- Jamil (6/5): - On the positive side, I’d like to highlight the wonderful garden and the fact that the back side of the hotel overlooks a large lagoon. It became one of our favorite places to relax after long walks or after breakfast. The palace itself is very beautiful, but it does need renovation. The hotel is not worth the money. It is very far from the center, and you have to walk a lot. Especially if, like us, you prefer to return to the hotel during the day to rest a bit, then this hotel is definitely not for you. This is not a five-star hotel. The rooms are old, with worn carpets and outdated furniture. The bed was extremely uncomfortable — the mattress was very hard, and the pillows felt like they were stuffed with cotton and should have been replaced long ago. There was only one small bottle of water for two people, so we had to buy and carry water to the room ourselves. Our room overlooked the canal. We stayed in Venice for five nights, and unfortunately it was impossible to open the windows because mosquitoes immediately flew in, making it impossible to sleep at night. The air conditioning was basically useless — it did not cool the room at all. The nights were hot and stuffy, with mosquitoes buzzing constantly. The breakfast at the hotel was very poor and extremely limited. For a five-star hotel, this is honestly embarrassing. Our room was located above the bar, and every evening until 11 PM we could hear loud music. At check-out, they also tried to charge us an extra 90 euros.We love Venice, and this was our fourth visit, but I would not return to this hotel.

- Teresa (9/5): - Merece la pena perderse por el jardín. Es precioso. Nos dieron una habitación más pequeña de lo contratado, reclamamos y nos cambiaron a una mejor sin problema. La ubicación es perfecta si quieres huir de la masificación de San Marcos. Andando o en el vaporetto te desplazas sin problema. Las camas muy cómodas. Que tuviéramos que reclamar para que nos cambiasen de habitación. No reponian amenities y alguna toalla.

- guillemot (8/5): - Sehr gute Lage in ruhigem und sehr hübschen Bezirk. Sehr wenige Gehminuten zur Vaporetto-Haltestelle Orto. Ganze Stadt fußläufig oder per Vaporetto leicht erreichbar. Traumhaft angelegter, gepflegter und großer Garten bis zur Lagune mit verschiedenen Sitzgelegenheiten und überdachten Tischen. Opulente Eingangshalle und schöne Speiseräume, netter Barbereich. Sehr gutes Frühstücksbuffet. Abends zwei Speisekarten zur Auswahl, eine normalpreisige Karte und zwei hochpreisige Gourmet Tasting Menus. Zimmer hübsch eingerichtet, Bad geräumig. Freundliches Personal. Das Premiumzimmer mit Kanalblick entpuppte sich als Zimmer mit Lagunenblick im Nebengebäude am Ende des Gartens und war wegen niedriger Fenster sehr düster und hatte Stufen zum Bad. Auf Nachfrage bekamen wir ein Zimmer im Hauptgebäude zum Kanal hin zur Auswahl (Nr. 103), das heller und freundlicher war, allerdings auch deutlich beengter und für die gebuchte Premiumkategorie sicher erheblich zu klein, ohne Sitzgelegenheit und mit nur einem Fenster. Wir haben dies in Kauf genommen wegen der besseren Lichtverhältnisse. Der Toilettensitz war lose, wurde auf unseren Hinweis hin repariert. Die Vorhänge hingen auf einer Seite teilweise herunter. Das Bad hatte keine Ventilation, die Klimaanlage im Zimmer konnten wir nicht betätigen. Für die absurd hohen Zimmerpreise sind das inakzeptabel Details. Die Getränkepreise in der Bar waren überzogen, allerdings gab es großzügiges Knabberzeug dazu. Für Bier gab es keine passenden Gläser.

Mame provided exceptional service. She was attentive without ever being intrusive, anticipated what we might need, and even remembered our daily orders, which made us feel incredibly cared for. It’s rare to encounter someone who embodies true hospitality so naturally. Mame created a warm and welcoming atmosphere that elevated our entire stay. She is a true asset to the hotel, and we are so grateful for the care she showed us each day.

- peachygal2000 (2/5): Mosquitos - My husband and I had an awful experience here, unfortunately. Our room was filled with countless mosquitos. Any time we were in our room, we chased mosquitos. Each night, we stayed awake late trying to rid our room of these bugs so we could eventually go to sleep. On average, we caught around 20 or more every night, but learned the hard way they were never completely gone- we woke up every morning with many bites. We called for help after the first night and were given a plug-in repellent, which did no good at all. Sadly, we missed out on daily housekeeping because we had to control the number of times our room door was opened and left open (to prevent entry to more mosquitos). Part of a great getaway is the pampering that comes with daily cleaning and turn-down services, which we had to forfeit. This was a big milestone birthday celebration and our first time in Venice. Unfortunately, our special trip was overtaken by hunting mosquitos, being bitten throughout the night and being unable to relax in our room. Would I stay here again? Absolutely not. And I would not recommend it to others.

In case you arrange dinner/drinks at night in the historic center it might be a problem the way back to the hotel only due to the distance (30-40 mins walk) taking into consideration that vaporeto (Orta station) doesn't serve that station after 23:30 so that leaves you with only solution the use of sea taxi (100 EUR) or walking.

There was one young lady that was not very friendly during both of our interactions with her. She seemed to be put off by our request for a restaurant recommendation and for additional water. However, the rest of the staff were amazing, accommodating, and very friendly. The morning breakfast was outstanding and spread out in three separate rooms ( 5 stars for their service and fantastic quality). The hotel is in a very quiet location with an easy 25 minute walk to St. Mark's and the train station. The room we stayed in was very clean, comfortable, and nicely furnished. We really enjoyed our stay here and very happy with choosing this hotel.

- 286elmar (10/5): Hotel Dei dogi Venezia trip birthday celebration - At the start, we were given a king bed but I don’t want to be laying next to my sister who snores and requested a single bed , so they changed the bed to 2 single beds and gave us a complimentary drinks and snacks while waiting for our room to be ready. Everyone are so nice and helpful. They answers all our questions and responded quickly to our request and our needs. I will definitely recommend this hotel .

Beim Checkin mussten wir mehrfach darum bitten, uns anmelden zu dürfen, insgesamt hatten wir bei jeder Begegnung den Eindruck, das untereinander scherzende Personal als Gäste zu stören. Insbesondere geärgert hat uns: Das Zimmer war bei Ankunft auf 29° geheizt. Der uns begleitende Mitarbeiter nahm dies zur Kenntnis, konnte jedoch nichts ändern und verliess daraufhin kommentarlos das Zimmer. Auf unsere Nachfrage an der Rezeption (nach vergeblichen Versuchen, das Problem selbst zu lösen) wurden wir wieder zu dem gleichen Mitarbeiter geschickt, der behauptete, in Venedig sei dies im Winter eben so, man könne entweder gar nicht heizen oder auf sehr heisse Temperaturen. Erst unter Zuhilfenahme unserer Italienischkenntnisse, mehrfachem Insistieren und schliesslich Telefonat mit seiner Vorgesetzten konnten wir erwirken, dass die Heizung repariert wurde.

We took advantage of the complimentary transfer to a glass factory in Murano and because we were the only people at that time we had a guide all to ourselves. The trip was a special treat for my 50th and the staff left treats and lovely messages both days. They made our stay extra special. Highly recommend.

It is not our first stay, but we are charmed by this place and returned with very great pleasure. The entire hotel and its surroundings - the main building/ a real venețian pallazzo, the luxuriant garden, private waterfront - are very charming and very carefully managed by a professional team. Great breakfast with many choises, including traditional sweets during Carnival. The staff is very friendly, professional and very careful with all the details for a perfect stay.

- AussieDoc4217 (10/5): Lovely accommodation, well located in Venice - We stayed at Palazzo dei Dogi in Venice. Although it’s not in the heart of Venice, it is very close to Madonna del’Orto vaporetto wharf, and about 10 minutes walk to San Marcuola Casino wharf on the Grand Canal. If you get a vaporetto pass, you can get anywhere in Venice very easily. The hotel was once a palace. Check in was efficient and friendly. Our room was spacious and had a large bathroom with a heated towel rail (great for drying laundry). The room was decorated in Italian clashing colour combinations that just sort of work. The room felt very luxurious and the bed was very comfortable. We had a window looking out onto a canal. The TV had its smart features disabled. Breakfast was delicious with a good variety and the Italian coffee was fantastic. We were given a private boat ride to Murano to a glass factory. Unfortunately, although other groups there had a guide, we were neglected and left that factory. I looked at a mosaic glass picture frame at their gallery and they wanted €335 for a 4”x 6” frame. We went up the road to Mazzega glass factory and bought an identical frame for €120. From there we caught the vaporetto to Burano, had lunch then back to St Mark’s Square then a vaporetto back to the hotel.
- annedM5865MK (10/5): We love Grand Hotel Palazzo dei Dogi! - My husband and I love this hotel. This is our fourth stay at Grand Hotel Palazzo dei Dogi. We stayed in a huge Junior Suite. The room is beautiful and was recently renovated along with a marble bathroom. The bathroom has both a walk in shower and bathtub with two sinks, toilet and bidet. This arrangement is perfect for two people. We have flowers in our room. Prosecco was waiting in our room when we arrived and various little gifts arrived almost daily: skincare, boxed soaps, complimentary bar vouchers and a fabulous cocktail offering in out room complete with bottled cocktails, crystal glassware, snacks and ice. One of the snacks was Taralli from Puglia! They are so delicious. All of the staff is wonderful. Sara, a new addition to the hotel team, checked us in upon arrival. She’s young, enthusiastic and friendly. Sara made us feel so welcome. Jurgen showed us our room and helped us with our bags. The hotel’s breakfast is outstanding. The pastries are delicious. The breakfast staff are incredible and cater to our every need. The team is comprised of Tahani, Mame, Die and Elena. They great us warmly, make sure we’re comfortable and bring us little treats. Today we had a delicious fresh squeezed glass of blood orange juice. It’s very seasonal and we were delighted to get to try it. These young women are amazing. None of them are originally from Italy but speak beautiful Italian, English and other languages. They work very hard to keep the breakfast area clean, orderly, well stocked and replenished. They make coming down to breakfast a true pleasure. Housekeeping also does a wonderful job. Our room is always made up to perfection. We will have been here ten days when we leave on Sunday. We are sorry to leave and are already planning our next stay at Grand Hotel Palazzo dei Dogi.

Easy to get anywhere in the city and from the airport. The garden is absolutely magnificent. The staff are know the city inside out and could answer questions with easily understood pragmatic responses. The return to the airport is more complicated on public water transport due to limited capacity of the boat so we had to take a water taxi.
