- Maureen (8/5): - Our recently renovated room was excellent. Housekeeping was great. Loved the rooftop dipping pool, bar and lounge. 360 degree views of Athen including the acropolis! Cute little balcony. Great breakfast…and all very affordable and good value for the money. The location was somewhat sketchy…graffiti everywhere, garbage in the streets, but we stuck to the main streets and didn’t go out after dark.

We arrived before check in time and provided luggage storage to allow us to explore the area around the hotel. Great buffet breakfast provided each morning.

- Matthew (8/5): - We had a pleasant stay at the Candia Hotel. The staff were very nice and helpful. The hotel is showing a bit of age but this was not a problem, our room was somewhat basic but had everything we needed. The rooftop area is great - great view of the Acropolis, the pool is very refreshing, and the bar and food are decent and very convenient. There is also a pedestrianised street a few blocks away with several decent food options like pizza, Greek food and gyros. There are also minimarts around and a supermarket about 5 minutes walk. However the back streets around the hotel have a quite edgy feel so we avoided after dark and used normal street smarts but at the same time had no problem at all and saw nothing untoward. The hotel is 3 - 5 metro stops from the main tourist area.
- Neil (8/5): Good 4 star hotel - We booked three days here to explore Athens after a 7 day boat trip around the Saronic Islands. The standard of the hotel was very good and the staff pleasant. The rooftop pool is really just a plunge pool, so you cannot really swim in it and the location is close to the less salubrious part of town, so walking in the wrong direction took us into some dodgy areas. However go to the nicer parts of Athens and it is an excellent city to explore and wine and dine in. The rooms were very clean with air-conditioning and the beds large and comfortable. The bathroom was excellent with good rainshower heads. The selection of TV channels was a little disappointing with really only CNN as an English speaking channel. We enjoyed the happy hour for cocktails on the rooftop bar which has stunning views of the city and the Acropolis being one of the highest buildings around. All in all a fitting end to a luxurious holiday.

- Nettie (6/5): - The first night in room 517 was amazing - lights everywhere, walk in shower. 2nd night and a change of rooms to 211. This room has no lights except for the bathroom, the bathroom door is incredibly hard to slide open & shut, and the street noise is rather loud. I cannot fathom the difference between the 2 rooms in this hotel. No lights is a new one for me.
- Warsha (8/5): - Metrostation Larissa op 5 minuten loopafstand. Hotel is 20-25 minuten loopafstand van het centrum. Omgeving van hotel niet echt uitnodigend om rondje te wandelen. Goed hotel voor een stedentrip. Heeft ook een rooftopbar en zwembad met uitzicht op het akropolis. Kamer is wat niet geheel geluidsdicht (hoort verkeer van buiten en andere hotelgasten op de gang of de kamer ernaast) en is wat verouderd maar is wel schoon en netjes. Personeel is aardig. Ontbijt is simpel. Kan ook kiezen om in het centrum te ontbijten voordat je je excursie gaat doen. Ik was zeer tevreden.
- Annie (6/5): Fine if you need to be in this area - Hotel is definitely average, kind of old, small things not maintained. Room 603 has a view of the Acropolis but there are antennas in the way. The shower head is at waist level. The door lock is questionable. The room is small given it’s a “premium” room. Breakfast is good. The large balcony was really nice. The shower had hot water. The AC worked well. I wouldn’t stay again as it was a 30 minute walk into the downtown.
- Paul (10/5): - Area looks a little grubby, but it’s not dangerous in any way. A couple of great little restaurants nearby (Tasty Corner doesn’t look much, but it’s really good) and easy to get into the centre of Athens.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Sufficiently fine but left me furious - It’s a fine hotel on the metro line and a 30 minute walk from the Acropolis. My biggest problem was the failure to listen to me when I paid the city tax. I asked to use the pin on my credit card rather than swipe it and they immediately swiped it. Therefore, my card was declined. I gave them my second card and said again I need to use the pin. Don’t swipe it. And they swiped it too. So now both my cards were declined and did not work the rest of my two week trip. I had to rely on the safety cash I carry. To say I was furious does not truly describe how I felt.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Rude staff - The security man was rude towards guests. The lady at the front desk yelled at me during check in and was very rude. I was just trying to point out that I forgot to sign the check in sheet. I have never experienced such rude staff at any other hotel. Normally staff are warm and greeting. We felt not welcome and will not come back after this. Also they close the roof terrace for at private event, when many guests only chose this hotel because of the roof terrace.

- Tamami (8/5): - We're from Japan. We're not good at English conversation, but they explained things to us many times. We decided on this hotel because we were joining a tour to Meteora early the next morning, it was about a 5 minute walk from the meeting place in front of the station. I chose the superior room after looking at the photos on Expedia. The triple room had two bedrooms and a modern bathroom.There is a Gregory's Coffee and a convenience store nearby. Gregory's Coffee is located in a gas station and you can buy water and snacks there. One thing to note is that if you want your room to be cleaned, you have to press a button. I didn't press it, so no one came in. However, I called to request towels, and they were brought right away! I couldn't find the Wi-Fi password for each room either (the staff confirmed it), but they gave me a different password. The rooftop bar with a view of the Acropolis was under construction and we couldn't get in. The breakfast was ample and especially the potatoes, baked cake and fried eggs were delicious!!

Das Hotel modernisiert derzeit, die renovierten Bereiche sind sehr modern und gut eingerichtet. Wir hatten ein nicht renoviertes Zimmer im 3. Stock, das Wort zweckmäßig trifft es auf den Punkt! Ein Besuch im nächsten Jahr kann ich empfehlen, dieses Jahr würde ich nochmal eine andere Unterkunft wählen.

We saw every single sunset up there, sitting by the pool, looking out over the rooftops of Athens. It was stunning! You are only minutes from the subway and everything is within reach. I wish we could have stayed longer. We can definitely recommend this place! If we ever come back to Athens, we would definitely stay there again. 5-star rating!!

The area isn't great but location is good, being very close to to the tube, a cheap taxi into town or a short walk to the start of the hop on hop off bus. We didn't have any concerns walking around the area.

Room had been recently updated with a large shower. Laundry is expensive, however they provide additional information on laundromats nearby as needed.

- Verified traveler (2/5): Old, noisy and hard beds, - The beds were very hard and the rooms are old and very outdated. The doors have scuff marks and large gaps between lock it felts unsafe. It was very noice and far away from the main attractions.
- Sean (10/5): The perfect spot! - A wonderful hotel 3 minutes from two different subway stations. They were in the middle of renovation whe we stayed (January) but the restaurant, bar, and pool were all top notch. The staff were amazing and very well informed about the sights around Athens. I feel like we got our own customised tour guide! Our rooms had a view of the Acropolis, and the rooftop patio had an even better one! Definitely a gem and a bargin!
- Marcin (4/5): Overall not good - Hotel is going through some renovation and for 3 out of 4 days there have been horrible construction noises that didn’t allow us to rest and enjoy our time. Windows are not soundproof and hotel is located near by busy road, so sleeping was possible only with earplugs.

The rooftop pool is amazing although it is a small one and the cafe/bar has an amazing view of the acropolis. The area is not very safe, just stay near the main road and you will be fine.

Proximity to transit and coffee shops and restaurants is a big plus. The room we had faced the road and was extremely noisy. traffic noise disturbed us constantly. The staff was co-operative. No English channels on T.V. But generally a good enough experience.

The hotel itself is pretty “outdated”, with heavy room keys and old and small elevator. Room was not so spacious for family room. Not so safe neighbourghood.

The bathroom was too small and sink too large and too near the toilet. The breakfast was also very basic even though there was many choices. The Greek yoghurt was delicious as were some of the cakes.Better coffee needed. Was a little too far from city Center. Would not stay there again. Staff were amazing, friendly and very helpful.

Everyone we dealt with from the front desk and the restaurant were very helpful and provided excellent service. Although our room was dated and could use some upgrade including a mattress topper to make the mattress more comfortable, the staff was so accommodating and tried really hard to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Our room was made up every day, the towels changed, the bathroom cleaned, and the bed made up. The breakfast buffet was included with our room and had a lot of options. They also offered a very affordable buffet dinner. The location is very good with bus stop and a Metro station within walking distance as well as the Hop on Hop off bus. Their is a good variety of restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance. The daytime front desk attendant was very helpful when we asked him about the city bus and made recommendations to visit a monastery close to the Botanical Garden we wanted to visit. We would definitely return.
- Doris (8/5): - The service is very good, however the rooms are very dated and in need of upgrades. The bathroom in our room was so small that the sink was on top of the toilet and it was impossible to sit up straight when using the bathroom. The breakfast which is included was very good with many options. The neighbourhood is not the safest so you need to be careful when going out. Very nice terrace with very nice view of the Parthenon lit up at night.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Fine for the price. - Walls were quite thin, so you could hear other people easily. This was especially noticeable early in the morning, when people were getting ready to leave to catch flights, and you could easily hear people talk and move before sunrise. Apart from that it had everything you needed and wanted. when you're paying a lower price than the rest of the market, it's the sort of thing that you can expect.
- Michele (6/5): - For the price, it’s not really worth it. You’re better to go someplace cheaper as the quality would be about the same. It’s in an ok area, but far from any of the night life. It wasn’t very clean either. I had hair on my sheets, tub, and stains on the floor. Also you can’t keep your air conditioner on while out, as you key controls the power. I understand this, but it is a bit frustrating when it’s extremely hot out and one would like to come back to a cool room.

- Peter (8/5): Great rooftop bar and pool - Good basic hotel for tour groups . Lots of weird combo of beds in the rooms. Stayed trice and no double provided. Best thing is the rooftop bar and pool. Great views and cool breezes. Close to train and only a couple of stops to city centre
- Nasir (6/5): - Hotel is due a full refurbishment/decoration (inside & outside), rooms are small, no bell boys to help with the luggages, no attentive/any customer service. Need more cleaners to maintain daily good cleaning. The only part of the building we enjoyed the most is the roof top, will be great if the lobby section is transformed to hotspot waiting/relaxing waiting area with a bit of colourful decor maybe. Lifts are too small which isn't a problem but needs to be modernised and cleaned.

Lots of little shops and food options nearby, with a quick Uber to the Acropolis for tours/rooftop sunset dinners. The hotel rooms are small compared to North American usuals, but does its job well. Clean, air conditioned, works.
