- Raeanne (10/5): - Quaint little hotel on the canal. Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel was very clean. A five minute walk from San Stae vaporetto stop. It has a small bar on site if you want to have a drink in ye evening and a very good breakfast is available if you want to eat at the hotel for $10 euro. The breakfast included bacon, eggs, fruit, yoghurt, cereal, pastries and coffee when we were there. There are a couple of coffee bars close by if you don’t want to eat at the hotel.

Hotel is directly on the grand canal and has taxi boat locations nearby and is centrally located within Venice. Room was clean, quiet, and had fast wi-fi. Would definitely like to return.

- Paul (8/5): - Hotel was nicely furnished with “old world” charm. We loved the fact that it overlooked the Grande Canal. Its quiet location was just what we needed after a busy day of sightseeing. Housekeeping was excellent and very responsive to special needs. Reception and bar service was good. Special kudos to Nihal who assisted us with getting luggage to the third floor. (NOTE: There is no elevator at this hotel so try and get a room on the first floor). The stairs were difficult for us. (We are 78 and 77). One last thing - the included breakfast was excellent and the service was very good.

He loved his room next to a side canal, which was very comfortable and relaxing, with great facilities . He also found the breakfast excellent. He hasn’t stopped talking about his stay since he came home a week ago! Would love to return!
- Gabriela (10/5): - I’ve been staying at San Cassiano Ca’ Favretto every year for ten years (except for Covid in 2020). I am always excited to return because staying there is like staying with family. I know the people at the reception desk (Simone is the best) and the people that take care of breakfast for the guests. Anna Maria, Sheryl, and Merlino know my tastes and they even come with my cappuccino without my having to order it. Without exception all the employees are the kindest, most caring and helpful; they always make my stay wonderful and make me want to return the following year. If you email them with a request (like asking for my favorite room or sending back a forgotten object) they respond immediately despite de 6-hour difference between us. I have already recommended them to friends, will gladly continue to do so, and will always return to San Cassiano Ca’ Favretto.
- Rigan (10/5): - We visited during Carnevale, and this hotel fitted in perfectly with this. The room decor was opulent with a magnificent view onto the Grand Canal. It was however quite well soundproofed with only a low level of noise coming through. The bathroom on the other hand was quite modern, and the shower was just great. Its nicely tucked away in a quiet area just off the main routes, and we missed the turn for the hotel a few times until we spotted the overhead signs. There's a nice little local bar in the square a couple of corners away for lunch and dinner, and you're only a few streets away from Rialto, which is a lot closer then the map makes it look like. Would we stay again? Yes!

The location is to amazing within easy reach of both Rialto and St Marks. There is a great choice of good restaurants in the area. Travel around Venice is easy with a Vaporetto stop just a short walk away.
- Juan Pablo (2/5): - I booked my stay at Hotel San Cassiano Ca'Favretto through Expedia, trusting its "VIP Selection." The photos depicted a charming, well-kept hotel, but the reality was far from it. From the moment I arrived, cleanliness was clearly lacking, and while the room was functional, it showed evident signs of neglect. The real nightmare began at dawn when I woke up itching. I turned on the light and found hundreds of ants crawling on the bed, the floor, and even in the bathroom. I immediately reported it to the front desk, where the receptionist seemed surprised and filmed the scene, assuring me they would look into it. However, after waiting without any resolution, the only "compensation" I received was a four-euro discount—essentially, the price of a cocktail at their bar. Expedia, rather than taking responsibility, left the decision to the hotel, which denied any refund, arguing that "due to its location near a lake, the presence of insects is normal." To make matters worse, they falsely claimed that I had not reported the incident, despite the fact that the receptionist documented everything. If you're looking for a hotel in Venice, avoid this one. The lack of hygiene, poor handling of issues, and complete disregard for guests' comfort make it a terrible choice.

- Robert (10/5): - This property was built in the 14th century right on the Grand Canal. We had a view of the canal … it was beautiful! The buffet breakfast was very nice and convenient. Hotel had NO elevator but they have a porter to carry your heavy bags up to your room. The water taxi stops right at the hotel - very convenient. Only issue (and it is very minor) the floor in the room tilts to the wall and your head is below your feet. Also the split AC/Heater did not go onto heat so in am it was chilly. Again these were minor issues. This place was lovely, the staff very accommodating and I would stay here again!!

I was warmly greeted by Fabio, whose customer service was outstanding. Nakin brought my bags up to my room, and then he brought me a drink on their beautiful terrace right on the grand canal. It is pure magic! His service is outstanding. Then, Angelo helped me with the ferry schedule. His customer service was outstanding! I am so grateful to be staying in this magical hotel.

- Sean (8/5): Great Spot in Venice - I was in Venice for one night at the beginning of a longer trip. This was a great place for a short stay. The location is easily walkable from the train station. It is also very easy to get to the airport vaparetto. The hotel has charm and a helpful staff. I had a nice canal view. There is also a canal deck at the end of the hotel which provides a view. Only downside: The weather was warm and the room was hard to cool at times.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Excellent location, clean hotel - The breakfast included is similar to hotels of much lower quality (e.g., orange juice was canned, fruit was mostly canned mixed with fresh apples and the breakfast rolls were OK but not freshest, and the scrambled eggs could have been powdered). However, the location is excellent. We had a view of the canal, which was great. Unfortunately, other than breakfast, the hotel does not have any service. There is a bar but it only had drinks. There are good restaurants near by (Muro San Stae was great and reasonably priced). Good stay overall. The hotel was very clean - no issues with anything.

Very friendly staff, it has a terrace with a spectacular view of the grand canal, not too many amenities at the room, for the same reason that you are staying in a historic building, the room feels old, I would stay here again if it is available.

There is a wooden patio facing The Grand Canal…perfect to sit and watch the boats and gondolas. The staff couldn’t have been any nicer or accommodating. Nothing was a problem…gave us wonderful recommendations for restaurants and sites..arranged our water taxi upon check out to get us to the train station. We took advantage of the in hotel breakfast every morning..wonderful selection of meats cheeses fruits and pastries. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Venice.

- Verified traveler (8/5): - I booked a basic single room (1 twin bed), however I was put in a different room. Although the new room was larger, (double bed, a daybed and sitting area) it was evident that it had not been used for some time. There were cobwebs in the room and live spiders on the ceiling. Also the room had an odor. The second night there I stayed in my daughter's room which was much cleaner and had no odor. The breakfast buffet was fabulous!

It’s just the rooms were a little old and dingy the one thing that really stood out was the slippers they give you to shower were brown they looked so sold and dirty so it just gave a bad vibe . But it wouldn’t stop me from staying there . The location is quite a hike from the train station you will need a water taxi direct if you have a lot of luggage .

It's not perfect, it can't be, and that's part of the charm. The staff was excellent and the location is just far enough away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to the main attractions. We would stay again.
- Amber (6/5): - This hotel was rated as a 4-Star but it definitely was not. There were renovation projects going on and the restaurant was only open for breakfast. Renovation work is acceptable as long as I can't hear it in my room. Not being able to eat lunch and dinner there was definitely NOT acceptable. With all of the beautiful furnishings and being on the canal, this hotel could be a 5-Star hotel with renovations. The Murano glass art and lighting was fabulous. There are no supermarkets or convenience store located nearby. (Closest one is about 20 min by walking)

We like to walk and see things. The hotel is quaint. Air conditioned. Breakfast is 6 euros and well worth it. It has a terrace you can sit in and eat. They have another terrace opened all day and you can have drinks on it or bring your own. The staff was very helpful for anything g we needed. Our favourite place to stay.

The room is very dusty and moldy, very tough for our son who has allergy. He has been suffering during our stay. We also found blood stains in bad sheet and pillow sheet.

- Christopher (10/5): - There are so many positive things to say about this hotel. In fact, this was my third stay and I plan to return. The location is perfect. It can be tough to navigate Venice with luggage but the hotel is a short walk from two vaporetto stops. It's a walk with some bridges but that is Venice! It is also situated close to active parts of the city but far enough away from them for a quiet stay. The décor is exactly what comes to mind when you think of Venice. The bathrooms are clean and decent sized. The water pressure is fantastic! The staff is always friendly and welcoming...I have come to know several of them by name. My only criticism is that the pillows are a little thin (I should have asked for another one which would have solved it so it's really my fault).

- LORENA MARIA (8/5): - It was a very cool and like old hotel! It was like a transport back in time but with the comfort of a newer hotel. Right on the grand canal, that too was awesome!
- Andrew Joseph (10/5): - We have stayed at this hotel before and after covid didn't know if it would be the same, simple answer it was better there was some of the old staff and some new ones all a credit to the hotel, friendly and helpful, i cant recommended this hotel highly enough and we will be returning, The breakfast was really good and lots of choice all in all we had one of the best time in Venice we have had
- Verified traveler (4/5): Expected much more from a 4-star hotel - Perhaps as it is a 4-star hotel, and having stayed in a few others in Italy, I had much higher expectations for my stay. I was let down quickly. Being hard to find in an alley, the hotel's lobby is pretty run-down, and the staff helping to bring me to my room was pretty rude and seemed interested in just getting his job done. The building does not have any lifts and the steps weren’t easy to scale, being very narrow (witnessed a fellow elderly guest struggling to get up to her room). Corridor leading to its rooms felt like a hostel corridor too. The room is very small and not very clean, with dust visible at multiple spots. The work desk is small and not stable too. The bathroom is tiny too and hard to get into for a shower (you will have to climb on top of its small bathtub for the shower too). Picked this hotel hoping for much more, and even its advertised “overlooking the canal” wasn’t applicable to me as I had gotten a room overlooking its smoking area instead (you can imagine the noise and smoke). There is a fine line between being historic and elegant, and being old. This unfortunately is the latter.

- Frank (10/5): - This property is a heritage Venice property, and we loved it. So close to the Rialto Bridge, the Square, the markets, and any level of shopping you could desire. The property has its own dock which is a major plus when booking water taxis.

- Amber (10/5): - They were wonderful. There’s a place to store luggage while you wait for the room to be ready. They a short walking distance from everywhere. They also had staff that carried our luggage to our room.
- Brenda (10/5): - The hotel staff were helpful and friendly. The room was outdated but the bed was comfortable. Close to everything and we had everything we needed close by. The dinner restaurant they recommended was fantastic. Al Nono restaurante!!

- Verified traveler (10/5): - This lovely historic property offered a fantastic location, large room, canal view and reasonably priced breakfast. Enrico at the front desk was super helpful getting us tickets to a show. Drawbacks were the cramped bathroom, the delay on delivering the bottle of wine (we had to ask for it) and of course, it was expensive (for us).

Loved staying in this historic hotel; it is well maintained and right on the Grand Canal so easy for water taxi to drop you right at the front door. Staff was wonderful, and hotel was in a quiet area. Had breakfast on the little balcony overlooking the canal.
- John (10/5): - Great hotel for our family, and we loved the patio on the Water. The pastry smell being cooked in the morning was amazing. Walking to Rio Alto and from S Stae aquabus stop is easy.

- Alison (8/5): Great location! - Great location, and very walkable, but bear in mind that you have three canal bridges to cross with luggage to get to the hotel from the vaporetto San Stae stop. There’s a dock directly at the hotel if you want to splurge for a water taxi. Very helpful staff, but do what you can to not be on the third floor (no elevator and steep stairs). Staff did help me up there with my bags, and bringing them down at the end of my stay. Cold AC, great housekeeping and breakfast staff. Breakfast hours changed without warning during the week, and there’s no to-go option for early mornings when you need to leave for tours or trains. Amazing chandeliers, even in the rooms. Loved the mini fridge (supermarket nearby). Would I stay here again? Absolutely!!
- Antonio (2/5): - 3 floor and not elevator…. Huge stairs. On the night is scary the streets around the hotel, nobody and not business over there. Definitely not good for the prize.
