- Mike (1/5): Awful - Staff very friendly and helpful Pool area not very inviting, beach bed very uncomfortable, food dreadful, layout of the hotel chaotic and confusing- decor inside the hotel dated - will never return to this hotel
- Rebecca (5/5): Pay for the grand oasis palm save some money the sense doesn’t offer much. - That it’s close to the airport and to the Xcaret ferry to isla mujeres. Pool is okay.
Coffee shop is nice. Feels and looks and it’s old. Shower faucet broke the second day of our stay. We booked the Sens because it was supposed to be newer fancier and had more restaurants but they were closed the whole week we were there. We had to walk to the restaurants on the other resorts to have lunch and dinner.
Also, the people trying to sell you “not a time share “ but that sounds exactly as a time share are kinda annoying.

- V8312SBnatasham (2/5): If I could rate this “resort” I would rate it a 3 out of 10 - f you are looking for a true 5-star luxury vacation, DO NOT stay at The Sens Cancun. The website is completely misleading and does not accurately reflect what you actually receive.
My husband and I stayed in the Sian Ka’an Master Suite (Room 2849A) from 5/1/26-5/8/26, which was supposed to be one of their top-tier luxury accommodations. According to the website, this room included private check-in/check-out (which we did not get), 24-hour room service (they have absolutely NO room service), robes and slippers( which we never received), and a hot tub on the balcony. The “hot tub” would not even get warm enough to use comfortably.
When we arrived, we had to carry our own luggage and stand in a long check-in line for almost 50 minutes, despite supposedly having private check-in. No one offered to help with our bags or escort us to our room. We were also promised early check-in, but our room wasn’t ready until after 4 PM.
The buffet food was honestly disgusting — cold, bland, and unsanitary. Guests were allowing their children to stick their hands directly into the food. The dining halls were also extremely hot with little to no air conditioning. The only decent restaurants on the property were The White Box and Careyes Gourmet Dining.
The pool situation was awful. The main pool is far too small for the size of the resort, and there were basically no available lounge chairs anywhere. The beach only had a limited number of chairs, and unless you went down around 6 AM to “reserve” one, you had no chance of getting a spot for the day.
The “adults only” section was incredibly disappointing. It consisted of only a few Bali beds that people took freely despite supposedly requiring reservations. There was a bar in the adults-only section that NEVER opened the entire 7 days we were there. There were also no lounge chairs to relax in the sun. Completely underwhelming.
One day, construction work caused us to lose both water and air conditioning in our room from 10 AM until 6 PM. Staff repeatedly brushed us off and acted rude whenever we asked for updates. Our room reached 87 degrees that day.
Children were constantly running around screaming, throwing food into the pool, and dumping drinks into the water. Another couple even caught the lifeguard asleep while on duty. To make matters worse, the pool was closed multiple days during our stay. Another guest told us it was because children had repeatedly pooped in the pool.
We met several other couples from the United States who felt just as deceived by this resort as we did. Many said they were promised a luxury experience that simply did not exist.
We have traveled to Mexico three times and Jamaica three times, always staying at 5-star resorts, and we have never experienced such a severe language barrier. At every other resort, staff could communicate enough English to understand guests. Here, communication was extremely difficult.
There was also almost no entertainment. We were promised nightly shows, but they were practically nonexistent. The few shows they did have were over on the Oasis side and entirely in Spanish, including the music. Not once during our stay did we hear music catered toward American or international guests.
This resort is NOT luxury, NOT 5-star quality, and absolutely NOT what is advertised online. The managers do not seem to care about guest concerns, and the entire experience felt misleading from start to finish. We were completely disappointed with this place, so please beware!!
Beware of The Sens Cancun.

- Kimberly (10/5): - The facility is a little dated but comfortable. The food was just average.
- Alejandro (10/5): -
- Hayden (9/5): My experience at The Sens Resort was very relaxing and enjoyable. - Breakfast was great. The location from the airport is ok. Overall location was good. The all inclusive meals at the restaurants were tasty, many options to choose from. I experienced one night of live entertainment at the Glass night club, that was a great experience. Every night offered live entertainment. Cleanliness was pretty good, everyday housekeeping would enter and clean the room. Nothing bad to talk about.

- Stuart (9/5): -
- Thomas (10/5): -
- Aminah (8/5): - Great location, all inclusive food options were really good. Staff were very helpful and accomodating Beach areas too busy
- lujhunter (6/5): Beware - We stayed at the Sens April 8-15, 2026. There were five of us total, including a 4 year old. When you are staying at the Sens, it gives you access to the Sens and the Grand oasis. Both resorts are old and not very well maintained - particularly the grand oasis side. The biggest complaint that we had was there were no chairs around the Sens pool and there was no central lobby bar for evenings. There are very little lounge chairs at the pool on the oasis side of the resort. Many of the lounge chairs are at the beach and not nearly enough for the number of people there.
All of the restaurants and bars have awkward hours of operation. For example, you can’t get coffee until after 7am and theice cream shop closes at 4 before dinner. You can make reservations via app but it’s not sophisticated and you always have to repeat yourself when communicating with them.
The coffee maker in the room is awful and doesn’t make very good coffee at all.
The resort is right on the highway and it’s quite loud in the room even though we were on the eighth floor.
The Sens side seems to be more geared to adults, offering many adults only restaurants and areas to lounge. But not helpful for a family with a 4 year old and we didn’t like the grand oasis side.
There are some good restaurants for dinner on the Sens side with good service.
The beach is beautiful but lots of seaweed.
The pictures look AI manipulated because there are no large pool beds with canopies next to the pools.
Overall I wouldn’t recommend to friends.
- Raad1053 (7/5): Warning: This is not an adults-only resort. - The restaurants here are fantastic, and the staff is consistently there to offer assistance whenever needed. The bartenders are particularly friendly and welcoming. I'm genuinely very disappointed with this resort, as it's certainly not an adults-only experience as advertised. The premise was that there wouldn't be children present, but the reality turned out to be quite different. The resort actually only features a restaurant and a small, three-foot-deep pool, and unfortunately, you'll hear children yelling even from the Oasis area because they often cross over to this side.
The bathrooms also need upgrading, even on the "Sens" side.
- Stuart (9/5): Very enjoyable - The number of different restaurants, you had to book the day before but 2 of them were à la carte and just amazing. We paid for the cabana’s in the adult area £40 per day but well worth it, have your own assistant getting drinks and could have food delivered from the restaurant behind. The staff were great and would recommend All the sun loungers were gone before 8am and most were never even used for more than a few hours, they need to implement a rule if there is no one for an owner then the towels are removed for other people to use.
- Magyoa (9/5): -
- Ruleen (8/5): - nice and comfortable didn’t like that we have to make reservations for dinner at the restaurants
- Ella (10/5): -
- patriciadU9485KS (2/5): SHOUKD HAVE BELIEVED OTHER REVIEWS - I have just returned. I walked out on day four. My pleas went unanswered by sunwing. The reps are useless and never on premise. I went to another hotel .
Sunwing got all my money so this next resort was 3 days out if pocket.
Upon arrival at 9pm l asked if I get something to eat and was told everything was closed and no room service. I went yo room and had two cookies from my bag and water.
One buffet.. very nice breakfast only. Specially restaurants not for children. Lunch gotta go next door other buffet next door. Treacherous walk. Ramps steps and stairs everywhere. Broken un even walkways. I ate breakfast no lunch no dinner first day, second day breakfast dinner ,,,, from monday night till Friday morning l had 3 breakfast, zero lunch as you had to go to sister hotel, 3 dinner as they were on the premises, never went to the other building as you are forced to do.
Room large dated, deep tub with back on bottom ??? I had to sit on edge and maneuver in to shower. A peice of glass covered half the tub. I am a senior traveling alone.
Large bottle of water in bathroom I know why they are scared to death you will use tap water to brush teeth. I turned taps on(taps look like 1950) the smell was overwhelming NOTE I have been going to Mexico since 1987 then from 1999 to cancun. About 76 trips to Mexico.
I turned the taps on in the sink the odor was so gross. Memories of galvanized pipes and putrid water .... yup you cannot deny. The first time I ever actually used bottled water to brush my teeth. The room had a musty smell I tried to let air in and I brought a room spray ( from bath and body) l tried opening the door. The sheets felt clamy and cold. No blanket I shut the air-conditioned off as the clamp sheets felt cold and damp. I was becoming so uncomfortable I put on my jacket and folded the cotton bedspread over the one side to double.Next morning I went to desk and said could cleaner leave a blanket and maybe spray the room , within an hour a dehumidifier was brought in it worked for 7 hours and shut off cause it was full. I have bad reactions to mould. I knew at this point it was unhealthy as l am older but l thought about the children with still developing lungs.
Now a kicker for me. The pool huge looked like those. Blow up ones for you backyard. The was an old rickity old fashion ladder on one side never seen it used. To use the pool the guest wood walk up step down on a drain system that ran around the pool then lift your leg over like mounting a horse. You have to be tall enough to do this
On the one end was a graded entrance with the water starting about 2 inches deep getting deeper. There was no rail you still need a rail for seniors children are playing water is moving it's now a balance issue.
NEXT KICKER no lounge chairs NONE.
A small bar near pool with a few chairs and one bartender. Tge pool bar is a joke and the water there was so cloudy while a girl was slither over her man. Quite and exotic performance.
The beach.... about 75 chairs lined up for 450 guests.. They are saved for hours on end.
I tried to transfer but was told they have tried to accommodate me by arranging for me to have two dinners in the specialty restaurants!!! They ignored me and stalled . They gave me a price of 1800.00 to the riu las Americas for 4 days, 1600.00 for the Krystal that's in addition to what I paid then 3300.00 for 7 nights and 6 days Windsor to Cancun.
3300+1800
Note 3300 included air l estimate it probably iw 900.$
Note charged foe 7 nights which means no food first night.
Anyway don't take kids, don't take elderly, don't take ANYONE with mobility issues,
Oh and elevators broke tw times. Stairs are a bitch and during the
day you have to share elevators with dirty cleaning carts.
I'm looking at government agencies as sunwing is getting away with a lot and I believe governments job is to take of its people and the rules set out for airline and travel companies are not sufficient and or not enforced.
I successfully called a booked other resorts for a fair price. I knew immediately was out money but my health mental and physical is what l was concerned with. I hope this will help at least one family. I swear this is all the truth. I have children grandchildren, and soon a great grandchild and I hope it helps all.
- josephbU3509KX (10/5): Great Family Resort for an Amazing Value - When I booked my vacation stay, I didn't realize it was all-inclusive. Imagine my pleasant surprise when the cost of the hotel room included all meals and unlimited drinks, including alcoholic beverages. The pools and beach were great; and, there were daily activities for kids and adults. The resort was great and the value was amazing.
- Diaz-Huerta (8/5): Nice place to relax if you’re in the Sens Cancún side of the Resort. - As soon as you are done checking in another person takes you to “supposedly” explain the facilities, map, app and how things work there, but they are actually trying to sell you a TIMESHARE type of thing. They’ll tell you that you quality for free Pirate Ship shows and free breakfast as soon as you hear that you know you’re being framed. Don’t fall for it. Check-in, get your map from the receptionist also download their app for map and other information & to reserve time for the fancy restaurant, Sens Cancun ( ONLY guest) as you need reservations to dine at them. Easy to request a reservation. 8:00 am is the opening time for requests on the app, you need to wait for a CONFIRMATION reply to know the reservation has been APPROVED!!!! All this is first explained by the person trying to sell you the TIMESHARE. Clean and nice facilities. The food is delicious all around. Being there a few days we enjoyed the breakfast buffet, our first day at the buffet staff were amazing but we didn’t know we had to tip, next day we were sat at the same table & we ended up with the same waitress she didn’t acknowledge us, didn’t offered beverages like usual, good thing you can also serve yourself. When we were sat down at out table our waitress was behind us arranging glass cups, she saw we were there us as we were about one foot away from her. Other guests ( three more tables) were sat in her area and she acknowledged them right away. If you’re a white person/ foreigner they extra treat you ( they expect tips) staff were courteous and respectful at all other places. We left tips at the Restaurants with reservations as they are FINE dining. If you need a lounge chair for the beach you need to wake up super early to Reserve. To do so (you need to place towels or belongings on them) Alcoholic beverages are also included but the quality is not the best, also it felt like watered down alcohol because you hardly felt the ( buzz) from the alcohol. I didn’t like that they wanted to trick us into buying a TIMESHARE!!!! Good thing I’m able to catch on to things like this. They told us for future reservations they wanted us to book directly with them instead of Booking.com !!!!! ( because they offer better rates” That’s not true as I got higher rates with them before reserving with Booking.com
- A3616IQtinac (8/5): Good but not enough for teens to do - We just left The Sens Cancún. It is a resort suites for young families. We had two seventeen year olds and there was not enough to do for them. There are no tennis courts or basketball. Just beach volleyball. The oasis beside the Sens was the only spot for some daytime games. Not as much as we are use to at resorts. It is relatively small as well. The room we had was modern and clean. There are limited balcony's as well. The a la cart restaurants were good. You must use the app. Get help from an employee as it can be tricky. You book a request then await a response. But you need to watch your phone for the response. You can only book two or three days ahead. The morning buffet was great. The lunch beach restaurant on the Sens side was great. There is no disco at all. There is a bar at night at the front of the resort but no where to dance. The beach is at the entrance of a marina which we were ok with because we liked watching the boats. But does take away from tropical feel. They need more staff for the bars and buffets. At times there were long waits. Every single employee was really nice, all the time. Price was ok for the experience. But we prefer more exciting larger resorts. It's a preference for sure. Jerry was great.
- Jonathan (8/5): -
- ramiala (10/5): Beautiful stunning place with plenty of activties, amenities and food options. - Excellent resort, and we really enjoyed it.
Location is fantastic, it's close to everything, and pretty well placed in the hotel zone.
Atmosphere is great, it's vibing and popping pretty much throughout the day. There are 14 restaurants on sites, as well as numerous snack bars, coffee shops, alcohol bars etc, so the value for money is incredible!
The Rooms are a little bit dated, but overall, they are fine, and do the job. Clean and tidy and balcony is a huge plus.
Noise levels can be a bit noisy at times, but this is expected in a family resort with children.
The service and the people are really nice. Everyone smiles at you and helps wherever possible.
Highly recommend this place to any couple/family.
- Jose Luis (9/5): -
- gornickmj (8/5): Great value - From existing reviews it may be hard to gather a good overview of this property. Our recent stay was our second in 2 years. We have found this property perfect for families with kids 12 and under. The sugar sand is protected by off shore reefs and somewhat of a natural cove, thusly waved breaking at the beach are non existent. Little ones can wade many meters into the the calm ocean. Similarly, the main pool has a beach like entry (0 depth) perfect for new swimmers. Location is near major shopping areas and is an easy, safe walk to Isla Mujueres ferry terminal.
Food is similar to the many other all inclusive we have frequented. All though somewhat difficult to secure the reservation required sit down restaurants where all beautifully appointed. The newer sit down (for lunch) beach club restaurant was perfect yet underutilized. The hotel lobby is very attractive, however the rooms themselves are in need to a full soft goods refit. Our room this year, though remarkably clean and plenty of wear evident on the furniture.
Overall a fantastic value!
- Martin (9/5): -
- Moreno Cifuentes (10/5): -
- Ciro (7/5): Amazing staff and food but the property does not provide a maintenance. Is my last time in this resort/hotel - The staff Don’t have plenty sunbeds and umbrellas
- eirini (7/5): People that work in Sens very kind and helpful, but the room want renovation - The food was good ! Many choices !
Really good cocktails and events The room was a little bit old
- Iunis (8/5): -
- J5964ELcarlaw (10/5): Perfect stay - We had the most amazing time at this hotel. They pulled out all the stops as my partner celebrated their 40th birthday and an engagement. The concierge team were outstanding in organising everything before we arrived and decorating the room in the middle of our holiday as a surprise nothing was too much hassle. At the end of our stay on our last day they gave us a lunch on them to celebrate our engagement again couldn't of asked for better. The cleaners made our rooms spotless everyday and deserve every tip they get. The beach was fantastic, the only issue I would say their def wasn't enough sunloungers but thats the same everywhere you go. We will be back
- Armando (4/5): -
- Luis Alberto (6/5): REGULAR, NO SATISFECHO - LAS HABITACIONES COMODAS, COMIDA REPETIDA,POCOS LUGARES PARA COMER,LAS RESERVAS LLENAS POCOS LUGARES PARA DESAYUNAR Y COMER, RESERVAS DE LOS RESTAURANTES LLENAS
- Karen dos Santos (8/5): -
- Marta (9/5): -
- ariel_1977 (5/5): No volveria.
- Marta (9/5): -
- sj8008 (2/5): Briefly kidnapped - The stars I’m giving this hotel are honest, but generous. The hotel is actually two hotels. It was really difficult to find anything. Lots of restaurants, some you had to have reservations for. We downloaded the app, but no map on it &we tried to make reservations for one of the restaurants, but when we arrived at the restaurant they unapologetically didn’t have our reservation. The food at the buffet was tolerable, at best, disappointing because we love Mexican food. I really regretted paying for this all inclusive. Our stay was for 4 nights and I paid $1394 usd. On the morning of the 3rd day we took 2 of our 5 bags out to the car to take some things to my mom who was staying at a different hotel. When we walked out of the hotel the bellman asked if we were checking out, we said no. Then another bell man asked for our room number & the checkout slip. We said we weren’t checking out. By the time we walked to our car we had 4 people asking us about checkout. We got in the car and the blocked all the exists & WOULDN’T LET US LEAVE. I was forced to go to the front desk and sign a charge for $52.00. I have no idea what that was for and I will be charging back. After that we were allowed to leave the property. It was crazy. I went and stayed with my mom at the other hotel, on our HONEYMOON.

- DayTrip752139 (2/5): Pictures of this hotel/suppoedly resort do not match not the experience at all! Do not bother. Go elsewhere! - We regretted booking it the moment we walked in. My first instinct was to ask to be transferred to another resort. Very old and in need of major repairs. Felt very cramped, crowded, smelly and not very clean. Changed rooms twice for different reasons. Thermostat not working, door not shutting properly. Second transfer of rooms was because the smell of moisture and mildew in the room was literally making me sick. I could hardly breathe.
There were not enough chairs at the beach. May 50 altogether for God knows how many guests. People were on the ground on towels. We had to get up at 5:00 a.m. to go reserve 2 of the very few chairs with some shade options. No chairs at all around the pool area. Parents of young children were sitting and lyiing onto ciment. Food was not great. Buffet even worse. The only reasonable restaurant was The White Box and even there.. options were different than advertised.
The only reasonable thing about the trip was that staff were friendly enough and curtious.
- D3379NGlynnr (2/5): Sens Cancun not worth it - There sre not enough chair at the beach, have to get up by 4:30-5:00 amto get chairs by 6:00 am there are no more chairs. No chairs around the pool. The pool is extremely hard to get in or out and if you have mobility issues you can’t get in or out. The à la carte restaurants are hit and miss, breakfast buffet is the best. The other 2 buffets at the Oasis are hit & miss. The day we were leaving the water was completely shut off, no showers before takeoff?? No one advised thst the water would be turned off. If you have mobility issues most of the à la carte restaurants have steps into the restaurant, ect.
- sandrazQ6741VJ (2/5): Sens Cancun Don’t Go - Check in was smooth…they don’t give you a map of the resort so you have to rely on their app on your phone. Book your restaurants as they sell out…the Sens side Careyes and The White Box were good…we tried the Maki Tako and Cocoa and didn’t care for them…cold food…not cooked…buffet fish was raw everything else so overcooked…tried to make a salad which can be our go to lettuce tasted like soap…
Pools we did not use as they don’t supply chairs…we though about going to Walmart and buying camp chairs…fortunately I had 3 men in the group that could get up at 4:00 am and get chairs at the beach….by 6:30 am there wasn’t a chair to be found…it’s a shame as the beach is beautiful blue water calm water fine white sand…most people put their towel on the ground and sit in the sand….such a quick fix for the hotel to order some chairs…to meet up before dinners there is only two places to go The Glass Bar (Sens)which opens at 6:00 pm or La Cantina on the Palm Oasis side the glass bar had music at disco level so you couldn’t sit and talk….we were the only ones in the place with our other two couples and asked on several occasions if they could turn the music down just a tad….we were told by bartender he was aloud to touch the DJs music …too bad nice area to sit and socialize as there is no lobby lounges like other resorts…we went to La Cantina bartender was friendly music was just background noise..it had pool table…if you have mobility issues it’s hard to get into this bar lots steps ….its hard to believe the hotel can’t put some tables and chairs in the lobby so there is a place to mingle or play cards….coffee shop was good and had deserts and ice cream….the morning buffet on the Sens side had a variety of food we could always find something good to eat there. We were three couples and would not return to Sens Cancun

- Budweg (6/5): No Seating Around the Pool and Beach. - The rooms, staff, al a carts were all great. We were pleased with the size of the resort, and once we figured out to avoid the numerous staircases and steps, to get to the other side walking was better. Price point was good, we booked a last minute vacation. Enjoyed the entertainment we saw.
The question is would I go back to the resort and why?
Not a place I would go again or recommend.
The seating around the pool and beach area was 1/3 of what it should of been. It ruined our vacation!!! 62 years old and no where to sit but the ground. We complained and was giving the BS answer. Paid for a caban shelter one day. Expensive.
BEACH AREA was smelly the closer you moved toward the Marina area.
Lots of weeds, (not the resorts fault) but needed daily raking.
To get a lounger you needed to place your towel before you went to bed or at 6 in the morning.
Had to go to bar line up to get drinks all the time.
POOL AREA had a 2 foot wall all around it and had to be straddled to get into it.
Pool was cold, shaded all of the mornings.
The pool design was unusual, different elevation sections with barriers.
One good thing it had a lifeguard on duty.
BAR's need extra staff at peak times, they were working hard without a break.
Sadly we were disappointed with the trip, reflecting back we will not book a last minute trip without recommendations of a place.
- Dugger (6/5): The resort was average and was a good price - The location. Beach was right by the inlet and the boat traffic was fun to watch I didn't like the food. And they needed more chairs on the beach and pool.
- ashleyrM7207BZ (4/5): Beautiful resort, but severely understaffed - The room and resort are beautiful. The service was terrible. There is definitely not enough staff here. Waiting for food and drinks for hours. The bars constantly ran out of cups and often did not have the basics for even a mojito. They have a snack place next to the pool that often ran out of plates so you couldn’t even eat. The restaurants and bar were severely understaffed.
- Monica (1/5): - Dear Booking Customer service,
It is very frustrating to see that even when sending multiples messages through all possible platforms and making multiple calls following the recommendations of the booking platform or of the hotel itself, no feedback / support has been provided except for this email assuring us continuous monitoring and information.
Furthermore, Booking still asks us how was the stay, when indeed that never happened, and it was the original reason fro our email.
I attach again the dossier describing the tedious process to go through, and still open / without resolution.
We kindly urge you for your prompt support on this matter.
- laura alicia (10/5): Muy bello!

- elvedinj2026 (10/5): Very nice place and people !! - I recently stayed for the tired time at The Sens Cancun with my family, and we had a truly wonderful experience.
From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed. All the employees were incredibly friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. Their kindness and professionalism made our stay even more enjoyable.
The food was excellent, with a great variety and high quality at every meal.
We were also very impressed with the hotel’s facilities and overall comfort, everything was well maintained and designed to make guests feel relaxed and at home.
We can honestly recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to enjoy a real holiday experience in Cancun. It’s the perfect place to be, to spend quality time with family, and create beautiful memories. We plan to come back again!

- Carlos (10/5): An outstanding stay with exceptional service, beautiful facilities, and unforgettable moments - I had an amazing experience, everything was simply perfect from start to finish. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, the facilities were beautiful and well maintained, and the food exceeded my expectations with great variety and quality at every restaurant. The pools and beach area were stunning and made it so easy to relax and fully enjoy the stay. The restaurant reservation system is quite complicated and not very user-friendly. It can be frustrating because you almost need to rely on luck to secure a spot at the restaurant you want. Considering how good the dining experience is, the booking process should definitely be simpler and more accessible for guests.
- X4991VMterrim (6/5): I don't recommend this property - Sorry this review is very long but I rely on these reviews to help me decide where to book
First of all I will list the positives:
We had a standard room with a comfortable bed and newly renovated bathroom (some rooms were very dated)
Despite the reviews I read the food was actually quite good.
I liked the size of the property of The Sens Cancun/Oasis as it was not huge.
The ferry terminal was within walking distance and some of our friends to it to Isla Merjures for the day and had a great time.
My booking was with The Sens Cancun - when we arrived they did not have record of my booking. The had me booked next door at The Oasis. As we were travelling with a large group they did move our room to The Sens property - however they did not change my booking so that the app would allow me the same privileges as The Sens guests and I was not able to book all of the a la carte restaurants. This was not a problem as others in our group were able to add us to their booking.
Negatives
Very short staffed - at the end of the week we learned that the resort had been sold to the Hyatt which would explain why there was a staff shortage which did cause the negatives below:
it took quite awhile at all bars to get a drink as there was only 1 bartender and they would have to stop serving in order to wash glasses so they could make more drinks. I feel that the glass washing was not entirely sanitary.
not many reservations available at the a la carte restaurants because there were not enough servers. We always saw lots of tables available even when we told there were no reservations available.
our room was not cleaned before 5pm any day. This was tricky as it always coincided with us returning from the beach and wanting to get ready for dinner. We only requested the service every other day as we only needed clean towels and fresh water.
Other negatives not a result of short staff:
If you did not get to the buffet for dinner before 7:30 the wait in line was 1 - 1.5 hours long. I believe this was due to not many reservations at the a la carte available.
I believe there were approximately 450 rooms in the resort and there were 100 beach chairs - there were no chairs at the pool.
multiple chair saving fights each day and several guests left sitting on their towels on the sand
not accessibility safe. Any guest with accessibility issues would not be safe at this resort. I travelled with 2 people who are legally blind and the lack of step identifiers were very dangerous. There were several areas where unnecessary steps were hard to see and the makeshift ramps were a hazard. There were mirrors EVERYWHERE in which every single one of us walked into one at some point in the trip. My brother and his wife had a room that was quite dated and the bathrooms had large tubs with the shower with a tile surround that made it very difficult to get in and out of the tub for anyone with shorter legs or accessibility issues.
The pools were only accessible via old school ladders with the exception of the main pool at The Sens location but there was a wall between the pool and the swim up bar that was difficult to navigate.
On Saturday and Sunday the number of guests doubled with local day passes. This overcrowded the beach and restaurants making the lines at the bar and buffet twice as long. One of our group members was approached by a day pass visitor asking what their room number was on more than one occasion. There were also several people on property using the facilities that did not have a wrist band of any kind.
As our trip was for a special birthday with a group of 18 people that we joined at the last minute these negatives did not dampen the great time that we had. If this had been a trip for just my family or a couple of friends it would not have been enjoyable for us. Although based on the reviews I had read before I would not have booked this property in the first place. I always take the reviews with a grain of salt and realize they are written by people with outlandish expectations most of the time but I really think I would have not booked here.
I am guessing this resort will be closing in the near future, be renovated and open under a new company. With some improvements this property could be really great.
- CARLO (10/5): Excelentes vacaciones ❤️ - Excelente hotel!
- 885jaydenr (10/5): Overall Good Staff - The whole sports staff is great ! Especially in particular Genesis. She was amazing with the kids and her overall energy was very good! Will definitely be coming here again.
- tomlY8023ZK (4/5): Overrated and understaffed - I need to commend the waitstaff and maids at the resort. They go out of their way to make you happy. Haivin was our waiter at the beach. I would rate his service as 10 out of 10.
The resort is rated as 4.5 by Apple Vacations, but is really a 3.0 at best. Faucets leak, hot water is hit and miss, stucco is falling off, etc.
The resort pushes guests towards joining their "club". We were told members of the club receive preferential treatment. It turns out the club is a fancy name for timeshare.
At check in we were instructed to download the Sens phone app. We were told that with the app we could make dinner reservations. What we discovered is that the app seldom worked and when it did it was confusing. The app let us make dinner reservations but never confirmed them. Later in the day when we inquired about the status of our reservations that the requested restaurant was full and we had no reservation. Walking past the restaurant at our requested reservation time we could see many empty tables. It seemed the resort wanted you to go to the cheaper dinner buffet.
The dinner buffet was a challenge. You either ate very early or you waited in very long lines. We often stood in line for 1.5 hours. When we did get into the buffet we found many food selections were gone and what remained was luke warm or cold.
The staff that was working busted their butts. But it was easy to see the resort is understaffed. Perhaps another upper management money saving idea. Bars had a single bartender regardless of the number of guests waiting for drinks.
We had a group of 12 people that vacation in Mexico every year. This was one of our least favorite vacations. Other people we met that had previously been at the resort told us things used to be better. Some investment group is using the resort as a cash cow. We won't recommend the resort and we certainly won't be back.
- susielewisappraiser (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE - I have been to Cancun over 20 times and have never wrote a bad review. DO NOT STAY HERE! Was under impression adults only. Not true. There is a adult pool but you need reservations. One pool has tiny swim up bar with no blender with no loungers around pool and maybe 10 chairs. Other pool has small swim up bar with no blender with maybe 20 lounge chairs. ALL chairs and loungers gone by 6am with towels on them. Beach was nice had 50 or so chairs and loungers but again all taken. Service on beach was slow but the best in entire resort. We had to take chairs off our balcony for pool and beach. Could not get any reservations for restaurants as they were all booked. We had 1 sit down dinner and i think hubby lucked into that with a big tip. Rest of time the yucky buffet.. no room service. Cant take food out of buffet. 45 minute wait twice for buffet. Pool has food where you can walk up if you enjoy hockey puck burgers, hot dogs and fries and that closes early. 10 minute wait on drinks anywhere in resort. Elevators took forever. We finally found maintenance elevator and used that. Paid extra 500 for hot tub balcony room, apparently thats the 10th floor adult section of resort. Not true kids on that floor. Had 2 bathrooms, 1 shower wouldnt get hot no problem as we had 2. Well other shower head wouldnt work. I spent over 2 hours on phone with funjet to try to transfer resorts and kept getting run around. Didnt get anything until before day we left stating sorry for inconvenience, etc. Place is a nightmare
- Curiosity759464 (6/5): Not 5 star - First impressions of THE SENS Hotel were very good. Check in was very good.
Breakfast in Las Palmas restaurant was excellent, as were all the bookable restaurants.
The bites buffet canteen was absolutely awful.
Our first morning we were on the beach after breakfast at 9am, there were no sunbeds available all had been reserved by towels and were left unused for hours. This was the case everyday.
It is not luxury to be lying on towels on the sand like many families and couples were as there was no alternative.
There were only around 100 beds at the hotel in all. ( including around pools) Which is completely inadequate for a hotel with 374 rooms with a rating of 5 stars.
Also there was a complete lack of comfortable seating areas around the hotel.
In the lobby there was only 2 chairs with a back on , anything else that could be used to sit on didn’t have a back they were bench type seating .
Al inclusive drinks were very limited also only one bar on the complex having a drinks menu displayed or available.
Another gripe was the lack of glassware.
Outside pool and beach areas plastic glasses are acceptable.
Plastic cups were used indoors too .
We tended to use the Glass Bar as the seating was ok in the evenings, again plastic was used. We renamed it ‘Plastic Bar’
We asked for glasses and were told they were for use in the morning. Bar opening hours are 6pm to 1am .
One day during our stay we were short of towels, I reported to concierge on our floor. No towels arrived at all we had to wait until the next day when rooms were cleaned.
Our safe in the had been working fine then it came up with error. We reported it to reception were told to go to our room and someone will come up in 5 mins, needless to say nobody arrived. On third time of asking someone came to sort it 2 hours after the first report.
Overall we were disappointed with the service and lack of comfort of this 5 star hotel and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
I would rather rate this hotel 3 star maximum!
- Andrew (5/5): I wouldn’t want to stay there for any length of time - Breakfast was good Food served cold and the quality of the drinks particularly the wine was poor
- Gabriele (6/5): It was good, but i wouldnt go back there - The structure and location was very nice No chairs ever available in the beach, and restaurants food was far from good exept few items at cafe del mar
- annehZ4211CW (2/5): Do not book - Outdated facility
Non existent wifi
Power was out in our room for 9 hours
Horrible beds
Horrible food
Elevators dont work
Adults only advertising but kids everywhere
Worst all inclusive I've stayed in and we come to Cancun every year.
- B2535AVrosiep (10/5): Impressed us seasoned travellers - Don't be put off by the 1* reviews - we very nearly cancelled our booking here because of them and I'm so glad we didn't.
We were a group of 6, 3 couples and we came over from Ireland at the end of January.
Here's my thoughts on getting the best from this amazing resort.
Book the Master Suite in The Sens with the Jacuzzi on the 10th floor - you won't regret it. Just pay the bit extra, it's 100% worth it for the size of the room (it's basically two rooms in one) and you'll use the jacuzzi more than you think.
Download the app as soon as you get there and book the restaurants in advance. For breakfast, just walk into Las Palmas - the best buffet breakfast of any AI hotel we've been to. For lunch, you can't go wrong with Cafe Del Mar or leave the hotel, take a right, go over the bridge and go to the open front Taco place a 5 minute walk away - amazing food, incredible cocktails and extremely good value. For dinner, ABSOLUTELY GO to Careyes - it's fine dining - essentially Michelin quality - sublime. The White Box was the next best. If you can AVOID the food hall, all of them, do - just trust me on that. We wanted to try Maki Taco but it was booked out so that's a good sign. Don't bother with Cocoa, menu looks good, food wasn't great. The walk in Sushi place by the Sensoria Spa was very good. We also did a meal in Profirios for a birthday one night - would highly recommend. Cost approx. €80 return in a taxi from the hotel.
In terms of getting the most out of the Pool and Beach. We didn't go in the pool at all, and we didn't get sick - take from that what you will. For the beach, just pay the extra for the Cafe Del Mar, it's worth it. Jamena there was fantastic and she'll look after you. Sensoria was free but lacked the vibe of the beach. Didn't try Miramar but that looked good too, that was free but you had to book early.
For snacks etc. The coffee shop in the lobby is not bad, iced coffees were decent and they had alternative milk. The fridge in the room was well stocked with water, Cokes and beer.
FWe missed the adult only pirate boat tour because of jetlag, but it looked like fun. There was also some good shows each night but again, because of jetlag, we struggled to stay awake to see any.
For the excursions, you might be better off going outside the hotel to book them. We did the catamaran to Isla Mujeres but it left alot to be desired in the way of cleanliness on the boat and safty when in the water. There were party boats gojng from up the road regularly and in hindsight we should have done one of them. The food at the beach club on Isla Mujeres looked incredible. The trip to Citchen Itza and swim in the Cenote that we booked through the hotel was much better and would recommend. But be aware it's the whole day and you won't be back before 8.
We went to Senor Frogs for a bit of day drinking, didn't do CoCo Bongo again because of the jet lag.
Overall, I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel, and I'll happily sing the praises of the staff and the services.
A very solid 4* hotel, yes a few touches of paint needed here and there but overall it was spotless, the staff couldn't do enough for you, the room was comfortable, the food was fantastic. The location was great.
- jenskutz (10/5): Perfect family resort - The Sens in Cancun definitely exceeded my expectations. Top notch service. Amazing restaurants. The White Box may be one of the best restaurants ever! Highly recommend the Crab croquettes and lasagna! Perfect pool and beach area for littles but areas for adults only too. Makes this an idea family group destination.
- dorinn574 (8/5): Friendly staff , good service and great food - I’ll be honest: after reading the one-star reviews, I nearly ran a mile. Massive hesitation. But curiosity won, and I booked it anyway.
The good: Credit where it’s due — the staff are absolutely brilliant. Friendly, helpful, and genuinely on the ball. The rooms? Clean, well kept, and loaded with amenities. Food-wise, there’s plenty of choice, and then there’s Careyes — ranked #3 in Cancún. If you’re even remotely serious about food, you’d be mad not to try it.
The beach is clean, well secured, and towel service runs all day — no nonsense, no stress. That part is done properly.
The bad: Noise. If your room faces the main road or you hit strong winds, forget peace and quiet. Missing window caulking means the wind whistles through like it owns the place — totally avoidable and frankly unacceptable at this level. Face the pool, though, and on a calm day, it’s blissfully quiet.
One more thing: the hotel shares its beach and restaurants with a sister property. Sounds fine on paper, but in reality it gets crowded — especially on the beach — and that relaxed holiday vibe takes a hit.
- Rafael (9/5): -
- Warren (7/5): -
- Gabriel (10/5): Perfect! - Everything: the staff, the food, the beach, the suite. Not having anything to eat in the minibar in the suite. And the cleaning service that wasn't working because the woman running it was sick.
