrong item. When I queried it she implied that I was lying about what I ordred and VERY begrudgingly got it resolved. I wasn't going to leave a tip because of the poor service but decided to leave a smaller tip than normal to be kind. When she saw it she laughed and pointed it out to the other staff and rediculed it out loud! I for one won't be returning, at last to the restaurant!

• Whytefield (8/5): - City Hotel Berlin East was conveniently located for our purposes. It was close to train stops making it easy to travel throughout Berlin. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay at this hotel if I return to Berlin.

• Nestor J (8/5): - Staff pleasant always tried to help. On the 3rd and 4th day of our stay the airconditioning in the room stopped working. The front desk was supposed to send us a table fan. When we reminded them they said no fan was available. So we were in the heat for 48 hours. The hotel compensated by refunding what we paid for our breakfast. On the bright side, the hotel is close to the tram stop and shops. The restaurant in the hotel was nice. We had breakfast and dinner there.

• Alexander (10/5): - Easy access to multiple tram routes as well as reasonably priced. Modern interior, with helpful staff.
• Andreas (6/5): - The property is on the larger side, located in an Eastern suburb and seems popular with group bookings (swim teams from all over the world stayed there during my visit). I had one of the suits which had ample space but I was missing the little things that show appreciation or provide a bit of comfort - like a coffee maker in the room. For its size it was missing a proper bar, breakfast was fine but not extraordinary. The complex once had another restaurant which is no vacant. There are no bars/restaurants in the immediate vicinity, the area is residential with East German “Plattenbauten”. Two tram stops outside the hotel provide frequent services in any direction. The free public car park nearby is also a plus. Overall, a pleasant stay and the outer location is not a problem due to the good transport links. Lastly, however, the price level in the mini shop was outrageous for a hotel its class.

• maria (6/5): - The parking is not included I wasn’t sure where the information is for that so just know you pay daily. The hot water was hard to manipulate, it went out once. The male staff were lacking in customer service except for the one gentleman that helped me when my room key would not work. Others were curt and one hung up on me. I put my do not disturb sign on the door the cleaning woman banged on the door EVERY ONE of the days I was there except the last. 5 days😂 It’s clean and convenient. Overall it wasn’t too bad.

• Mike (8/5): - City Hotel Berlin East is now run by the Holiday Inn which is located in the same building. You will not find ANY signs saying City Hotel Berlin East which is super confusing when you already don't know the area
• Verified traveler (6/5): Stay was ok - Inside of our room was ok- it was warm, the style was alright and it seemed clean enough, however there were empty coke cans left in one of the shelves which were quite obvious and led us to be suspicious of how thoroughly they checked/cleaned everything. The safe didn’t work and we had booked a double bed but got twin single beds instead. The hallways/lift must’ve been in renovation but was still a bit dirty, and the lift didn’t work once or twice which was bad as we were on the 14th floor. The staff were a bit rude and due to miscommunication between them, they had chased us down about extending our checkout time even though another member told us something different. This was a bit unpleasant, and when we went down to pay the receptionist was rude/unfriendly (since apparently you needed to pay beforehand to extend your checkout time, but when we asked about it the day before and asked if we could pay then and there or at the end, we were told we could do it at the end and the person we had asked did not make a note of this conversation). Overall, the room fulfilled its purpose and we weren’t expecting much for a cheaper hotel in a city we were going to explore anyway. However, it didn’t really leave a good impression which in itself is neither here nor there with us, but we thought it was worth leaving a review about.

Could see nothing to show that is what this hotel is otherwise I would have booked somewhere else, The rooms were not soundproof. we were woke up multiple times in the night with people talking and banging, we were unable to change the temperature in the room so no heating in our control and the cleaners left the window open when it was 4 degrees outside for atleast half a day, the shower would suddenly turn boiling hot and would take ages for it to settle and change temperature. There was rust in the bathroom and a stain on a towel when we arrived.

The facilities of the room was good, it was big enough to be comfortable. Altough the walls are a bit thin and we could hear the neighboors cleary on one night. Overall we liked this hotel, highly likely we will book again when we are back to Berlin.

• james (2/5): Stay far away from this dump!!!!! - This hotel was supposed to be a 4 star hotel and maybe somehow it really is. Our stay was probably the most stressful, painful and down right disappointment we have ever experienced staying in any hotel anywhere. Berlin during this trip was hot and humid and yet hotel room was always so warm even at night that you wanted to open up windows but due to everyone down below smoking that was not a option. WiFi was down probably 90% of the time during our pre paid 7 days. Food and coffee was terrible and way to expensive. Front staff did nothing to help. We would recommend staying far away from this hotel.

Pros: Clean, provides basics, friendly staff, WiFi in rooms Cons: Paper thin walls and doors as if rooms were divided by curtain only. You hear every word spoken by neighbor without trying. Super annoying. Only one pillow per bed. No chance to prop up to read or anything while on bed. We did not visit restaurant, cannot comment, though, it costs 13 Euros per person. For half that you can find something at local bakery or elsewhere. Location is good with connections to public transport to down town in about 20 minutes. Unless you know the area, it would be challenging to find restaurants within walking distance. Area is mainly residential, not tourist oriented.

• James (8/5): First time in Berlin - perfectly acceptable - I stayed on the 12th floor in house 2. There are actually three towers or "Haus" - all of them apparently part of the same Berlin Hotel/Holiday Inn complex. Found it modern, roomy and spacious. I had a good view of the area. This is just my experience. I stayed for 4 nights. Some other I spoke with stayed together in a smaller room in Haus 3 on the 6th floor which they felt was a bit out-dated - especially the TV (which I couldn't care less about). The area is about 9 kilometers from the tourist downtown areas, like the Brandenburg Tor, The Dom, TV Tower, etc. I used the tram to get around and it required a bit of walking but not too bad. I sprung for the included breakfast which I found crowded but very adequate.
• Verified traveler (6/5): - Was disappointed, the room was very small, didn’t have amenities like an iron, a mini fridge, or anything of that sort. We had to pay for parking every time we left .. Hotel is about 30 mins from all the attractions
• Verified traveler (6/5): Decent stay, not overly impressed - This review is not just for City Hotel, but it’s shared-property Holiday Inn as well. When we arrived, check-in for both hotels is at the same counter. It took FOREVER. After getting a key to our room, we realized that the entire floor was smoking (I requested non-smoking during our booking) so we had to go back to the check-in counter. I should mention that City Hotel was full of young adults carrying bags of liquor up to their rooms. It seemed to be a constant flow of partiers in that building so I’m glad we moved. Thankfully Holiday Inn tried to remedy the situation and “upgraded” us from City Hotel to Holiday Inn. This was much better, though the room itself was more or less the same. Views were really great from the 12th floor, parking wasn’t bad (but not free), and the area is centralized and close to many things.
• Richard (2/5): - One mattress crushed with stuffing ulging, a cracked waste paper bin , nail varnish stain on the tissue dispenser and a toilet seat that was not properly fixed , the room showed a distinct lack of management inspection. All sockets to recharge phones, ipads, cameras are at ground level. Caters for the coach trade at the lowest price. Three stars would be generous
• Cathie (6/5): Functional and fair for the price - The hotel is in 3 blocks. We were in block 3. There is a notice advising to use your safe in your room, which I have no problem with, but the main door to block 3 was open, so anyone who was not staying at the hotel could enter the block, however you do have your own room key. Whilst I did feel safe, I also feel this should be addressed for security reasons. The room is a very good size, lots of space. The housekeeping was of a good standard. Unfortunately, I found only having one flat pillow per bed to not be sufficient. Breakfast - it is cheaper to order breakfast when you check in. It cost us just under 10 Euros per person and the time slot for breakfast is (I think) 6:30am-10:30am or thereabouts. For 10 Euros it is good value. There is also a vending machine on each floor, selling drinks etc, but you do need to have change for this - no notes or cards. The hotel is near the tram stops, good idea to download the BVG app to buy your tickets online prior to boarding, as again you need change to do it on the tram.
• Mohamed (6/5): Stay - Hotel has only single beds, however it is not convenient for couples for the rest its good
• Verified traveler (4/5): - Staff was unfriendly and unhelpful. They were even raising their voices at some of the other guests. Check-in was at 3pm, but they have turned a lot of groups away as the rooms weren’t ready. Didn’t finish the check in process until about an hour later. We weren’t informed upon check-in that air conditioning system wasn’t working in one part of the building, so we had to go up to our rooms only to come back down to reception and had the room replaced. The replacement was a smaller room (paid for 3pax, but was only given a room for 2), but we had to take it as there were no other rooms with ac available. No offer for a partial refund or additional amenities as we had obviously paid more. Service was abysmal. We called for an extra pillow and towels and they said they will deliver, but it still wasn’t there 45mins later. Called again to follow up and the staff who picked up the call was audibly irate and asked us to pick it up from the lobby. Asked to speak with a manager several times, but was always told that the manager is currently unavailable. I do not recommend staying at this hotel.

• Gem (8/5): Excellent staff terrible Expedia booking - Upon arrival at the hotel the staff were very pleasant and very helpful, which was very good as Expedia had not sent through the details of our booking through to the hotel. The staff were very patient and made every attempt to find us a suitable room in the hotel and fulfill the booking that Expedia had failed to send through. The hotel itself was pleasant and the facilities basic but very well maintained and of a high standard. The staff really go the extra mile to make your stay pleasant.
• shan (2/5): A total disgrace to Holiday Inn Brand and IHG - Absolutely bad service, rude at times. It took almost 15 minutes to confirm I had a booking in spite of giving my reservation number. Washroom had a strong smell which they couldn’t fix. In spite of calling to tell AC was not working, they refused to come and fix. It was scorching hot and couldn’t sleep. Terrible service at the reception. Only positive side was restaurant had an excellent service. May be they were not part of Holiday Inn.

The staff in the breakfast room are generally pretty useless - even getting a jug of cold water becomes a debacle. Totally useless place which is overrated. Rooms are not as exhibited in the pictures.

• david (2/5): It’s not hotel , more likely cheap motel - I had very bad experience, first the crew are not nice at all , very cold people, not speaking English , the service are bad , there’s NO HOT WATER during the evening 6-9 pm , I had to take shower only after midnight, the beds and pillows not comfortable, I didn’t had the option to turn the AC On and this because the temperature out side didn’t reach 25 degrees so we had to go outside the room because it’s was very HOT inside . Bottom line I DO NOT RECOMMEND This CHEAP MOTEL
